for my 2nd exchange I stayed in the hospital because otherwise I would have had to of been back there at 8:00 in the morning and it was Dec 11 and didn't know what to expect with the weather.
Most of us only need a 3-7 days off work as long as your work isn't too stressful or have major lifting.
Mom of two after my 1st exchange I was actually surprised that I got a little smaller after a week. I didn't really realize I was swollen until I got smaller. In my case I already thought I was smaller than my TE so was even more disappointment when I got even smaller.
Angela I saw your pix and have have great results
sorry ladies I had a lot of interruption but at least I ‘m up to page 44 : )
Laura hang in there your one tough chick : - )

Hi to all! I have not posted for awhile but have been a lurker, too- sort of reminds me of the telephone party lines when I was a young girl. Anyone under 50 probably won't have any idea what I am talking about.
Tomorrow will be two weeks since my exchange surgery (600 cc, high profile mentor, silicone gel), but have not seen much fluffing or other positive changes. I wore a light padded bra to work today but still did not have much projection and it was uncomfortable. So, I will stick with sports bras for now but it seems counterproductive to squish the girls 24x7. My stitches will be removed on Thursday, and I plan on bringing up my concern about the east/west migration of the implants. I specifically told my PS that I did not want underarm boobs - requested upfront, upright, and perky, please.
I have a question . . . do your implants stay cold a lot longer than the rest of your body? I went for a two mile walk tonight after work in 40+ degrees weather, which is balmy for Montana this time of year. The implants are still slightly cooler to the touch than the rest of my body. Guess I will need to knit some boobie covers or wear vests.
My prayers and best wishes go out to Lexi4, Sam1991, Firstmate, Boyzbeebs, Lisasayers and Whippetmom.
Thanks everyone for sharing your trials, tribulations and victories - you are all awesome women!
Sharon

Jaimaih - I don't think there are any averages or usual when it comes to PS, but my PS likes to wait about 6 weeks after the last fill. Here's hoping your exchange come soon!
Yvonne - Your weekend Holiday sounds wonderful. Baileys for breakfast coffee, huh? Quite a treat! You certainly have some people out there that love you! And I can tell why from your posts!
Sharon - I don't know about implants, but I can tell you that the TEs are certainly colder than the real thing. My husband and I are hikers, summer and winter and we camp out. So this has been a real problem for me. We have joked that I we are going to patten foob warmers - similar to hand warmers and toe warmers - but pink and round and with little pink ribbons. The idea is that we need to get a bra with a pocket (maybe like a nursing bra) and put these warmers in between the two layers. What do you think? Maybe I should patten the idea and do that for my home consulting business!!
Take care ladies. Now I do need to get to work. - Jean

Sharon- the implants do stay cooler than the rest of your body. Initially, I found myself shivering (in our bitter AZ November) which made my pects jump. It was a bit unnerving, but it has settled down. Stay warm.
Jax-you're sassy and chic. What else can I say.
Laura-I hope you're kicking the rads a$$ now.
Annie-so glad you could do lap. What a relief. Heal well.

Just wondering how your TE's are holding up to rads? I'm starting my tanning sessions in about 4 weeks (pre-exchange).

Tracy - Hoping to hear today about your scan results...
Annie - Yes, what a blessing to have this done via lap...healing is so much faster...
Prayers are going out to all of those having surgery this week...
I have my preop tomorrow with my PS and it is going to be a "read my lips" discussion, e.g., my implants must NOT be smaller than my expanders!
Something just horrid happened yesterday, apart from having to put to sleep our cat of 17 years and DH and I were so very distressed and sad. But also, one of our laptops crashed - the one with all of my photos on it - and included in those photos were those of my breasts before surgery and my expander progress up to this point. I was going to post all of those photos on the picture's forum after my exchange this week. I had deleted everything from my camera - just for privacy issues - and so it is all lost. I am so bummed. Nothing was backed up, of course. So I will have my expander photos at final fill and the exchange to post.
Anyway...hugs to all having surgery this week...

Oh Deborah,
I am so sorry about your cat. They can be such comfort in our down time. Seventeen years is an admirable friendship.
Don't give up on your laptop. Sometimes those Geek Squad types can restore files.
I'm sorry for your double loss.

Whippetmom~ I am sorry about your cat.
I got a surgery date I am having my exchange on June 17 @ 10:15. I am now filled up to 550CC so i am done with fills. Now I will just sit and wait for 3 months I think I have to go back and see my one more time before but I am thrilled with having a date. Now I have everything crossed that my chemo. stays on schedule.

