April - yes all went well, thanks. Surgery started at 8:02 & ended at 8:14am, but of course I was there from 6am to 10am. Port gone & a new chapter starting.

I did PM Judi and she's OK - just crazy busy. She hopes to be back with us soon.

Yeah - we didn't get divorced until DS was out of college, but we were better friends than lovers for most of the 20 years we were married & didn't see any point in being enemies. He even called me when he started dating again to see what I thought. It took awhile for his next wife to figure it out, but for a long time I've had lunch with him every couple of months and the three of us go to dinner once or twice a year. There's not much we agree on, but since we don't have to live together there's no reason to fight.

Bosum - so sorry to hear the "ex" problems aren't getting any better.

LisaMarie - how's the job going? Did you get your truck back? Hope the cousin you're living with doesn't smoke. It's so much easier w/o a constant smoker around.

April - are you taking any vacation time this summer?

Laura - we're all rooting for you. Let us know how you're doing. Quitting isn't fun!!!

Didn't you hire a new lawyer? Hopefully you'll get some better results?

Arm is OK. Still working on getting range of motion back. Ugh. Guess I'd better get off the computer and go do my morning exercises since it's noon.

    Hi guys,

I went out Saturday night with my girlfriends & smoked... I woke up on Sunday and was so mad at myself. I haven't smoked since Saturday tho. So I guess that's a good thing! I refuse to smoke again and let this win again. I know it's pretty bad I shouldn't have smoked at all. Tomorrow 7/21, is my last radiation treatment!!! 😀😀😀 I have been in treatment since December 2015, So I am so happy to be completely finished!!!! I'll have my reconstruction surgery in January, So my goal is to not smoke at all between now and my surgery!

laura - WOO HOO for the last rad's tx. Now you will have some time to gather your energy before surgery. What is the planned date again? Oh those darn girlfriends. Of course we can't really blame only them, but it feels good to blame someone. Just keep trying and you'll do OK.

Going to drive an hour north tomorrow to spend Sat & Sun nights with a friend who lives by a lake. We're going to a little theater production of "Legally Blond" on Saturday night & taking a picnic to a local winery on Sunday that has great free concerts if its not too hot. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Hi Ladies, I am new to the boards, unfortunately not to cancer. My xxx was IDC stage three in March 2014. A/C and taxol for 9 months. Bilateral MX Jan 2015, rads for the next 6 months and finally in remission for 1 year now! Unbelievably I smoked the whole time!! It's embarrassing! I am eager to get started with reconstruction seems to be the one thing that makes me want to quit. It's sad. Waiting on insurance to approve Chantix. Any tips or advice to help with quitting would be very greatly appreciated!!!

In case you've missed my previous posts, I will forward a free PDF copy of my book, "How to Win at Quitting Smoking" to anyone on this list. Just send me a PM with an email address.

I have new insurance this year and they are covering the BRCA test for me. I've had a couple of doctors in the past recommend it but insurance wouldn't cover it. I should get the results in a week or two. One the one hand I think it will be negative but on the other hand, if it was positive at least I would know why I've had it twice. I'm pretty good at compartmentalizing text anxiety but is does break through every once in awhile. If positive, I would need to think about having my ovaries taken out.

Thanks for thinking of me BosumBlues, I really didn't bounce back, I have been drowning my grief in ice cream and I've gained 10 pounds. I just didn't share how devastating it was for me. Since I've never married and really never met anyone I wanted to marry, I just thought it wasn't in the cards for me. And then to meet the "right" guy at age 59 -seemed like a miracle and now it just feels cruel joke. There are still times where it brings me to tears.

I did go out on a couple of coffee dates but very quickly realized that I was not open to meeting anyone and that I needed to resolve my emotional issues over the ex before I can move on. I'm getting there slowly.

Thanks for your kind thoughts. VJ

VJ - so glad you posted a bit about the ex. I too have worried about you but didn't know how to bring up a sore subject. Bosum is so good about saying caring things. I agree about not jumping into dating. You have been badly hurt and healing is not easy. Feel free to yell out any bad name you choose to call him on my behalf.

Mommy - I too took Chantix and swear by it. If you read back through some earlier posts on this thread, you'll see people who used patches, gum, electronic smokes, and (gasp) nothing. I wasn't that strong. With Chantix I finally quit the 4th or 5th time I tried. But I was hard core & the habit & motions were as important to me as the nicotine. I still smoked everywhere. So I quit smoking in my house first. After two weeks, I quit smoking in my car. I only slipped once when I was stuck in a huge freeway back up for an hour. After two more weeks I started Chantix. As LisaMarie says, you can smoke for the first week, but by that time I had started training myself I could only smoke on the front porch so I think it was easier. Mind you, not easy, but easier. As I've said before, even after 9 years, I am NOT a non-smoker. I am a smoker who isn't smoking. Good luck & reach out any time. We're happy to listen to you vent or cry or just bitch & moan. We've all been there.

Oh BTW - my weekend was great. "Legally Blond" was really funny. We had a great Asian meal Saturday night and a delicious fresh fish meal yesterday. This is an "old" friend - meaning we have been friends since our son's were 3 years old and now they're 46. We always have so much to talk about that we sat in her living room visiting until 4am Saturday night/Sunday morning and never even looked at a clock. Needless to say we had a laid back Sunday. Last night we took glasses of wine and walked over to the lake to watch the sunset. Gorgeous over the water.

Hi ..... been so busy with life that I haven't looked at the site. But hello to all and welcome to the new comers!

I want to share this link with you - lets see if it works!

    http://www.forbes.com/.../deciphering-decoding-annie.../...

This is a short article on a movie about breast cancer. It was produced by a gentleman who went to the same high school as me. Interesting!

Judi - oh what a tease. You KNOW we're all dying to hear what you're doing up in the North country. Hope you have time soon to fill us in.

The link you posted goes to Facebook, which I don't do. So I found the following at the Forbes site. Is it the same article? Unfortunately Forbes won't let you visit the site unless you approve their ads, so sorry for the junk. Also put a link to the Wiki article about the movie & the book. Fascinating.

Morning ladies! MT, you are too funny .... I'm just busy getting on with life and my new saying is "not my monkeys, not my circus". I need this. Thanks for putting the link to the Wiki article. Hmmmm, interesting about the Forbes site not allowing you to visit unless you approve their ads ... I didn't have the problem. Anyways, I'm so happy you got it all corrected. That's why I love you.

Anyways, off to exercise in a few minutes. Saw the family physician on Wednesday and I don't have to any tests until next May - that's for mammo, pap, bone density and CT scan. My last CT scan was ok so they want a follow-up in a year's time. I have to admit that it's kinda nice to be back to "normal" as they call it. I love my doc but not enough to see him so often.

Talk later. Have a nice day ladies!
