Pantufas:  I seem to ramble most of the time.  I am a person who would rather laugh than cry.  As far as being bruely honest...thank my Mom for that.  I also have a tendency to ramble...darn Mom used to get on me for that also.

Well my fellow Butt Kickers...I slipped.  I am going to switch to Chantix.  The gum is making me want a smoke more.  I called the pharmacy this afternoon and my GP called the script in.  The Pharmasist and I talked and Chantix won't interfere with my other meds.  I was smoking two packs a day before I started the Nic gum.  Today I have had 3 smokes.  The pharmacist told me that with the starter kit for Chantix you smoke for a week then no more smokes.  I am weak I guess...damn went two full days and the third day kicked me.  So I made myself a promise not to smoke more than a half a pack a day and NOT a pack or two packs a day.  I feel so damn pissed at myself...if I can fight BC why in the hell can't I fight smoking.  I am going to continue with my fathom smokes (straws) and my regular gum and so forth...I got this far and I am going to not allow myself to smoke more than a half a pack a day...CHANTIX  PLEASE WORK!!!!  I am still not driving because of the meds I am on, so DH will take me to get the script on Tuesday on his day off.  Don't give up on my ladies I am still fighting each smoke craving.

Nadine, we are with you as long as you need us and then beyond because you are our friend.  Good luck with the Chantix.  Hope you will be smoke free a week from when you begin.  Don't egg your self for what you haven't done but be proud of what you have.  From two packs to 3 smokes is a big accomplishment.  Keep your phantom straws handy and carry on.  I can't speak for the others but I fell off the wagon more times than I can count and I was up to two pack a day too.  I was smoking the cheapest things I could get my hands on which I'm sure didn't help my lung.  You are a butt kicker, Nadine.  Just keep on kicking!

Love to all of the butt kickers,

    Nancy, Pat, Susan

Hello Ladies, sorry I have been gone. Been working a lot and my internet was all jacked up, sometimes wouldn't work till 11:00pm. Yesterday I had a nasty Trojan to fix, fixed it than Comcast came by and my internet seems better, guess time will tell. Then I worked a booth last night, made some cool new friends like the boxing commissioner. Today is a lazy day, told myself I can do anything I feel like! I do need to quit, up to half a pack now. Amazing how easy it would be to fall back into your routine. Will work on it this week!!!

Nadine, you are doing awesome!!! I heard that the 3rd day can be a killer, stress does not help. I hope Chantix works well for you, it does help me with the physical part. But my mind is really screwy, lol. Hang in there and keep working it, would love to see a drooling dead pic!

AKA, nice to hear from you!!! Been a long time, was wondering how you were doing. How much time did you get in? Don't beat yourself up as this is a really hard thing to do, and worrying about your mom has got to be hard. That would be 4-5 boxes of phantom smoke straws!!!! This is the place for rambling, glad to be here for you. Please let us know what happens with your mom, will be sending you positive vibes and hugs!!

Butterfly, I am worried about you! We all have days where we are barely hanging on, this is the place to share your feelings and vent. But I have had days where I just want to stare at the ceilings all day. Please let us know how you are doing, as we are your cyber bc family and we will worry about you. You are one special person who is much loved here!! Sending you positive vibes and hugs.

Malleme, you are so nice because I think if my hubby lit up in front of me, I would throw a plate at him, lol. Change is good, thinking about buying teas to cut down on my coffee. Happy to see you work it, we will get there. Oct 17th I am having a grappling tournament with some of the proceeds going to breastcancer.org. I will hear back from a friend next week who has favors from the news channel. Planning on doing the largest lay down pic on the news. I will also have a bc but fondlers/kickers booth there to sell our shirts to help donate to bc.org, and of course, to lay down for bc on the news!!! Hope you can come.

O2bhealthy, I hope you are feeling okay. I hope you can make the drive. You will have a free place to stay. I have a special discount with one of the hotels but working on getting free lodging for my guests. You would be an awesome addition to the event, especially since you have 79 days in. Congrats!!!!! I will have to send you a cow, lol.

Fifish, you really crack me up with your BAHAHAHA. I picture that Asian guy on Happy Days because he would really BAHAHA, forgot his name. I Wouldn't smoke in a new car either. In fact, I might want a new car when I quit because mine is a disgusting ashtray. I hope you will come down!!!! Will email you some BCBK stuff this week. It's slowly coming together. Meet someone last night who had testicle cancer. I couldn't help but think to myself, " Lay down for weenies." Didn't tell him that one though, lol.

Cleo, glad you like the shirt. I can't wait to do the BCBF/K shirts. Nice meeting you on Facebook. I do a lot of business there plus I am hooked on the games.

