Hi to everyone and welcome to the newbies  I have been reading all the post daily but I have not done well with the quitting thing. Trying again this week.  My exchange surgery is scheduled for Aug 11th so I have got to quit..  Still no pet scans yet, Dr said what's the problem...chemo should have done what it can do hopefully that was the primary site, but I keep thinking of Mary Beth (and no word from her lately scares me)

But  other than that I started herceptin ...tamox to start next week.

Janzin- logo's look great- I like the box one too. I also agree with someone who said maybe stick to soft colors other than pink. But whaqt ever your doing a great job.

That puppy is too quite.  We named out dogs by my son's favorite basketball players at that time.  Jordan was after Michael Jordan years back.  Jordan died sudenly when my son had a brain injury, so I immediately searched for a new puppy and by sheer luck I got a call from someone in Pa that Had heard about my son and the very next day we were driving 5 hrs to pick up our new Puppy.  Magic just seemed to fit, so  we named him after Magic Johnson for his continuing fight to save his life and  with my son new struggle....... all needed a little Magic.  ( and a lot of mom's prayers).  People rub Magic head for good luck now.  So you will suddenly know what to name you new puppy.

Pantufas you are so great and you stories are too.  Thank you for sharing and encouraging us when you can.

    Facebook- Did I miss something???

Welcome to all the newbies ..... you found the funniest bunch of womeN.

Malle--that is a great story about the puppies.  I love it.  Be sure you rub Magic's head for luck too before your surgery.

I tried to reach mbscruggs on facebook, but no luck.  I know Michelle tried to pm her, any luck?  I am worried.  I really hope what they found on her lung was not the lung cancer she was afraid of.  Same thing with Jules, I haven't heard from her in a few weeks too.  Just trying to keep up with all our great ladies out there!

    Love,

I hope Mary Beth is ok. Maybe you are taking some time off to digest all this news MB. Sending you good wishes. Jules where are you? Hope u are off on some good adventures rather than struggling with hard stuff.

Wow Janet your pup is really young. Hard to name her without having her home yet to get a feel for her personality. I even gave my kitties middle names and searched the meanings of names as if they were my babies. Really don't have many photos online need to figure out how to upload some and then post them here. Too complicated for me at the moment...LOL.

I got some sucky news last night. My basketball coach from middle school and high school died at 62. I started crying. Suprised me. Never know how much someone meant to you until you lose them. I haven't seen the man for over 25 yrs. I HATE LOSS and DEATH these days. Sure is a very difficult life task for me right now, to try to come to some semi-peaceful place, dealing with mortality of all the creatures and humans I love. I feel a sadness when I see a poor animal on the side of the road or even say rest in peace when I squash a bug. OOH it is so hard sometimes to be so sensitive. I have cracked open some cold beer to escape for awhile today. Not the best choice, but it does the trick temporarily.

    Love to you all today.

    Hi butt ladies!

I'm trying to keep up with all of the posts.  I read them and snort and laugh and then feel anxious about your bad news and triumph with your good news.  So glad to hear from you malleme.  What is it about boys and their heads.  Both of mine had some really close calls but I thank God that neither of them suffered any long term damage.  I take it your son is well now.  A boy must have his dog!

More worries about mb and jules!  I still say we need to have someone post for us if we are not able to.

Cleo, I too have recently lost several of my close friends and acquaintances from my younger days and it does hit hard.  It does make us more aware of our own mortality but nothing hit me as hard as the bc diagnosis.  My first thought was.  " How long do I have ?"  That is why I love Janzin's "dead pics" so much.  I guess it helps to have the same sense of humor but all of us has had to tap into courage we didn't know we possessed.  To be able to laugh in the face of it takes the most courage and that is what we are doing.  Not to mention some of the pics are so hilarious.  My favorites are the ones where Janzin still has the cig in her mouth!  Hope this explains the "dead pics" to the newbies.  It helps to be a little warped if you're with this bunch but we won't hold it against you if you're not.

