    Great news Sandra!!!!!

Moon,  have you tried scar away strips.....they have always flattened my scars.......I was very skeptical about them working, until I tried them.....AMAZING!!!!!!

(I cut them and that stretches the box of 8 strips, so they last a lot longer....a box cost around $20.00

Bio oil did not work on my scars for me.....but have been using it on my face, arm & leg....since I get dry itchy skin in winter.

    hugs,

    Di

    Good luck tomorrow, Elsie!

Di, glad to hear your surgery went well and that you're not in too much pain. Did your doctor put you in compression garments? For some reason fat grafting has me really nervous!

Bio Oil didn't work for me; it made me itch. I've been using emu oil, which is great at moisturizing, but hasn't done much for scars. I still have some hard little bumps along my incision lines.

Thank you everyone! For some reason I am nervous about tomorrow. Haven't had this feeling with the prior surgeries.

    Andrea,

I brought two different compression garment into the operating room...but they weren't on me after surgery in the post op area, but when taken to my private post op room,  all my clothing, was in a bag , the nurse offered to help me dress....but I did it on my own and chose which compression garment I was going to wear home,it s like a tube (easier to go potty by just pulling it up.....looks like a black very tight mini skirt.

Elsie, I was just like you, REALLY apprehensive before my exchange surgery. I couldn't sleep so I got drugs. But then when I slept I had nightmares. From what Whippetmom says on Breast Implants 101, your reaction is very normal. It helped me to know that. Still couldn't sleep, but at least I knew that wasn't too weird.

I think the exchange surgery is so much more nerve racking because you know your going to wake up with breasts, but you have no idea what they are going to be like! With the MX surgery you knew you wouldn't have much when you woke so you really weren't expecting much. I was a basket case at exchange!

I had the toeless compression socks and the leg wrap air machine both surgeries...to help prevent clots. I kept the socks to use when I start jogging again :)

I am 2 1/2 weeks out and the left side is still a bit larger all over. I keep hoping it's still slightly swelled and will go down a bit more since I can't make the right side larger...lol. I have some serious skin sensitivity at the edge of the armpits and along that curved bra line going up towards the shoulders, But other than that I feel great!

Continuing to keep everyone in my prayers for quick and uneventful recoveries.

I am so glad.  It sounds like everybody is doing well.  I wish I was doing the same.  I still have the tightness and I am becoming depressed, I think.  I will guess I better ask for something to help with that.

Keep up the good work.  Keep getting better.  That means there might be hope for me!!!!

Goldie, see if your doc can recommend someone for you to talk to. That helped me SO much. I found a psychologist who was worth her weight in gold. No meds were needed.

That tightness is normal. Some of us have it longer than others. Don't let depression drag you down. I know how you feel. I was there only a couple of days ago, so sick and tired of being sick and tired. So tired of pain, no matter how mild it was. I didn't WANT to have to endure it any more. It was a real pity party but I wanted to wallow in it awhile. Go ahead and wallow for a little while. Then tomorrow find someone who can help you. Hugs to you, sweet friend.

Sandra, that is great advice for any of us at any stage of this game.  I think I shall be done 'wallowing in it', and get on with life!  Happy healing to everyone having exchange surgeries!!!

I am thinking mine may be within a month or so....trying not to think about it, yet!

Di, which compression garments did you buy? I have an appointment with my PS on Monday to discuss fat grafting and removing the bulge on the top of my right breast, and I want to start getting my ducks in a row.

    Hi Ladies,

    I have a question.

First of all my exchange surgery was December 5th. I am 4 weeks out from surgery. Most of the swelling has gone down and incisions are healing nicely.

My question is: Will I always have to wear a sports bra? Any other bras I have tried so far make my foobs pull and get very uncomfortable and almost make my arms go numb. I put on a sports bra and feel much better instantly. I don't want to wear sports bras forever. I want my pretty bras back. My PS said no underwires for 3 months and after 3 months wear underwires sparingly. I am trying to find pretty non-underwire bras and am having a tough time doing that. Can't afford to keep buying bras and finding out they won't work. Most stores will not take bras returned. :( Any suggestions?

    Thank you.

    Reality,

My best suggestion is to go to Nordstroms and meet with a certified mastectomy fitter. (Call for an appointment.)  They are trained to help fit reconstructed breasts. You are not obligated to buy from them, but my fitter told me to bring the bra back if I wore it and it was uncomfortable.

