Oh msc209, we ALL get days like that....sometimes it feels good to growl! I am off to find a hotel for my birthday weekend down in The Keys (part of my hubby's "sucking up"...when I got the flowers he conveniently suggested that we get away to The Keys for the weekend.......and I will make him hold up to that promise). I haven't been down there in over a year so I am excited.
Good luck no smoking ladies. Today has been a little tougher, but so far so good.

Well ive been awake for 2 hours and havent had a cig I think my hands are confused because in 1 hand I have a coffee cup and in the other I SHOULD be holding a cig but nooo. I know i have to quit I have surgery schedualed for July 21 for a double mas. U would think having cancer and having both my breast removed would be enough to make me want to quit smoking. Well anyways today is my 1st day....fingers crossed xx

Hi there coffee...welcome, and good job on breaking the habit of your usual coffee and smoke! Hang in there, and you are in the right place!

Wow, look at all these posts, awesome!! I slept a lot as I didn't want to wake and deal with the urges. Fifish, I get them all day but easier for me at night because it's my relax time. And by the way, that is bullsh_t of your husband to buy a pack but very common. I think my ex would of bought a carton if he wasn't a nonsmoker so he wouldn't of had to deal with me. Tell him to be patient because it will get better every week. Your doing great, let's start again today!
Butterfly, maybe you should start training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and do my tournaments. That would help your quit smoking too. If you can patch it up with your roommate, go for it. Life is too short to live in anger!
Welch, Coffee, I know what you mean. Keep checking in as Fifish, REKoz and I are trying to quit too. We can support each other and rant and rave. Plus there are some here that have made it and others waiting for their day, but we all support each other. Great bunch here!
REKoz, how are you doing? Still yelling?
Pantufas, love all of you. You wouldn't be the same and nice to have Pat back me up, lol.
Cleo, Godtra, MSC thanks for your support.
Will time to deal with the urges, some of them actually hurt.
Hugs,
Janet0 -
Flfish...ya know the "d" i DH doesn't always have to stand for "dear" Sorry your hubby did that with the flowers...I hadn't read that post. But don't beat yourself up, like you said, today is another day! I am proud of you for standing your ground and saying NO I AM going to QUIT! We CAN do this ladies! Hang in there chick!
Much Love To All!!!!

Well hello to all my psychologically damaged friends! At least we are a strong enough group to admit that we all have "issues" of one sort of another!
As you notice, at this moment I am not in caps because right now I am in a non jonesing moment. However, I just finished my breakfast and have a few gulps of coffee left. A few more minutes and the caps will start to fly!
OK Ellie, flowers, a trip to the Keys...how can a nicotine starved smoker resist?? Seriously, that is just too much temptation girlfriend. I wudda smoked too! When it's over, you are going to have to tell him he will have to deal with a bitchy wife whether he likes it or not! Good for you for throwing them back in the truck. I'm jealous, I've always wanted to go to the Keys.
Where you at now Janzin in amount smoked? I agree with you in terms of when I want to smoke the most. I am (oops, was) a coffee and cigs fanatic for the first hour or two in the AM. Then I would smoke less as the day progressed. I could literally have 8 cigs before leaving for work. Of course there's the mandate of after meals cigs, but in general the night would be lightest.
Welcome Coffee....where in Minnesota are you? I lived just south of Minneapolis in the late 80's and just LOVED it there. A great place for my girls to grow up (at least for 5 of their years.) I'm having surgery on the 31st to replace an expander. Had bilateral in November and developed a real bad infection. They say it was probably due to smoking but I also fired my first plastic surgeon for several misteps he made along the way. Anyhow, I ended up with capsular contractor in the left, bc side but had to get through chemo and quit smoking before this surgery. Nothing like waiting till the last minute eh? My bf who is a nurse said to just try to be smoke free for two weeks previous. Best of luck to you.
Well, must get to work and FINISH MY COFFEE...uH OH...IT"S HAPPENING!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
LOVE YOU ALL!!

REKoz, I smoked a few yesterday but so far the urges hasn't been to bad yet. But the ones the come in, ouchie! I get an ache in my chest and my throat gets tight. Made it through my coffee fix though, meals are tough and the good night one of course. Sleeping aids take care of that one.
How are you doing Coffee and Fifish?0 -
Finish my second cup of coffee, GRRRRRRRRR!

Feel like crying, this is hard. When it hits me bad I have a self pity party. Good thing I don't live with someone because I think I would take their head off! I am trying!!!!!

I AM RIGHT THERE WITH YOU AT THE PITY PARTY JANZIN!! I HAVE TOLD TO NOT LOOK AT IT AS BEING DEPRIVED BUT RATHER A GIFT I AM GIVING MYSELF. THAT ONLY WORKS WHEN I'M NOT JONESING! LIKE RIGHT THIS FRIGGIN MINUTE. DEEP BREATH ONE, DEEP BREATH TWO...I WANNA GO TO BED TOO! MAYBE A LITTLE NAP RIGHT HERE IN MY OFFICE. WHO CARES IF THEY SEE ME SLEEPING? GUESS I SHOULD EH?
I'M RIGHT THERE WITH YOU REMEMBER THAT!!

