I had exchange on 1/3/14 and went back today 1/13/14. I had taken 4 weeks off for bilateral mastectomy.  As for the hibiclens I would talk with PS. Mine did not know that the surgery center was having pt's use it preop. I only used day of surgery and my skin was burning in the shower. My skin was so dry by the end of the shower.

Those of you who have had your exchange and say it was way easier than your MX, did you also have fat grafting?  My exchange is Thursday this week and I will have lipo from my stomach to fill in divots, etc around my breasts.  I've been warned that this is the most painful part.  I was told that the getting up and down is the roughest with the tummy soreness.  Can anyone confirm/deny?

I took the full 6 weeks for my BMX. I was at work almost a full week when my TE got infected and had to be removed . It took me 4 more weeks to come off of abx and start chemo. My MO would not let me return to work. Which was hood since I ended up hospitalized another time for Acute Renal Failure.  Then because it was 6 months since I had started this whole thing I got terminated right before my last chemo. They said they couldn't keep it open any more. And YES It Was Legal But NOT nice. LOL.  My MO didn't release me for work til the next January. My knees prevented me from going back to work though. And I did get S'S disability. If you know anyone who would hire a 59 year old gimpy cane user with memory problems send them my way!!! LOL actually I'd be afraid to go back as a HUC. I still have some memory problems and would worry about not doing what I would need to do. And desk jobs where you don't need to stand or walk are few and far between unless you live in India.

Oops sorry got a bit off track. I wanted to say I felt so good after my exchange that I had to remind myself to go sliw. At two weeks out from exchange I felt as good as I do now at a month out. Much love.

I am taking two weeks after exchange and reduction/lift combo. I really need it, I am very sore especially on reduction lift side?

Good luck to all with recent or upcoming exchanges! Wishing you speedy recoveries!

I had my exchange surgery yesterday. PS had to repair a divot and I have a drain. Bummer. He told me before surgery that he was 99% sure that I would not have any drains. I am sore but feeling prettty good.  Can not shower until tomorrow.  I have not seen the new foobs yet.

Algrana-  you are done!  Congrats! Don't worry about one single drain. It will be gone soon enough, and it is doing an important job that will save you from inflammation and maybe even an infection down the road.

I noticed your tumour was quite large, like mine. Was it found by accident or did you have symptoms? Mine was missed on 4 mammograms as it was deep and hidden well. On my right breast, I had 12.2 of DCIS that never showed on pics either.  Scary to think what I could have growing right now that is not showing on imagining!

Rest and have a day filled with good food and movies!

    Love, Nisa

Im back from ps- he wasnt there so saw the np, who is great. Said they look good. To me they look almost the same as the te did. The left side will need lipo in a few months to remove excess fat on that side. They are wider than expected, to me. But it is early days, I know I have to wait a few weeks now and see how they settle in...keep trying to post to pic forum but pics wont attach.

The tube top was super itchy, am glad to have it off! My chest does feel better with the te out= less tight in general, and the implants are a bit softer.

Nisa....I found my mass. I lost 24 lbs in a very short amount of time. Had no appetite and no energy. Went to four different doctor's and they could not find anything wrong.  My right nipple collapsed which I thought was from the weight loss but it was the cancer growing. I still have 30 radiation treatments to go.

Just take it easy back at work.  If you go back early you might want to warn them you might not make it the whole day for the first week back.  That anesthesia lingers.

Aviva - I think you look great!   For four days out they look pretty awesome!  At this point I still had what looked like smashed burger buns sitting very high, wide, and uneven on my chest.  That would have been two weeks ago yesterday but they have found their way south since then.  :-)  From what I've read (and from what Amy has said), I guess they take a while to find their final destination.  I'm still lopsided, but the PS had to do a lot more work on my left than on my right, so they seem to be dropping at different speeds due to the size of the pockets (I think).  Anyway, I wouldn't worry about the left one - it's still fairly early on for you and you'll see them change over the next few days and weeks.  All for the better, I'm sure!

algranna - Congratulations on you exchange!  So glad to hear you're done and feeling good.  Don't sweat that drain - I know you hate it but it'll be gone soon enough.  As to the shower - you are going to love it!   There's nothing quite like that clean feeling...  I hope you continue to feel better with every passing day.  Get lots of rest; you deserve it after all you've been through.

myers421 - Amy, I'm sorry you're having a bad day, but hope that things get a little better as the day wears on and you have a quiet and peaceful night.  I'm still amazed at how soon you returned to work.  Hope you feel better soon!

