Robin:  Tattooing should not hurt.  Did the esthetician use an anesthetic?  You should tell her if it hurts andinsist that a proper anesthetic be used.   And you should not still be bleeding.  Perhaps in a spot, but not enough to talk about.  I'm sorry that you are going through this.  Ice on the area (frozen peas or frozen corn) would be good.  Feel better soon. JUDY

Hi everyone I am super new and Judy suggested I ask my implant questions on this site.  I was diagnosed with triple neg  in July 09 had a double mast with TE in August and as of this past Thursday I finished 4 rounds of AC (that feels great to type that) and next Thursday I will start 4 rounds of Taxol.  My PS and team of Dr's has advised that their protocol is to do my exchange before I start my rads.  I have 2 months to decide on the "gummy bear" or regular implants.  Can anyone weigh in on this????  Thank you-Michele

Hi EC Ladies - I'm a little bumbed out this evening!  Undecided  I went back to my ps to discuss my unhappiness with my lack of symmetry.  Whippettmom thinks my mx breast looks good & my ps should try to get my good breast to match it.  (You can see my pix on the TImTam site.)  We (Whippetmom & I) think the that he should not have lowered my good breast & should raise it back or maybe I could get by with just a different style implant such as a high profile type.

Well my ps thinks that one is perfect and he has scheduled me for fat grafting on the mx side to fill out the divot on Dec 1st.  He will also graft fat to the sides of my foob and the top to make it slope like the good breast.

I am so frustrated!  This has been going on for so long and the end is no where in sight!  I just want it to all go away!  Cry

Welcome, VolleyGirl!  Believe me, most of us started as lurkers, so we're so happy you've joined us!

Firstmate - Ouch!  I guess I didn't think there'd be pain with areola tats either.  Hang in there!

Jazzy - hope you get that pain taken care of.....scary......

Estepp and Fairy -  good luck tomorrow and happy  (super fast - esp for you, Laura!) healing!!

    Hood - thinking of you......

KEW - your son is a hoot!   Don't you wish sometimes that you could spend just one day inside the head of these kids?

btw....is there a site where the various options for nipple recon are discussed?  Just wondering.....thinking ahead.....

I am scheduled for my exchange 5 weeks after my last fill and I too was concerned that this was too soon. My PS says that there is no difference, in his experience, between the results of women who wait 4 weeks to exchange and women who wait 12 weeks. I still was apprehensive and posted this question on one of these forums...I think under the dcis category. Anyway, one women there had her exchange 1 week after her last fill and it has been about 1 year since then and she has had no problems. Good luck with your exchange. I go Nov 25!

    armywifenmommy,

Where is your husband stationed?  Are you being treated at Walter Reed?  Do you have support around you during this?  You do have support here.

No purse puppies here. Lots of neighborhood restaurants have outdoor doggie fountains, and almost every store has a sign saying "we love your pets, but please leave them outside"

On the UES the doggies are big, there is even a dalmation in the building, I think the dogs get smaller as you get closer to midtown, no idea why.

    Hi there,

Can you add me to the list.  I lost my right implant in June and FINALLY will get another chance at it in December.  Can't WAIT!!!  I was okay with it but must admit to being a bit teary about it lately.  I am sooooo tired of looking at my flat tire!!!  Put me on please :-)

Laura and Lorraine - Best wishes surgery sisters!

Karen - When do you get the results?

Wbuggie - What day in December?

    (((Hood)))

Val - There are a number of us that either have had nips or are waiting to schedule nips on this site. And there are a few smaller discussions going on re: nip options. I suggest you start one if you have specific questions.

Linda - I went a whole day today w/o nip guards. That was a nice change!! I didn't even have to wear a full sweater.

Sandy - Hi sister. We have missed you!

Joyce, I agree with Laura.  If you have a strong feeling that the good side needs the work then I would see another PS just to see what he/she says.  It would not hurt anything.

JEAN, you go girl.  Already going without the guards.  You need to post pictures!!

I went to see my PS today and he does not want to see me again for 3 months !!!!   yeah!!   So far all this stretching and seeing the PT has not helped at all with this tightness. This is my 3rd week.  I am like you Joyce, I just want all this to be over and get on with my life.

Alicia, My prayers will be with you on Monday as you begin your treatments.

