    Sandy

you are so smart with the computer. you know all the short cuts....lucky you....

I think I know what happened to our computers.  It seems like when someone post a large picture on the forum it throws everything off for a while.  I did notice that some of the ladies (I won't call names  LOL)  got overly excited about Tracey's scan results and posted in a wild (and that is putting it mildly) way.......that is when it messed up.......I am not putting down showing excitment of a sister getting good results, I think we should be overly excited....I just wanted to see if others thought that might be the problem.....WE DO NEED TO SHOUT FOR JOY WHEN A SISTER GETS A GOOD REPORT !!!!!

Hi sweeties, so glad Kathie that you have your soft, new boobies!!! Oh man, are you gonna love this in a few weeks, and even now (5 months out) mine looks more natural daily....bra shopping when you feel up to it, go buy some nice naughty ones to let your girls ride in style!!!!

Psalmist, prayers for your hubby, but thank god it was not a heart attack.  So often stress is the culprit, but if there is something going on, he's in the right place to find it out and fix it.  Bless you and he and I will keep you in my prayers.

I am sleepy, but just want to thank you all for the prayers....no news yet....I am hoping this means that it is just uneventful and that they will tell me when I have my post op.....too scared to call or have hubby call.  Heck of a way to recover tho, sheesh.

love, prayers, soft boobies, negative scans and easy recoveries for everyone.

Wow, you girls are pretty terrific! I am having a bit of a tough time reading through all the posts. My eyes get crossed! However, the support you provide is AWESOME!

I am feeling pretty good as far as soreness. I have found the burning sensation I have is where the ps cleaned up the previous scar from the lat flap. I think it will look nice after all is healed.

I did put on a sport bra under the surgical bra they sent me home in. I was getting a rash on my upper tummy area from the bra rubbing. I feel pretty darned compressed and I am hoping that I don't smash the new foobies.

I hope the ladies having their exchanges this week do well and heal completely.

    Psalmist,

Thinking of you and your dh. Prayers for quick answers and healing to his body.

So happy for your friend Sandy!  That is wonderful news - one lucky girl dodged the bullet! I am with you cutting and pasting...I don't have a good enough memory and my short hand is non existent.

Deborah and Lisa - Good luck tomorrow.  I'll have all my outer bits crossed for you until I hear from you!

Lexi - Here's a prayer for quick healing for you.  Maybe you should try some of those yoga positions where you get down on your hands and knees and let the girls hang freely to fluff up!  ROTFLOL!

Any news Psalmist????? Waiting and wondering.

Thinking of you today Boyzbeebs and Desny!!

I am enjoying a day off and FINALLY working on getting some thank you cards out to my dear friends and family for all the wonderful support I received during my sugery and after.  I've gotten so caught up with my new online friends that I have neglected this for a bit.  It is a job I really don't like but I am making myself do it.  A huge cup of coffee and I'm going for it.  Does this job call for Bailey's in my coffee????  Things that make me go hmmmmmmm.

Good luck to Deborah and Lisa tomorrow and thinking of Boyzbeebs and Desny.

I'm sore today but it's more the donor sites from the fat grafts The breast feel mildly uncomfortable. But I've managed it all with ice, extra strength tylenol, ibuprofen and valium. I'm resting but actually feel better when I get up and move around a little. No lifting etc...but walking around my house helps.

Looking forward to my glass of wine tonight and my shower tomorrow. This surgery was wonderfully easier. I wish this all for everyone. I'm soft and thrilled with my outcome. Snuck a look at my cleavage. woot woot!!!

Psalmist..I'm sorry to hear about your DH. I hope he feels better and is healing.....you too.

Annie....still a pretzel for you with everything crossed. The waiting is so hard. One of these times where instant gratification would be nice!!!!

Thank you everyone for the well-wishes and prayers for my exchange tomorrow.  I am excited - looking forward to this stage of reconstruction.  I have more anxious anticipation than I had with my mastectomies.  I was as calm as a cucumber for that surgery!  This one has to do with issues on which I had input and control, e.g., selecting which style and size of implants...and so this is the type of angst I have going on currently.

I decided to not go with the Allergan extra high profile Style 45 - and go with the Style 20 - which is what I know Linda has and a number of others on these forums.  It is still considered "high" profile, but has a wider base and less projection.  I was concerned about too much step-off and upper pole breast fullness on my frame - with the Style 45....Whew!  Just called the PS a little while ago to tell her which one I wanted to use.  She wrote in my medical record yesterday, "patient has extensive knowledge regarding implant style and sizing and she will advise of her choice tomorrow."  I was not too keen about her writing that - it felt as though if the outcome was not desirable, it would have been my decision and any "redo" might be denied.  However, she did agree that the Style 20 is the one she would have chosen for me....

Hoping everyone else is feeling a peace now about their upcoming surgeries....

Kathie~~I noticed you mentioned fat grafts, which is a possibility for me.  I'm pretty upset today after my appt with my PS--I told him I was concerned that my implant side (left) is a full cup smaller than my lift side (right).  My exchange was 2/9.  I'm trying not to cry and throw things, but I'm crying and throwing things.

He had mentioned fat grafts earlier, and now brings up the possibility of an implant replacement.  I received the Naturelle silicone 10, 420cc.  There is definitely not enough projection, as my 36C bra fits the right but has empty space on the left.  PS also says insurance may not cover fat grafts, which is a big problem for me.  He says my right side is still healing and is giving it another month, saying there still may be swelling, but I don't believe that is the case.