I'm sorry I can't address everyone as they deserve but my lung is hollering at me.  I actually went to Wally today and that took a lot out of me even with my ds lifting for me.  I'm going to be "home alone" next week as she and BIL are going to NY to check on the house.  I know it's too early for me to take a trip like that so wish me luck taking care of all the moggies ( 23 plus Murphy ).  Only four of them are here.  The rest are at their house.  I owe you gals on Facebook replies and I will try to do that after I rest or more likely tomorrow.  I LOVE EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Oh.  Have to mention something about stop smoking.  So stop smoking.  There, I have done my civic butt duty.

Nancy, Pat, Susan  STOP THE INSANITY!!!!!!!  Tongue out

Hello ladies!  Well, I am not doing too well with my quitting today.  I have been keeping it down (less than 4-5 a day) but so far today, I have already had 4!!  GRRR, that makes me so mad when I give in like that.  I had to mow the lawn and I HATE mowing the lawn (which takes 3 hours) so every time I came in for a break, I chuffed one down.

How is everyone else hanging on?

Well.............Looks like I don't have a lot of catching up to do, lol. Not doing so well in the quit smoking but doing excellent in work. But haven't given up and will keep trying. They should come up with a new pill called discipline. That way you could quit smoking, diet and stay motivated for whatever need to be done, lol.

FIfish, with you on the pink. I never liked pink growing up either. I am with you on the quitting, I am not doing well but keeping it down too. Keeping it down is a step in the right direction though. Maybe we should rent a cabin in the mountains for a week.

Denise, dead pics are just to cheer us up. If they make you laugh, then it has done it's job. Though we could get symbolic with it. The great thing about laying down for BC pictures is that most anyone can do it. Way easier than walking 20 miles, etc. Makes for a cool way to donate, take your picture, post, donate, and hopefully the pictures will cheer some one up. By the way, funny with the pink and Pepto. Have no idea for a name, took me 6 months to name one of my cats last time, lol.

Butterfly, hope you are doing well. Are you taking a break or looking for a job?

Malleme, glad you are reading the post, I have missed you!  Great ideas for names, got me thinking. I love the name Magic!  I hope your son is doing better, is he okay now? You can quit before August 11th, we will help support you! Someone had wrote it took a year, I love that because it would be easy to give up but just to know that it can happen keeps one trying.

Pantufas, guess we will have to put you in the shopping cart for the Wally World adventure! But the good thing is you are not smoking anymore and your lungs have a better chance to heal. You have to get better because we will all get together soon and raise hell! BCBK gone mad, hahaha. If we do get together, we should do a dead pic at Wally World with shopping carts on top of us, cereal boxes everywhere, maybe some Cheerios coming out of mouths. A giant group would be hilarious!

Got a lot of work to do today, you are all on my mind.

    Much love,
    Janet

Well Janet, if you are cutting down then you are doing great.  That is why I am not beating myself up too much.  I am doing about 1/3 of what I use to smoke, if not less.  I want to rent a cabin in the mountains.  I have a sister that lives in Bozeman, Mt and she also have a log cabin a couple hours away, I would love to hit her up to use it!  She is a health fanatic so NO SMOKING there...heehee...

Love to all!  Off to go car shopping (ugh).....not by choice, one of our vehicles is on the fritz....more debt....great......oh well, things could be worse.

    Love to all!

Fifish, that is not a bad idea. Maybe if we don't quit by a certain time, we could meet there and do it together. Thing is I have to have Internet so I can continue to work. Does she have Internet? There cabins to rent here in Colorado with all the amenities but they are pricey.

    Anybody else in?

    Hi Ladies.

I have been thinking about you guys each day.  Ellie, thank you so much for finding me in facebook.  I still have a hard time finding me!!!

Things are moving pretty quickly here.  Met with a thorasic surgeon who scheduled me for a CT lung biopsy this Friday.  Today I had my expander removed and a gummy put in.  We needed the expander out so I can go to my 3 mris tomorrow and friday.  My surgery was supposed to be with augmentation and a smaller gummy put in on left, but that is where my mass is, so are putting that augmentation on hold.

I was a complete basket case the last week.  My onco did put me on zoloft, so am hopefully that that will level me out a little.  And at least we are moving in the direction of knowing what the deal is.  As sad as it makes me.  I still haven't smoked.  I did stop the chantix last week and can tell that my brain is thinking about smoking.

