Good quote, Jackie.  A lot of truth in the advice to be good to ourselves so we have more to give to others.

    Glad you're lurking, Blondie.

Hello to everyone.  Hope you're keeping warm.

Good Morning, I have ketchup to do but I'm doing it page by page.

Sandra this sounds so promising for Mike, I realize they have to give odds but when u think o it it couldn't be better---(((PRAYERS)))

Anne u do have a lot of places to go, but the best is when u'r with as much of the family that u can be with.

Mommom what a nice vacation u had, it's so nice to get away, and nice to come home too.

Mommarch what can I say, accident , fire al at the same time and now u have it figured out--good thing
Oh when I would have my car and it didn't work, that would upset me so badly,.but u and u'r DH are pretty good about all this confusion.

Jackie u have the best attitude--it's like there is always sunshine behind each cloud. But u actually live it, it must be so peaceful in u'r mind is u'r DH like u? It's wonderful.

Rita u'r stil in FL right, u another one who confuses me all the time. U sound good tho.

Carole just drive that car the way it is. That sounds like an awful lot of money, but it always is. When I had my car (it was old) I bought those huge magnetics bandaids and just put them where the car was not feeling well.

Teacher I'm so sorr about Penny--we know hos our furbabies affect our lives and we love them so.

Blondie it's so nice to see u post, but u sound like u'r ready to come home--how can anyone take things from anyone who's recuperating and really can't keep u'r eyes on anything. That's crap--Just hope u'r doing better--(((HUGS)))

Welcome Diane, I'm sorry u'r here--no one wants this but these are wonderful women here and u have tons of support. I can't really add to anything cuz everyone gave u great advice--so I'm wishing  u well and come back and if u want to  share with us and maybe we can make things more comfortable for u.

Sandra I'm so glad u have someone who helps u along the way and praying all goes well.

OK I think I've accomplished what I set out to do---ketching up---

Carole I forgot u live by Mardi Gras--always seems so exciting and so many people showing their boobs for necklaces, like that. It's such a big deal there, where other places have nothing to celebrate. All we have is a few different bakery items to celebrate with--u'rs is so much better.

Termite u have to be in this cold for sure--it's below 0 with of course wind chill - 30--that's way to recockulous, just a few minutes outside and u can get frostbite in a second and 1/2 or 2 seconds-whatever, so everyone stay warm who's in this, or stay dry if u'r in the other area where there is all snow.

Oh WOW Cammi! You came back! You little Dickens! You say you finally caught up? How far back do I have to go to see where you left off? I forgot all that you even answered!

And she wrote 3 in a snap! I mean 3 posts right in succession! It's a wonder they let her do that. I think the reason they do, is because they are so relieved she found her way BACK, that they won't reprimand her this time! There should be a time limit.... Once you forget to post on a thread like for maybe a week, you lose your privileges... like in school! You lose your recess time, when you are bad, or write dirty words for all the other kids... like Cammi probably did. And like I did...... ONCE.

That was funny!!!! About the magnetic band-aid! Is that a true story???? I suppose you mean like THIS?

image Did you really DO that? By the way that picture looks like my CAR! I'm waiting for warm weather, so I can re-touch a spot on the lower right quarter-panel, where I acciddntly skinned the paint, on that DAMN METAL SHREDDER DH HAD RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY LITTLE CAR RIGHT QUARTER PANEL, and it scraped it! But I will fix it... and do it right... just as soon as the weather warms up like above 70.... which would be probably around JUNE!

So anyway.... We are going to get another snow-storm tomorrow night... into Saturday and Sunday... maybe about another foot... I am so sick about all these "1 to 2" turning into 8 to 12" that I could scream! Okay... I know, I know.... we need the water!

I met my old school chum yesterday at Olive Garden... We have stayed in touch since we went to grade-school together... We always order the great hot soup, with salad.... Only This time we got that appetizer 3 million cheese thing, baked and melted, and served with toasty little bread things... SOOOOOOOOOoooooo good! But I only had one bowl of soup... Hah!

