OK Sandra it looks like you and me tomorrow for exchanges. I just had my telephone pre-op phone call and after 2 PM I can call my PS office for my time on the OR slate. Can't wait! Really, I am just so ready to get this over. I had a PT appt. today and he thinks my body is totally ready too. He cautioned me that I will feel like I have been run over by a truck for 10 days and he really knows my pain tolerance which is good normally. We will see but it is good to know that it won't be as bad as the mx with axillary dissection. I still have lots to do at home today but may just procrastinate and not worry. A friend is picking me up after and staying the weekend so that is all taken care of. Looks like snow but not like Alberta and the mid west.

    :) Marian

Sandra - oh honey......to have trouble getting the PICC line working when you're already so nerved up must have been awful! I'm so glad the problem was resolved. You have certainly done everything you could to make sure this surgery goes smoothly. You certainly have my prayers that surgery is successful, recovery is painfree and complication free and that you are giddy with happiness a couple days from nowSmile.

Marianelizabeth - are you having fat grafting with your exchange or maybe a lot of pocket work done? I can't imagine why you would feel like you were run over by a truck for 10 days after exchange. I had some minor pocket work but never needed any pain reliever after I got home that day.

Had my pre op appt with PS today. Was moved up 2 weeks, my xchange is in 5 weeks. Still going with the anatomicals, he said theyre as wide as the te, but move, so there wont be as much to the side, and the cleavage should be ok. Said when I see him after he will see what bra he recommends for recovery- I was a little surprised he is saying I should wear one for recovery. But also said he recommends one even later- because they will sag, as it is my own skin. So that will be interesting. Felt rushed thru the appointment, but managed to ask most of my questions.

Aviva- You Jen and myself were all at his office yesterday, LOL. So what is the new date for your surgery? When I went I asked about wearing a bra and he said no need to. And I think he said the same to Jenn. So I am guessing here, but it seams to me with most of the posts Ive read is that bras are recommended for the anatomicals, but not necessary for the rounds.

Wishing easy surgery and quick healing to Sandra and Marian

sweetandspecial~~yes fat grafting and also an augment on the other side. It will be what it will be and if it easier with less pain that will be a bonus.

marianelizabeth--I also had a uni mx. I thought the mx felt like being run over by a truck but the exchange felt like being run over by a bicycle! I didn't have fat grafting but I did have a lift/augment on my native side too. I think you'll be surprised by how little pain you may actually have!

Thats interesting itd be for rounds only. I dont regret our choice, but Id like to skip a bra. Anyway, my surgery is still Jan 10-= my original pre op was Dec 19, but they called yesterday to move it up because of them scheduling a procedure of some kind on the 19th. He didnt seem concerned about it being 5 weeks out. So in 5 weeks Ill be groggy coming out of surgery!

Hmmm, maybe that's why I didn't have to wear a bra after my saline implants. Guess I'll find out tomorrow when I get the new gummy implants. Will let you know what the PS says. I'm going to ask him why there is such a difference of opinion by doctors.

Sandra and Marianne will be thinking of you tomorrow. It will go great. It will go great. It will go great. (Thought I'd stay with the three thing... LOL) doing my best to stay calm here. They will be removing my port too. So i would need a pic line if it doesn't go smoothly. I hate the dangle things! My infectious disease Dr. Did not recommend abx after the sx for me unless I get a fever. I'll get abx during the sx but not later. Keeping my fingers crossed. I keep a sheet over me when I sit down and keep the sheet over my chair when I am not in it so cats only walk on sheet not on me. He also cleans the litter. He also offered to take me to a hotel for a week but I told him the germs at my house I am used to. Ok. Time to stop thinking about it.

A viva I am glad you got in earlier. Hope it comes fadt. Much love.

Best wishes to all with upcoming exchanges!! You'll be so glad!

BTW, I have silicone rounds and my PS said to get them in a good supportive bra ASAP, so it's probably more of a PS difference than an implant difference.

Will be thinking of everyone going in for procedures.