Reality - Don't fret too badly about sports bras being the most comfortable thing for the time being.  My PS explained the whole scar tissue maturation process to me so I know you've still got internal healing going on which may make normal bras uncomfortable for a while yet.  My implants felt kind of 'weighty' for a good couple of months after exchange and I needed a bra for comfort.  I'm about 5 months out now and really would not need to wear a bra at all if only I didn't have under-boob sweat that the bra band can absorb Bawling. When I do wear a bra I have several Bali stretch bras that are very comfortable, I think they're style 3484.

My nearest Nordstrom's is at least 3 hours away (assuming good weather and clear, dry roads).  I'm putting off the underwire bras until after my next surgery which is a nip-tuck to remove extra skin/tissue under the arms (aka: mud flaps).

    Andrea

First my PS said Not to spend a lot of money....he told me to to go to Walmart.....I found 2 different compression pieces. They both were in boxes by Hanes, hanging on a rack....one is a slimmer (think tube...open on both ends that, can be used a slimmer from under foobs to mid hips....it can also used as a hip slimmer too....then it looks like a super tight mini skirt.   I Have been using this one and wearing it OVER my PJ bottom....I just bunch it up when I need to go

The other is like a panti girdle.....legs go down to my knees (I'm short) and it is high waisted.....it is a DOUBLE thickness....not so easy to get down quickly  if  "ya gotta go"

Good luck on your PS visit

Hubby wants to know if I'm ready to enter a wet T-shirt contest.....hmmmmmmSinging

    hugs,

    Di

Lol Di! Bet you'd win the contest! How are you feeling now? Do you have much swelling and bruising?

When buying the compression garments, do they run true to size? I have a thick waist, there's not much room between where my ribs end and my hips begin. I often have to size up in tights to fit it or they're too constricting. Would I have to do the same in compression garments?

I am just full of questions, so thanks in advance for your help!

    Andrea,

    I had no choice....they only had M, L, XL

I wear size 4p in jeans/pant and M in sweaters, and most tops.

I am almost straight up and down from below foobs to hip bones.

    I bought the M.

and they are snug, like they should be.....

I'm a 6 or 8 depending on the brand. Maybe the large would be best for me?  Ugh, I hate wearing anything tight!

Andrea, if in doubt, try it on.

I am feeling pretty good, and I have NO BRUISING!......took my first shower last night and I didn't lose my  nips down the drain......I have purple marking pen all over my butt and lower back and a eliptical purple ink marked at lefty upper pole. around the eliptical shape is five single sutures around the shape, evidently where I was injected and "reunited" with my fat.

Several of the nurses said they took a survey and they all decided that that they all had enough fat and they were going to donate it to me!!!!!

    hugs,

I don't think you have to massage them. Maybe after an augmentation you do, but not after a reconstruction. You've still got a LOT of internal healing to do.

hotpinkmess, my ps had me start displacement massage about a month after my exchange. I've heard different doctors have different opinions on massage, so check with your's first. Because I've had radiation, it puts me at a higher risk of capsular contracture.

Di, you make me laugh! Your sense of humor is fantastic! I'll talk to my PS and see what his recommendations are for compression garments. Looks like Kohl's has some shapewear that might work too.

Maybe it's my age, but even before I found out about my BC I was looking for comfortable bras. I don't need pretty push up bras for everyday living.  I love the cami bras, especially since it doesn't matter if they show.  Give me comfort anytime.  I love the Bali Cami Bras at Kohls, and I also have the Bali 3484, great bra.

Surgery went well. Having incisional pain. Using icepacks. No drains. YEAH!!!  Slept most of the time since coming home. No nausea, did have general anesthesia. Wrapped in ace bandage so can't tell size wise. Painted with antiseptic up to my lower lip. ugh! Time for pain medication. Goodnight all. Thanks to those who were in my pockets!

Elsie - Comgrats!  Have a good night. Hope you can start sleeping horizontally soon. Took me 4-5 days but doing well with it.

Goldie - I'm adding the name of your bra to a short list I will take with me shopping tomorrow.

Long day, good night to all.

Nisa, if you have a problem finding your size in Kohls I always buy my bras on their website.  I can always get size and color I want easily that way.