Another month seems like forever to me, and if one more person says I should consider myself lucky that I'm alive, blah blah blah, I'm going to have to hit someone!  I don't know what to think or what to do next.  Any wise words out there?

Sandy - I am getting 475 cc's, and so I will have the following implant dimensions:  12.6 diameter by 5.5 projection.  This would be as opposed to the Style 45, which is 12.4 by 6.0.   I have enough information regarding implant profiles now to choke a horse.  I saved it all and will compile it for a separate thread to use someday.  Perhaps you and I could come up with a thread to compile information on expanders to implants [details on how to get expander data and dimensions, etc.] so that we can refer those who come to Exchange City with questions re: implant sizing to that thread.  What do you think?

Deborah~~you have a great idea there--everyone is so impressed with all your research.  When my implant was chosen, I wasn't aware I'd have any input.  I also have a hard time sticking up for myself sometimes.  Other women need to know they have choices.

Suzie - Your PS used a moderate profile implant.  Style 10 in a 420 cc is 14.0 diameter by 3.8 projection.  Not much projection.  Had he used the Style 20, which is full projection, a 420 cc implant would have been 12.0 diameter by 5.2 projection.  A better projection, especially if you want symmetry for your natural breast.  Getting projection on a reconstructed breast is tough to do....and unless you really need that width [a broader ribcage/chest, for example] - you might ask him to switch you out to a Style 20.  That would be an easier fix than a graft.  Did you look at Sandy's exchange photos on the picture's forum?  It is a good measure by which you can see how projection was met to get symmetry with her lifted healthy breast.  Don't cry honey and put the vase down and just tell your PS you have done some research and you feel that you did not get an implant with sufficient projection.  That is, IF I was reading this correctly and you DID get a Style 10 implant....look at your little implant card you would have received in the hospital and verify....

I had fat grafts during my exchange. I needed some more "fat" above the implants. I had some dimpling from where the mastectomy ended and the expanders began. I knew from the beginning that was what my Ps was going to do, Figured a little lipo was a good trade off. I'm a little sore but as far as I can tell, they look lovely...no dimpling...smooth transition to the implants.

I'm very happy so far....and waaay more comfortable!!!

    Take care and good luck

Thank you Dianne, Sandy, Lisa - Lisa I just prayed for an excellent result for you tomorrow...

You guys are going to think I am simply nuts, but I am going to miss my expanders.  They do not bother me at all and the joy of going braless has been fabulous.  Also, in clothing, I have these perky, perfectly shaped breasts and no one would know what is underneath my sweater!  Ha!  Do you know how many friends I have shocked when I just lift up my top and there they are?  Why, just the other day I showed the valet at the Cheesecake Factory.  JUST KIDDING!!!

Deborah,  I am sure they would give you the expanders if you tell them before surgery.   lol  I remember that someone talked about that on this forum. My expanders were not all that bad either, just hard and that was mostly on my rad side...I posted pix of my expanders after fills were done....... I am so excited for you.....So what cup size will you be with the 475cc.....you are gettin 100cc more than me and I am a C...I will be anxiously waiting to hear from you....

Deborah - You are too funny!  You sound so up and that is great!  I won't miss my little turtle shell at all.  I am worried about my exchange already and it is only in May!  I asked my PS what he plans to put in (I felt so uneducated as some of you are so knowledgeable about this stuff) and he said he will put in whatever looks the best with my real boob.  He did mention Allergan and something else I hadn't heard of.  He didn't seem to give me options of size or models.  I didn't get into any further at that time but I do seem him every week still for dressing changes, so I'll have to broach the subject again soon.

I've only read loopers comment so far...

I just want to share you have a couple options

    1. you could consider a bigger implant which would also give you better projection

    2. make your healthy side smaller and lift it up if needed

    3. go with a lot bigger implant and a implant on your healthy side with a lift also if needed.

the insurance should pay for all 3 options

Cathee, your doctor's not enough blood supply comment made me laugh.  Makes sense though.  I wish you ladies well with your exchanges.  I am happy for you and a bit jealous.  I want these "turtle shells" out too.  Today I bumped into a friend of mine at work.  He was like "was that your breast that just hit me".  I told him unfortunately it was....sorry.  We laughed about it.  Rockwell, thanks for the advice.  I need input.  I have to share what I am thankful for.  This last fill must have lifted whatever was pinching me super bad one one of my ribs.  I still feel it but it is so much better...so far I must say.  Well, I must give the kids a bath.  I have a 4 and a 2 year old.  Whippetmom...I love the Cheesecake Factory and your humor.  Kristin  Oh, by the way I printed my report today from my bm TE surgery.  I later I will check out which expanders I have.  It's the beauty of working at the hospital.  :)

Tracey - You are a nut!!!!  Gotta love you!  I don't think I'll ever miss this little iron foob of mine.

Skippycris - I got the blood supply story from my PS and GS too.  They claim that part of why I am not healing which makes me very scared to have the next surgery.  I too work in a hospital and sometimes you find out too much LOL!  Just another job hazzard I guess. I am glad you are feeling some relief from your evil TE's.

Yvonne I would just suggest to tell your PS you'd like to have at least 5cm projection

it seems like most gals that have less than that aren't happy : (

    Suzie 3.8 projection

oh go for the bigger implant with better projection

you will be so much happier

the 2nd exchange should be a piece a cake