I have Allergan 410 anatomicals - the original gummies - and my PS said I'd never have to wear a bra again. He also said NOT to massage. Interesting all the different approaches.

Good luck, ladies.....hang in there. It's always so stressful to go to surgery. Well, not for everyone, but it is for me! Think positive, healing thoughts. I will pray for you, too! Please let us know how it goes....you will be in our thoughts and we can't wait to see you on the other side...or I guess they say "the squishy side"!!! YAY!!!

A few weeks ago I had fat grafting above each implant to repair divots. Lipo was from outside legs and inner thighs....certainly tender and bruised feeling. One side of the fat grafting developed abscess which resulted in a large, painful, discolored hard knot. It was lanced a couple of times and finally a Penrose drain (small tube, no bulb) was inserted and I was given a couple of rounds of 2 antibiotics (until I had allergic reaction of itchy rash and had to discontinue during 2nd round). It is looking and feeling much better now, and appears that even with the difficulty the divots will be corrected. I am sharing this not to alarm anyone, because my PS says this is extremely rare and the other side was perfect from the beginning. Just wanting to share that as he says, everything is fixable. This was just another bump in the road.

I have also been told to wear a good support bra day and night because even implants can eventually stretch out the pockets and create sagging. Also, I was told to switch out different style bras so that the pockets were not molded to the shape of just one certain bra.

Another question for you ladies that have had your exchange awhile ago. after the drop and fluff does that mean that the implants will be a little softer? I have the silicone rounds and yes they are softer then the dame TEs but still feel a bit tight and wondering if they will softer up anymore

catey - I'm at the four month mark post exchange with silicone rounds. While they are still much firmer than the originals I think they have softened up quite a lot since exchange. It's been gradual, though, not something you really notice day by day. I sometimes wonder if the level of softness may have anything to do with your level of pectoral muscle tone. It would seem logical that strong, toned pecs would keep things feeling firmer than pecs that aren't as strong or toned.

Just stopping in to say good luck to everybody on the surgery docket.

I know I will never do lipo again. Too painful.

Not sure how I feel about my foobs yet

good luck on the upcoming exchanges!

So interesting about all the bra talk. I feel a little small after the exchange but I've been wearing the molded genie bra instead of a sports bra and it seems to add more "fluff" and makes me look a little bigger. Funny how I use to use minimizers and now I'm trying to pad myself up!

    catey,

Mine took a few months but they got quite soft eventually. I think it happens gradually as everything relaxes and settles into place.

The donor site for your fat grafting isn't painful. I am in so much pain from the lipo sites.

So far so good. Surgery started just after 08 and done by 1000, home not long after 1 PM. Some N/V when I was getting dressed and as I got in the wheelchair to leave. I got back in bed and the nurse gave me a Gravol suppository and another to settle my stomach and nothing since. She also gave me a second Percocet since I vomited the first and I took that when I got home. Slept a bit and just ate a banana. Definitely pain both sides but I am sure the Emtec I got a prescription for will do the trick tonight.

I got compliments from the nurses on how good they look and they said they see lots and mine are great. Nice to hear after all this.

The fat grafting donor site is on the left side of my abdomen and I can't feel that yet.

I am hoping all went well for Sandra.

marianelizabeth...SO great to hear you are home and on the healing side! Take good care of yourself, don't overdo it (you don't want to undo that beautiful embroidery that is holding you together while you heal!!). Keep us posted as you heal. I am curious....when you have this as a "same day" thing, when do you get bandages off/follow-up with Dr?

Looking forward to hearing from Sandra, too!

Small bandages on with the surgical bra on 24/7. Bandages off when I see him and I have to make that appt. on Monday.

marianelizabeth - so glad it went well for you. Well.....except for the NV thing. I've had half a dozen surgeries in my lifetime and have never had a problem with that (actually, I haven't vomited since morning sickness with my last pregnancy 25 years ago).  I guess maybe the standard here is to put something in the IV to combat that.
