Thanks, Di, that put the pieces together for me! I've also been questioning myself is this REALLY necessary for me? I hate surgery! But besides the look, I just don't want to go the rest of my life with pain, whether minor or major. Your baby is too cute!

So I am scheduled for revision surgery 8/6. He won't go into previous incisions until at least 3 mos post surgery. I saw my PS today. I had a small sticky note of things to mention and was nervous! I was so anxious that he would not see what I do or think I was being too picky, etc. So first thing he said was, that he thought the left pocket looked a little lower than right and a little wider; which was #1 on my list..so immediately felt at ease! Funny thing is that I like both my left foob and right foob, but they are different. Righty had more pocket work so sits up higher and is fuller in upper pole-ish. Left is a little wider and fullness is a little lower. So he said I can have righty match lefty or lefty match righty....oh the decisions.. lol! I have anatomicals, but they are soft and I do get cleavage with my sportsy-ish cotton bra. I asked about fat grafting and he said that is also an option, but doesn't think I really need it..then scheduler said that cigna or aetna and blue cross have been routinely denying this lately..so will need to check on it. So as folks have said above, just now thinking..really??!! another surgery??!? really??!! I see him back again 7/24 for recheck and then pre op 8/5, surgery 8/6. Size is perfect for me. casually tried on my bikini top from last year..way too small..tee hee ((BIG SMILE))

Mamatwinz,
I have blue cross so now you have me thinking...I have revision on July 9th..debating if I want to go a little bigger just not that happy ...right turned alittle due to underwire and is smaller and projection isent like lefty..I have the Seintra 550hp oval...so conflicted so I wrote some things down like you have for pr op on June 24.. But this time taking husband..I was looking at Allergan 410 so I will see what the samples feel like when I se him..would like symmetry or close to it..maybe I'm being to pickey0 -
sherry, everyone said i looked great, and i agreed, but i just wished... my size is perfect, skin looks good, incisions are good, and am thankful of how far ive come..but..wanted more symmetry..this what i heard, everyone has different sized breasts, no one has perfect breasts, etc.... i wrote down what i saw, etc and was looking forward to and kinda dreading todays appt..luckily he saw what i did, totally revisable, so sweet, got date before i left for revision! mine have continued to settle since surgery 6 wks ago, so maybe i wont need it! i will find out from bcbs about grafting and whatever it is, it is. good luck to u! yes, def bring a post it to address all..i did forget to ask re bras, but remembered hard spot at imf, which was scar tissue that i will continue to massage and stretch, ok'd for all activty, but no push ups..i have sientra hp, round base 425cc..no u r not being too picky...let me know how it goes...hugs..

Does everyone have revision surgery? I guess I naively thought they'd look good the first time around! What are you all doing about nips? I have to confess, it's been nice not having the headlights on when I wear knit tops! My PS says I'll want them, but I'm not too sure about that! I always felt self conscious about my old ones and like my new no show look.

I'm not planning on revision. They are not perfect....neither were the originals. I would change two issues if I could magically do it. But I have decided that they are good enough as is. I have no assurance that a revision will be an improvement and I do not think that the changes I want are worth another trip with general anesthesia.
I am scheduled for nips in August. I am wearing a bra all of the time for support anyway so the headlight thing is not a factor. It is a personal choice. For me, having them and then the tattooed areolas will help me feel finished. I do not mind NOT having them, which kind of surprises me. But I think I will like having them back.0 -
Mamatwinz,
I know are breasts aren't perfect but would like symmetry ,no ripples and no Oscar the grouch crinkled face when I move my left arm..but the thing that bothers me is the right being noticeably smaller than left he could have put a different sz with a little more projection to even out..minus all that they look ok0 -
sherry, yes, that is my main thing, symmetry...i may not go thru with my revision..we'll see. u have to be happy with u, so do what u feel u need to do and that will be right for u. there is no guarantee with revision either, which i know. i did not think these would settle or change, but they have, so i may get to where i want to be or where revision is not worth it..maybe not. that is why my ps wants to see me again 7/24 to re exam re status prior to pre op...u def do not need to prove or justify how u feel..that was my anxiety about my appt yesterday..really weeks of anxiety for nothing! i had thought about hiw to say my concerns without being negative, etc...this is what i see, this is what would make me happy.. good luck! i am not getting nips..likely 3-d tatoo.

