Boy, that is some Happy Thanksgiving....so sorry. But, I just know everything will be fine and this will all be just another icky cancer memory. As Deanna said, we are all here for you if there is anything we can do.

Merilee - The situation sucks, big time,  but moving quickly for surgery is a great next step. Lots and lots of positive thoughts that this is just a blip.

Vivre, I'm so sorry to learn of FlaLady's passing. I've been reading her posts for the past two years and I always appreciated her measured responses. I learned a lot from her. Thanks for posting here to let us know.

Merilee, I'm so sorry that you are having to go through more surgery. Hoping all goes well for you!

How about we all stop at noon(central time) on Wednesday and send our thoughts and prayers to Merillee at the same time. One big group hug.

Thanks Vivre for the comments of Flalady. I was shocked to learned she pass away...but I am confident she is in a better place. I didn't know she was that bad...although I knew it was beginning to get worse. WOW! It is such a loss to these threads that she isn't with us anymore. She was dedicated to helping all of us.

I also want to say Vivre that you also are a rock and guiding force to these threads. I appreciate your wisdom and comments. These threads need people who keep us on track, and stand up for us, who chose alternative medicine to prevent a recurrence of breast cancer. Thanks for caring. :) E Barry

Vivre, great idea, I will be stopping at noon and sending thoughts and prayers to our Merilee. Actually had a hard time thinking of anything else today.

That's a great idea... Merilee, I don't know yet what time my lumpectomy is on Wednesday but I will pray for you as I'm getting prepped for mine... what time is yours?

Vivre-Thank you for sharing FlaLady's passing. I knew she wasn't doing well and I wondered about her often. She was an inspiration to all of us. I truly admired her strength and determination. It saddens me deeply that she is gone.

Mine is at 2pm. Thank you I will accept all that positive energy, and will use that thought to keep my mind open to it during my prep and such.

The hardest part is telling people. They always have the most mortified look on thier faces and that is hard to see over and over again.

I am in on Wednesday too! Merilee, there will be a ton of positive energy coming your way. I know what you mean about telling people. That is always so difficult. The only people I really told to begin with are the people that I am closest to.

Julia - we will be sending you positive thoughts on Wednesday as well!

Great idea from Vivre, here. Let's all do it.

Merilee: I know how hard this is. All those positive thoughts are with you.

    Gentle hugs.

Sorry Crunchy that I forgot you were going under too. It is so hard to keep everything straight around here. What time do you start? Maybe we have to do our group prayer hug earlier?

I think I read in Dr. Lee's book that those who timed their surgeries at a certain time, when their progesterone levels were higher had better outcomes. I will try to find that information.

Thanks for the encouragement Barry. As I said, if it was not for the inspiration by FlLady, I would have left long ago. I just feel that as long as we stick around we are keeping her spirit alive. Now if we could get Anom and Rosemary to get their butts back over here. I know they are busy and but we need all the cogs in this wheel.

Thanks, girls... but I'm more concerned about Merilee than I am myself. I'm just having a lumpectomy! (Unless he opens me up and decides to take my whole boob off.) I'm supposed to be at the surgical center at 9:30 for a needle loc, and they told me just to plan on being at the hospital all day (not sure what time the actual surgery yet)... if I'm not under the knife (or loopy from something in my IV) at noon, I am going to be thinking/praying for Merilee, so the noon thing would be fine if you want to send some good thoughts/prayers my way too.

vivre, thanks to a couple of girls here, I found out that the luteal phase (after ovulation when progesterone is high) is the ideal time for surgery, and thankfully, mine happens to be right during my luteal phase... hoping that Merilee and I are on similar cycles!!

    Vivre:

I have now read Whole Foods' John Mackey's article for myself. Yes, that's where I should have started, because Mackey tackles some very valid issues here, and does a good job out of explaining clearly what he really thinks. In fact, the truth is he is not even a reform opponent.

I see what you mean, and indeed, I had been having the same concerns about the reform as I did about the war on Irak, in particular the very high cost of it. Now, I also feel that some kind of reform is needed, but this is such a complicated issue, I am not sure what the right answer is to health care woes in the US.

Anyone know alot about OOPH? I am very concerned about my body using estorgen to build tumors even on DIM. I am having thoughts of having my ovaries ripped out!

Oh Merilee, I don't blame you. What a nightmare. And right before Thanksgiving! Good grief!! We are all sending positive up through the stratosphere.

I am, however, glad you found it and glad that sucker will be OUT of you soon. Good surveillance on your part Marilee.

I'm so far behind in reading these posts, I'm just going to reply to things as I see them on the page that I am reading.

Deni, just curious,  why would  your doctor push estrogen blockers for an ER- tumor?  Did he give a reason?

I went to my Onc yesterday and asked if they could test my Vit D level.  Turned out, they already did this last January, but I never knew.  I asked what the level had been and they told me normal range and that the number was 28.  From everything I've heard, this is a really low number, am I correct?  My Onc said a multivitamin should keep it at a good level.  I wasn't taking one back at the time they tested me.  I asked for another test to see how the level is now.