NisaVilla - What a scary story!  Mine was also very deep and buried and they had a hard time finding it, but thank God they did.  Hope you're doing well!

Two days until my exchange and fat grafting. Getting pretty nervous!!!  I like the projection of my TEs so hoping they will look somewhat similar, just feel better.  Anxious to buy my first pretty bra - PS says that will be 3 months from exchange.

Aviva, your foobs look HUGE! What kind did you get? I do not have the fullness above them like you do and don't have the projection you do. You look wonderful. I was lopsided with flat angles at 4 days out. Also don't see mud flaps. You look wonderful.

They are Natrelle 410 anatomicals- 375 left and 425 right, I had more taken out on the right side. They are MF I think, medium height full projection. They do look big! so Im hoping theyll really settle down. I said at least 3 times a visit to the ps I wanted to be small.

cjc1961 - Good luck on Thursday!  You won't believe how much better you'll feel just to get rid of those darn TEs!  God how I hated them.  Sorry, I know nothing about fat grafting, but let us know how it goes.  I'd be really interested to hear what you think of the process.

Aviva - If I didn't think you'd all hurt yourselves laughing, I'd post a picture of my lopsided foobs.  You look great, but I'm sure that four days out there's still plenty of swelling...

Ahhh tonight will be better SHOWER = ) and no more wrap.  I just continue to pray that there will be no complications with thin skin and the nurse mentioned how sometime exchange implants out can make them "harden".  I like them MUCH better than my others so far I am pleased

Aviva, I think they look great! Better than mine, which looked like smashed hamburger buns.

Algrana, congrats on having your exchange! Implants are a lot more comfortable than those horrible TEs!

    Good luck on Thursday, Cheryl!

Elsie, hope your new meds clear up that rash soon.

I'm on my iPad and it's a pain to scroll up and back, so I know I'm missing several of you, but I'm happy to hear you're feeling good and are back to work.

I need some serious answers right now!  Scheduled for exchange with fat grafting on Thursday. Almost two weeks ago I pulled my low back and it is killing me. Since I can't take Advil before surgery, I've not been able to calm the pain down sufficiently.  Walking and standing are ok but when I sit down, I can barely get up and get horrible spasms when I do. My question - should I tell my PS and have her postpone my surgery or hope all the pain meds and anesthesia will help my back as well?  I would hate to have the pain of surgery on top of back pain. My family thinks most of my back pain is stress.  Would love everyone's opinion.  Sure would hate to wait on my exchange as it might turn into months by the time I can get my back checked. So confused!!!

cjc1961 - Can you call your PS in the morning and explain and see what she thinks?  I'm thinking she would be a better judge than we would.  She might surprise you and want to go forward with the exchange, but better to be safe than sorry, right?

Yes, I can call her but am afraid she would advise waiting and I just don't want to postpone it.  UGGGHHH!!!

I know it would be a huge disappointment, but if the stress of the surgery will make your back seize up more, you're going to be in for one hell of a painful recovery and you don't want that either.  Only you and she can decide, but I'd be honest with her and see what she says.

On the other hand, I was nervous as a cat (and so anxious) when I had my exchange surgery, so maybe your back is stress related...

cjc, I had a back problem due to deconditioning. I tried pain meds and relaxers. But what helped me most was a visit to the chiropractor. Went 2 times that first week. On a Friday , I was able to walk again. It went bad again the next morning when I got out of bed  he squeezed me in and it was good till I went back the next week. Then it felt better. I went every week for a month. It helped me.

Aviva, those do look goid. But you might not want them here on the open forum. You might want to delete them soon.

    Algranna, congrats. Enjoy the squishies!

Elsie hope that you are doing better.

Amy, yes a shower is amazing when you haven't had one in a while.

Az8. Are they planning on doing anything to correct yours?

Cheryl Thursdays gonna be a good day!

I am still doing ok. Still have the ridge nut it seems a bit softer. Otherwise so far so good.  I start Livestrong at the YMCA on Thursday. I'll just have to start slow.

    To all, much love.