    Welcome Michele

    ((((((JANET)))))

Lorraine and Laura,  get'er done tomorrow....

I have a question about nips.  I am having modified skate flaps done December 4th.  I have LD flaps and I have no feeling where the flaps are.  The nip procedure is being done in my PS office, under local.  I'm suddenly getting scared that there will be pain, even though I dont have feeling there.

Is there anyone here who did the nip procedure under local, on flaps where there was no feeling?  Did it hurt?

Sorry for not posting sooner - until today, I have spent most of my days and nights trying to keep warm and just sleeping.  Regular Dr advised SWINE FLU......  I couldn't believe it - how could I get it?? - I never go anywhere except work and home...  Oh well, I no longer need to wonder about the N1H1 flu shot.  No longer running a fever and can go back to work tomorrow.  I am sure my office has been thoroughly lysolled - taking with me tissues and hand sanitizer.  Thank you for telling me not to fear making my Drs mad.  I KNOW I shouldn't be afraid of them, but I am.  I have learned a lot from everyone here and I still have a ways to go... Thanks again for all the support (and the kick in the a@@ - Judy - I needed it..

Joyce:  Yep...I agree with Laura and Linda.  Do not even think of going under anesthesia just to do fat grafting on the mastectomy side...time to find another PS.  This guy is not looking out for your best interest.

michele/newbie: Welcome.  Your question about the true gummies vs. standard silicone rounds is a good one but the answer can be very subjective.  Some really like their gummies and some do not and want to exchange out to the regular silicone implants.  There are a number of threads re: gummies - if you look up in the top right you will see a "SEARCH" function.  You can search for gummies or gummie and do a little research.  Also, ask your PS to let you feel the difference between the two types of silicone implants.  Big difference.

Welcome Volley girl (a fellow Michigander!) -- my PS made me wait 3 months from the time of my last fill until my exchange surgery.  One thing I've learned from these boards is that every PS has a different approach ... I also had DCIS and a BLM back in February ... did six fill procedures, finished those in late April/first part of May, and had my exchange in mid-July ... just had my nipples and aeroli surgery a week ago today.  Got the bolsters removed yesterday - wow, even though there are sutures sticking out the entire aerola (making it look like little rays of suture sticking out of a sun), they both really look FANTASTIC.  When i was getting dressed this morning and had to change my bandages, it struck me that I was looking at my reflection in the mirror, and for once, I didn't focus on the masc scars, but I found myself focusing on my new nipples ... wow ... I just enjoyed the moment before covering them up with the antibiotic gauze and bandages again ...  It was a moving time for me .....  Best of luck with your exchange, Volley Girl!!!  Hope everything goes well -- sue

Hey Sue-You Midmichigander, you!!  I am glad you are happy with your new look!  That's gotta feel great.  I've mentioned this before, but I am still waiting to get the go ahead for surgery.  Five more weeks till I see the PS again.  Fingers crossed!!!

My spasms have subsided, thankfully.  No more discomfort.  But the tattoos are still very red and dark, hopefully they will lighten.

Laura -  Best of luck with your surgery tomorrow.  Heal fast, but be careful with those grandkids.  Your's are little and will want to be held and loved.  Love them, but don't lift them!

Fairy49 - Best of luck on your surgey tomorrow.

Karen - Hoping for good results from your scan.

Jazzy - So sorry to hear you are having so much pain.  I hope you are feeling better soon and back to your spunky self!

All the girls that finally have surgery dates -- Congrats on making it to another stage in the process.  Best wishes for beautiful results!

    Volleygirl-

--I, too, had  DCIS and had my MX on Aug.25th.  I had my last expansion nearly 2 wks ago.  I actually had that "just in case" expansion but I had so much discomfort that my PS took out 50cc of the 75cc she had put in a wk. prior. Now my PS wants my TE to settle...for 2-3 months before doing an exchange.  However, she is first suggesting a breast lift (poss. Nov.) to make my healthy breast symmetrical in appearance (cleavage).  Once she does the exchange, she said we will wait again...this time to let the implanted (MX) breast settle before she places an implant in the healthy breast.  Upon reading everyone else's experience here at the EC...the  longer the better.

Ladies....Why do they even call it "immediate reconstruction" anyway?????  It sure does not feel "immediate" to me!!!  hee...hee...heee  By the way...what's a "wonky"???