So fun to catch up since we last saw each other!

See, I'm trying to say it all, and get it all in now, because Cammi is probably somewhere near, and she just MIGHT see this one too!

LOL!  LOVE the bandaid for the car!  Only Cammi would come up with that cure.

Chevy, your get-together with your old friend sounds like great fun.  I can just imagine how much you two laughed and carried on.

I'm off to my PCP this morning.  She's going to be disappointed with my weight gain of about 5 lbs since the apptment last year.  I'm hoping to get a good recommendation for a foot dr. She'll also order blood work, which is the best indicator of what's going on with my general health.

    Happy Thursday to every.

I live to experience something new each day -
    to learn something new,
    meet a new friend,
    bring joy into someone's life,
feel the wind newly on my skin,
touch a new fear, a new anger,
and with focused intent and good fortune,
find an ample measure of my own joy.

The sunrise this morning was so beautiful.

    I guess I'm mostly a lurker, too.

I loved hopscotch, bike rides, roller skating and board games.

Lots of Louisiana transplants here means lots of hoopla about Mardi Gras. I don't get into it though. My DH did come home with beads Tuesday because he said they were in piles all around the office. That was it for us.

Last week I got through a colonoscopy successfully and had a cardio visit yesterday. It was supposed to just be a pacemaker check but because of episodes of tachycardia, my doc brought up ablation again. I just don't want to do it but will if the episodes become more frequent. He said they aren't life threatening so I don't want to think of surgery. I'd like for my DH's time off to be for relaxing instead of hauling me to and fro to see docs like last year

I've been surprised that in spite of the cold that weeds are flourishing and there was a mosquito in my car! My daffodils are peeking up but not blooming yet. It's supposed to be in the 70s this weekend, so I think I will vent some frustration on weeds. I'm ready to play in the dirt and have color outside.

Morning gals! I found this video years ago, and I kept it with my "favorites".... There is another one, about why they hold hands, and wrap their babies in sea-weed.

They keep talking about Denver getting up to 16 inches of snow starting tonight! I am a little weary, to say the least, about all these Winter storms ganging up on us, but at least it isn't like further East, with those bone chilling freezing temps, and the mountains of snow! We at least get some days of 60 degree weather in between!

You are goodness and mercy and compassion and understanding.  You are peace and joy and light.  You are forgiveness and patience, strength and courage, a helper in time of need, a comforter in time of sorrow, a healer in time of injury, a reacher in time of confusion.

You are the deepest wisdom and the highest truth;  the greatest peace and the grandest love.  You are these things, and in moments of your life, you have known yourself as these things.

Choose now to know yourself as these things always.

The kitty in the avatar is just a picture I really liked.  I've had several orange and white cats and to date they all have had a truly wonderful personality.  I've only one left at present and he is a big wonderful, loving guy.  Most of my cats are pretty good overall but I have a couple who really get into "teasing" behaviors and that is wearing now and then.

The ones who are teased ( I'm convinced anyway ) are the ones who will yell and squall.  The teasers think this is great sport.  No one really huts anyone, but the racket they make is horrible.

I have one cat who is a really pretty mild gray color.  You can see a really faint set of tiger stripes if you are looking really good but for all purposes -- Alfie is gray.  I'm convinced he is one of the few I've had that left his mother ( whatever reason ) too soon as he thinks it is just fine now and then to chomp on you --- even when you are petting him and he is purring and really enjoying it.  He just will open his mouth and chomp down on you.  Nothing I've done as worked totally.  He is better but still 'forgets' too often to make me happy.  He is one of the big teasers too.  The only thing that works is if I yell Alfie at the top of my lungs.

Our weather, with a few more inches of snow, is rotten as well.  Not going to get too warm today.  The sun comes out for a bit then hides again.  Un-fortunately, our furnace decided some time during the night that it no longer wished to produce heat.  We have a call in but are still waiting for the guy who said he'd come.   Not everyone around here works on heat units that sit out doors.  Regular company is three days behind and putting in a new furnace for someone today.  So, we are having to try someone new.  Our fingers are crossed.  Hoping for something simple -- we will just have to see.  Some of our water pipes are not doing well either.  Frozen till the furnace is fixed and heating the bottom part of our house again.  We have never needed heat tapes or anything -- hmmm, may have to re-think that one too.

