The promised rain is falling on the camper roof. I can't watch news this morning because dh has three sports recordings in progress including Tour de France and Wimbledon. I should go and check on him because he's still in bed.

So glad the holiday weekend is over. It was hot during the days, in the 90's. The weekenders here in the resort spent a lot of time in the water out at the sandbar, drinking beer and other alcoholic beverages of their choice.

Today the high is supposed to be in the 60's. Some of us "fulltimers" are planning to go to dinner at a Mexican restaurant tonight.

    Happy Tuesday to all.

Long hot day but I feel good now that I got my first meal of the day. I don't eat much when I work because it weights me down and make it difficult to work. So, I'm pretty hungry by the time I get home. With all the heat no one wanted to cook so Kate ( daughter ) got us a Subway and I really enjoyed it. Stuffed now. Hope you all had a really good day.

LW - Medicare paid for an Echo every 6 weeks (so every other infusion) not only during the AC, but during the TCHP and the Herceptin the rest of the year. My MO thought it was important so wrote the orders. I feel sure that MDA would be monitoring closely & covered by insurance.

Are you doing four AC? Which one is this? Good luck w/your Echo.

Hey -2. I had an echo before starting chemo, and will have another one tomorrow. I saw my MO today and he didn't want me to have the AC I was scheduled for today, but to wait until he gets the echo results. If the echo is OK I'll have AC #3 on Thursday. Yes, I'm having 4 AC infusions. Also, he is reducing the AC dosage so I hope that will help with SEs.

I haven't had any insurance issues with any scans or tests so I assume that MDA verifies coverage before ordering them. (I have a very good Medicare Advantage plan, thankfully.)

Good morning, Ladies. It is windy with rain. Elsa hasn't gotten here, but was downgraded back to Tropical Storm status. It is going to be a nasty day. I think I will just read a book.

You have choice. You can select joy over despair. You can select happiness over tears. You can select action over apathy. You can select growth over stagnation. You can select you. And you can select life. And it's time that people tell you you're not at the mercy of forces greater than yourself. You, indeed, are the greatest force for you. Now, you can't do it for me, but you can do it for you. -Leo Buscaglia

Lw, it sounds like your fine with Ins. and The changes in dosage should be a big help as well. I never found my A/C treatments very easy but only had four and struggled through. Glad I did, but I admit the last three made me want to quit chemo. Taxotere was somewhat easier but not much. I'm here though and I wish the same for you.

Petite, I'm sorry that you are going to have to undergo the storm, even though downgraded. You are right. It is a big life interruption because you still have to worry about a number of things that could go wrong. We will be not and steamy today, but at least it is a day off for me and I welcome that. Lots to do and hope I make some progress.

Micki and I somehow missed our hair appt. on the 14th. of June. Only figured that out over this past week-end. Going to make July a bit busy starting next week. WE have a birthday, plus visit to Marion for my foot car, plus hair just a few days after. Hope your having a good day Carole.

Thanks for the encouragement, Illinois Lady. I had the echo this afternoon and apparently my heart is fine... but still have that annoying rapid heartbeat. My ejection fraction hasn't shown much change since February and all the chemo treatments so I guess that's a good thing. So I'll have AC #3 tomorrow.

Petite1--so glad to hear that the storm passed you by and that your family is safe.

LW, good news on your echo. Hope your treatment progresses well.

We are enjoying some cooler weather after the blazing heat of the 4th holiday. Yesterday the high was in the 60's and today is supposed to be moderate, too.

Glad the tropical storm didn't cause too much havoc in FL. The western US could sure use some of that rain.

Good morning. Another rainy day. My day started with the closet system in the office, spare bedroom, falling down. Unfortunately, 11 years of business records were on the top 2 layers and my collection of tiny crystal animals were on the bottom. I had the first Swarovski figurine from 1976, a little mouse. It is among the missing. I have found a bunny with 1 ear, a bird head missing a body, most seem intact, but I will be working on this project all day. I think sometime in the past someone posted how much they disliked the plastic covered wire closet systems and I am in agreement. I needed to purge some of this stuff anyway.

Oh petite, I hate hearing what happened in your closet. I will say sometimes it takes something drastic ( gets our attention immediately ) for us to make changes of some sort. Well, at least you can do that, but it sure would have been much nicer if you had done it because you just wanted too. Hope it goes well for you.

I car relate to un-expected. First my struts etc. got so bad very quickly but we did know they needed replacing. Then on the worst humid day of the yr. so far ( yesterday ) we had to deal with my car a/c which I presume wouldn't work because it had too much Freon. Why the humidness and heat together caused it to flare like that , well who knows. Then today wi-fi took a dive. I pleaded we are old and the t.v. ( we do the streaming services thru Hulu now ) and computer Internet is all we have here so we need someone fast asap. They said they'd be out in three hours. It was a mite longer but they did show up. I am truly grateful.

