Tuesday; Lunar Eclipse Day (it was cloudy here); Tax Day...Checking in after 3-4 days off ... just wanted to thank everyone for the supportive words and also for sharing about families. After i posted all that "stuff" I was going to delete but never got back to it.
I don't sit around waiting for my kids to call or visit...but when I know there are serious issues I just want to hear that all is OK. I am very busy...
DH and I had a fun day on Sunday...we did a shopping trip (he never gets anything) and gave ourselves 2.5 hours. We got shoes in the same store...his planned, mine not planned...I went into a store while he made friends with a guy on a bench also waiting for wife...I found dresses that actually fit...still have the tags on while I decide if I want to show my pale legs or not...then to Home Depot so he could "show me" a ride-on mower...he bought it...Nothing like retail therapy to take my mind off "stuff".
I enjoyed reading through some of the long posts...Glad to see Lost is back...love hearing about travels and family...Chevy, when I read about your grandsons moving away, I could feel the pain since I just went through it...so glad you had all those years with them.
I have more to read...Carole, I hope your shakedown camping trip went well and is just the first of many adventures!
Sandy, glad you had a great time at the shore...did you get any updates from the docs on the breathing issues?

Gorgeous morning here -- yay, no snow though a minor little bit was a possibility. Just this morning Dh pulled the fourth ( and it was so tiny ) tick off of me. I think we are going to have a bumper year and I can only think double drat.
I and everyone I know felt the harsh winter we had would have dealt the ticks a severe blow.....hmmm, I think it energized them some way. As well, I'm told by a nurse friend that we are going to have big time pollen issues too.
Wow !!! maybe I'll just go to bed, pull up the covers and hibernate for a couple more months. I do have some allergy type meds ( two bottles ) and I have purposely waited to start it.....was hoping I would not need more than two as I really dislike having to "take" pills to keep me going. Well, I just didn't intend to start until the pollen was highly visible -- as in overnight gaining a green layer of pollen all across the glass table top. Grrrr.
Otherwise...we do have sun which will help warm us to the 50's ( oh, there is a God ) and if the breeze stays fairly calm......then maybe we won't notice the dampness so much. Just hoping here.
I will work today and into tonight until about 11 p.m. Don't mind.....I do the majority of work here at home long before I leave for work anyway. It will make for a long period but I will take a good book and be just fine. I will have ( after Sally goes to bed ) the two little Yorkies for company.
Hope you will all have a really pleasant day. As much sun present as possible.....we all need what makes us bloom.
Saying hi to every one and best wishes to Jess on the birth of baby Alice....a great-great grand-daughter. I read somewhere that babies were God's statement that the world should go on...........and I think that means she is doubly welcome. How special.
Had to run out to the hearing center.....one hearing aid was not working. Seems somehow a hole developed in the little plastic cone that goes into my hear. At no charge ( I don't normally go there ) the hearing specialist put on a new one and replaced the plastic line connected to it to. What a fantastic way to start your day...........someone being kind and giving you back your ability to hear. Since I was working a rather long day I was a bit panic stricken. There are such good people in this world. After coming here and spending so much time ( at BC. Org ) I've met so many who I count in that description of just plain good folks. I'm so fortunate. It makes life a true pleasure.
Blessings

Jess, Congratulations on the new addition to the family. I had a great great grandmother when I was young. She was awesome. Wonderful cook and still sewed, although she would get me to thread the needle. I have a photo of the 5 generations on the front porch.

Good afternoon, all you globetrotting ladies and you stay at homers! It's a gorgeous WINDY day here. Gorgeous as in looking out the window. I've been inside doing some housework in preparation for dh's nephew's arrival from Seattle tomorrow.
I had been loading up the guest room with "stuff" during my repainting of the living room recently. So I had to move a lot of the "stuff" into the office, which is next on the list to be re-painted before it becomes the new guest room.
For you Midwesterners who can grow rhubarb so easily in your back yard, I paid $6.99 a lb for a bundle of rhubarb yesterday. It's seldom that I even see it in a supermarket around here. The checkout girl didn't know what it was. I've looked up a recipe for making a jam. DH loves rhubarb. We often buy rhubarb jam at farmers' markets up in the Midwest.
Our main motivation for our summer travel is to escape the three h's. Hurricanes, heat, humidity. If our weather was comfortable during the summer, I would be happy to stay at home. The expense is always a factor. Now, if I won a lottery and had mucho $$$, I would probably do some foreign travel. To France, England, and Italy.
Hope everyone is enjoying today.

