    Good morning Ladies,

Althea - Thank you for responding. Wow, I hope that this Acupuncturist is not going to do that to me. It is so hard to find one that is honest and knows what they are doing. It took me 2 months to find this one. I am trying him because he has been in business for 20 years. Althea, have you tried another Acupuncturist?. Thanks again for responding, it has made me more aware of what to look out for. Ya'll are great.

Merilee- I'm glad you are not feeling any major effects from chemo. Keep Strong. Thinking of you and praying for you.

Merilee, I am so glad you feel okay. One day at a time. I remember looking ahead thinking, when that new show airs, I'll be half done, When Thanksgiving is here, I'll be 3 weeks past done, etc. Somehow surviving the day but remembering this is a temporary thing that will indeed be over !!!

Deanna, THAT IS IT!!! I am bringing along my own home filtered water in Sigg containers from now on or buying bottles. THAT IS SO GROSS!!! Blech!!! AFter all we do to be healthy! Sickening! I no longer drink soda's but I have been know to get a cup of water from one of those soda dispensers. BLECH!!!

I know, Spring; I thought it was gross beyond belief.  Like you, I only get water from those drink machines if I happen to end up in a place with one, but the bacteria issue had never occured to me -- at least not to that degree!   And I also thought back to the number of times my DS or his GF end up with mildly upset stomachs -- like when you think maybe food poisoning, but it's not that bad. I wouldn't be surprised if this source of bacteria could be the explanation.

((((Merilee))))  I'm praying that the excellent care you've taken of yourself is really going to pay off and that you'll sail through these txs.

Deanna, how about sending us ALL some heat! Or is it cold there too? I could not even look at that article. There are some things I just want to be ignorant about. I will just take your word for it, that drinking fountains are gross, and bring my own water, which I usually do anyway. I am grossed out enough with the oil pulling. I will report in if it does anything. I have a couple of friends trying it too, so we shall see if it does what others profess.

I have a great venue for the prevention convention. It is a very nice resort, called Pheasant Run in St. Charles, IL with lots of anemities. I can negotiate a better price for rooms if I get some committments. They will give us the conference rooms for free because they believe that what I am doing is going to be great. I have a lot of docs lined up to speak on thermography, nutrition, hormone balance, dental mercury fillings, and my pharmacist will talk about iodine and supplements. You only have to pay for your food and room, and transportation of course. The dates are for the weekend of March 13th. I know that I can get a lot of people to come, but I really hope that I can see as many of you all as possible. You guys can bring your spouses or share rooms to cut down expenses. Anyone who would really like to come, please send me your email and I will get an email chain going. It will be so much fun to meet.

Vivre, that resort looks awesome! I assume this is it? -- http://www.pheasantrun.com/index.htm

Can you give a few more details? What are the time parameters for arrival and departure, and how many nights would we be staying, ideally? For instance, fly in Friday night and have seminars on Sat, fly home Sunday? I have already signed up for a "day retreat" that Saturday, but it was not too costly, so I could potentially opt out.

Anyhow, I will PM you my email as I'd like more details....

Spring, I am thinking of coming in Friday, Friday night we can gather and do some Zumba and Yoga. Seminars on Sat and Sun, and if people can stay, we can go into Chicago on Mon. I met a guy from the culinary institute, and he told me his students would do a lunch. I will give you more details as I get committments.

Yes, that is the resort. Just keep in mind that it is march. Don't get any ideas about golf or swimming outside! LOL But the Fox river is nearby where they have bike rentals and lovely walking paths. Also, some great shops in nearby Geneva and St. Charles.

I found this brilliant doctor researching the health care reform. Not only does he have some really great ideas for that, he also seems to be a guru on fibromyalgia:

    http://fibromyalgia-thecure.blogspot.com/

He mentions that there is a link with low thyroid function and firbromyal. OMG, Here again is a link with thyroid, iodine, and breast cancer! Everytime I turn around, I find another connection. Could this be the major cause of breast cancer-IODINE deficiency?????

Donna and Nettie-are you gals taking iodine?

Vivre, I sent this link before but it bears resending because it's chock full of the connections. It is a must-see for women w/ breast cancer. The fibromyalgia people put it together but there is a huge amount on iodine, breast cancer and the thyroid. The evidence is getting too big to ignore.

    Merilee,

I will be thinking of you  I had the C  and F5U, but  I had epirubicen  as well.   Maybe the difference is because your cancer is lobular instead of ductal, or maybe doctor preference.  I didn't  figure this out until my last 3 treatments when a diffferent doctor  OTHER than my own suggested I take two lorazapam an hour before my treatment.  This was the best thing I have done for two reasons, I didn't throw up through the treatment and two, I slept for the 4 hours it took for the treatment  so   I didn't even remember it.  I know that sounds like a druggy way out but, for two weeks after treatment I would go back in my mind and see images of IV bags etc.  and I would get nauseous all over.  At that point I was happy to do anything to get through it.