I so feel for you Teacher and Bonnets.  I've had the tachycardia ( just for very brief moments due to meds, etc. and it is quite a distressing -- almost panicky sensation.  I can't imagine having to deal with it were it rather consistent and persistent.  I sure hope a good fix can be found.  As it is both of you -- maybe it is possible that the same solution could work for each of you.  Just fingers crossed a could answer comes really soon.

Hope you are all going to have a really good day.

    Blessings

    Jackie

    Teacher,

Called my primary cardio and he switched me back to 200 of Toprol in the evening, my old dose. Had the tachy but not as often as the Cardizem. Will see how it goes til I see the other cardiologist. Have a stress on Monday. Jean

Jackie, The orange boys are always sweet. Ours was awesome. Our vet, who had one, said orange tabby males use most of their genes to be that color and gender, so they do have similar personalities. For the biter, try making hurt kitten noises. Sometimes that works. We just adopted our foster cat. He's black and FIV+. Has a lot of dog characteristics.

Bonnets, Good luck on the stress test. I've had a few episodes of tachycardia and they're scary. Hope they can find a way to make them stop.

Just googled tachycardia.  Sounds scary.  Hoping you both get relief, Teacher and Bonnets.

We were supposed to have a nicer day today than it has turned out to be.  It's very windy and feels colder than the 60 degree temperature.  Plus it's overcast and we have the chance for some scattered showers.  I was foolish enough to go out and try to play golf.  Couldn't even keep a visor on with the gusty wind.  It feels good to be back home and warm.

DH and I are going out to dinner with another couple.  I'm looking forward to having a nice meal that I don't have to cook.

Carole, love your avatar picture.  Really cool to see you both there.

Wren, I'm going to try working with Alfie with your suggestion.  Other than loving to antagonize a couple of the other cats into screeching and hissing and getting really upset he is an other wise sweet guy except for that infernal biting.  No one likes a cat to nip them for no good reason.  He does not bite hard, but it is still off putting and usually cancels some of the extra loving attention he could receive.

I also had no idea about the orange and white kits.  Wow !!!  It is true that everyone ( all rescued ) I've had has been so personable and loving.  Just great characters who seem to have a magnificent outlook on things and stay pleasant in all situations.  I've had two orange and white and one all orange pass away -- only have one orange and white left.  I don't think I'll ever be interested in securing any more ( I still have so many here ) but if someday I thought about that possibility.....I think I'd be looking for an orange and white again.

Bonnets -- glad you are going to resume your former medication for now and still hoping that a good answer comes up for you along with Teacher as well.

We are back in business with our furnace.  It was in fact, something fairly simple -- thank goodness.  Still, it takes a person who knows how to work on outside units as even though Dh knew that it 'should' work, it obviously wasn't going to without the repairmen.   It wasn't long after the furnace came on that water started pouring out of the frozen pipes and all that is as it should be as well.  I feel fortunate on the price as well.  Since no "parts" were needed, the bill was only $65.00.  I had visions  -- none of them too good as most of the money I had was ear-marked for other things.  So, we will be ok for sure.

All's well that ends well.  I will enjoy sitting in the living room later on.  The house feels awful when no warm air circulates anywhere -- but once heat has once again touched everything -- you just feel good all over -- and I do.

    Jackie

We had two male cats who were brothers.  One looked just like the one in Jackie's avatar when he was a kitten.  His brother was white with black spots here and there.  They were both very large, sweet-natured cats and they loved each other.  It was nice to see how they slept snuggled together.  They died of different incurable diseases about 4 months apart when they were about 13 years old.  We had to have each of them put of his misery.  DH named them Pat and Mike.  Our reason for getting two kittens was that they could keep each other company.  And they did.

