Samsue: Where do you get your almond oil from? Anyone ghave any really good moisturizers for the face that they can recommend?

My560sel - I bought a bottle at WalMart. Check out either the top shelf/bottom shelf in the cooking oil department. It stays thick when it's cooler and "melts" when it's warm. So when I got it from walmart the store must have been 60* inside, taking it home to my house at 77* it melted... kinda funny. Didn't expect that. I ended up putting it in a jar with a pump and put some in the bathroom for easy access. The rest for cooking I store in the frig.
Multi purpose! Oh, and it doesn't take very much for either the face, boobs or hair. A little goes a long way.

YES.. when Dr OZ was supporting flu shots, that concerned me. I almost died when I had the swine flu shot back in the early 80;s. Granted, shots have improved by now, but no Dr could tell me what happened or why. Allergic reaction that had me so ill, hives and heart would not regulate. I will never take a flu vaccine!!

Thanks samsue, I'll check it out next time I'm there.
As for the flu shot, I had one against my better judgement four years ago. My Dr urged me to do it and stupidly I did. I had a reaction to the shot for over 3 months. I had flu-like symptoms I just couldn't get rid of. Wiped me out completely. I cringe to think of what it did to my immune system. The Dr didn't beleive my syptoms came from the shot...he said the famous words "it's impossible". That's when I decided that I knew more than he did and that was and would be the last time I ever have a vaccine.

Ugh, that kind of doctor and that kind of attitude make me LIVID!! What idiotic know-it-alls.
Thanks for the almond oil tip - I love anything almondy so I will definitely be getting some of that for using on my hair and skin! Probably won't cook with it though; I've gotten so choosy about what oils I cook with since so many of them go rancid. I'm sure almond oil is perfectly fine for cooking; I've just developed irrational phobias! LOL

samsue-did you mean coconut oil or almond oil? They are both great but I think coconut oil is the best. It does not get rancid. Sometimes I will take the two an mix them. This keeps the coconut oil from solidfying, but you do have to mix it now and then. I only use the coconut oil for cooking, as it has a high burn rate. I just started using some walnut oil I got from a local store that is great on salads.
Teri, I use the coconut oil on my face too, except as I said at night because it really speeds the metabolism. People actually eat the stuff to lose weight. I use the Usana skin care products other times, as it is paraben free, and I can throw the hand cream in my purse.
I went to the talk this afternoon about beating cancer with nutrition. It was fantastic! So much great info, I will have to put it all in a blog, which you can check on my website. Lots of good book recommendations too. I thought I had read them all. LOL!

crunchy - I use the almond oil for cooking but also use grapeseed and mostly olive. Just depends on what I'm cooking. Add a lot of olive to anything Italian.

Vivre, as always, looking forward to reading about what you've learned on your website!

It's been a while since I've posted on here. I've missed so much!
Fairy-I want to try your products. I'd like to learn how to make some myself.
MsBliss-Thank you for posting about the emu oil. I would never use it because an animal had to be killed to get it. There are so many other options. Things evolve-I've evolved. I am a more responsible consumer because of it. I used Rosa Mosquetta oil made by Audrey Organics. I even used it on my face because it was so light. Another great healing cream is Arbordoun's Calendula Cream. It's quite heavy. I used it on my incisions after MX.
Vivre-Hi, glad to see you're still coming here helping others.
FYI-There are many great oils one can use on the body. I encourage you all to checkout the http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/index2.html website. Look at the nutritional content of hemp oil! I couldn't believe it! It even has a high iodone content.
Take care Ya'll

I use Almond oil on my face too... for about 6 months now -- love it! I use the Now brand ... I buy it at GNC -- they occasionally run a special 2 of the big bottles for $16. I also use it on my arms and legs after my shower and before I towel off.... keeps the skin nice and smooth, not dry.
Prior to using almond oil on my face, I used coconut oil for quite some time but the problem was, it would get in my eyes..... this doesn't happen with the almond oil because it is a little thicker.