I hope each of you are keeping strong

Hi Ladies:  Got the green light to quit my habit starting first thing in the morning.  Doc told me to remember no drinking coffee when chewing the Nicotine Gum...thats going to be a challenge so will wait as per the instructions.  Been coughing so much more...think the mind is telling me to cough as a reminder of all the reasons I want to quit.

I started my 5 year plan on Tamoxifen today.  Doc and pharmacist also told me NO smoking when on this drug (if possible)...the both explained the risk factors, so that has added to my reasons on quitting the habit.

Going to be hard, so kick me in the butt if I scream.

    Love you all!

    Hi Nadine,

Good luck with your first day Smile

I put my lozenges by the bedside and plop one in my mouth before getting out of bed. I stay there for about 20 or 30 min til the lozenge dissolves. Then I get up and have my coffee. Not sure if that approach would work with the gum, but it does allow me to have my coffee and feel somewhat normal in my routine.

MB!!!!!! So happy to hear from you, was really worried. Sorry to hear that your recon is on hold. I your mris will turn out okay, please let us know how that goes. Awesome that you haven't smoked, that takes a lot of courage and strength. I hope you do not pick back up but remember this, it gets harder to quit every time. At least this is what I have heard and I believe them as I am struggling this time around. Sending you hugs and positive vibes!!!

O2Bhealthy, Good luck with your fills and chemo. Remember to get pain meds if the fills start to hurt. I will take care of your farm and pet during chemo! Not sure when we would go to the cabin or if it will happen, but I am sure we could get together after August 2010. How many days do you have in now? Hugs and positive vibes to you.

Nadine, I have smoked on the patches before. But we want to be careful when mixing. Will be sending you positive vibes for tomorrow, post when the urges get bad or rant and rave if need be.

Okay ladies, had to share this with you, our first use of our logo, BCBK. Had to get the RMBJJF shirt done early as we are using the shirt to help promote the guest stars for my tournament on October 17th. I am happy that it only took me a couple of hours to do the front and back. The back isn't finished as I still need to add the bc.org logo and add more sponsors as we get them.  I hope some of you will make it here in Denver for the tournament, we will have a BCBK booth and sell our own t-shirts, and hopefully raise a lot of money for bc.org. I will work on our BCBK stuff this weekend, I got hit my tournament biz this week.

    rmbjjf front

    rmbjjf back

Our theme for the tournament is " Make A Difference" Of course BCBK is making a difference by laying down for bc.

Let me know what you think of our logo on a shirt. Sweet dreams to all of you!

The rest of you it would be great to have you as a friend. Great way to see each other pictures, talk, play games together and keep up with each other. And I really love seeing your galleries, I have a face to go with the different names, lol. Maybe we will add that to our profile in our BCBK website, our links to facebook. Have to do myspace next week, not sure if I will have time for twitter right now, lol.

EEEK!  No twitter for me, facebook takes up enough of my time.

O2bhealthy, I am glad to hear you are doing ok.

Mbscruggs, thank you SO much for keeping us posted.  If you read through the previous pages of posts, you will see that you name came up often.  You have a lot of ladies out here praying and pulling for you.  Lean on us when you need to vent!

Janzin, you rock.  Those shirts look great and you are doing such a good job on the logo.  Nope, my sister's cabin does not have Internet (it is in the middle of nowhere).  We will find someplace....some time.  They also have cabins in the mountains in Tennessee for dirt cheap (seriously, like $110 a night!!)  Oh, how I would love to get to Denver to "lay down for BC".  Sell, sell, sell those shirts, it is for a good cause, as we all know!

Hugs to all, time for my walk.

    Love,

Day one and no smoke yet.  Was hard having my coffee and no smoke.  Was good and waited to have the gum per the instructions.  When hubby lit up my eyes went right to his smoke.  Went outdoors with my new cut fathom straw...was sucking away on it, this was after hubby left for work.  When I came back in the house I had my cereal, wanted a smoke after eating.  Think since its going to be so hot today I will deep clean on the house...doesn't need it however...a nap for sure that will take an hour or two of not thinking of a smoke.  Just need to stay busy and stop thinking of it...and keep reminding me why its important to continue to NOT smoke.  Got to stop thinking and do something else...slobbering on my straw, damn!