Pantufas, I hope you are doing okay. I know you are in pain and not feeling like yourself. I can actually tell from your posts too as I have gotten to know you well. Glad you are posting though!!! How much recovery days you have left?  You will hopefully feel better by Oct 17th, I am hoping you can come out and do the lay down pic on the news. My sausage is doing well, that sounded funny, lol. Pretty creative taking the eye out. Are you still writing poems?

Well, that was a lot of catching up to do. Love to hear from the rest of you. Sending a sunny Sunday to all.

    Much love,
    Janet

Hi everyone. I am fairly new. Haven't posted much, but read a lot. I was diagnosed 5/08. Did 2 lumpectomies and radiation and I am doing just fine. I also started tamoxifen on 8/05/08 and that is the day I quit smoking and am still a non-smoker. I had smoked for 33 years and wish I would had done it much sooner although I did enjoy smoking. I quit cold turkey and I quit while my husband (who can't quit) was and is still smoking. So it can be done. It isn't easy, but I knew I had to quit because of the tamoifen. I hope everyone on here who is trying can do it and everyone who isn't trying I hope you do. I am so happy that I did. Good luck to all you ladies.

Welcome KK! Congrats on quitting. And you quit while your hubby still smokes, that is huge. I have a problem with my neighbors smoking as I know I can bum off of them. Thanks for your support, we could use any support or tips as some of us are struggling and others are doing better. But this is a great group. Met so many loving, supportive and funny women here.

    Love you all!!

Janzin: Thank you.  I knew that when I quit, I had to get my husband out of the house for at least 5 days. I sent him to the mountains and he was supposed to be gone 5 days, which would really get me over the hump, but they came back in 3. You see nicotine is out of your system in 72 hours, after that it is just the habit. I knew if I could quit for 72 hours I had a chance. When he came home in 3 days, I thought that I wouldn't be able to do it. But, since he smokes outside that helped. I made it to the 72 hours and I knew I had to quit. I think there is a big difference in wanting to quit and having to quit. My oncologist told me that getting blood clots while taking the tomoxifen were increased if I smoked. I didn't want that. Plus already having breast cancer, I didn't want to increase my chance of any others even more. I didn't smoke at work anyway, so my tough times were in the evening weekends. Each hour that went by was another hour on my side. After I got to about 2 weeks I knew I would never smoke again. There were times when I could have easily sneaked one, but I didn't. #1 I didn't want to go through those two weeks again and #2 I didn't want to cheat on myself. I was doing so good and I just didn't want to let myself down. You just have to say to yourself, "I want to be a non-smoker".

Hi KK, I want to be a non smoker! You are right about having the right mind set, I know I should but there is a part of me that doesn't want to let go. I got some grief sneaking cigs at the fight last night. I am going to try to quit before my next surgery!!!

Pantufas, that cabin sounds awesome. I hate to say that I need to bring my computer because of work. We all could check in together, lol

KK69Z:  You are a true inspiration.  I also MUST and HAVE to quit because of Tamoxifen.  I started smoking around 40 and sure made up for lost time.  I really appreciated your posting it sure gave me a boost in my mind.

Janzin:  I need to have DH take a dead pic...damn and all the weight gain...OMG.  Oh well no hair that shows, so a bald dead woman...I have to think of a real good place to have him take one.  Going to facebook and look at your pics again.  How is the website coming along?

kk69Z: Thank you for sharing your success story. Congratulations on quitting Smile

Nadine: Sorry the gum was not the right tool for you. I hope that Chantix works for you.

I am so frustrated that I am not yet able to quit. I literally feel physically sick from smoking so much the last two days. Wed I will start again with the lozenges. I am tired of letting cigarettes be the Master of my life.

Darn can't get the picture to show.

Cleomoon:  I am still doing the nic gum and hate to say it smoking.  I have smoked less than a half of a pack today a far cry from two packs a day.  I am waiting until DH is off Tuesday to drive me to the nearby town to get my Chantix.  I am not driving yet or riding my motorcycles, in part because of the meds mostly the sleeping pills I just don't feel comfortable driving yet.  I do want to go for a short ride on my motorcycles before winter sets in...guess I can only ride one at a time...darn.  Can you imagine a bald woman riding?  I don't wear my wig, could be a good time to loose it however.  Yup I am in a weird mood this evening, about half crazy I guess...way to much energy and yet chemo brain is in full force.

    Hugs to everyone,

    Nadine :))

KK69Z: You are right about having the correct mind set...I had tried a dozen times using all manner of help aides (went to hypnotherapy TWICE - I forgot the first time Embarassed) and even made it as far as two months...but I failed time and again because I really didn't WANT to quit.  Too bad it took BC to convince me to become a non-smoker...

Nadine: I hope you get to ride more then once before winter sets in...