    Hang in there!

No. I don't take iodine, Vivre, I posted a reply to you, I think it was on the iodine, thyroid posting,  asking some questions. I'll check there to see if you replied. I would like to start taking this.

Molly, thanks for putting that link up again. I know we have linked to it before, but it is great to have it up front again. It is very informative. Maybe some of you should put it on the other threads you frequent and tell people to read the iodine thread to learn more about it.

Will be doin the IODINE as soon as this one test is done and will measure everything.. one more week and then I can get to where the imbalance is for sure or where it is most off. I have also adrenal, cortisol and DHEA issues or had prior to BC and just want to do one step at a time. Taiking Lodoral is something that sounds too good to be true and would still have to do the iodine uptake test. I know i am REALLY screwed up and pray i can get thru this week teaching. Feel like i am crashing on all levels.

Helloooo, girls - sorry I've been MIA on the natural girls thread for a few days! Truth be told... I've been away because I've been pretty depressed. I will turn 39 in less than two months. I feel like my chance for being a Mommy are slipping through my fingers.

I've also been trying to decide on whether to follow my doctor's advice and have a mastectomy. The women on the DCIS forum have pretty much scared me into doing the mastectomy (even though the thought of an implant UNDER my pectoral muscle absolutely creeps me out -- I need to do some reading on the recon forum to see if there are other options). It will cost thousands of $$$ under our new insurance, and that's depressing too... it's money we don't have, and even if we did, we'd want to use it on fertility treatment.

I bought myself a sprouter for Christmas so this caught my eye:

I do want to ask about sprouts. If anyone is growing their own... My sprouter states to soak seeds in 1 part bleach to 9 parts water before starting seeds. Is this necessary ? I am concerned about adding chemicals to my seeds.

I agree with others, I would never in a bazillion years soak my seeds in a bleach solution! I just soak mine (and rinse them subsequently) in triple-filtered water. How is the sprouting going? Sprouts are a life-saver during these icy winter months when organic produce is expensive!

Merilee and PS73, I'm so glad things went well so far... I will pray for you both for continued good outcomes!

OH, I nearly forgot -- I have a confession! I did pretty well over Christmas as far as avoiding sugar-y treats, but the other day, I was starving and for the first time since October, the sight of an Arby's was very appealing to me. (Arby's had been my several-times-weekly lunch option for over a year -- I know that contributed to my DCIS!! As soon as I heard the "c" word from my doctor, it instantly lost appeal.)

I drove through and ordered one of their "market-fresh" sandwiches... and... *horrors* a small order of curly fries.

Amazingly... those curly fries, which I had been SO addicted to, tasted DISGUSTING to me. They tasted like stale chemicals.  I was so happy about this!! (not happy I "cheated," but happy my body has learned to recognize food vs. crap!)

Still feeling good. Was a little tired yesterday but a nap fixed it. I am amazed at how little this has affected me. I expected to feel like I had the flu and so far I have not. I thought I would be more affraid to and was not. Something must have switched in my head. I just keep thinking of  the chemo of a sort of   cancer ce,  ,body detox. In a few days I can start to clean out the chemo and get my body ready for the next one on the 28.th

I have a question for post menopausal women...do you take the A.I. drugs or do you do natural hormone balancing? I use progesterone cream myself, but I was pre-meno before diagnosis. What do you do? I have a real problem with eliminating all estrogen. I am trying to advise a post meno friend who was recently diagnosed. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

    Off topic...

I haven't been following your whole story, Julia, but I had a mastectomy (a single) with TA and implant reconstruction. That was last year. I didn' really have a choice in the matter, since I had several cancerous sites in that breast. To this day I am very sad about that loss. Women underestimate it or plain just don't talk about it. Let's just say that I am very glad I did NOT have both breast removed out of fear. My surgeon told me he would not recommend that I remove a perfectly healthy breast.  He said he would do whatever I wanted him to, but he wouldn't advise it. That was the best advise I got.  Not having a breast (for me) is like not having a leg. I can limp along (sexually) but not having either and I feel like I would have been paralyzed. That is just how I feel. Maybe other women here will feel differently or tell you otherwise, but for me, that was one of my ONLY erogenous zones. It may look normal and to someone else's Wink touch, "feel" normal, but to me it is numb and completely non-existant because I can't feel it at all. There is a secret forum on recon here on BC dot org whereby you can register to see recon. esthetic results but nobody can tell you how it feels or doesn't feel in the end, either emotionally or physically. I have talked to SOME women who have had DIEP flaps who say they can actually feel their new breast, and some who don't. They say it is not a sexual sensation though, just a  skin sensation, but I don't even have that. Cry

This is totally off topic for this thread.  Sorry.

