Coolbreeze - So sorry you've had such pain!  I luckily had the on-Q pump, but had it pulled after they realized the demerol in it was causing my severe nausea.  Had morphine for the next two days, which definitely helped  (was in hospital four  1/2 days).  Pain control is really crucial for healing, so please do keep the doctor informed.

Janloy - just to add my two cents worth in about recovery after exchange.   My ps is definitely on the conservative side, so perhaps closer to yours. ( I'm now five weeks post-op. )  He had me not move my arms for three weeks (elbows at waist), and he still has not cleared me to lift anything over a couple pounds or do any kind of weight bearing arm exercise (yoga/pilates) or resistance (aka walk the dog).  I'm very active - teach aerobics and do pilates  - and my arm range of motion is still not back yet - almost, but not quite.  It's still uncomfortable for to bend over or put on a t-shirt.  Hopefully your recovery will be easier and faster than mine!

    Happy Monday

Angela: Did you have rads also?

About ayear after my rads I started having a weird sensation in my sternum, it turns out it was from the muscles on the rads side having tightened up and the would pull on the flex points where the ribs connect with the sternum. In my case it would make this crazy loud pop every once and a while, it would freak me out, but it turned out to be nothing.

Status report: I had my areola tattoos done this afternoon.  It hurt on one side quite a bit and caused a spasm in the chest muscle that keeps coming and going throughout the evening.  The other side had very little pain.  The tats are pretty red and oozing blood, and I have to wash with soap and water, apply oinment and a dressing twice a day.  I will know more how they look in a few days to a week when the redness subsides.  My skin is pretty sensitive and reactive. The aesthician said to come back in 4 weeks for a touch-up (if needed).   The spasms are killing me right now, so I am going to take a pill and go to bed.  I'll check in tomorrow.

Hi there! I am finally joining after reading all of your posts for the past 6 weeks. I was diagnosed with DCIS in April and had a BLM with TE reconstruction on August 30. I want to thank all of you for giving me the wonderful nformation, great advice and encouragement to go through this. I know I am not going through this alone and although my husband has been great, I am sure he is tired of hearing all the details.  This is where I come to find out the answers for the little things that my mom, sister, friends or coworkers can't answer. Thank you to each and every one of you. You have been a life saver.

I must say that I have had it pretty easy so far and I feel bad for anyone who hasn't had it as easy. I go in for my last scheduled fill tomorrow but may have another one "just in case". My PS has me scheduled for the exchange for Nov. 11. That is only 2 weeks away. It doesn't seem like enough time. Has anyone out there had an exchange within 2 weeks or less from the last fill?

     Signed,

"No longer a lurker"   aka VolleyGirl

Welcome VolleyGirl!  I don't know the answer to your question about time from the last fill, but someone who knows is sure to come along soon.

    Volleygirl,

I had DCIS and my surgery was 2 weeks prior to yours.  I just had my last fill last week (thank goodness).  My exchange is Dec 15th.  My PS didn't say we had to wait a specific amount of time, but he did want the TE's to settle in a bit before the exchange.  I'm sure the other ladies on here will have more insight for you.  Good Luck and hugs!!

Lorraine, I will be thinking of you tomorrow as you get your cherries on top. Just remember that they will be huge in the beginning so don't get all freaked.  I a, 12 wks post op and mine have shrunk a lot but they look good.  What is wonky?  LOL

Jazzy (Janet) and coolbreeze, hope you are healing just fine.

Robin, Sorry you are in pain.  I did not know that tattooing was painful.  My flaps are numb but wondering if I could feel those little needles.

Janet--The pain will get better, remember they pushed things around in there, took things out, and I bet you have that huge incision under the skin like I did.  I was in more pain towards my hip bones, and when the doc told me that inside she cut hip to hip, it made more sense and the pain was less upsetting as I understood in more.  Hang in there, you can totally do this.

Lorraine--thanks for the thoughts, I just got injected and am working from the waiting room until they start the scan in about 3 hours.  I know it will be fine, just want accept that this is how it is going to be, scans for coughs and sore shoulders.  I really hope things go well for you tomorrow!

Laura--You are a wild girl--3 9 hour days, well you must work wonders on women to be that booked!

Can't wait to her from you Sisters.

Jean--I'm hoping for bursitis--never thought I'd hear myself say that!

    Robin--Hope all is well.

    Welcome Volleygirl.

I hope this cracks you up as much as it did me.  My oldest arrived back in LA last night after being in NYC with his sweetie.  I said, "ren't there so many people?"  To which replied, "Yes, but what struck me is how many people had small dogs in purses."  No offense intended to anyone.  I just thought that was funny, all the impressions one could take away from NYC, and it was number of little dogs in purses, that will stick with him!

    Love to all  ---KarenW

KEW: That is hilarious....and that is probably the same exact thing that I would notice....that one of the prerequisites to living in NY is that you have a purse puppy.  Wendy....do you have a purse puppy? Wink

volleygirl...Welcome! Well, most of us have a span of about two months between the last fill and the exchange surgery.  There is no rush for the exchange....unless you need to get the exchange completed in this calendar year.  But I would push it out as far as possible...
