Mommy, infections suck but as Moon said, if you lose your implant (or for others, a TE) it's not the end of the line. That's what happened to me...surgery #1...infection...PICC line...vancomycin & drains...home health nurse...then got admitted for surgery #2 to remove one implant and place an empty TE. More PICC-vanc-drains-nurses for 3 more weeks. Infection gone, fills began. Surgery #3 for the exchange was three months to the day later. Yes, it wasn't a fun experience, but I got through it and you will too. We're all behind you!

    Sandra,

I guess I know medically this can be done. I just stress over the idea of time. I need to be back to my class next week!! I've been out of work since January, I'm afraid I'm going to lose my house! I have bills galore. That's my main stress right now. I know, somehow everything else will work out but financially I don't have time- I need to get back to work

Mommy--It's not fair that you have to worry about money on top of everything else. Yeah, I know life isn't fair (don't we all!), but I had to say it any way!  I'm so sorry!

Hey AZ-  Yep...I am officially a member of the squishy club!!  Surgery went great and Bobo surprised me with a big bag of goodies so I was like a kid at Christmas!!  PS brought in three rounds and two anatomically shaped. Ended up with the anatomically shaped Allergan 410 at 420ccs. I knew he would go with the anatomical because I think he prefers them. Right now I just have a uni-boob because of the roll of gauze between the girls.   Thanks for checking in on me!!

    Thanks Elizabethaw,

If I've learned one thing this year it is life isn't fair. Sometimes it sucks! Can't wait to find the new me and enjoy life again.

I'm on I'V antibiotics now until Aug 20 or 21. Then the picc line will come out and it's a waiting game to see if infection comes back. If it does I head to surgery again. I've had 11 surgeries/ procedures since October 2013. I want to be done

hi, Im new to this thread but throught Id chime in with some questions.  I just had another fill and now am at 450 cc on both sides.  Doc says that he can keep filling until I tell him to stop.  Well I really feel huge right now.  He said that if he were to do the exchange now, he would probably put a 350 implant in and that would make me a small B cup( I was originally an A).  So how do we know how big we'll truly be once we have the exchange.  It seems so hard to "guesstimate??".  How did you ladies decide?

Girlstrong-  go to Breast Implant Sizing 101 and give Whippetmom all the info she needs (TEs, rib cage, height, weight, etc.) and she can help you determine a size that may be good. I was surprised that your PS would go down so much but there are so many factors, like skin integrity, that go into the decision. I was filled to 450 CKs and the smallest implant that was considered was 420ccs and the largest was 475 ccs.  It is so hard to figure this stuff out but with the info that Whippetmom gives you, at least you can participate in the conversation.  Best of luck to you!!

Girlstrong, I love Whippetmom too and think her help is invaluable! Also, I showed my PS a wedding photo of myself that was somewhat in profile and in which I was bra-less. I told him I would love to look like that again. Additionally, when the TE were filled to the point I liked the amount of projection I had in my clothing, I repeatedly emphasized I wanted to retain that projection. I was filled to 540 and 520 (long story) and exchanged to 595s. The size is perfect for ME. I feel like myself again!

My suggestion is use whatever tools you think might be effective to communicate with your PS your desires so you are both on the same page.

I wanted to let you all know that I updated my photos on the picture site.  I have 410's FF 595cc and Nipples now.  Anyone wanting to see how the 410's look it is there.  Thread title:  BMX to TE's to Implants 5'7" / 135 pounds.  User: HappySpring13

Mommyathome, I'm so sorry for all you have been through.  I hope it all gets better.

Happyspring, I saw your pictures and your results are amazing!

Ally2345, I have the roll of gauze between them, too.  What did your PS say to you about that?  I didn't even see mine and I just know she told my boyfriend I need to leave it there to keep them seperate.  I really don't think there's enough gauze and pressure to make a difference, though!  My pre op is tomorrow so I can ask her then.

As for the dry mouth thing, yes it has been terrible!  I've been drinking water like crazy and having to use the bathroom like crazy.  I took the ear patch off yesterday and someone said it causes dry mouth.  I do seem less thirsty today.

Mommyathome, have you tried getting SSI disability?.....I think sometimes this can be retroactive the entire time you were/are disabled...

    wishing you better health ahead

Mommy - I imagine you've looked into it and I don't know much about the teaching profession, but what about employer or contract-provided long term disability coverage?  Many employers provide that as a benefit, usually with a 6-month waiting period with benefits retroactive to the date disability started.  I can't imagine the stress you must be experiencing right now!

    Mommyathome,

SSI is social security disability insurance......not sure how one qualifies but have seen other on BC.org mention it

    www.SSA.gov/DisabilitySSI

maybe google it or call your local social security office for more info

    good luck

Definitely look into SSI.  After a 7 day waiting period, I got $571/week and then my employer supplemented that with sick and vacation time to make a full paycheck.  I used it when I took 4 weeks off for the BMX, and I just filed again for the 11 days off for the exchange surgery.  I won't get paid for the first 7 days again, but I will for the last 4.

my job you have to be off mmk ore than thirty days and use up all accrued time off. Then can apply for disability.  B it that's separate than ssi

From what I read ssi you have to be out at least a year....

I was a new teacher with 15 days. When my time ran I my superintendent allowed me to ask my colleagues to do sick bank. I had to pay my long term sub and I got difference. Which was only like 200-500 bi weekly because I was new...

It is what it is. I'm hoping to go back next week (aug 18) to set up my class and start school year aug 25. God willing I'll be able to do that

SSI and Disability are 2 different things

I was on long term Dis from my work. Once you are on long term they make you apply for DDis from the government.  My work hired a firm Allsup to help me fill and submit the forms. After that I had to be off work for 6 months. Disability pays back 4 months. I had to send that back payment to my LONG term Dis Comp. SSI is a supplementary income for those who have no other income. I don't know how that one is done. Allsup does the forms with you. They take private people as well as compaines. They know exactly how to word the question correctly.  Private customers will pay something.  I don't know how much. But in my case once they had my med records I got Federal Disability.  It took 3 months of back and forth.  Good luck.