Cleo:  I knew my quit date was coming and smoked so much I literally felt like I was going to throw up...by the time the quit date rolled around I was soooo done with cigs (for about two days) but I kept on...when you are ready you will be able to stick to it.

Janiz Another tip:  We aren't quitting smoking (if you quit something, you can always start back up again)...we ARE becoming NON-Smokers Laughing

    HUGS to ALL

To all on this thread. Please be careful with Chantix.  Been seeing a lot of bad things about that on the news lately.  Lawsuits etc.  Some of the side effects are suicidal thoughts.  Had a friend on Chantix and he said he had super freaky dreams.  But he was only on for two months.  Please research it and carefully make your decisions.

    Hi KK,

Thanks for the warning, so far I am doing good on it though I do have freaky dreams sometimes and I had 2 nightmares. The dreams are sure more vivid!

Have to move the rest of my stuff, what fun!

    Have a great day ladies!!!

O2bhealthy:  I sure hope I can ride before winter sets in.  Guess I won't have the wind blowing my hair around.

Kmarkou:  I was told that there are some serious side effects with Chantix.  I am on a anti-depressant because of chemo etc, so I hope it helps with the side effects of Chantix.  Been having severe hot-flashes and wild dreams and haven't started Chantix yet.  I know the anti-depressant that I am on one of the side effects is suicidal thoughts but no trouble with it.

Hope everyone is having a smoke free day.

    Hugs,

    Nadine :))

Good morning ladies.  Good reminder on the Chantix.  I will NEVER go on that drug again, I had terrible side effects, but a lot of people swear by it.  I guess it is different for each person.

What a great weekend.  My daughter came home to be with me for my birthday and boy did we have fun.  Thanks for all the facebook birthday wishes!  That was the BEST birthday I have had in a long time.

Breath deeply and get though Monday. Surprised

Cleomoon: I bet I would look funny for sure and with full dress leathers on and a bald head with earrings.  Not to mention the sunburned head...OMG that would hurt.

I start the Chantix tomorrow...I went to their website and did additional reading.  I figure at this point I can't sleep worth crap thanks to severe hot flashes.  I am going to give it everything I got and keep my fingers crossed.  I told hubby last night since I had hell with chemo I will hope its not that bad but if it helps me quit I am all for it.  I still have medicine for nausea so its handy if I should need it.

I also used Chantix. Did fine until I had to take the higher dose. It kept me awake all night and I had to get to work in the AM. That was the last I used that. None of the other stuff worked for me either. Good luck ladies.

Hi Ladies!  I Have CLEAVAGE!!!  PS put 125cc's in each TE bringing total to 275cc.

My DD just looked at the PS while he was pumping me up (doesn't that sound like I was a flat tire?) and said "Boy My Daddy is going to be real happy about this!" My PS busted out laughing and told her that she must have got her sense of humor from me...my hubby just blushed and agreed...

Afterwards we went school clothes shopping with kids and I tried on a few things...told hubby they were a little big but I would 'GROW' into them. He asked "how much are they going to fill you?" My answer "Till I say Stop!" with evil cackle...you should have seen his eyes...they were so big!

Any hidy who! I had fun today and am getting ready for Chemo on Wednesday Surprised

Lots of Love and Hugs to all!

Pantufas: Nothing like a good motorcycle story...plus takes the mind of of the urges to smoke.  DH and I was married in Sturgis SD during Bike Week.  We have been back a few times.  Riding behind my husband made me want to have my own bike...now I have two.  Nothing like riding and feeling free.  In our state we don't have a helmet law for anyone over 18.  As we have got a little older we wear helmets when going out of our small town...got to be safe.

Picked up my script for Chantix so guess I should open the box and read the instructions.  Going to start it tomorrow morning.

    Hugs to everyone,

O2bhealthy!!  I am so happy for you AND your cleavage!  How wonderful that you have your whole family there and everyone has such a wonderful sense of humor.  That must help the kids SO much to be involved and see what is going on.  You are a good mom.  I am happy for you!

I am sorry but when I hear the word cleavage I want to laugh.  A cousin of mine had the same surgeon 9 years ago.  She in a weird way thought it was cool we had a mast on the same side and the same surgeon.  I don't know how many times she has asked me if I have cleavage and how she does.  She calls often and always asks about cleavage.  I swear she is nuts.

Started the Chantix this morning...to early to tell about side effects.  Smoking no more than a half a pack a day until the FINALquit date.  Gave up the gum and can't take it with Chantix anyway.  Hell or high water this has got to be it.

Thanks to the hot flashes I guess a cold wash cloth on my head is in order.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day,

    Nadine :))

Well, ladies, you asked for it.  I'll start with the beginning and then later on work up to the more recent ones.

