Amy and Aviva, glad you are on this side of the exchange. Hoping things  stay good. Goldie Glad you are feeling better and looking forward to your sx.

I am 4 weeks out now. Stitches are pretty much healed. But the ridge under the stitches is still on my right side. Maybe a little thinner but definitely there.  But it's not causing me any trouble. I am starting the Livestrong program this coming week. It was postponed a week because of -20 temps so I was glad to wait.

    Much love.

Anyone post exchange care to share if their fat grafting took or if they lost most of it?  That is the thing that I am praying works and that I retain most of mine as I have two pretty large divots above each breast.  It would be a shame for them to sink in again.  PS says 50-80% stays.

Ive tried peeking under the tube top but cant tell much. I can tell they are softer than the te. But seem wide like before. Im hoping once the top is off and swelling goes down things will shape up.

Im also hoping the top isnt like what your mother told you=== dont make that face because it will stick that way.  And the girls will be squished flat forever!

Elsiecow--so sorry to hear about the rash!  I suffered from chronic hives after the birth of my first child (25 years ago!) and have been on Claritin and Singular daily ever since which keeps the hives under control.  Claritin is no longer a prescription so you could get that and see if it helps alleviate the rash.  I should not make you drowsy like Benadryl does.  Putting ice/cold compresses on the hives also helped me temporarily, however, I am not sure your pec muscles will like the cold!  Hope you get some relief from this ASAP!

Somehow I no longer get the email notices to updates to this thread. So much happened in 2 days!

Elsie - Sorry about the rash. Take it easy. Hope you turn the corner soon!

Aviva - My top and swelling are going down, just 2 weeks out. They are looking wider than my natives but otherwise ok.  And much lower than TEs.

    Love, Nisa

Elsie - Is the rash any better?  Oh, how I feel for you!  That was the last thing you needed.

NisaVilla - Your exchange was the day after mine!  So VERY excited to get rid of those horrible TEs!  I'm feeling great except for some pressure as they move themselves into the pockets the PS had to create (and thank God they are).  I was horrified the first time I saw myself after the exchange.  Somehow I thought I'd be 'Playboy ready' immediately.  LOL!!!!  What I got was high, flat and lopsided... I was SO disappointed; but also very premature in my initial expectations, I guess.  Things are now settling and I have hopes for a decent outcome.  Wishing the same for all of you!!!

Ive read for MONTHS on here about dont think that what you see right away after exchange is the final product. I laugh at myself for immediately starting to think of how they are under the bandage top is them.  You just cant help where your mind goes!!

I know, but a girl can dream, can't she?  I've been taking pictures along this whole journey and that helps a lot because when you scrutinize them every single day you just don't see the changes.  Looking back even a week now I can see how they're starting to even up and migrate south.  Winking  Hopefully I'll end up with a result I can live with (pardon the pun)!

AZ85048 - I don't feel mine moving but that is because I'm still wearing the straitjacket to sleep so I can keep sleeping on my sides.  No Playboy boobs here either.  The strips are still attached despite showers. The swelling is mostly in between the breasts. The bottom look great, nicely shaped and at same height.  We will see in a few more weeks.

Hi, I had the TE exchange surgery on Jan 9 2014.  PS decided not to use the chest strap (a hand written note on post-op instructions). I see BS tomorrow the 13th.  We hadn't even discussed a chest strap prior to the surgery.  I am trying to do some research online about it. I guess they are used to keep the silicone implant in place in the lower pole pocket.   Has anyone worn a chest strap post-exchange surgery?  PS did a lot of fat grafting-my stomach and upper chest are black/blue. Most pain to-date even after all the other surgeries.

NisaVilla - Now see?  That's what blows my mind.  The vast difference in instructions from our PSs post exchange.  My PS used glue on me and no stiches.  I came home with a huge gauze wrap and held on by only some tape and that was removed 24 hours later for my first shower.  No support bra or straightjacket whatsoever, so I've been sleeping on my side since about the third night.  The steritape "fell" off after ten days because I'm allergic to adhesive tape and it was really starting to bother me, so I encouraged it a little....  Happy

cocok - No strap here, but I've heard of them (mostly for breast augmentation from what I've read).  So sorry you're so bruised and in so much pain, but as you know - this too shall pass.  Wishing you the best!

I had my 1st exchange 10/29 and they were still softening up last week, moving and changing.  I felt the same way in Oct right after surgery ewww I don't like them.  Friday I had them swapped out and I will not expect much at first they do change = )

myers421 - I've read on some of your earlier posts that you did the swap to a smaller implant size.  I really hope this new size will work better for you!  They gave me 450 on each side and hopefully that will turn out OK.  Thanks for giving us hope...  Like I always say to the PS, I have no point of reference for this, so I just have to trust her expertise on most of it.

Everyone waiting for exchange should go to Breast Implant Sizing 101 and click the links at the bottom of the header post to the manufacturers websites. Look at the pictures and specifications for implants and understand that after exchange, you will not look like a younger, perkier version of your former self. In my opinion, reconstructed foobs do not look like real breasts. They are a lot more natural than a TE, but are flatter and they don't stick out very far. The tips are gone so you are flat there and don't have that natural cone shape. Perhaps if you were very small to begin with or naturally flatter, it won't be as much of a shock.

Your new foobs will not look like a Playboy model, even a smaller version of hers. In her case, the implant pushes her natural breast out further. We don't have the natural breasts so there is nothing to push out except the pec muscle. My implants are one of the largest (Allergan 410 FF, 740 gummies) and the manufacturers specifications show they only project (stick out) about 2 1/2 inches. I definitely don't have Playboy shaped foobs. They are the width of a D cup but there is nothing to fill out the last third (or more) of a D cup. (Not that I wear a bra anymore.)

In spite of my research, I was surprised when I first saw them. They were small, misshapen mounds. They still are not at their final shape - I still see shape changes from day to day. I am 5 weeks out. I am NOT unhappy with what I have. They look fine under clothes but even without all the scars, if naked, you could never mistake them for real, even if they had nipples. If you want natural looking, you'd better explore the option of nipple sparing surgery before your mastectomy. Then it will be "same couch, different stuffing." I understand DIEP and TRAM give a result similar to natural breasts.

Hi sandra4611.  I did do research and I did have nipple sparing BMX.  It was supposed to be skin sparing as well but they had to scape so much out that there wasn't much skin left to work with.  So that was an unexpected reality.  (Making mountains out of canyons comes to mind...)  But it seems there's still a certain degree of shock in getting used to them for all of us.  Just getting rid of the TEs was such a relief that I'm ready to roll with whatever I get.  Fingers crossed!

Rash is about the same. Redness doesn't look as bad after switching to clindamycin. I don't think it has spread at all though either. Will call first thing in am to get appt to be seen per oncall PS.