So , petite -- I finally pulled the t.v. out and cleaned under the 3,000 wires on the floor behind it and the two movie towers beside it. We, I guess, really do need something to goad us into doing things. I'll be the first to say my "goaded" project was I know a lot easier that yours.

The weather out is somewhat nicer today, but tomorrow will likely not be great. It will though I think, stir up some rain for the week-end which usually cools us down some. Also, we have had such heat etc. that we are starting to actually need some rain.

Hope everyone had a good day with nothing much "goading" you.

Yesterday Chicago was in the 90s. Today, we didn't make it out of the 60s. (At least we're saving money on our electric bill by not having to run the A/C). Went out yesterday to pick my one ripe tomato, and found it had blossom-end rot--black spot on the bottom, and was black all the way through the core. Yuck. (Couldn't even toss it into the compost lest the fungus contaminate the soil-in-progress). So I'm still buying grocery-store tomatoes.

Pfizer is applying to the FDA for an EUA for a third shot to be given as a booster 6-12 months after shot #2, and is also working on a Delta-specific version. I had Moderna, but I will gladly take Pfizer as #3 when Sept. rolls around. A third shot increases antibodies tenfold!

IL is like a "tale of two states:" southern IL has only a 42% fully-vax rate and a COVID test positivity of 4.6%; the "metro-East" area (counties bordering St. Louis & its suburbs & IL exurbs) has only a 41% vax rate and a test positivity of 5.7%. OTOH, suburban Cook & Chicago have well over half the population fully-vaxed (and nearly 80% of seniors), with a test positivity of 0.9%. So I'm not going down to Sparta to record any time soon. In the Chicago area, masks are optional for the fully-vaxed in most indoor business settings, but still required on transit. I keep one in my purse at all times just in case. I can't tell who is lying about being vaccinated. So when in doubt, I don it.

Petite, sorry about the damage to your tiny treasures.

The mixed messages news reports about the effectiveness or lack of effectiveness of vaccines will only increase the confusion and skepticism. I will continue to rely on the CDC advice.

Today is laundry day and carpet cleaning day. Next door neighbor Mary is lending us her carpet cleaner and dh will be in charge of that operation. I will be in charge of laundry, as I always am. The laundry room with one washer and one dryer is a short walk and I have my "system." Walking back and forth is exercise. I do miss having my own laundry room and also my dish washer during the summer.

The hot days we've experienced this summer make me appreciate the nice days we're having this week.

Good morning, ladies. The shelving is back up in the closet. Business records over 7 years old are gone. Some of my crystal figurines are listed in my Ebay store. I found a box of slips, full and half. I can't remember when I last worn a slip. I think they are too old to donate, so that is going in the trash. There are wires - internet, ethernet, and cable, that I think I donate or throw away. There are 2 old lap tops. I don't know what to do with them. Also some routers, answering machines, and other computer parts. No wonder it fell down.

For those of you in Elsa's way, stay dry and stay safe.

Wow !! You did some great cleaning of that closet petite. The only thing I know about 'old' computers ( our local recycle center will take that sort of thing ) is to take out the hard drive and smash it. I presume, if there is nothing else you can do, you could after doing a total disable of hard drive, throw all into the trash. We also have all sorts of 'wires' that are old that were used to hook up electronics all out of date by a lot. Maybe I'll ask Google.

Nothing special today. It won't he too bad, but we are awaiting the possibility of storms which likely will show up toward nightfall or after. Will be nice to go everywhere during the day not in the rain. After all the heat though, we are a mite dry so actually some rain ( if we don't get the super storm kind ) will be appreciated.

Dh used my push gas mower yesterday and turned it off to move it to the second side of the sidewalk and it wouldn't start. Hmmm, another thing to work on. Seems like everything wants to take a dive at almost the same time. Well, it is a good mower so we will make sure it gets repaired. A Husqvarna we got a great sale on when our Sears outlet store ( where Dh worked ) closed for good. I also got a Shark vacuum at the same time.

Hope you all have a good day.

Old electronics such as laptops and tablets and cell phones should not go in the trash but to an electronics recycler. They contain precious metals which can be recovered. Clearing the hard drive is a good idea to protect your identity. One may need to do a bit of investigation as to where such recycling can occur. Our county has a recycling center that will take electronics. Think I have heard that stores such as Best Buy also will do so, but am not certain. Always interesting what we find when clearing out....

I suggest you call your city's waste management department about the electronics. I know they aren't supposed to go in the regular trash.

Our AC is being tempermental again. Ken's solution is to fill out the form to get info tor the nearby independent complex.

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow. -Melody Beattie

Our drive home from Frederick wasn't too bad until I-88 in NY. The rain storms I drove through were horrific. Pitch black skies with such heavy downpours I couldn't see out but just in front of me.

