    Jax

Wearing padding in my bras and bathing suits has been the story of my life.  The mastectomy actually ADDED volume, even empty tissue expanders.  I was an A before surgery, and by saying A, I am being generous!  I bought some bathing suits last summer from Newport News with padded cups.  Walmart also sells inserts that you can sew in your suit but padded suits are much easier to deal with.  People won't stare if your chest is small, only if it is big!  Trust me, no one ever looked at me in a bathing suit.  Just have a good time!

Thanks, Rockwell girl (Sandy?) and Jean and everybody else as well. This seems like a great thread, with great women and, despite the cancer, high spirits. I think I'll stick around.

Diana - I am so sorry that your surgry will need to be moved, but I will definitely mark you as coming up in the future. My thoughts and prayers are with you!

Oh Jax - You deserve a vacation!!!!!!!!!!! I am so pleased for you! Have fun!

Psalmist - You must live near me, cold and now rainy, but better weather is predicted. Stiches out is cool!

Janet - We are glad you are sticking around!

So, I am off to the PS tomorrow to plan for my exchange. It is hard to believe that it has been 3 months since my surgery already! I am pleased to think that in another month I may even bounce again!

Janet we'd love for you to stick around...

I hope you were able to find a thread about the 410's and get some needed info you wanted.  I'm not sure if any of us here have them.  If so will you ladies chime in and let Janet know how you feel (literally) about your implant.

well today I'm going to pamper myself once and get my hair done.  I'm one that usually just lets it grow into a new longer style and only gets it done about 4 times a year.  So it's time to say...wash that gray right out of my hair : - )

I'm so excited for all of you getting your exchange surgeries today and can't wait to hear about your results!!  I'll be anxious to hear what your PS's have you do as far as support bras, etc. also.  Sounds like there is quite a variance there.  I have a feeling mine won't tell me anything in that regard so I am curious what the majority of you are told!!  Keep us posted!

Just wanted to let you all know I had my exchange on March 6th.  All went well.  So much better than expanders.  Still pretty sore and swollen but doing ok.  Sent my husband to Penneys to get the front zip sports bras someone here suggested, they are great.  I'm wearing them 24/7.  I had capsular contractures on both sides so I ended up with drains.  They are even more tolerable this time. Going back to PS Friday.  It's 220 mile round trip but worth it.  Not sure what size I ended up with guess he will tell me then.  All I can say say is they feel large :o).

Good luck to each of you.  Exchange is a piece of cake compare to BMs.

Has anyone had scar revision surgery after their exchange?  My wife (MarketingMom) is going in on the 23rd to fix do some adjustments due to some pockets forming forcing some assymetry , but mostly to fix some scars that are probably not healing right after the sutures popped early.

It has only been 3 months since the exchange but my wife are wondering why scar revision surgery is needed even if the scars do disappear over time.  Is it so they heal appropriately and blend in better?

Jean:  I just found out that there is a cancellation on the 20th - next week - and so I will be having my exchange moved to 3/20 instead of 4/10!  Woohoo!

Laura:  Oh, I am so sorry to hear that rads is so hard on you.  I am praying for some relief in this regard.  I pray the time just flies by so quickly and it will be OVER!!!

Route 53 - with what I know about scar revision, I would not hesitate to undergo this procedure if the PS feels the scar warrants revision.  They know when a scar appears as though it will not heal properly and might become hypertrophic and this can result in a scar which will keloid or result in thickening which you will not want to SEE much less feel.

Just wanted to give you a quick update after seeing the ps yesterday about my exchange and problems with rippling in the cleavage area.  He wants me to have it replaced with the gummy bear type implant when it becomes available.  I hope that's soon!  I want to look nice for my daughter's wedding in September!

    Dear Hood,

Good to hear that the exchange is over.  Really sorry about the rippling.  Although it is disappointing, at least you'll be getting the "gummy bears"!  Good for you.

Hang in there and feel better.

Hood - That's interesting about the switch to gummi bear type implant. I understand it will be available soon in the US.

Deborah - Cool news! I bet you are psyched!!!

Laura - I am so sorry that the rads are taking their toll on you! You are such an upbeat lady and I know they must be doing a number or we would not even know it. Please take care of yourself and give yourself time to rest!

Sandy - Have fun getting your hair done! There are some ladies on this forum that do hair, too bad we can't use one another for these things!

Lorraine - I have been married for almost 29 years, but if I was planning a wedding I would call you!

Route53 - Sorry, I know nothing about scar revisions.

HunyB2 - Glad to hear from you. And thanks for the update! I am looking forward to my next surgery. Huh? Did I say that???!!??

Finished with fills Dec. 31 had exchange done Feb 18th.  I am on lifting restriction for 3 more weeks.  I had silacone implants and my PS is thinking we need to do a little more work before the nipple reconstruction.  He is a perfectionist and can not stand that one looks lower than the other to him.  I don't like the wrinkles but at least they are not rock hard like the expanders.  Take care you all Janet

Well I just got back from my exchange. I hurt but feel great otherwise. I am having some pain but I think she did a pocket revision on the right. My expanders were filled to 400 and my implant are allergan naturelle 600cc. They are pretty big maybe that is why they hurt. It is not at all as bad as the mastectomy. The pain is different. Not so muscular as before mostly incisional pain that is burning pain. They are so soft and so far I am very happy. My surgeon makes me wear a surgical bra 24/7 for 4 weeks. I unsnapped it to look at them and it hurt worse to not have support. I will be praying for all of you that you have good outcomes. I will post pictures of before and after sometime soon. It really has been great to read all of the information you all put on this website. The nurse at the surgery center told me people come from all over the country to have her do their boobs. I knew she was good but not that good. I am rambling it must be the pain meds!

Hood - I have heard that the approval for the Inamed/Allergan 410 will not likely be prior to December of 2010.  I hope I am wrong about that Cry - as it would be great if they were made available this year and could be an option for my sister, who will be having her exchange this summer as well.  So I would see if there is another Allergan silicone implant style with dimensions which might better suit you - just in the event you really do want to get this done by August, at the very latest.

Route53...I'm having a scar revision when I have my exchange. One of my drain scars is raised, red and pretty angry. It reminds me of a really bad pimple. He says during the the exchange, he will pull it back in from the inside. I'm not sure if this helps you or your wife but that's what he called a scar revision at this point. Hope it helps.

Hi all---I'm home and so far think my implants are looking darn good.  I had some pocket revisions and that hurts but at least it hurts and nerves are still good!  The expander scratching on my ribs is gone.  The shelf boob is gone and now nice and smooth.  The stretching pain around the side is gone.  I might even look close to normal.  And they are soft...not bricks.

Anesthesia left me dry as the desert and I haven't peed yet....almost 6 hours and I'm drinking a lot.  Hope that doesn't become a problem.   Could be Embarrassing.