Andrea, I'm just three weeks out from exchange but I don't think I'll need revision and at this point, I'm not planning on nips or tattoos. Everybody comes at it differently, for sure. I don't mind not having nipples now and don't want to go through any more procedures - I'm ready to be done. The good thing is, I can always do it later if I change my mind.
Best wishes to you!

MNSusan, that is a very good point. We can always have them done later, if we desire. At this point, I don't want them, I just want my exchange done, and hopefully it will look good enough that I won't want or need a revision. Sure hope my radiated side behaves!

Yeah went to ps he said i can wear any supportive push up bra and they took out the drain and i dont have to wear compression on my abdomen anymore. Felt great then on the way home i sneezed and felt a sharp pain in right breast lol leave it to me.
Im not having anymore revisions and I will be getting tats for nipples.
Hope everyone is doing well. Healing hugs0 -
sherry..bcbs of nc has policy stating fat grafting is investigational/experimental as of january 2013! lovely. Mine is bcbs of ill. and likely the same, but all bcbs are different entities so maybe not.

Melmcbee, yay for having the drain removed! Those things are not fun! Did your PS go in through the original surgery scar? I had radiation too, and was wondering if that would affect the healing on that side. Are you going to see Vinnie for your tats? I hear he's the best. I'd love to have him do mine, but the east coast is a bit far for me to go.
Rest up, and continue to heal!

Hello ladies!
I have a question. I am 5 weeks MX post op, I have TE's in right now. I was out in the sun the other day and of course had a sports bra and tank top on but then ended up the next day with a heat rash on my breasts. It is a raised red blotchy rash, and my PS said he was pretty confident it was a heat rash but wants to put me on an antibiotic just in case.
I don't like drugs and I do not like antibiotics...
Does anyone have an idea why? What kind of infection would they be worried about? Has anyone had this happen to them?
I'm not sure if I should be worried or not... and I have not been able to get the prescription for the antibiotic.

Hi Ladies, just jumped to this forum as I am done radiation and saw my PS today to start the process of exchange surgery for TE's. Probably six months out, but if he can do sooner he will. What kind of timing did any of you have if you also had radiation? I am leaning towards silicone for the favorable comments on how they feel. Anyone else have comments on silicone vs. saline? I've had the TE's since October 6th of 2012; cannot come too soon!!

mainegirl, congrats on finishing rads! I had my TEs placed before radiation too, and it will be 7 months between my last radiation treatment and my exchange date. My PS said I had to wait at least 6 months, and when I saw him this week, he thought I had healed well, and we could proceed with implants. I felt several in his office, and decided on the Natrelle 20 silicone rounds. He said there would be less rippling with silicone, and they would feel more natural. I liked how they felt versus the saline or the textured teardrop shaped Natrelle 410s. He thinks they will achieve the best results for me, and I trust his decision. I'm looking forward to having these awful TEs removed!

Sherry.....I can identify with the scrunched up foobs when a arm is moved!
AKA:Oscar the grouch crinkled face when I move X 2, is what live with now.....any wonder I need a revision?
Mine is BOTH foobs crinkled with any movement (lovely) and then there is my one shar pei foob, that went from a shar pei puppy to a shar pei dog (less wrinkles, but a fold in the dead center where I "store" a cotton ball)....so far this is NOT a restoration for me....just larger* softness (implants)
* but a lot smaller than the "originals"

Can someone help me understand why there is so much wrinkling/rippling/dimpling after exchange? I thought a close pocket was supposed to prevent that? I really don't know much about implants and exchange, so could you please explain it to me? Thanks!