Deborah, I'm so sorry about your cat. Losing a pet is so hard. I'm with Carol on your laptop -- if you don't mind some techie guys possibly seeing your photos, a lot can be restored from a crashed computer.
Laura, enjoy those grandkids!!!
Tracey, still holding lots of positive thoughts for you today.
Sharon, I have major trouble with my implants and temperature. My muscles on the left still seize up pretty often (like the spasms you get with the TEs), and when it's cold it's a lot worse. And my foobs are cold to the touch most of the time. I was warned about that by a friend who had double mx with implants 11 years ago. She described it like having two of those freezer gel packs on your chest all winter.
Jean - LOVE the idea of the foob warmers! That could actually work! They'd have to be really flexible so they wouldn't look bumpy under clothes, but you also have to figure most of the time you'd be wearing them with bulky sweaters or sweatshirts, right? Would have loved some of those on my cold-day walks this winter!

Deborah - I am so sorry about your cat. I know that my animals are almost like my children. Your cat will be missed. And, I agree w/ the other ladies, geeks can do wonders for recovering lost files - if you can deal w/ it.
Jaimieh - Wow - a date. We will add you! Best wishes!
Pam - For someone that only skimmed the posts, you did a great job of responding.

I'm seeing the ps next Monday and should get an exchange/lift/chemo port removal date then. Does anybody know how long it takes to heal after exchange surgery? My radiation will be after exchange and rad onc wants to start by April 16th -- doesn't give me much time to heal! -bonnie

I just got back from my pre-op visit for my revision surgery scheduled tomorrow. I am so upset, because I found out I'll have drains in again. I did not need them for the last revision, and did not expect to have them again. Also, he said I can't leave on my vacation trip as early as I had planned. Sorry for the rant, but this process just keeps going on and on, and is interfering with the plans I had for my life this year!

I know how you feel about the drains, firstmate. I'm having my first exchange next week, and the PS tells me I'll have drains, too. Arrrrrgh!
I can't wait for the exchange, however. Anybody else have trouble dressing for work? Today I wore a somewhat thin blouse and forgot to take my sweater to work with me, and all day long I felt as though my boobs (unnaturally shaped TEs) were sticking WAY out. I feel pretty self-conscious because everybody knows I had breast cancer and now here I am walking around with two turtle shells on my chest. I debated wearing my winter coat all day....Yes, as somebody said, the trials we face....

Bkokie - I am sure someone will pipe in as to healing from an exchange. My PS told me to expect to take up to one week off from work, and four weeks off from strenuous physical exercises.
Firstmate - Major bummer. I have not been told that I would have drains after my exchange, but I was told that there may be pocket revision. Does that make the difference? I don't blame you for being upset. Drains are NO FUN! I hope you can leave for your vacation just as soon as humanly possible - you deserve to be able to get on with your fun plans! Rant all you want! I would too! We will be thinking of you and are other surgery sisters tomorrow!
Janet - Actually, I was thinking the same thing. During the winter it didn't really matter. I look the same w/ or w/o foobs under loose sweaters and jackets. But the weather is getting nicer and I certainly feel and look well endowed. I decided to lift my head and show them off. What the heck - I earned them!

Hey Ladies,
I am back and doing okay after my exchange. The ps used mentor 450 HP's. They are looking a little flattish at the moment, but I can already tell by gently poking them, that they are sooo much softer. My left foobie actually feels like a normal boobie. The right side, where I had a lat flap done, is much softer but a bit firmer than the left.
I am a little surprised at how sore I am feeling. I knew that I would be uncomfortable, but I am experiencing quite a bit of a burning sensation. Is this normal?
Deborah,
I am very sorry for the loss of your kitty. Our pets are family, too. Please know that I am thinking of you.
Hugs,
Lexi

Okay I got some information on what type of expander that I have in can anyone help me determine what size (approximately) i am. I have a double chamber Sientra 470 that is A- 14.2, b- 12.7 and C- 5.5 Does any of this make sense to anyone ?? I have been expanded to 550cc and I was told today that she could put in a bunch of different possiblities but I want to make sure I know what I am getting. I also did find out that My PS uses Mentors or natrelles.
Thanks for any help!

Today my PS's office called and said he is so busy we need to schedule the exchange right now--for JUNE!!! So it's going to be June 19, to silicone gel implants. I'm still getting fills for my bilateral expanders and probably will get at least one more. Right now I think I'm around 380 cc.(?), Allergan expanders. I just would like to be a B cup size, similar to what I was before. I read somewhere on this thread that about 220-240 cc. equals one cup size--is that right?? Is that how it turned out for most of you? My PS keeps saying, "How big do you want to be?" and I'm kind of stymied to tell him, since nothing is done in cup sizes, just ccs. Is it best to get high profile or medium plus (which is what Mentor has, I see). I do not want my boobs to look like hamburger buns. Hope you all know more about this than I do.

Lexi - I'm glad surgery is behind you and I'll be anxious to see how happy you are with your 450 hp's. That is the size I'm getting. What is your rib cage measurement? Or what size of bra band do you wear? What cup size do you anticipate being? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just getting so anxious to have my surgery and see what my results will be!

Your illness is limited.
It cannot
Cripple love
Shatter hope
Corrode faith
Destroy peace
Kill friendship
Supress memories
Silence courage
Invade the soul
Steal eternal life
It cannot conquer the Spirit