Hey all! Just wanted to get a quick post about a beautiful and moving dance performance that's on YouTube. Here's the link: [link removed by poster] Sorry about the non-functioning link. You'll need to run a YouTube search because Dick Clark Productions is working real hard to enforce their copyright infringement protections so clips are going up and being removed really quickly.

If see the clip of the dance and like it you can send the choreographer, Tyce DiOrio, a message on Facebook. I sent a message of thanks and appreciation for his very moving dance design.

Have kleenex ready. Be back later today.

Hi Ladies it is me Lisa, I blew it Saturday and I have smoked 1 1/2 packs since then. I am so maddddddddd at myself. Mom and I went to the ONC, Mom's tumor was a high grade 3 2,5 size stage 2 Doc suggested chemo and tamox, but Mom opted only for the tamox, said she does not want to go through it and I am scared, I love her so much. They did not do anymore scans after Mom surgery. I guess since her nodes were clear they feel they removed all the beast from her. I asked them about it and they said it was not needed at this time. I just hope they are treating her fairly she is 73 to them but she is my mother, and I so want her to OK. I would just think they would do a PET scan or something. So  I stressed myself right to the store and smoked. I am sorry for rambling, I will try to quit again August 1, in the meantime I will cut back until then. Thanks for listening much prayers , love and strength to you all. Lisa

I know this is short, but I am getting ready to leave....I just wanted to tell you all, I love you...hope you all have a wonderful evening...and I Believe in all of us...WE CAN DO THIS!

Go Nadine I have made it thru the day without any cigs too.  But I skipped my morning coffee and had a diet coke instead thought a change would help me.  Once my huisband got home from work he lit right up, I did get an urge but more mad than anything.  I did end up having my coffee at noon so I wouldn't get a headache.  I start Tamox on the 4th, with herceptin every 3 weeks, I didn't realize no smoking with those too.   I have my exchange surgery on the 11th so I was trying to quit for that.

Janzin looks great.  Oct 17th -????

O2B- Looks like your going thru my schedule-  you know you can get the herceptin every 3 weeks instead of every week.  I am so happy you did get the scans, my Dr  has only checked my heart. ARe you taking taxol or taxotere?

To everyone else I wish and pray for you and me to have a peaceful sleep and no smoking

Lis it's ok just  keep trying.  I keep starting and stopping and starting too.

malleme:  I am starting taxotere, cytoxen and herceptin on the 29th, I am on a clinical study so my schedule is weekly TCH, then H, then H (repeat for total of 4 cycles), after the last TCH, I will go on H every 3 wks until Aug 2010.  I will be getting my Neulsta shot the same day as chemo (part of the study? I'll have to ask my onc...) starting Tamoxifen in Oct for 5 yrs...CANCER the gift that keeps on taking...

It looks like you just finished Chemo so you are a bit ahead of me...almost same cocktail except for the 'C' and very similar treatment plan with the Herceptin and Tamox, we'll have to compare notes when I catch up to you :)

Yea for you on your Exchange next month...I consider that to the be the BIG milestone for turning the corner and really moving forward in this battle...no more irritating TE's and hopefully no more surgery (unless you want nips)...

Janiz: Logo looks great!!! Oct 17th...humm should be recovered from my last chemo...I'll have to see if I can convince family for a little drive north (I map quested it...its only a 14 hour drive)  :) Wouldn't that be a hoot!!!!

Butterfly: Hang in there honey...sent you a PM

Big Welcome to all the newbie's and Hugs and Love to all my BCBK friends!!!

PS... 79 days today :) not much longer and I'll be in the triple digits...

Nadine, hang on, you can do this.  I know it sucks, it really sucks.

Butterfly, so sorry you are having such a rough time.  You mentioned that your God is very important to you, so put these worries in His/Her hands.  After that, lean on the wonderful ladies here.

