Congrats to all the smokers who have quit and have stayed smoke free. Hardest thing we have every done. As for the long hair vs. short hair, I love short hair. But I know what you mean about not looking like the pic. I have found cuts that are super but not on me. As we age, our face shape changes and some cuts are just not for some. We need to find a stylist or go on a hair show - I'm in. Most men like women with long hair - maybe they need glasses because some women just are the long hair type. I know some who shouldn't be wearing their hair long .... need a good look in the mirror. Bosun, many congrats on your clean mammo .... you so deserve it.

    Hi Ladies,

Ha Ha short Hair versus Long Hair .. I keep chopping mine off because I think the short hair looks good on me .. My kids hate when I cut it .. and I have heard that as we get older most cut our hair off.. lol...

Hey Bosom .. don't beat you up.... and congrats congrats on that great mammo... Hug ... Thats great News ... I bet the Haircut looks amazing .

As far as Smoking being an addiction , I believe that 100% .. I see people who can smoke only when they drink and not smoke any other time , or have one cigarette and not smoke for days .. for me I can't smoke one .. lol I will smoke the whole pack no doubt .. so Agreed Smoking is an Addiction

I can say I never thought I could quit smoking and yes it was the hardest thing and still is someday's to fight and kick ... they say also that smoking is harder to quit than heroin .. Both are horrible addictions ... xoxoxox

    Love and Hugs

Sometimes only spending some time with someone we love more than anything will do. Congrats on the mammo and the cute new do!

Today is a day I hate. It is our all agency meeting where all of our many locations/offices get together. They do these lame exercises and team building that make no sense and the day drags by. They stuff 225 of us in a room that shouldn't hold more than 150. Why do they always do this on a Friday? Ugh...anyway, my rant is done.

    Love to all!

I'm off to Lake Arrowhead for the weekend for Casting for Recovery. https://castingforrecovery.org/ Anyone who has had BC can apply, it's a free get away (almost- I had to buy a California fishing license).

I was an alternate and someone cancelled. It's a whole lot cooler up there, so I'm really looking forward to getting out in nature and meeting a bunch of new friends.

VJ - have a wonderful time. I've heard several wonderful stories about Casting for Recovery. And I've been to Lake Arrowhead. Even though it was many years ago, it's beautiful. I'll look forward to your review.

Bosum - I don't dream often, but when I do, they are crazy. Too bad we weren't really there!!!

Hey! I am a grandma, but I hardly have any gray hair and I have never dyed it either. The one good part the Good Lord gave me is my hair...LOL

Now my ass is definitely looking like it belongs on a Grandma. HA! xoxo

    Have a blast VJ!

ahhh yes, bat wings. I have those too...sigh. Curse of the women in my family those upper arms. Sheesh, I guess not having white hair still doesn't mean I don't look like a grandma since the rest of me sure does!

    Winking

Oh jeez - I have bat wings. But also have turkey neck. Yuck.

Arm is doing OK but due to the lack of exercise - even walking - I'm getting a pouchy tummy even though I have actually lost weight. I have to gear up my mind for water aerobics starting on 6/1. Don't want to - but HAVE to.

Bosum - yes I have significant nail ridges now too. Sigh. I guess I have to be glad I didn't totally lose my nails with chemo, although the big toe nails came loose. They both still have fungus infections & one still isn't growing at all 2 years later.

Here's a book that you might enjoy - Nora Ephron's "I Feel Bad About My Neck: And Other Thoughts on Being a Woman". The title story/essay is hilarious. She just nails it. The second essay is "I Hate My Purse." If her name is not familiar, Ephron wrote When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle.

P.S. My electrologist told me that only 30% of the hairs go away forever with the first treatment. I had enough treatments some years ago so that they were all gone. Oops - hair re-growth after chemo brought them all back.

Bosum, if you are taking an AI, then there is your culprit in terms of facial hair. No estrogen = man stuff...ugh!

VJ, I hope you had a great weekend at Casting for Recovery. I was lucky enough to apply and get selected on my first try a couple of years ago. In Texas, we have two retreats per year. After you attend a retreat you can go to a reunion camp each fall. At the reunion we raise money to send another woman to a future retreat.

For those who want to experience a dream weekend, check the CFR website and find a retreat to apply to. You will make some lifetime friends. The group sessions are amazing. You will be treated like a princess and learn to tie flies and fish as well. I am so glad I applied. If you apply and are not selected, keep trying. You will not regret it.

I read regularly but do not comment very often. Smoke free 2.5 years. Mammo clear last month, tomorrow appointment with MO and Gyno next Tuesday.

