I made it through exchange surgery.  Arrived at 6 AM and home by 10 AM!  I am feeling pretty good tonight but will be taking it easy for awhile. I can even take a shower tomorrow.  I have a great plastic surgeon but he thinks I made need lipo and fat grafting.  I was hoping this would be the last surgery.  Thanks for the encouragement.

yeah julie. It's funny how some docs will let you shower with drains, some won't until they're water proof or out. Mine should be coming out tomorrow then it's a nice hot shower!  Do take it easy, you don't want to get any complications.

Tomorrow at the crack of dawn I go in for my exchange on L. side and reduction on R.  I'm really anxious (not in a fearful way) and glad to be finally making some more progress.

Well, my sgx went well and I'm now recouping!  All wrapped up in an ace bandage, so can't peak yet.  Pain so far is minimal - Haven't even taken any pain meds yet.  There are a few bloody areas on the bandages on my reduction side, but I figure that's pretty normal.  I had a moment of panic when I looked in the mirror - They both looked so lumpy and misshapen.  Then I realized it was from all the wads of gauze over the incisions!

I do have one drain on my reduction side, but not exchange side.  I have an appt. with my PS on Friday, so I guess I'll get my peak then!

    Good morning Ladies,

Thank you once again for your gracious replies. They did help, unfortunately, l have decided that even though it's been one week of my exchange, l am having surgery again in a few days to remove EVERYTHING.  l asked my PS to leave the skin loose, to undue all the surthures that apparently were done exetnsively to holp and repair pocket because of TE, l can  not stand living like this not even for a day.  Believe me, l have a high tollerance I had the TE in for 8 months and they were never this tight.  I understand now after my PS told me that they had to do extensive work more than usual on an exchange and stiched me up across pretty good to hold things in place.  She did an amazing job but l don't like the feeling of it. Please don't think of me as a coward, this has been such a long journey and l have a child that needs his mom, a happy mom not one always in pain.

I hope having surgery a week apart is safe nonetheless, l want them out and l want to breath again full breaths. I am so happy that you are all here and all for eachother in a crisis. Thank you.

    Jenna XO

    yes, Jenna,

Please keep coming back and letting us know how you are doing!! I had pain on my left side because of extra suturing and moving things up and in a bit. It really wears on you. After 4 months it is finally gone. YOU are the only one who knows the level of your pain!!! I was still able to function as the pain became less frequent. It's understandable that you just want your life back!!! Also, there are great threads on here full of awesome women who chose no recon.

Take good care of yourself and enjoy every moment with your little one!!!!

    Question about Exchange surgery-

Ugh I have had an upper respiratory infection for a week, getting better but loos e hacky cough. My surgery is Monday 2/17.  I am a nurse but have no experience in what type of anesthesia/ airway they use for the exchange. If they intubate they may cancel me as a cough proves risky for a largyngospasm but If they just do a deep IV sedation  I should be ok. Did anyone have their exchange while on the tail end of a cough? I so want to be done and not cancelled but certainly don't want unnecessary riisk. Thanks!!!

Mimi,  I caught a cold, no cough, a week before I was to have the TEs placed. He cancelled the surgery and it was done a month later. I did have my gallbladder out during a cold 8 months earlier. Email or call your doc and let him decide. Better safe than sorry.

Jenna2014 - So sorry that your exchange has been so painful.  Like Moon said, you do what you need to do and we'll be behind you cheering you on.  If this is the right decision for you, then we're good with that.  No one judges in here.  Please let us know when they schedule your surgery....

I will be four weeks post exchange tomorrow. I love how I look. I got 800 implants and my incisions are hidden well under the breast as I had NS BMX. The thing I am frustrated by is how the implants feel. While they are squishy and not hard like the TEs, I do feel them and they are tight. Is this normal?  When I turn over in bed at night they poke me and when I get up from lying down, they shift and are annoying for a few seconds until they settle to my standing position. This is not what I expected and I sure hope they start feeling better.

cjc1961 - Nice to 'see' you!  I'm exactly three weeks ahead of you with my exchange and yes, they do soften up - surprisingly so.  I also had an NSBMX, but I only have 450 cc high profile Mentor rounds, so maybe the size of yours (WOW) takes longer to soften up?  Maybe some of the women with large implants can weigh in on this.....

cjc - I'd give it some time yet.  I'm just a touch over 5 months out from exchange to 750cc implants.  While they were much softer than the TEs, I realize at this point that the implants have continued to soften up, or maybe it my pecs that have healed and are now able to relax a bit more.  Anyway - give it at least a few months.  I still massage mine daily with BioOil to keep the skin soft and supple, help soften the implants (if such a thing is possible) and to help keep capsular contraction at bay.

I am still working on healing after my exchange on 1/31. Still have pain on my right side, cancer side. Is this normal?

I realize I am prob expecting too much too soon. My PS said Monday at my postop that I should massage them to help with the rippling. I have that when I raise my arms and she said massaging will help soften them and cut down on rippling.  I have noticed a change in how they look just after 4 weeks and it is for the good, so hopefully feeling them and the tightness will improve. Thanks for the advice.
