Bosum, so sorry to hear about your mom. I agree with you "how the hell does that happen". As least now it has been caught and she can get the medical treatment she so needs. Yup, your right about the Wellbutrin. I tried that when I was on it and whoa, did I have fun. I also just drank when I was on an antihistamine, and I was feeling no pain but extremely tired. I guess they put this info on the packages so we will heed their warnings. Are you still on the Wellbutrin?

(((Bosum's Mom))) That must have been hurting like hell! Poor woman. I was on Wellbutrin for 2 weeks and then I developed a bad rash all over that itched like hell so they figured it was that. I went off and it went away so it must have been a delayed reaction which is so odd but that is what happened.
cbwitt, you are going to do great! By now, the CO (carbon monoxide) in your body is back to normal levels (11 days is a long time in the non smoking world..lol) and your body is starting the healing process. Keeping you in my thoughts for a successful surgery and that your TE's don't hurt too much!
Hugs to all...running as usual as am at work!

cbwitt1970 you're my inspiration!!
I started Wellbutrin today, at last. So far so good, but I'll give it some days to take hold before I toss on a nicotine patch and join you and many others in a SMOKE-FREE LIFE.
BosumBlues & lisamarie68, stay strong and good luck w/ everything going on in your lives.

Thanks ladies! It's a daily struggle. I'll tell you one of the major things that really hit home with me. Being a 30+ yr smoker, my lungs didn't sound so great. Between coughing & wheezing, I was terrified that I would end up in ICU on a ventilator. I have a minimum of 3 surgeries ahead of me so I just knew it was crunch time.
I have faith in all of you that you will be successful. And don't beat yourselves up. If you slip, get right back up. YOU CAN DO IT!!
Also. In the past I have always set a quit date with half a pack hidden away somewhere. Best advice I can give you is do not have a cigarette within 5 miles of you! We are too fragile & prone to sneak when no one is looking! I live in a small town on the lake & it's a good little hiketo the store so I just don't keep them near me.
Good luck to everyone & prayers that we will all beat this horrible addiction

I had forgotten about this radio interview I did with the Cancer Support Community--Frankly Speaking about Cancer---

cbwitt1970 .... you are so right about not having smokes nearby. When I did the laser therapy to quit I honestly thought that after I could hold a cig in my hand after a few weeks. Then I took the hand to mouth approach which ended up being "light the damm thing". You just gotta hold tough. VJ is so right about her quitting tips. I wasn't on this thread at the time as I was just newly diagnosed and I just couldn't do it because my surgery was in a few days. But in all honesty, it was my radiologist oncologist who gave me hope. She never scolded me or put me down about the smoking. When I told her I hadn't had a smoke in "x" amount of days, her response was "that's a good thing". So for her, I knew I had to do it. And, I thank God every day for her!

Bosum - did you quit the Wellbutrin? Hope your Mom is doing better.

MinusTwo. Yep. Surgery tomorrow😳 Trying to stay peaceful. Heading to the PS this afternoon to get drawn all over & photographed. Their version of preop.
Day #15 of no smoking. Hoping my lungs are in better shape than they were 2 weeks ago. I do feel like I'm breathing better! Been taking Vitamin C for 2 weeks also as I read it aids in healing lung tissue.
Prayers for everyone facing surgery this week. I will be so relieved to have this phase behind me. I was lying in bed this morning enjoying being able to lay on my side. I know it will be quite awhile before I will be able to do that comfortably😓
Stay strong sisters! WE GOT THIS!!

Hi ladies!
I haven't gotten a dx yet, but I was hoping to be allowed to join your group. My biopsy is scheduled for this Wed, and my BS has pretty much told me to be prepared. In light of that, I decided to quit smoking as well, considering compromised wound healing, interference with chemo.. and heck... if she's wrong and I end up being fine, it'll still greatly benefit me!
Sooo, Sept 23rd was my first day smoke free. I was doing really well (cold turkey) until yesterday. I had a pretty bad emotional day and ended up smoking a cigarette. I'm pretty bummed, but grateful it was only one. So in the last 5 days, I've had one smoke.
I'm back on the wagon today, and doing ok. I've tried Chantix before, but it didn't work very well for me. I have heard it works really well for others though, so I wish everyone much luck who are going down that road!
And, good luck tomorrow cbwitt! I'm praying for you!

