Dutchy,
Yep! Did my walking today.... Another 2 miles (on the treadmill today)! Not what I WANTED to be doing but what I HAVE to do!!!! Felt really good after!! Have to keep that feeling in mind when I don't feel like it!
LOL at the it's not the pace that matters... My son (who just got his license) always makes fun of me because I am not a really fast driver! We were on the highway and, I kid you not, a HEARSE (with a casket in it) passed me! My son looked at me and said, 'Wow Mom, are you kidding me??!'
Whatcha gonna do??
I'll just keep chuggin' along and I figure ANY effort will be better than none!!

Barbara,
OMG!!!! I checked out the web site for your cruise and holey moley!!! Your suite is a far cry from the cruise that my husband and I took (back when we were dating... sooo eons ago)... The inside suite that we had was so small that if you dropped the soap in the shower you had to step out of the shower and out of the bathroom so as to have enough room to bend down to get the soap (and there was soooo much less of me to fit in that bathroom back then!).... BUT, WHAT A GREAT WEEK... We both thought we had died and gone to heaven!!
You will have SUCH a GREAT time!!!
Jennifer
PS.... Noticed that your suite has 2 bedrooms... We would be available that week if you need someone to fill the second one .... Just sayin'!

Jen, nice try but we got the one bedroom one. I have been getting good bonuses for the past three months and socking those away so WTF? I almost dies and may yet die from this crap so I am going for it. Have no kids to leave $$ to so here we go. Pix will be forthcoming.
PS. Last cruise we went on was 299 each. Nice but this will be REALLY noce.

Jan,
I will be thinking of you on Wednesday and hoping that those drains come out!!!
Congrats on the 3 weeks!!! You are really doing well!
You are right. Waiting for test results is awful. Hoping that you get your OncoType back soon and that it is LOW LOW LOW!!!! Regardless of the results, know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and that you WILL get through whatever you need to and we will be here to help you if needed!!!!

Barbara: Jealous!! Have fu
Ladies, I'm in the hospital, I've been here since last Wed. night. Long story short, I'm in the middle of chemo, starting running a fever, and am on IV antibiotics waiting on the results of my F*ing blood cultures. They won't let me go home until they know exactly what bacteria they are dealing with and which drugs would best treat it at home. And my bacteria is apparently a slow grower. Excuse the language, but I am so sick of being here. And, yes, I guess it's getting easier for me (not smoking) because I haven't even thought of having one even though I've been bored, pissed, weepy and every emotion in between. I know one thing, if I was still a smoker, I'd be a bitch on wheels if I'd been suddenly thrown into forced withdrawal! So, I am soooo glad I had already quit.

Oh Bama, If I was in BHam, I'd come hang w/you. Nothing is worse than being in the hospital. I had emergency surgery for a perforated ulcer and had a 9 inch incision on a Sunday and hated being there so bad, I checked out on Friday. I recovered much quicker at home. Hopefully they can figure out what the bug is so you can go home and recover. ((((HUGS))))))

Barbara: Whoo HOO on your Silver Seas cruise...we love cruising and can't wait to hear all about it!
Bama, sorry you are going through this infection. Prayers are with you for a quick recovery!
Seaside: Thanks for the wishes on low oncotype. I'm hoping to hear this week sometime. GRRRR, the wait...
Talk later ladies

Oh Crap Bama!!!
So sorry to hear about your infection! No need to excuse your language! Being in the hospital does REALLY suck.
I used to work in a micro lab in a hospital. Some of those buggers do take awhile to grow but, even though it's hard to wait, they should be able to see exactly what is making you sick and have an idea of what medications will work best to get you better!
Just sure wish they could let you go home in the meantime while they figure it out but, I suppose that would be hard with the IV!
I know it doesn't make it any easier for you but, please know that I am thinking of you!
And you are right.... Bitch on wheels wouldn't have even touched the surface if I had been forced into instant withdrawals in the hospital!

It is really hard to quit smoking that is why there are many therapies nowadays. One is the cognitive behaviour therapy and I heard from other patients that this really an effective way.0

((((JANCIE))))))) You poor thing! I gave up riding after the 6th bone break. I loved it but my parents were tired of spending weekends in the ER. LOL. Seriously, I did give up competition but I still ride for fun a couple times a month.
Keep it up! 4 days is good!

Just back from the PS and drains are out but I have to have surgery tomorrow morning at 7:30 for the wounds. Apparently they are not healing well and need to be cleaned and restitched. Hopefully no more drains.
I will keep you posted tomorrow.
This is not a surgery in the hospital it is in a Surgicare facility and it is not general anathesia, just an anethesia that relaxes you.
Please pray these wounds heal!
Thanks

Oh Jan!!
I was wondering earlier today how it went with the drains. I am glad that they are out but, so sorry that you have to go in tomorrow to have the wounds taken care of.

Jancie,
I have heard about the crazy dreams on Chantix! Hopefully they don't get too bad!
Congrats on 5 days done! I think you may be selling yourself short though!! Haven't gone back to check but, I think you were here for a couple months!! Of course, I had just quit so maybe it just just seemed like a couple months...lol...
In either case, glad to have you back!

Seems like lots of us are having issues! I'm home. My onc came in yesterday morning and he was pissed big time; he said 'those inffectious disease people should have had us an answer 2 days ago, I'm discharing you myself' and he let me come home with IV antibiotics. The home health folks came out and showed me and DH how to do it. I wish I had known this was an option. I would have been lobbying to go home as soon as I was fever free, which was Saturday!
Thanks everyone for the hugs and prayers. Everybody hang in there.

{{{{BAMA}}}} Glad you are home. HATE HATE HATE hospitals, filthy places. Home is good. YAY!

Bama,
SO glad you are HOME!!!!!! Nothing better than being in your own bed! Have they figured out what is causing your infection?
You are right in that quite a few of the ladies on this thread have run into some difficult times! Hope all of you are doing better or will be doing better shortly!
Prayers and HUGS to you all!

Surgery this morning went well. Incisions look so so much better, but I have a drain UGH!! I think only for a few days though.
Thanks for the thoughts...
And he 'deflated' me a bit too - but that's ok..all in due time.

Thanks Barbara:
I'm a little disappointed I have to start from square one but the expanders are in great shape so I won't lose them.

Jan,
Glad to hear that you are OK and that they were able to clean up those incisions! Sorry that you now have a drain back in (Ugh, is right!) but, hopefully it's only for a couple days.
Thank goodness that your expanders were not compromised!
I know these set backs are SO hard but, do remember they are temporary. I know that is so hard to do when YOU are the one going through the problems but, do know, you have people who care and are hoping for smooth sailing for you from here on out!
Hang in there!

Thanks Jennifer:
And thanks to all the support I have gotten here.
It's been a very difficult week for me. First the additional surgery, and he deflated me UGH...so cleavage is minimal.
Still waiting for oncotype test (should be the 18th now) and I think once I know that result I can move on and take care of business so to speak.
God Bless you all and again thanks for the support!
Best of luck to all and may you have a healing hand on you and a smile on your face.

Jan,
Sorry you had to go back into surgery but it sounds like your situation was improved. Are you going to get implants or the DIEP?