Prayers for a good week ahead for everyone.

jbdayton - thanks for jumping in about CFR. I need to get off my duff & apply. Congrats on your 2.5 years smoke free. Did you use any particular method? We'll all celebrate. And also good news about the clean mammo. Hope tomorrow's appointments are just as positive.

Hi jbdayton, I did have an amazing weekend at the Casting for Recovery Retreat. I encourage everyone on here to apply. I was an alternate and didn't know I was going until just a few days before. If nothing else, it is a great paid vacation but it is so much more. The generosity of the retreat just blew me away. First the lodge and grounds were beautiful and served gourmet food. (sorry but no smoking was allowed on any of the grounds, that was the lodges policy not CFRs). I enjoyed learning about fly fishing and while I thought it was something that would be just a one time experience, I would go again--it was fun. The heart of the weekend is the women you meet - we're all the same, all struggling with difference issues but all relating to the profound effect that BC has had on us. Just a chance to be "normal" again. You could participate as little or as much as you want.

VJ - thanks for the report. Sounds wonderful.

Bosum - I'm so impressed that you're still actively thinking about quitting. You're right. Something will click one of these days.

Hey smokers & non-smokers & those working on quitting - it's quiet here this week. Just for today - I will not smoke. But I sure wanted to after spending 25 minutes with a phone company (to remain anonymous) who couldn't understand how badly they'd screwed up my account. Urrrgh.

Wishing you all a great Memorial Day three day holiday weekend And happy weekend to Judi too even if they don't have a 3 day weekend in Canada.

    Bosum - good luck tomorrow.

Hey there Minus! I can soooo relate to the screw ups with companies that require spending ridiculous amounts of time trying to straighten it all out...makes one want to light right up but....of course, we are so done with that, right? LOL...just for today...

Happy Memorial Day to all (and Judi, happy day period!) and don't forget to thank a Vet!

Bosum, am thinking of you too.

Oh Bosum - yes I knew about your court date. I'm so sorry it didn't go well. Still not the final end though, right? Wish I could send you a lawyer but - I've made it a point not to know any more lawyers very well after three strikes: my honey in school fell in love w/law school & out of love w/me; I put my first husband through law school & he went off to lawyer w/o me; and my brother (who is a real pain) is a lawyer.

Judi - I know you're busy but hope you haven't 'moved on' too far away.

Ha, ha, thanks MT. My three day weekend was last weekend .... I actually thought that the two holidays were mirrored but sadly not so. I've been lurking but not posting. Almost finished my cleaning but spent the day with dh. Big mistake ... couldn't do a thing right. God, sometimes I miss just going out for a smoke for some quiet time!

Judi - my house REALLY needs a cleaning. I haven't done anything since I broke my arm. But I'm learning not to care. If I only invite people over 50 to come in and ask everyone to check their glasses at the door, WTH. Oh dear, are we talking about the male species here? Even the good ones are "men". Yup - men are from mars & women are from venus.

Ha, ha MT .... almost finished! Busy day cleaning the door frames/doors and one bathroom. Almost finished ... one more bathroom to go, baseboards and one more door frame/door as well as cleaning the upstairs furniture. Then I just have to use the swifter. But lucky me, one lady who I know would be looking over my house from top to bottom is not coming to the baptism. It's almost here and then it's over. I told my sister that I'll never do this again. But on the bright side, it really needed to be done. I like your thoughts though ... invite only those over fifty and leave the glasses at the door ... what a thought!

MT, Wally's grandson is being baptized at our house on June 18th. His daughter wants to just have burgers and sausage on a bun but I have a caterer providing the rest of the food. Wally and I will also provide chicken and some people may not be a "meat" eater.

Quick question, has anyone else have problems signing in. Since last night, I have to have my password resent twice. Hmmmmmm, just wondering!

Where is everyone else? Maybe everyone was getting ready for the holiday & now is recovering.

We haven't heard from LisaMarie in a long time. hey girl - how's it going living with your cousin? Any luck on the job scene? Bosum - hope this last week has been better for you.

Bosum - sorry to hear that your week was 'the pits'. I wouldn't even begin to know how to interview attorneys. Ugh. And on top of that, the back injection didn't work!! Girl, you just can't seem to catch a break. I'm not 'little mary sunshine' anymore, but I do think it has to get better down the road. Hang in there - hard as that is. Sending hugs.

Bosum, uggggh I just can't imagine what it's like to be you but hang in there. You will catch a break and then you can sit back and laugh at the absurdity of the whole situation. MT, yes they sent me an email but I don't understand what they want me to do. I'm not computer savy so I sent another email but haven't heard back. So, I guess I'll just keep changing the password. Thanks for your help.