O2bhealthy, you are doing great.  Drive up for the event in Colorado!  14 hours isn't too bad.  I want to go too.  That would be a LONG drive for me though.  However, my dh bought (or should I say financed) a new car for me for my birthday.  SWEET!  I am 42 today and this is my first brand new car!  This thing gets 35 miles to the gallon, so maybe I could drive too!  Sealed  Although, I have decided that neither of us can smoke in the new car, so that would mean a LOT of stops from here to Colorado...heehee.....That trip would end up taking 4 days because of all the smoke stops...BAHAHAHAHA

Have a great day ladies.  I want a smoke with my morning coffee, so I am going to take a walk instead.

    Love to all!

    Hi Fellow Butt Kickers,

What about that logo?!  Janzin, you are amazing!  I don't use facebook much either Cleo.  Like you, I am still learning but I love looking at everyone's pics and reading what they have to say.

Thank you for the link DeniseM.  It has been a long time since I have seen anything quite so moving.   It sent a personal message to all of us bc sisters.  I have watched it several times and will do so again.

MB!!!!!!  So glad to hear from you!  Know that we love you and will give you all the space you need but will also be here for you when you need us.  Good luck with everything.  Am lighting candles and sending prayers your way.

Oh, sweet Butterfly.  I am praying mighty hard for you too.  Some times it's years down the road before we know the reasons for things that happen.  Keep your faith and don't beat yourself up about things you have no control over now.  Life is full of would have, should have and could have.  However, what is, is.  The fact that you are worrying shows how much you have grown.  Just do your best and take care of yourself.  That will give your mum the most peace of mind.

flfish, your idea about a cabin in Tenn. is great.  A group of us friends made a yearly thing out of us renting a cabin together in Gatlinburgh.  It's like the beach in the mountains with acres of outlet stores, restaurants, (bars too) and so many neat things to do.  We only did it for the weekend but with six of us sharing the rent, it only cost us $25.00 a piece.  We had three bedrooms upstairs and two downstairs and two bathrooms.  Us smokers stayed downstairs.  We used to have a great time.  Back then, all of us were married except me and my friend Audrea.  All of the husbands knew it was our " Ladies Weekend " and they were fine with it.  The cabins were pretty secluded and beautiful.  Actually, they are people's vacation homes that they leave in the hands of an outfit that does the renting for them when they aren't there.  Anyway, just a thought.  Great news about your new car fifish.  Tenn. would make a perfect test drive. lol

Nadine, I don't think you don't mean to but you always make me laugh.  You are so brutally honest. Slobber, drool or even foam at the mouth.  Whatever it takes to keep you off of the butts.  Hang in there.  You have conquered so much already!

malleme, good luck with your exchange on the 11th.  Sorry you are having to give up your coffee as well.  Wean yourself though because of the withdrawal giving you head aches.  Great news on your sans cigs.  I forget to count.

You are doing great too o2b!  I hope chemo goes by fast for you and malleme.  Remember to get plenty of rest and DRINK!!!!!!

Janzin, I know you are focused on your tournament now and from the looks of the T-shirt, it is going to be fantastic.  I hope you get oodles of money and recognition and everything else you deserve!  How is the sausage coming along?  She is such a cutie!  I wish I was close enough to babysit.  Sometimes Haney ( ds's dog ) wants to stay here with her aunt Baboo.  I like that because she always lets me know when someone drives up.  She is so smart.  I think she has an affinity with me because we are both blind in one eye.  The first thing she does with any toy I buy her is chew it's left eye out.

Sue61, it's good to hear from you.  Hope nobleanna, nervousknitter, looper, Lursa, 2NewBoobs, candie, jules, webwriter are all well and just busy.  If I have missed anyone, I hope you are okay  too.  REKoz!  Did you actually think I would forget you?!  My brains are scrambled, but I think you are on the verge of the wedding or not too long after.  Hope everything is (was) lovely.  Also thinking of your dear dad.

Well ladies, STOP THE INSANITY!!!!!!  If you can't then just cut down more and more.  We know you are strong.  The fact that you are here tells us that.  Just lean in and kick those butts!  Good luck and a great night to all of you.

Hugs and in Nadines' case, slobbery kisses,

    Nancy, Pat, Susan