It was 1968 or there abouts.  I was 15 yrs. old and had been left home alone by my parents who had taken my brothers to the beach.  This was one my my mum's reconciliation tours which didn't last, they never did.

It was summer and it was hot and I was tired of hoofing it to my best friend's house which was three miles away.  Besides that, ''walking" was just not done in those days.  I was sitting on the couch one morning, gazing through the sliding glass door, thinking about wheels when I espied my younger brother's motorcycle sitting out in the yard.  EUREKA!  He always left the key in it because we lived on top of a hill surrounded by cow pastures and my German Shepherd wouldn't let anyone in the yard.

I check to make sure, and yes, the key was there.  Now.  What do I do for a license plate? It just so happened that my brother's favorite cereal was including, in the box, a miniature replica of the license plates of each of the states.  So far he had Texas.  It was the exact size of a real motorcycle plate so I screwed it on and went to look for his helmet.  I had ridden with my boy friend enough to have a rudimentary knowledge of the gears.  I knew where the clutch and gas were, never mind that I didn't have my license or had ever driven anything.  Surely it couldn't be much harder than a bicycle!  We always had to listen to dad ham on about road safety and common road courtesy and I knew the rules were the same for a car as they were for a bicycle.

Well, I made to Dodie's house in first gear.  It was a country road and there was hardly any traffic.  I picked Dodie up and asked her cousin about the gears.  He told me the opposite of what it should have been so as soon as we made it to the road and I proceeded to let her out, I flipped the dang thing, leaving me sprawled in the gravel and dust and flinging Dodie off into a briar patch in the ditch.  I had to jump up to cut the motorcycle off and check on Dodie.  She had some pretty good scratches but she was game to try again.  I got the gears right this time and we took it all of the way to Bat Cave and back.  For those who don't know, this is a winding mountainous road.  I never laid it down again and by the end of the week Dodie's dad had me taking his 650 BSA out by myself.  We had the time of our lives that Summer until my parents came back.  That is another story.

Sorry if this wasn't what you expected, but I had to start at the beginning.  Hope everyone has a wonderful day.  Strength to those trying to quit, and those facing chemo and surgery.  I think it's time to take another nap.

    Love you all,

    Nancy, Pat, Susan

Pantufas:  Loved your story.  Reminded me of my childhood.  Okay I will tell one about my little sister...you know the kind straight A's but dumber than a rock....we had a few cows and there was always one getting out.  As my parents and I are trying to get the darn thing back in...my sister decides to help us out.  Never rode before but she had seen Dad and I and figured she could do it.  Somehow she got it started and in first gear goes and goes....the bad thing is she didn't know how to stop it.  She had it full throttle yelling as loud as she could and meantime Dad and I are laughing so hard and totally forgot Mom is still chasing this stupid cow.  Mom falls into a ditch and her glasses fly off...now she is cussing like a trucker. (Never knew she new so many cuss words).  Mom is running into the house to get a gun, she says she is going to shoot the cow.  Dad and I stop laughing at my sis because at this point we think she is going to shoot us.  We get Mom calmed down and get her convinced shooting the cow wasn't a good idea...mean time my sis is still full throttle and yelling.  We forget about the cow briefly and Mom, Dad and myself take off in opposite directions yelling at my sister and trying to tell her how to stop.  A pure miracle happened and she ran out of gas.  Dad was so glad he hadn't filled the tank.  My sister never rode again until she was in her 40's.  And now she will only ride a Honda 90.  She thinks I am nuts for riding the larger motorcycles.  Sure cinch I will never let her ride my bikes.

Ok one last story...Dad had a killer of a bike and he had talked and talked to Mom trying to get her to learn to ride.  Finally one afternoon he convinces her.  He shows her everything on the bike and finally she feels she can start it and go slow.  Heck no, she started it, gave it to much gas, dropped the throttle and BAMN in one jump is in the neighbors flowerbed.  My sisters and I were watching in disbelief on how she could fly so far so fast.  Luckily she wasn't hurt and she never had any desire to ride a motorcycle big or small again.

    Hugs to everyone,

    Nadine :))

Oh Nadine!  You gave me such a good laugh!  You reminded of the time I got so mad at one of the cows I threw a pitchfork at her like a javelin and it stuck in her side.  You should have seen me trying to run and grab it as she was bucking her way down the free stalls.  Luckily, it fell out.  Your sis running out of gas is priceless!  If we keep on we'll be trading bulldozer stories.  Not to mention the time when I was pregnant with Flarbio and one of the goats, who was chained to a cinder block, got her chain tangled around my leg and drug me off into the manure pit.

Hey flfish, glad I gave you a giggle.  Would love to see you reading Nadine's story!

We will be glad when you come back, Cleo.

Good night to all of you fearsome ladies.  Hope Janzin gets her pc probs fixed.

    Love ya bunches,