Thank you Chanty! Don't beat yourself up about slipping up. We are all human. And we have an addiction. Chantix was no good for me either. You can do this girl! We are all here for you😊
Thank you for the surgery well wishes. I have been anxiously awaiting this day & now it's here. Just want it over with!
Hugs ladies

Cbwitt, in your pocket ,, prayers for you today and Hugs ..
Chanty , as said before do not beat yourself up .. one is still a great day.. if you looked back it took me forever to get this year free of cigarettes , I had slip after slip after slip .. and i did do chantix because that is all that works for me .. and still I remember holding on to that morning smoke forever with my cup of coffee...Cold Turkey is amazing ...and one other note you are as welcome here as anyone .. there arent any qualifications to be here .. just wanting to stop smoking is all .. good luck on your biopsy I will pray for you ...
Minus, Judi, Aprul , Bosom ... love you all so much ..
Today is tha big day at 12:15pm , I will be getting that medallion that i worked so hard for ,, I must thank each and every one of you as well because you all played a part in keeping me sober and smoke free , if not for you ladies and being able to rant and bitch and carry on this would probably not be ..
again much love on this forum and happy i became a part of an amazing group ..

I feel like April saying this, but I gotta run. Just wanted to say a quick congrats to LisaMarie .... you go girl, you so deserve this. Also, congrats to cbwitt1970 .... day 15 is a big hooray. Also good luck tomorrow - big pocket in your outfit as we will all be there with you cheering you on. Chanty, welcome and we are here for you. O.K. gotta make dinner so I will comment later on. Sorry April for starting out like this but I do feel like you - beautiful and sexy that is.

Thank you for the welcome ladies!
Lisamarie - I cannot believe I missed your milestone while attempting to catch up! A huge congratulations to you on your medallion! I cannot even express to you how deeply I understand what this means for you and your loved ones. My whole heart is so happy for you Congratulations again!

Chanty, you are so welcome. As everyone says, sorry you are here but this is a great bunch of ladies to cry, bitch, howl, or whatever. We are here to listen, commiserate, or whatever. So, I forgot to say to SVGsurvive .... way to go. How's it going on the Wellbutrin? LisaMarie, tell us all about today at 12:15. Cbwitt1970, I love your post to LisaMarie ... so thoughtful and caring. I'll having my so called last mammo at the hospital before I'm set free (fingers crossed) and I'll be 60 in November so I'm looking for a big post too! Ha, ha, just kidding. But my friend MT, hang on as we'll be having a smoke when we are 80. Meeting ya soon as time sure flies by fast!

LisaMarie - It sounds like forever when you list the seconds. And I know some days it seemed forever. I remember when you'd quit smoking except with your morning coffee. And you just slid into not needing that last hanging on smoke one day.
Chanty - you are sure welcome. Whether you make it the first time or the 5th time or sometime next year. We've all been there & will be happy to listen to your rants.
cbWitt - Good luck tomorrow w/surgery. Please do let us know how it goes.
Judi - oh you are so young. 60 in November. Sounds like a song - like "autumn in New York"? I do hope you're planning to get lots of mileage out of this B-day.

hahaha Judi! Too funny! I am always going Mach 7, hair on fire because work is so crazy this time of year. All of you retired folks (ahem Judi (newly retired) and MT have time to post more...LOL But, I still love ya even though am jealous!
Love the graphic cbwitt posted! It really spells out your year Lisamarie! How awesome is that!
Ok, running as usual cause my first appointment is at 8:30 today (normally do 9 but this client could not come at 9) so have to get some files ready since I did not do it yesterday.
Hugs!