Jackie, I'm glad your furnace is repaired.

    Hello to everyone.

bonnets - glad you got some relief. Today I didn't have any episodes and felt pretty good.

We used to have two orange cats, Juice and Scout. Juice wandered in one day and stayed. Scout was a feral cat I brought home from the psych hospital where I taught. He stayed in the garage for two weeks, used the litter box, ate while I was gone and listened to me talk to him every evening. After two weeks he came out and was my cat fore rest of his days. Our boys were great companions for each other. They both lived past 12 and developed kidney problems that we doctored until we couldnt any longer.

I've missed my princess so much the past two weeks and have looked at a few rescue sites for another furry-faced girl. No decisions yet

Blondie, If she didn't have symptoms before, it's probably not cerebellar hypoplasia. That usually shows up when the kitten doesn't learn to walk right. It can be very slight or quite severe. If she walked with her back legs kind of stiff before, she might have a light case and the anesthesia made it temporarily worse. Perhaps the anesthesia is lasting longer than usual. If she's not better tomorrow, maybe take her to a different vet. Just tell them to make sure she doesn't hurt herself while she's wobbly.

    Good morning ladies,

Teacher, I woke up this morning , and was not going to the races! We will see how the rest of the day goes, but it's a good start!

We just had to put our baby kitty Cookie/ BooBoo down last month, We tried to get her well since before Christmas when she stopped having BM's. Tried everything as we loved her dearly. We have had a number of cats over the years, but never an orange one. Booboo as our holstein, and the smartest cat I ever had. Miss her a bunch, but are trying to be kittyless til we stop travel as much. The longest lived was one that lived to 21. SHe broke a leg when she was young and did very well on 3 legs. They each have such different personalities.

Booboo was about 14, adopted from a shelter. We love our kitties , they are definitely part of our families , and we miss them when they go.

People who take the risk make a tremendous discovery:  The more things you care about, and the more intensely you care, the more alive you are. This capacity for caring can illuminate any relationship:  marriage, family, friendships--even the ties of affection that often join humans and animals.  Each of us is born with some of it, but whether we let it expand or diminish is largely up to us.  To care, you have to surrender the armor of indifference.  You have to be willing to act, to make the first move.  -Arthur Gordon

Wren, go thrilled you are watching out for the cat questions.  I sometimes know some of the answers, but not like you do.  I did have as well a couple of cats that had issues after anesthesia --- but the important thing was they got well.  It just was not at all easy to watch them as to me ( and I would definitely always feel that way ) they were suffering when they shouldn't be.

Glad Teacher and bonnets that you are starting your day with some "quiet" symptoms and sure hope it stays that way as much as possible if not completely for the day.

Our ice storm arrived on time last night.  Colder than a witches' tit as they ( always have wondered who "they" were ) say and I know slippery.  Dh is out scraping and putting ice melt down.  I think we have nearly 2 inches out there.   I have to go out and try and get some cat food later.  I use Diamond Active Cat and there is only one place in town that sells it that is reasonable.    That food has always been more expensive than others -- but even at the store where I go they have had to reluctantly  up their chgs.  and it is now almost $20.00 a bag there --- it is going to be a minimum of $5.00 to $8.00 more at the other places that carry it.  Hope they are able to get to work -- I really need the food and hope I don't have to use the higher priced stores today.

I have the sun in my room but not outside.  I don't think we will get any sun today.  We will get some snow flurries later -- and I'm due to go to work at 4:30 this afternoon.  Ick -- but after paying for furnace repairs etc. nice to get a paycheck to recoup the money I never intended to have to spend.  Just glad the repairs were so reasonable.  Really happy about how quickly after the heat came back ( since we just repaired the water heater ) on that the pipes ( hot water ones ) opened back up.  Some of life's curve balls can get super curvy.

Blondie -- I'm sure anxious ( and I know you are too ) for you to graduate your rehab.  I hope it is not much longer.  Sending lots of positive healing energies with the hope that you'll be able to graduate soon.

    Blessings

    Jackie