The good thing about daily rain is we have new grass! Partner had put out a lot of grass seed awhile back but didn't water it. Return from NC it was a surprise to see all the bright green grass under the pines. I've put more seed down as we're expecting another 5 days of rain. UGH!

It has rained everyday since, until today. We enjoyed a beautiful clear day, high of 82. I mowed the lawn, set up the screen house again - I had put away the tv while we were gone, hung 2 new hooks on the deck to hold the pool vacuum and hose, then got in the pool.

Sunday they say a storm should hit in the PM. So my plan is to get out as soon as I'm functioning. I need to use hedge trimmers to get bushes trimmed back, some are hitting my car as I pull in the driveway. Also "crap" trees are growing up in between some plantings in the corner of the yard. Chop chop to get rid of them! I need to power wash the garage door, the vinyl fence, and lattice fence I use to hide garbage cans. But I won't! This rain is too much. I've drained 2+ inches of water from my pool twice.

Enjoy your Sunday! Around here I won't see good weather again until Thursday.

We had a day of here as well. Wasn't so bad till after 2:45 though. It got windy and dark and we knew the rain would soon start. It absolutely poured when it did. Right before during the high wind though a branch came down ( surprisingly small ) and hit my small glass table outside on the promontory of the deck. Totally shattered. The promontory has 12 x 12 pavers on it -- so there is glass in-between. If I can do anything else I may have to retake up the pavers to get all the glass out.

Couldn't find a pan I needed so I emptied my pan cupboard looking for it and found to my amazement a medium glass lid that had shattered. Must have been my day for glass that shatters !!! I started a major re-arrangement of the cupboard which I will have to finish tomorrow. So the yard has lots of pick-up to do and if it is dry enough we will have to do some tomorrow.

All seems well at the moment but this isn't our last wet day either I don't think. So far it has been an odd spring and summer. I hope things get a bit better, but hard to predict. Right around this time if when the hot weather use to start creeping in -- but we have been having spells of it since June -- so maybe a long hot summer, when it isn't being a long hot WET summer.

We can learn to trust ourselves by inquiring within. To practice doing this, sit quietly, close your eyes, and for a minute focus your attention on your breathing. Gently visualize your inner wisdom as a graceful butterfly. Admire her beauty, and encourage your butterfly to sit on your shoulder and whisper her wisdom in your ear. Be still and listen. -Sue Patton Thoele

We take our old laptops and computers to Best Buy. You're not supposed to put such items in the garbage.

Early this morning when I was still in bed, I thought today was Monday. I was so happy to realize it's Sunday! I can read my online newspapers and watch Sunday talk shows or the parts I want to watch. I have them set up to record. I like the panel discussions on current events.

    Happy Sunday to all.

Well, we had a 50 % chance of rain today and it is pouring as I type. We will have shall we say un-positive weather the whole week so it is not going to be fun. Bill ( our big Lab ) is sticking with whomever will let him move in tandem with them. I feel so bad for him with his panting and overall upset. Maybe after today we won't get so much thunder with the storms.

Daughter Kate is not liking the storms. She doesn't mind the rain, but having lived in California most of her life she adjusted much more to earthquakes as we all did when we lived there. A customer came in the store last night and talked about the possible tornado coming ( it never showed up which is more in line with how it normally happens ) and she was nervous the rest of her shift. Even stalled coming home for a short while. When the thunder started this morning she got nervous again.

I have nothing planned today other than finishing up the pan cupboards ( I have two ) and getting that settled. My SIL is on the way here. Now seems like some of the major work that I needed some help with will soon begin. Dh cannot haul and tote as he once could with his back. So, I have kept up here while doing more minor amts. but now some of the real work will take place. I hope he isn't having to drive through a lot of storms anywhere. He is driving away from a lot of heat, but while cooler here there will be the humidity to have to contend with. It is always something.

I have my old computer ( minus hard drive ) in my car ready for drop off out at the recycle center. Sort of waiting for Ron to get here should there be some other items that might need to go along. I guess we are all waiting for him for many things as he needs to figure out what he might be able to use of those items the rest of us are willing to part with. He, ( I think ) will be happy we have the HULU streaming service. My daughter Kate really loves it. I chose it because it carried a lot of the things we normally in times past love to watch. They do in addition have older tv programs and great free ( to subscriber of the service ) movies in all categories which is something that did happen with our regular Spectrum tv acct., but you did not have categories to choose from and just had to hope something was on you might like.

I hope you all have a good day and decent weather.

Please send you rain our way. I think we've gone 22 days with no measurable rain. None in sight, either. We had a great snow pack until the intense heat which melted enough that we're behind on snow pack. Not good; that's our summer water.

Karen, you might want to look around. There are people who collect "antique" computers. Maybe your local repair shop can do some research for you.
