Good evening Ladies and thanks for all the prayers.

I haven't taken time to read all the posts since I was last on, but today I feel pretty good.

I took off the ace bandage today and I am not happy.  I am glad for the softness, but at the moment they are flat!  Additionally, I am black and blue from under the foobs to the middle of my back on the right side.  I didn't expect that.

I had been complain to my SO that my right side was hurting and he told me it was in my head.  Today he said oh.

I go to see the PS tomorrow and I hope he tells me that these things will take sometype of shape.

Kathie - I am so sorry about your friend. I know he loved having you care for him. You are such a great lady!

Lorraine - You are so right. I expect that many women don't give themselves time to grieve through this process. We are all so busy taking care of others.

Deborah and Lorraine - You two had better keep your shirts down during coffee and lunch! Innocent

Ladyredlocks - Oregon? What a beautiful state. My nephew is going to school there!

Pinkylee - Oh dear, another lady that is not that happy. I am crossing my fingers for you and the fluffing bit! But I can't help you w/ the bruising, perhaps someone else will post.

Take care and best wishes to our surgical sisters this week!!!!!!!!

Pinkylee - sorry to hear you are not happy. Wondering why you would have so much bruising. I don't have any except on my hand where the IV was inserted. As far as the flatness hopefully they will fluff out.

Did anyone else experience bruising after their exchange?

Hey Pinkylee good to hear from you... so sorry you are disappointed... I've been told to expect that (my bandages come off wednesday).  I'm sore today too... I'm using tylenol until the pain warrants a vicodin (which I just took so my posts might get loopy hehe)... What type of implants did you get?  I've been told many types need to "fluff in" what ever that means...

Oh Pinkylee and others--don't despair--your new breasts will take shape.  I have told my PS so many times that they need to do a better job of preparing women for their exchanges.  All of us are typically relieved and excited to reach this point in our recovery--only to be disappointed.  I cried the first week and called the nurses every day.  They kept reassuring me that it will take a little time--of course, I was soooo tired of hearing this after all those months.  I even remember my husband trying to cheer me up only to witness me having an emotional meltdown in Starbucks.  From the first week of my exchange to 6 weeks later--my breast dramatically changed in shape, project, and width--all for the better.

Hang in there--your body will heal, your implants will fall into place, and your eyes will adjust to the new you.  Best wishes--Erin

I was nervous about seeing my new girl for the first time tomorrow, but now after reading all these posts, I'm really worried!  I'll try not to think about it too much. Is anyone happy with their new foob(s)? Oh well, at least it feels soft.

PinkyLee, Ladyredlocks, I'm glad you're doing OK.  I so hope that we'll be happy with our results soon.

Good luck to all the surgery ladies this week!

I should love my exchange. Everyone loves my TE.. they say I look like a million bucks.. I hate them.. so... it can only get better... :)

Jean I hope you were able to get out for that walk today : - ) ...

Laura did you just call me NUTS, 1st you call me a idiot on the Oct thread than you say I'm not, now your calling me nuts lol, just teasing you of course : - )

Lorraine I am so jealous. But the good news is they said we may actually warm up close to 60 by the weekend. That will be a major heat wave after todays 19 degrees. Ps I hope you get 2 good perky boobs ; )

Kathie it sounds like you got a very tough job but bless you for doing it. Sorry to hear about losing your friend.

Hood I say peek away he he he, be safe with all that snow...

I don't remember any bruising with my 2 exchanges but I did with my lift and small implant on my healthy side. Pinkylee did your PS say if he was planning on doing some pocket work. If he did that it would explain the bruising. I sure hope things fluff for you (((HUG)))

Today I joined Marge and a few of the Dubuque riders for a mountain bike ride.   This was the 1st time I have ever riden in cold weather so I didn't know much and found a big mistake I made right away.   Well I haven't touched my bike since the Berryman Race (end of Sept) which it was very dirty so I took it outside and washed it up good and cleaned the chain really well and oiled it all up.  I must say it looked really good when I was done : - )   I took it for a test ride here and it was just fine but when I got to Dubuque I noticed my back breaks didn't work.  When I shared I just washed it they left me know that was a big mistake.  I must have froze it up some but one of the guys got it to work than I noticed none of my gears would shift so had to ride in my middle ring and the back ring was on the 2nd to hardest gear.  I made it work but with those Dubuque hills it was tough.  It helped to try and stand up on my bike when I was peddling.  When we were done Marge said we did 26 miles in 2 hours and 24 minutes our rate was only 10.7mph.  But with all those hills we did that wasn't too bad.

While I was gone today Rick and Jared got a couple of the shelf done in our storage room so I was able to move some of the stuff back out there and our family room is looking more like a family room again.  I still have more to put out there but at least it's looking a lot better.

sandy/sunshine! you deserve a medal!! what a workout, I hope you rewarded yourself with something yummy when you got back! :)

Pinkylee, I am so sorry you aren't happy right now, I am SURE they will fluff and be better, if you think about it, they are squished down with a bandage and like anything that is compressed for a period of time, it needs time to expand once released?? so I am thinking that takes a little while! hang in there!! Ouch on the bruising, I wasn't expecting to hear that, so much trauma to our bodies huh?? But there is a light at the end of the tunnel right? and its NOT a train!! Foot in mouth

Big hugs to everyone! I am off work tomorrow, going to grocery shop, and prep for surgery on Tuesday, I plan on being in bed for a couple of days (any excuse LOL!!) so want to stock up on groceries etc, I have rented some movies and also the 2nd season of The Tudors from HBO, its awesome, so on Tuesday when I get home, will be popping a vicodin and watching Johnathan Reese Myers ummmmm!!!!