Janiz: sending you lots of love and hugs...just think, pretty soon you'll have an adorable puppy to distract you and you'll be so busy potty training you won't even think about smoking
Flfish:I have tried to quit SEVERAL times over the last few years (more for others then myself) and there was one time that my DH went out and bought a pack of smokes and tossed them at me - apparently i was being such a B&%$# he just wanted the fun loving, happy, non-nicotine deprived wife back...so I can relate! I am so proud of you for tossing the pack in his truck this am. I always found it easier to deal when I was alone, I took lot's of naps and read alot, but I did not play well with others and that always made me want to 'escape' for a cig...Have fun planning your get-a-way in the Key's...
Butterfly: I agree with Janiz - put all that energy and aggression to use - I can so see you kicking some Jiu Jitsu butt! I love your spunk and energy...don't let anger get the best of you (I know its hard, especially when someone you trust does/says something hurtful) Just remember we are all here for you...
REKoz: Thanks for the note on FB - I laughed out loud when you started SHOUTING and had to explain to my DH why I was cackling!! I don't know what I would have done without my BCBF buddies over the last couple months and I am so glad we have such an AWESOME community going here...
Pantufas: Thank you for sharing...I always wondered but secretly suspected it was an alter ego thing...I have been there myself and can relate...I am sooo happy and feel blessed to have Nancy, Pat and Susan in my corner and as my friends...
MSC, Coffee, Godtra, Nadine and all our newbies: Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!!!

Really what do Non Smokers do with thier time?... I feel like ive already cleaned everything walked the dogs, watered the grass, laundry, watched the leaves blow on the trees and watched the neighbors cat watch me back out of its window across the street. LOL... and there is still half a day left.. OMG.... I know when my husband gets home he is going to smell like a cig im either going to bite his head off OR lick the smell off his lips...LOL...will let you all know later...

Hi Coffee,
I can so relate to that time thing. When I quit last time I was sitting on the couch dumbfounded and calm. Not knowing what to do with the time without smoking.

Ellie,
I got so mad when I read that your husband put smokes in flowers. Loved the comment Butterfly made about what DH stands for. Now I won't be able to get the Dick Head translation out of my mind..LOL

Ellen and Janet YOU are DOING GREAT!!!

Well, I have made it through today ok after my slip up yesterday. I love my hubby, but I do wish he would go away for a month so I could kick this. Thanks Michelle for telling me I am not the only one this has happened to. My dh is just so use to his happy go lucky wife who is usually giggling that it drives him NUTS when I get so crabby, but he will just have to deal while I just keep trying.
Janzin, I wish you could go to the Keys with us. It is SO awesome down there (although hard not to smoke....EVERYONE smokes down there). It is the most laid back beautiful place on earth. No one is in a rush and there are tiki bars on every corner.....and everywhere you look, you see beautiful green water.....there is nothing better than driving down highway 1 with the top down. Maybe we should do our Butt Kickers trip down in the Keys (no passports needed).
Ellen--you are doing awesome. I struggle after I eat too, that is my toughest time. Hang in there.
Coffee---I too wonder what non smokers do with all their extra time. I never realized how much time I spent smoking, walking to go get a smoke, having a soda after my smoke...etc....at least your house will be clean! Try cooking, that seems to help me by keeping my hands busy.
Have a great night ladies!

Coffee, you cracked me up!!! Because the whole day I have been trying to find things to do to keep my mind off of smoking, and I swear it seems like time has stopped so I can suffer longer! Cried a bit on my divorce, can you believe that????? My cat is getting on my nerves real bad, follows me everywhere meowing onostop. I am thinking about stuffing cotton down his throat so he would shut the frick up!!
Hugs to all of you!!! Wish we had our own quit smoking spot at the Keys for sure.
Well............Here kitty kitty GRRRRRRRR0 -

Oh..I have a junk food addiction that has been going on for two weeks...Not good to be addicted to sugar again...Yuck. Also want a beer............no drinking allowed for me. Bummer. I am sure I will be posting in caps tomorrow myself when I start the lozenges and cut way back.

Question did someone here quit before for a month or more? I wish I weren't scared sh**tless to quit. I really need to know that this is worth it.
0 -
Well, I quit for 5 weeks a couple months back, but then I fell off again. Damn!! If I would have only had hung on, but I was too weak! Ok cleomoon, are you not sleeping? It seems like you are posting in the middle of the night?!?! I hope you are ok.
Janzin....please.....leave the poor kitty alone. My cat does that to me too, and then she runs sprints though the house, so I put her outside and she SCREAMS at me.....I love that darn cat.
How are y'all doing out there today? (Jules...I am talking to you in YOUR language....y'all).....

Well I hope every1 is good today. I hope we all made it through yesterday. YEAHHH I DID... almost didnt it was 11:45 i couldnt go to sleep and I was getting pi$$ed. I had a cig in hand actually I had it between my lips lighter in hand and I didnt know if i was more pi$$ed because my husband sat there smoking his cig giving ME a guilty look ( I wanted to take that cig and shove it in his eyeball ) or the fact that I have to stop for Freakin BC because surgery is in a wk and 1/2... GRRRR I wasnt mad this morning but now I am again.... OMG I cant imagine another day of torture like I had yesterday... but ohhh the joys of suffering... I am so sorry didnt mean to get snappy.... OK Tina just breath in out in out..... Good luck, fingers crossed, have a smoke free day.....I sound like a mean person and im never ever mean but I want a cig more then anything right now...

Hi ladies.
I am on day 19 now and here is what I have learned to date:
1. Quitting smoking is not a punishment. It is a gift we are giving ourselves each day. Remember that, first and formost.
2. Having said that, I had expected to feel immediately better after quitting, but honestly, it hasn't gone that way. Realistically, I had smoked for 30 years, so I can't expect to be back to normal so quickly. I do know I am not getting out of breathe as quickly and that my eyes aren't bothering me as much. I have had laryngitis for 4 weeks. My gp is sending me to an ENT today. I guess my body systems are out of whack. Also having acid indigestion frequently.
3. I do know that things will not get better by me smoking a cigarette.
Love you ladies,
Mary Beth