Interesting article in my inbox tonight...
http://www.jonbarron.org/natural-health/nl101115/newsletter-organic-conventional.php
The whole article's worth reading, but even if you skim it, be sure to click on the link at the end of the second page -- about which corporate conglamorates own some of the "organic" food companies.
Deanna
PS ~ Terri, I LOVE your new avatar! You look so beautiful!

Deanna, thanks for that article -- LOL, I knew when that blitz of headlines came out declaring "Organic veggies no more nutritious than conventionally grown!" that it had to be bogus. In fact, I was so sure of it, I didn't even bother to look into their methodology. (The Industry is so predictable!)
And yeah, I'm always suspicious of what I call "industrial organic." I'd rather buy from the little organic farm near me that may not be able to afford USDA organic certification, but I've SEEN how they farm, I've "met" the animals, and I know they're not using loopholes just so they can call themselves organic. That's the main reason I don't even shop at Whole Foods that much anymore and find myself making the trip to my two favorite local organic farms more and more often. I'd rather buy veggies with rich soil still clumped to them than a bar code stamped on them!
Terri, I agree, you look amazing!!

I have an off-the-wall question... Last week I upped my Iodoral a bit and started experiencing the usual symptoms, especially itching (all over) and breakouts (on my face). So I decided to use the complementary nutrients for the first time, which I started on Friday. Now, today, I have a weird, out of the ordinary craving for protein -- tofu, peanut butter, hard boiled eggs, tuna. I just finished my morning walk/run, and all I could think about was getting home to eat one or all of the above! So my question is, is this coincidence or related? Does anyone know???
And Hood, keep me and everyone here posted on next year's LV trip. I didn't think I knew anyone especially well who was going on that. Didn't realize that you and Terri both went! Deanna

Deanna: Ever since I had chemo I crave protein all of the time. I would just listen to your body and do what it tells you. It takes sometimes years to recover and protein is at the top of the list for what our bodies need. I don't know if this answers your question but that's all I have!

Deanna - I don't know if it is related or not but I agree with MBJ - listen to your body. I would not eat peanuts in any shape or form. I eat cashew butter or almond butter.

What's wrong with peanuts, Patty? The only form I like or ever eat them in is a fresh honey roasted peanut butter I get at a local natural foods market.
And I'm with you & MBJ on listening to our bodies. I just wondered if I'm washing out protein along with bromides, or if anyone else has experienced a protein craving when doing this type of detox. Deanna

Deanna -
I haven't experienced the protein cravings - but I have read that your body needs more protein to support detoxification.
The itching and breakouts are classic detox symptoms. The companion nutrients, including the salt are important. - It is suggested when you have detox symptoms to add salt loading - in addition to the 1/2 tsp a day of the celtic sea salt that is suggested as part of the protocol.
The response to salt loading varies. WHat is suggested is that you drink additional unrefined sea salt(Celtic or other) in water until you start copius urination. It doesn't mean you have to drown yourself - but if say - after drinking a glass of teh salt water(1/4-1/2t in water) you haven;t started increasing urine output after about 30-45 minutes - I would drink some more.
If you continue to have the issues after salt loading and it is not resolved after a couple of days - they usually suggest lowering your dose or pulse dosing Iodoral- say 5 days on - 2 days off - until things seem to settle.
There is probably better info at the Yahoo Iodine site or maybe someone else will chime in .
Good Luck!
Beth

Deanna...good article!!! Is the Lodoral the iodine eveyone is on? I take a iodine supplement from my holisitc Dr...from Natural Living. It is 5mg of iodine and 7.5 iodide. This is also not goin to be avaialable and need to order some other iodine supplement.
Started my wobenzyn N supplements today. Do I stay on 6 tabs a day for ever? Looking forward to these results My body hurts alot and know there is some fibromayaglia issues there underlining. Not getting good sleep is also playing havoc on my body!!!.Also just completed a 3 day stool test to see if leaky gut is present. This condition can also cause insomnia!!!
Friday is my nipple recon and am anxious for this to be done with. IT is time and it is the right time for me. Still do iodine on my scars at night and swear i see improvement already and it is two weeks.
Thanks for all the good info here and have done alot of tweaking in just a couple of weeks and change has occurred,!