Jean, I have 400cc, mentor smooth silicone, I am experiencing wrinkling, rippling as some say, in the top insides of both breast, I hope this does go away, for some reason it is bothering me on a concious level, I have had some feedback telling me that maybe the PS needed to go a size bigger, or that my skin is too thin.I go back to see my PS on the sixteenth of this month. I am enjoying the softness, and it was not as big an ordeal as I had expected, it sure is a big difference than the TE. I am hopeful as time passes that the wrinkling will smooth out as they drop into their pockets.

Hello everyone~~I haven't been on for a few days because of one thing or the other--appointment with the tax guy, one with the PS, a couple with clients of mine, and some time spent with family.  My PS appt. went well--he's very pleased with the healing on my "lift" side, said it was better than expected after the difficulty we had when my skin disintegrated on the mast. side and had to be grafted.  I was given some surgical tape to put over the incision that's supposed to lessen scar tissue.

I asked him AGAIN about getting rid of the surgical bra--he said you really hate that thing, don't you?  I said, YA THINK? and he said, Wear what you want!  I was so excited to go home and put on a real bra, and after a very short time, my lovely Victoria's Secret underwire bra started to hurt, like really hurt, and I had to take it off.  I was so disappointed!  I have one wire-free bra which is working out fine, but I notice it doesn't stay centered--it pulls toward my lift side.  The surgical bra did the same thing.  Any thoughts on this?

In catching up with posts, I came to the conclusion that Kathie should write a book!  You have an amazing life, and you seem to handle it all with such grace!

I got a call from JoAnn from this thread on Saturday, as we live in the same city, and we talked for an hour--making plans to meet in person soon, can't wait!  We found we have a great deal in common.  Also hoping to get together soon with Lynny55, who lives an hour away, where we have a condo.

Our Sunday paper featured a young woman who was diagnosed with BC two weeks after she lost her job due to the economy.  She rushed to get her lumpectomy done before her insurance ran out, and now has to find a way to pay for the rads she needs.  I feel lucky that insurance is covering most of my treatment, but my heart breaks for her and so many in her position.

Sounds like all the exchanges went okay last week, although a couple of you mentioned disappointment in projection, or lack of it--I have the same issue, but it's just been two weeks, so I'm trying to be patient until it's been 6 or so.  It's just hard to understand or imagine how we're going to fluff up over time!

Suzie was your bra a push up bra

I know my PS told me not to wear one of those for a while after my exchange.  I forget how long she said, maybe about 3-8 weeks

I have the VS ipex with no wire and really like them

Well i took a peak at the new girl.  What I could see of it, because the incision area is taped up is that it does look flat.  There is only minor bruising towards the cleavage area, but the ps told me was going to do pocket work in that area to create nice cleavage.  I guess I just have to wait for things to fluff into place.

I've been gone for a few days and I need your help ladies!!  I am getting my last fill tomorrow and have to make a decision on the final size of implants that I want.  I remember somebody posting a link on here that helped determine the size you want by using the expander size information that you already have, etc.  I will be getting Mentor silicone implants.  I've tried looking back through the threads but can't find that post.  Did anyone bookmark that or remember who posted that?  My PS told me that the implants only come every 50 ccs, for example I could get 450's or 500's, but then I hear about people on here that have gotten 470's so I'm confused!!  Thanks for your help!!

Wow - As usual, so many posts that I lose track of who said what. I do remember that Sandy did a very impressive bike ride - way to go lady!

And I hear that a lot of us are awaiting the magic fluff - Here's hoping for a lot of FLUFFING this month!

And Lorraine is wondering about NIPPLE CITY - does someone from February or March want to start this thread? If so, just let us know and we will add our names. Some of our sisters don't have to go that route since they had nipple sparing, but we will welcome them anyhow because we love them anyways!!!!!!!

Erin and Sandy - Continued thanks for providing us all w/ the post information. From your pictures on the picture forum I would be thrilled w/ your results. So there is an end to all this and it is better than TE's!

Have a great day ladies. We were going to get a snow storm, but it's looking pretty clear right now. - Jean

I think it was started by Karen (Moody) and I assume it was in the Breast Reconstruction section. Hopefully one of the other ladies will be ableto locate it. Take care.  Jean

Sue I just thought I would add a couple of the gals bumped up that thead that moody started

to help you out and any of the gals it's helpful to know the size of your rib cage, as in how many inches are you right under your TE.  The TE come in 3+ types so if you know which one and the dim that's helpful.  Plus share if you like the size of your TE or not.  Well I'm leaving here in 45 minutes but will check back later.

I better add I am not a expert at this but will try to be helpful but if you want take our info we give you and see what your PS says.  As I have stated in a diferent thread for most of us if we choose a implant that has projection of 5cm we might be happy.  But there are some that may want more and some that want less.  Do what ever you feel is best for your body.  What I may choose for me may not be what you want.  Long story short just wanted to say I don't think I know it all lol : - )

I just wished I knew some of this before my 1st exchange.  I had no idea what the size of my TE was my PS didn't share that.  We were just looking at CC's when picking out my 1st implant which I found out you can't just do that...

Sandy:  The bra I tried was a VS t-shirt bra from years back, so it's a bit stretched out and was always comfortable.  Not pushup, but underwire.  Today I'm trying m favorite VS front hook, also underwire, but now I'm thinking that I shouldn't be wearing the wire at all.  Thanks for your suggestion--I'll go and take a look at the Ipex.

I'm wearing a low V-neck sweater today but thinking of changing, as I look down and see the difference between the left and right breast, and I'm finding it depressing.  I would say my real side is a C and my implant side is a B.  Trying to keep my chin up, as so many of us are, but it's really hard!