Donna-Laura and I are getting together on Wed. Is there any way you can join us? Can you take a personal day??? Maybe you should take a sabbatical until you get your systems working better. I am sure they would understand.

Merilee-Have you read Dr. Strand's book "What your doctor doesn't know about nutrition"? He maintains that his patients who followed a healthy diet, and added supplements had better chemo outcomes, even thought the oncs said no to supplements, and told them to eat whatever they wanted. There has since been more and more proof that starving the good cells through chemo is not only bad for them, the cancerous cells do not feed off of the good stuff the way healthy cells do. God bless.

Jenni-I am looking forward to meeting you at the prevention convention. Get a couple of good friends or sisters to come with you. It is going to be a lot of fun. And everyone will learn a lot too!

Crunchy-I always wonder if those whose dcis turns to mets is because of the treatments themselves. I have been reading more and more that often times dcis would not even develop into cancer, but they never promote lifestyle changes or check for hormonal inbalances or mineral deficiences to see if that is causing it. I keep reading that many of these early stage cancers might even go away on their own. That is why I love thermography. You can see if a tumor is growing and then decide to take action instead of having a biopsy right away. Since they are safe and cheap, they can be done more often without worry. I think the time is coming when therms will be more accepted as the standard, as the dangers of mammos become more in the mainstream. My girlfriend had her third therm last week. She had a questionable mammo and went for a therm with me for a second opinion. Our doctor told her to keep checking to see if there were changes, while her other doctor wanted to biopsy. A couple of months ago, I talked her into taking the iodine. Our doctor was surprised that her therm now showed that everything was clear! Yuck, I just turned on GMA and they are touting all these new young women getting on the "breast cancer awareness" bandwagon from some new internet campaign that tells women to get those damn mammos! They are killing us with this technology. Radiation builds up. If they take several pictures, look how many exposures you will get in 10 years-hundreds! Someone is making a lof of money off of causing our cancer.

Which leads me to the article that deanna posted. It was a good find-thanks d! I had so many scans before dx because my stupid doctor would not listen to me when I told her my chest pains felt like it was muscular-skeletal. Nothing showed up on the scans, but she sent me for more, until finally I said enough. Then boom, BC! After treatments I still had the pain, so I went to a chiro. He immediately suspected costalcondritis, and after a few treatments, it was gone. I had had it for years! He said it is very common in women, and the symptoms were classic. What are they teaching in medical school! Oh, I know, drugs 101, drugs 102, drugs 103 . . .

Crunchy, don't let others get you down. There are a lot of downers on this board. I learned long ago to stay away from them. It seems some of them want us to be just as miserable as they are. You have been doing great, and just keep plunging forward. When you get your systems in order , you will be blessed with a happy and healthy baby. It may be harder to get pregnant as you age, but if you are balancing your hormones, you will have a better chance. Have you started iodine yet? I know I sound like I am selling this stuff, honestly I am not, although I am about ready to tell Dr. B he needs to pay me royalties for all the books I have bought for others. LOL

I still keep coming across information on iodine deficiency that is connecting the dots for me. For instance, I could not nurse very long, I was drying up-lack of iodine. My kids were jaundice and I had horrible back labor-lack of iodine. My kids had ADD-lack of iodine. All the signs were there but doctors have no clue. The more we get the word out there, and the more success we have, I think this will become as common to check for as blood pressure. I think Brownstein and Abramson will eventually get a Nobel Prize for medicine for what they are doing. They are preventing cancer. The world will eventually get the message.

Deanna, that soy article was interesting too. The problem I have is that it was done with Chinese women. Is their soy as GMO and sprayed as ours is? I am sure eating soy from the US is not good. It is the most sprayed and genetically modified crop we grow. We also need to start to demand that this stops! When I finish my webite, I plan to have a lot of discussion on the polititics of cancer, which sadly is always nasty around here. We need to need to change the conversation from treatments to prevention. I hope my little convention is the start of this campaign. I sure hope you will all join me. We are spread out geographically, and we have the power to make this movement viral. I cannot do it alone. We need each other. Get your friends together and come here in March and help me get this thing going!

Yes I have the book. It was my choice to go off antioxidants for 10 days with each treatment. Antioxidants protect cell walls and I really need the Chemo to be able to penetrate the cell walls to work most effectively. I only  want to do this chemo thing once so I need to make the most of it. I am still on some supplements to protect my organs and blood.  The way I see it, 10 days is not a long time, and I will detox starting with a massage on Friday.