Deanna, I ALWAYS crave protein....I'm constantly looking for some protein to nibble on during the day..(maybe that's why I can't lose weight???). I usually chomp on some nuts.
BTW, whats' wrong with eating peanuts? I sometimes have a spoonful of organic peanut butter to satisfy my cravings.Should I not be doing this?
Is Wobenzym something I should be taking? Hmmm, I'll have to do some reading up on it.
As for Vegas, it was such a special time. I was a bit nervous going at first but am so glad that I did. It was a bonding experience like no other and I'm looking forward to going again next year...UM, hubby doesn't know that yet....lol

The heck with Vegas, you gals need to come to Chicago next June for the Health & Freedom Expo. You can't beat 30 bucks for three days of fantastic seminars. I will be happy to make arrangements for anyone who wants to come, and give your tours of our beautiful city. It is usually the first weekend in June. Plus is is right in the middle of the continent for everyone. Lots of cheap fares from Quebec, Teri.
Interesting about craving proteins. The nutritionist I heard speak yesterday talked about eating for your metabolism. When you eat foods that are right for you, you lose weight, which I did when I switched to a mediterranean diet. Look at your ancestry. People from Northern Europe tend to be more carnivores and from warmer areas, more vegan. That could be why native Americans had such a hard time with diabetes and weight gain when they went from hunter gatherers, with little grains, to lots of carbs when they adopted the European diet. It could also explain why Asian people may be healthier with soy, and it may be just the opposite with caucasians. This seminar made so much sense. Have you seen vegans who look like death warmed over, and other vegans who are vibrant and healthy? My husbands family are all of celtic ancestry and they love meat, and pototoes and are all thin. They hardly touchvegetables. I eat a carb and I gain a pound. This nutritionist was saying that when you eat the kind of diet that is right for your metabolism, you stay healthy. It was very thought provoking. Of course, no one stays healthy if they overload on the SAD (standard american diet).

Vivre: Your comments on the diet of your ancesters (or genetics) is really interesting. It could explain some of my cravings. But of course, like many Americans, I do not have one pure ancestry and I am part English and part Eastern European (Hungarian/Latvian). But my cravings do go towards the foods of my ancestry. It is really interesting though those are also the foods that I grew up with.
Do you have the dates for your conference set up yet? And what hotels would be near the conference center
Have a nice day!!

Vivre - I would love to learn more about the conference in Chicago too!

I really can't remember why I stopped eating peanuts. I read something about them awhile back and now I don't know what it was . I did just read this: Peanuts baked in baked goods - kills most of the fungus. Peanuts are not wise to eat raw, peanut butter has been tested and different fungus strains have been found in peanut butter.
I don't crave protein. I wish I did then maybe I wouldn't look anorexic. I need some pounds!!!
Love to all, Patty

Patty, I would love to give you some of my pounds! I am in the process of cleaning up my diet & am hanging out here with you natural girls & getting some excellent guidance. Thank you all very much! Joyce

vivre- Interesting about the genetic link to diet and nutrition. Just last week on the local evening news here in NYC they had a story about a doctor who tests (genes I think) to determine what nutritional diet (Mediterranean etc...) is best for people. It seems a lot of the diet yo yo failures are because they are not suited to people's genetic makeup. If I find the news story I'll put up the link. And I LOVE Chicago (in June, not the winter!!). By the way, I am considering one of your favorite Nedak rebounders. Another wonderful thing about them is they are totally made and manufactured right in Nebraska, no Chinese, junky quality, keeping jobs right here. I love that!0