Jess, Congrats
Chevy, yest it is Road Scholars, we had a bus load come in a couple of weeks ago to watch DH make
a broom, had a good time.
Carol, I grew up in Iowa, I used to make a rhubarb jam. You cut up the rhubarb and put so much sugar in it and let it set over night to make its juice, then you added a package of strawberry jello. Brought it to a boil untill it was thick, let it cool and filled your jars. It was very tasty.
Today has been a better day. Ins. Co sent another adjuster to look at truck and he agrees that they did a bad job on the frame and said it will need to be taken to a reputible dealer. Guess something will get done sooner or later. They did rent DH a vehicle yesterday, the adjuster said today that he would see that he gets to keep it until they get the mess straightened out.
Have a good rest of the day

Mommarch.... do you add any water to that? And how much sugar..... Just "a lot?" I know it takes a lot! My Mom used to make Pineapple Rhubarb pie.... and it was soooooo good! I love easy recipe's.... and with yours, you could spoon it over Angel Food Cake, or even on waffles or pancakes!
Jackie! I didn't recognize your new Avatar...Ha! I'll see what I can find out about wood-ticks!

Congrats Jess on your new family addition!
I have been enjoying all the travel plans! We are going to Oxford, Mississippi for Easter to my son's house. This will be our last trip there as my son got a promotion and they are moving to Greeneville, Tennessee in May. It is time for my "grandma fix." I always get so excited when I'm going to get to see them. I have the Easter Baskets stuffed and have another pile of things to take them. I hope the weather is good.
Jackie, I think that some of the pollen issues have already surfaced here. My allergies have already been bothering me.
Joan...That shopping trip sounds like fun! I LOVE to shop but I usually don't buy very much for myself. I always find things for everyone else so it's so much fun when I go on a "me" spree and find just the things that I have been searching for! (or needing)
Hey Chevy...we love to fish. What type of fish did you catch up in the mountains? That's one place we've never put out a pole or line.
Well, I have a pot of chili simmering on the stove for dinner tonight. It's been sunny here today but it's still cold! Yesterday my friend Mary Jane and I went to the Moline (Quad City) area shopping and they got sleet and snow. UGH! So much for the global warming.
Hope everyone is having a good day!

Rhubarb also grows well here in Oregon....or at least it did when I was growing up. My mom grew it in our backyard and every year I helped make jam. I do remember lots of sugar and pouring in the jello.......best jam in the world!
The way things have been going today I wonder if the "blood full moon" that occurred last night has put a hex on us. My DH phone suddenly died this morning about the same time as one of our three shower heads sprung a huge leak then an hour later DH was going to take his phone into the Verizon store and he couldn't get his car out of park......had to have it towed to Aamco! This was all before noon!! It is now 4:15 and the phone is fixed, DH repaired the leak and we just got a call from the mechanic saying that a plastic part in the park gear had broken and will be fixed by tomorrow to the tune of $220. DH decided not to tempt fate anymore today and is taking a nap, lol.
Like all of you, I love being a gramma! I had four sons and always assumed that following college they would marry and move far away. However, we were surprised and very, very happy that they all found jobs in their chosen careers locally.....the youngest living the farthest away at 80 miles. We have four DILs we love like daughters (and they are close friends) and seven grandchildren who are very close to us and each other. Now if all of this sounds too sugary sweet for words, trust me we have also had our share of heartache involving our guys. First, of course, was the 10 month illness and loss of our oldest son who was 30 yrs old, had been married 6 yrs with a 2 yr old son. The other was the bitter divorce after 5yrs of marriage involving our youngest. Luckily they had no children and he has since remarried and has produced our 2 youngest grandchildren. Although I'm happy I wasn't going through BC during these times, I wish I would have had the support of you ladies back then.....you're all great!!
Guess I better start dinner.......Swedish meatballs , mashed potatoes, broccoli and tossed salad. Have a relaxing evening everyone.

Good evening,
Been a cold rainy day here, supposed to get the snow/sleet tonight , after being almost 80 yesterday.
Rita , we are of the same mind. I made chili for dinner tonight too!
We are enjoying traveling a lot too, now that we are both retired. Tours, cruises and B&B's are fun. I'm our travel agent and have to plan around DH's back problems and my IBS, make planning a challenge. My favorite trip is on the Queen of the Mississippi paddle wheeler. SHe is the most authentic of
the 2 that run the Mississippi. We enjoy the people, just sitting on the swings or rocking chairs and watching the river go by. Have done both the upper and lower Miss. Will go again this year!
I enjoy rhubarb too, when we had a garden I grew it, but no one except my mother-in-law liked it too.
Yup, allergies have started here too. Back on my allergy pills. When it rained yesterday the windshield had a coating of pollen , when it stopped.
Chevy, there is another kitty site I go to also, think it's my cat. Funny cats is a good one.
Sandra, loved that cartoon!
Take care, Jean

NorthWest Ladies (in forum Get Togethers)
Congrats Jess on a Great x2 grand baby
My eyes & nose are reacting to the pollen...blooming maples, and flowering trees all around.
We had a lot of rhubarb growing in the yard in our first house, they were gigantic!!!....long long ago.....I would pull all those gigantic leaves off the plant and and darn if they didn't come back....husband said they are not weeds they are rhubarb and he loves anything rhubarb!
Chevy....love your kitties and ducklings video!
Hugs,
Di
HAD my implants installed a year ago....how time flies when I'm having fun