Good morning ladies!
I'm struggling this morning. I had a terrible boob dream. I think my brain is working overtime while I sleep. Tomorrow is the biopsy and I'm just so scared of what she'll see (we're doing another ultrasound, first). It's rainy and gloomy outside (get it together Orlando!), and the hubbs and I are bickering. We're both quitting at the same time, so we're picking at each other a lot more than usual. It's just one of those mornings where I would love to step out back and take a nice long smoke sauna. *sigh* I'm trying to distract myself with schoolwork, but honestly the thought of cracking open my economics book makes me want to vomit. Maybe I'll find some mind numbing show to watch on Netflix with the kids, they're in rare form this morning.
CbWitt - Today is the day! I'm thinking of you and praying for you!
Judi - Hasn't anyone told you 60 is the new 30? Get it girl! I'm hoping for happy results from your "last" mammo. Fingers crossed!
April - What do you do? Seems like you're always on the go. That's good though. I'm a firm believer that keeping busy keeps your mind (and body) fit!
0 -
Ha Chanty! If only being on the go would keep my body fit then I would be happy to be so busy! LOL I work with the unemployed through a federal program helping them with all barriers and with short term vocational training as well as job development. Although I work in a State office with the DOL, I don't work for the State but for a private non profit (hence the lower paycheck than the State employees I work side by side with) During the summer, it slows down because many employers (and the unemployed) don't worry so much about getting people working but the moment late August hits (and the local community colleges start sending out their non credit catalogue) we get slammed. It will slow down a bit toward the end of next month (or the middle, depending) and then I can breathe! It will happen all over again in mid December when the Spring semester catalogues go out and then I will breathe again in mid to late February..phew. Then the May-June classes come out..you get the drift. It goes in spurts!
Enjoy your Netflix time!
CBwitt, thinking of you!
Judi, since I just turned 60 in April of this year, you know I think 60 is young!
Ok, off again! bye bye xo

Chanty - Been there, keeping fingers crossed. We'll be thinking of you tomorrow. The ULS biopsy procedure itself is easy. It's just waiting for the darn results. Mixed blessings to quit at the same time as DH. It's incredibly much harder if only one is trying, but yes, there is the 'bicker' factor when both are on edge. Try to get outside & fast walk to blot out some of those cravings.

Chanty, we understand your struggle. The one and only time I told myself "it's nothing" turned out to be "something". May all your worries will be a good thing. I sure hope. Yes, to you and April. At 60 I do feel a little older then 30 but I'm busy exercising so my body is starting to get in shape. DH can't keep his hands off of me even though the "sex drive" is low. But I love the attention. April, yes you are beautiful and sexy. I love that mantra. Chanty, yes the bickering can get tough when you are quitting but it is also tough when you are not quitting. Today we went shopping at the one of the store entrances I could smell the "smoke". It's like I have an antennae on. No trying to fool me. Smoke is smoke. Even though I don't smoke now sometimes I just love the smell .... can keep a girl going!

Mods, can you update the BCO website to add a "like" button! There are so many good posts and sometimes we like just to click the button instead of posting. Please look at this option.

VJ - thanks for posting that link about Casting for Recovery. I know a couple of women on the boards who have participated and said it's absolutely fantastic. It's on my bucket list for 2016.
Yes Judi - antennae. Sad to say I follow smoke smells instead of bacon or blueberry muffin smells.
So Thursday I head out on vacation and will be completely "un-teathered" - no phones, no tablet, no pads, no wi-fi - my ideas of a real vacation. I'll probably do a last check here tomorrow to see how everyone's doing but then will be missing in action for 12 days.
cbwitt - thinking of you after surgery today. chanty - hang in there. LisaMarie - miss you girl. Yes ladies, April is the hardest worker of the bunch. And I guess we know Judi's the sexiest!!!

hey ladies. I survived! Long day for me & hubby. Surgery was at 1:30 today. Had to be at the hospital at 9 am this morning for Sentinel lymph node mapping.
I had BMX with TE placement. I have 4 drains. I'm in quite a bit of pain but so glad the surgery is over with.
Thank you all so much for your prayers & support. It means the world to me

cbwitt - take the pain meds. I hate drugs and wasn't compliant with mine at first. The trick is to take them on schedule so you never start having pain - ergo don't have to fight to get rid of it after it's there. And while I didn't like the drains, I was thankful to have them so fluid didn't pool or cause a seroma or require another trip to the surgery suite. Good luck the next couple of days. Remember, even when you start feeling better there are tons of stitches inside that need to heal before you start reaching & lifting & jumping again. Treat yourself gently.