My skin stuck to the muscle during healing .....I did not get my TE's for a month after my BMX and my skin did not "mound" all over the TE, only where not "stuck".....my revision may include freeing my skin and redraping....my skin is thin where it "stuck"

My PS explained rippling to me this way: he held up a silicone implant with two fingers and when he did, there were all kinds of ripples. Because most ladies have fat tissue along with breast tissue to cover the implants you don't notice the ripples. But since we have had mastectomies, some fat and most all breast tissue has been removed. Couple that with the thin often over stretched skin and every dent and ripple becomes more noticeable. It is also often more noticeable on thinner women. Hope this helps.

Wow Mamatwinz, that scares me about the insurance because I have bcbs and I had fat grafting with my exchange. I hope they dont deny it and the ps office want me to pay for it.
Andtea I am getting my tats done from a lady that comes to my ps office. Ive seen her work and its good. I think she trained with Vinnie. Lets see I had to wait 3 months from radiation to get my exchange surgery. I actually had saline implants prior to my diagnoses and when I lost weight they had rippling. I know that the reason he did the fat grafting this time is because he said my skin was real thin and he didnt want any rippling.
Welcome Mainegirl and congrats on finishing rads. I chose to get silicon this time because they are softer an less likely to have rippling.
Chantel, Im sorry but I dont know what infection they are woried about. I just know they hassle me about staying out of the sun this last year.Hope you feel beytee.

I am at the 1 month mark with my new implants. I feel I have a lot of issues. I have double bubble under right breast, I have a wide cleavege, one is higher than the other. I see my PS 6-17. Does anyone else have any similar issues. I am so dissappointed. What will I have to do to fix these problems??

Hey ladies......looks like I'm swapping TEs for implants on my 52nd birthday - August 7.....YAY!! I'll be a bodacious 52 years old
. And we're going with just what Whippetmom recommended, Allergan Style 20, 750cc - a high profile smooth round silicone implant.Coffee4me: I'm so sorry that you're experiencing this diappointment. Now that I'm looking forward to exchange I'm beginning to understand the exchange anxiety I've read about here. I hope you can get some resolution after you discuss with your PS.
Mainegirl: My PS requires a 3-4 month wait after final fill. I didn't have rads and don't know if he requires a longer wait in that case. I hope the next several months go well for you

Andrea I needed a revision because one settled lower. Due to more skin. She said it was up to me and it was noticeable. I finally have cleavage and I want to show it. I didn't want to feel self conscious about it.
She did fat grafting, but if insurance doesn't cover she won't bill me for it.
I like the smoothness of no nips. I do not want them "on" all the time. Plus sometimes they don't take or only one does. I need to be done. I have had 4 surgeries in 7 months. I'm getting tattoos done in July. My ps is getting certified for 3-D and she needs to bring a patient. So she asked me.0 -
Sweetandspecial, what a great birthday present! Bet you can't wait!
Thank you to all who answered my question about revisions. It helped me understand how this could happen. I hope everyone having revisions will heal quickly with good results.
It does make me feel better hearing others have decided to forgo nipples. My PS is sure I won't be happy without them, but wearing tops with no headlights on sounds wonderful to me. Had to deal with that all my adult life and am happy not to worry about it anymore.0 -
Mamatwinz,
I had fat grafting the first time not a big fan..I'm not getting Nips either ..when I had MX BS made my aerolas smaller so I don't need them tattooed and I don't care for permanant headlights...
Di2012,
Looks like we have the same issue with Oscar ..would like to go alittle bigger ..so going to look at the Allergan 410 samples vs the sientras I have looks like more sz in the Allergan with more projection which Im looking for without the Oscar..0 -
Andrea63: I didn't mention it in my last post but I'm leaning toward no nip reconstruction also, just 3D tats down the road. It's a personal decision and not a single one of us feels exactly the same about it. For myself, having the breast mound back is the primary factor in making me feel whole again. My husband has NO problem being attracted to me even with the TEs so I'm pretty confident the softer, squishier implants will just be icing on the cake for him
. Now MY sex drive, on the other hand, is another story (thanks to Arimidex
), but as long as Duracell and Energizer stay in business my hubby and I will do just fine.....lol!0
