Jan,
Having that chemo or not decision over and done with was a BIG relief to me as well!! Seems like no matter what the path I have taken was, once the decision was done, the 'walking' became easier! Hope the same is true for you!
Hoping that they can get back on track with your reconstruction soon!
I am from a small town in upstate NY... How about you?

OK Ladies,
One LAST post tonight!
Had my mammo/US today and waited for them to be read and the results (subject to review by my doctor) were..........................................
BIRADS 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Totally benign!!!
This after a BIRADS 3 at my 6 months mammo/US. I am OVER THE MOON HAPPY!!!! Still have the results of the MRI from Monday, BUT, I do have every reason to believe that it will be OK as well (although a small part of me is still worried until the results are in and the call comes that says, All is Good)!
Thank you all for your prayers!
Just SO happy! And, for tonight, all is right with the world!!!!
Hope all is well with all of you!

Seaside - so happy for you!!!!
My news is...mixed!
I had US of carotid artery and thyroid last week and got the results today. The Carotid's look great, no plaque or blockages. The Thyroid came back with a cyst on the left and 2 solid nodules on the right (the largest with microcalcifications). I am having a biopsy on Monday to rule out the big M (always scary seeing malignancy on any medical report). I am not too worried (yet)...I figure it will either be B9 or not, my life is is God's hands and I trust Him fully to see me through what ever the outcome may be...but boy is nice to now I can come here when I get fearful and know that my friends here totally understand.

Oh, O2B!
I am so sorry that you are having to go through yet another issue! Geez, when it rains it truly DOES pour!
I DO know that these tests are SO hard to have to go through. Hang in there! And, YES, we DO totally understand what you are going through and will be here for you!!
As I told my (college age) daughter when she called having some difficulties, worrying about tomorrow will not change your tomorrow but it WILL ruin your today! I now have to work on taking my own advice!
Will be thinking of you on Monday!!

Jennifer, so glad to hear your results were good. I am so thrilled for you. I hate that you have to go through all that worrying and am glad that you continue to be smoke free. And yes we have been here for each other and know that I am still here sometimes just reading other times writing a bit.
O2B, Sorry that everything did not turn out as you had hoped for. Please know that I am praying for you.
It has been over a month since my surgery and I continue to be amazed at how well I am healing. I am ready to go back to work but have decided not to go back until the 6 weeks are up. My Aflac is finally going to come through for my short term disability policy and will be glad to have the extra money. I plan on buying some new bras and clothes to fit my improved body. I am still waiting for the swelling to go down on my stomach as I believe it should be a bit flatter. If it does not flatten out more I at least know that it will with the DIEP's stage 2 which should be sometime around Christmas or the New Year.
{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} to all you and keep up the good work of not smoking. It continues to get better everyday.

today has been a crappy day. i think i am going through withdrawals because i have not been able to drive hence i have not seen my horse. dh said he would drive me up there tonight - 1 hour drive each way. i have an appt with the orthopedic surgeon on mon and a therapy appt on wed. i need to get back to a normal life. for the first time in 2 weeks i actually craved a smoke but i think that is due to depression setting in and the weather changing.

Jancie, Sorry you are having such a bad day but the good thing is "You did not smoke"!!!!!

((((JANCIE))))) you didn't do it!! Victory for you!!!
LOve to all, I've been fighting flu. Throwing up, sore throat, ugh.

Jancie: Hang in there and just try to remember that a cigarette is not going to make a crappy day one bit better. It would make it worse because you'd feel bad about falling off the wagon. You can do it.
I'm home from trip #2 to the hospital. Maybe I'll get to stay home this time!

thanks for the support. i feel better now that i got to spend time w/ my horse and then dh and i drove over a beautiful mountain pass. i confided in dh that it was a rough day but i did pull out of it.
jennifer - what am i going to do for day 17? i found out that i have an appt w/ the orthopedic surgeon that morning and i might have to drive myself which means access to 7-11. that was the day i planned on staying in bed all day w/ ativan at my side.
barbara and evelyn - thanks so much for the kind words.
bama - glad you are home from hospital for the 2nd time.

Dutchy,
I am REALLY AMAZED at how fast you have healed! I know when I had my consult for DIEP when I was considering a BMX and they were saying how fast you would heal, I definitely had my doubts when I saw what the surgery entailed. I am so happy to find out that they were telling the truth!
Do not rush back to work even though you are probably climbing the walls now that you are feeling better! I think maybe one reason that you have been healing so well is because you have been able to rest when you need to! All that work will be waiting for you when you go back to work and with the extra couple of weeks to gather your strength, you will be better able to do your job!
Jennifer
PS. Got the results of my MRI today and it was also completely normal!! I am now 'good' for the next 6 months! You mentioned a Stage 2 to your reconstruction. What does that involve? We didn't get that far in the consultation that I had.

Welcome Home Bama!!!!!
Have they figured out what in the heck is causing your fevers?
You have struggled with SO MUCH more than you should have to deal with!!! I hope and pray that this time you are home for good and can continue with your treatments!
Thinking of you!
Jennifer
PS... Give those pups a hug from me!

Welcome Angelice!
Having stopped smoking for 3 months is really great!! The first weeks are the hardest and you have already gotten past that! You should be very proud of your accomplishment!!
I think you will find that the group here is very supportive and will be very helpful to you!
Wishing you continued success and hoping to hear more from you soon!

((((((Barbara)))))),
Hoping you're feeling better! I can take most illnesses but the "cookie toss" (as my kids call it) is REALLY the pits!!!
Get well SOON!

Jancie,
Here's what you're going to do! You are going to go to that appointment and IF the urge to stop at the 7-11 kicks in you are going to dig down deep into the stong-willed woman that you ARE and fight that urge!
I think you are a whole lot like Jazzy! Lots of spunk, a bit of a wild side and not easily contolled! Use that to your advantage. DO NOT let the cigarettes control you!
If I could drive to Utah and take you to your appointment I would! Next best thing is for you to know I am thinking about you!
You CAN do this!

Jennifer: Thanks for the hugs. They don't really know what was/is the source of the fevers. They thought I had a port infection, then they thought my left breast/tissue expander may be the problem (there was fluid around it that had to be drained, but the fluid came back clear of infection). I don't know if they'll ever know what it is/was, I'm just glad to be back home with the hubby and puppies.
Seaside: Congrats on the scans!!

O2B,
Just wanted to let you know that I will be thinking of you tomorrow and praying for good news on your biopsy! Did they give you any idea how long it will be before you have results?
Hang in there! You are OVERDUE for some good news!

Best of luck this week with your upcoming tests, scans and surgeries!
Also, congratulations on all those who got clear scans and tests this past week!!
I have an appt with PS on Tuesday (I think I love him) and hopefully he'll removed my stitches and let me know when he will start to fill.
Thanks to all for your support and encouragement...34 days smoke free!

Jan,
Farthest south we've been on the NC coast was when we took a day trip down to Wilmington to tour the USS North Carolina. We've thought about trying Bald Head Island but, that might be a little too secluded for us. We have been very happy with our stays in Topsail and haven't had a reason to tear ourselves away !
Is Kure Beach as uncrowded as Topsail?
You and Barbara are so lucky to live near the water!
Have a great night!

Congrats on your scans..I lost track of that post somehow.
I still have stitches from my 2nd surgery so I'm hoping he removes those and gets the filling on the way.
Have a great evening!