Jess...congratulations on your new great, great granddaughter, I love her name!
Sandra, Di and Wren....being on the same cruise should be a lot of fun ...Enjoy your trip and meeting each other.
Ritajean... enjoy your Easter trip and your time spent with your grandchildren
I had my 6 month appt with my Onc Dr. today ...so far everything is okay and had bone density test done also. That came out okay so far also. Relief!!!!
We have 4 sons and 3 are married with children. Most of the time everyone gets along but 2 sons have crazy hours at work and makes holiday get togethers rather difficult and causes other family members a little upset which causes problems sometimes. Usually it all works out in the end but upsetting when they blow off steam.
Sandra...great picture!
Hope everyone has a great week!

Congrats Jess on a beautiful addition to u'r family.
Oh I'll never have any more GC so I just thoroughly enjoy my one, as u know.
Oh my DD2 and GS love rhubarb pie, it's ok, but when I was growing u we had loads of rhubarb in our yard and we used to just eat it, Blah now of course.
And Chevy u should know those neasurements by now---a pinch of this, a lot of that , a smidgeon of this. Those are old time measurements u silly.
I'm sorry I'm so tired today I'm not all together oops get my finger back, told u I wasn't all together.

Judy, count me in. I think it has to be painful in the extreme to lose a child -- no matter what age they are. Of course, we are only onlookers but I have seen that most people, in time, are able to not be crippled by a loss such as yours. Still, I can't see myself able to manage......I guess you just have to be there and be so to speak forced into it.
Actually we are all forced into a lot of things we don't want, but that one seems so hard. I have said before how amazing you can be when you have absolutely no choice. I'm so sorry that you had to endure this hurt. You have my admiration for sure.
My mom loved rhubarb. I think that is why she bought the house she did when she moved back home here. There was a patch of it out in the middle of the garden. It wasn't a bad house at all mind you, but if she needed a deciding factor, I'm sure that was it. She just loved rhubarb and I ended up liking it too.
Chevy.....yes, yes, yes. Loved the video. I do have to go out tomorrow and get some new speakers for my computer. My old ones ( made it now through three computers ) just gave out a couple of days ago so I did not enjoy any of the sounds that the animals may have been making. I can do a re-play some time tomorrow though.
Termite....whew !!!!! Great to get tests done and find out all is well. Nerve-wracking, but you feel like the firing squad gave up and went home when everything comes out after all.
Getting tired so I'm going to go find my jammies.
See you all in the morning.
Blessings
Jackie

We have rhubarb and love it. DH put it in some pies last year and it was a great addition to both apple and peach. I also love it on it's own, but we only had enough for 1 pie.

Di, I'm thrilled that we are on the same cruise! It will be great to go to Alaska, but even better with friends.
We've never been so I'm sure we'll ask a hundred questions since you're an Alaska alumni. I booked this cruise because of Glacier Bay too. That was priority #1. I also wanted to find one that started and ended in the same city because I found out how much it was going to cost to get to Vancouver from Seattle airport. Quite expensive. We have to penny-pinch now, so finding a Seattle roundtrip cruise was perfect. Our cabin is on deck 14, L249. We have an inside cabin this time, which I always enjoy. They are dark and quiet...perfect for napping! We're out of the cabin most of the time anyway, so we don't need much. We had a balcony the last time on Princess and it was so noisy. Well, the balcony itself wasn't noisy...the neighbors on each side of us were.
Can't wait! I hope they have some good music on board. We can't dance like we used to when we were teaching ballroom dance before my stroke last year, but still like to shuffle around the floor. As long as I hang onto Mike and he doesn't spin me, we're ok. We found an affordable flight too so everything fell into place. There is some kind of big convention in town the week before the cruise so downtown hotel rooms were hard to come by. My husband kept looking and finally found one, Hotel FIVE. (When we travel it's his job to find the hotel. I don't get to have any input but he always finds great ones, so I'm sure this one will be too.) It's going to make sightseeing so much easier since we're walking distance to almost everything downtown.
Thank you so much for your offer to pick us up at the airport. YES, YES, YES. That would be fantastic! We will definitely owe you and your husband a drink or two when we get on the ship. We've been looking into transportation for the last two days. It's $55 for most of the companies. Around San Antonio the hotels all have shuttles to take guests back and forth, but apparently Seattle downtown hotels don't have that. There were some that offered it but they were by the airport and we didn't want to have to deal with paying so much everyday when we wanted to do sightseeing downtown.
This is going to be fun! Can't wait to meet you!

Chevy, the cat, kittens and baby ducks were darling. I especially enjoyed it when they kept jumping out of the box and the cat kept putting them back. So cute!
