Maria, I will have to be even more inspired now, as my skull x-ray showed lesions suspicious of cancer. Appointment with med onc today to discuss what happens next.
I know God has a plan for me, and I am keeping my hand securely in his, waiting for him to guide the way.

Praying for each of you here in your various situations. God does have a plan and He wants us to trust Him and draw close to Him. Only He can see the entire picture from a perfect perspective. We only see the tiny part, but He sees the eternal benefit for everyone. Have you heard the song, "Put your hand in the Hand of the Man from Galilee"? He WILL guide us!

I am praying for you - I am Catholic, and I am going to include you in my novena to St. Peregrine, the patron saint of cancer patients . . . your faith continues to inspire me - and God indeed does have a plan for us all . . .
Blessings and hugs - you are a unique and special individual . . . and you will get through this!

Oh my goodness you wonderful ladies. I go away for two days and here i read about so many scarey new changes and you are all so brave as you wait for the news. I am a Protestant within the United Church of Christ and I know God blesses us each and every day. So, to add to our tea, our martini and my classic California Robert Modavi 2006 Merlot, I sip and wait and rest and pray withyou all. I wish you could hear the strength, the comfort of my father's voice who was a minister who ended every conversation with "God Bless".

Hi Jess!
Thanks for sharing your faith and your classic Mondavi 2006 Merlot! That is a fabulous wine and one of my favorites . . . we really should have a "cocktail waiting lounge" in this "Waiting Room" with lots of yummy canapes and great music! Blessings to you and everyone else who is "waiting" for results . . . and storming the heavens for us all!

Had a brain MRI last night in VA to check for brain mets. Still have headache and am on oxycontin which makes me drowsy.
After a three-week washout period, I will be switching to the PARP inhibitor arm of the trial as the cancer in my lung and has progressed.

Thoughts and prayers are with you. With God on your side, all is in control! Just take one step at a time and know He's right beside you.

Still waiting or results of brain MRI. Maybe Monday. Headache continues. Thank God for oxycontin.
Next step is to get through the night and be able to attend church tomorrow. We are having a pot luck dinner after services, and our contribution is already in the crockpot!
On Monday I hope to be receiving and making some phone calls to figure out the next steps in my cancer journey.

I came by to visit and see how you are all doing. The waiting room has always been both scary and a place to get comfort and understanding. It looks like it is still so, and much more.
Blessings to all of you, and especially to Bette. Hello, and an enormous hug for you, my dear.

Bette-- I hope this evening finds you rested and free of pain. God Bless

I think this is my first visit to the waiting room, although i have been on the board since last year.I had a bilateral mastectomy aug.08,followed by chemo, and now on femara.
I thought i was doing well for awhile then a month or so ago i started getting headaches, dizziness, losing my balance etc,and was having unbearable pain in my right arm and shoulder.
Went back to both the oncologist, pcp and a physiotherapist.Seems the arm and shoulder are from arthritis(which i already knew about) and some torn tendons.
In the last 2 weeks or so,most of my time has been spent at hospitals and dr's having mri's with and without contrast of the brain,clavical/brachial plexus, cervical spine, chest. Also had full body bone scan,c.t. of chest and pelvis. Then this past thursday i had to have a biopsy of the skull as they found a lesion on the skull when they did the mri.
The dr's think it's nothing, and i'm praying and believing they are right. The biopsy was really easy, once they put that shot of lidocaine in my skull.I was awake while they did it,just had an iv to relax me,since my xanax had worn off, then had to stay in recovery for 2 hours after. So far so good.PTL
Have an appt with the oncologist on the 14th.Waiting is the hard part,i'm plumb out of patience!!!
Good luck to you bette and to everyone else, who is going thru something or waiting for something.Guess i found a new home on these bds.

Hi
I must join the waiting room. I read back a few pages and I pray with all of you that are waiting for results that your wait is not long and the results are b9!!
I have been having bad pain in my left hip. It radiates down my leg, throbbing at times. I feel it in my groin, the bone in my butt and my side. My pcp did xrays and they said arthritis. Then she did MRI of lower back and it said arthritis, sclerosis, and bulging 2 discs. They gave me an anti inflammatory but it didn't do anything. It has been 2 1/2 months and now I am going to orthopedic dr. on Thursday and having an MRI on Wed. ordere by my onc. I called him cause it is sooo painful, I can hardly walk and it just throbs all night long. I have difficulty getting in and out of the car also. I have procrastinated getting to this point because I am of course, scared that it is mets. I don't like MRI's. I freaked out the last time I had one and I had taken a xanax. I admire all of you here who have had so many different tests done!
I will wait in this waiting room with you where I know I will find strentgh and comfort. I prayer for all of you, also.
Hugs and prayers,
Candie

candie, I too have suffered with that pain and automatically think it's mets although scans say it's arthritis. Anti-inflammatories haven't worked very well but have started taking Omega3's as well as other suppl and have noticed a huge difference. Maybe you could explore that route? Tina

Hello Waiting Room,
I'm new to this website. Waiting for results from the CT scan I had today after being diagnosed in June with met stage IV going to liver. So far, 10 treatments of Abraxane/Avastin and clinicals, bloodwork to date were good. Dr. not expecting bad results but then again, neither was I back in June when that didn't work out. Results of scan will be given on Wednesday. The waiting is difficult. If there was a floor to pace, I'd be wearing ruts into it.
I've been reading your posts, especially Bette's. Yes, this is quite a journey, isn't it? You ladies are amazing.

Welcome, Linda
I am still waiting for my brain MRI results. If it were positive, what would the next step be?
Bette

Bette, good morning . . .
Forgive me if I am wrong, but I really think that if the results of the MRI were positive you would have heard about it by now. I remember getting my BC biopsy on a Friday and getting the results first thing on the following Monday . . . my surgeon had told me she told the techs to put it "on the top of the heap" - so I really have a strong, good feeling that it may turn out to be negative. Let's keep praying that it does! I know how stressful and awful it is to wait - I have to wait until Thursday for my results of CT scan and follow-up mammos -meet with med onco at that time. STILL on tenterhooks . . . the waiting and the uncertainty are truly the most daunting and stressful. Of course, I cannot even begin to compare what you are going through with my piddling stuff, but the anxiety of waiting and the uncertainty are surely the same.
Thinking of you today and hoping and praying you get good news!
Big hugs,
Maria

Hi, My name is Jean and I joined this group last week. I have found it helpful to read as I sit in the "waiting room".
I was diagnosed in Aug 09. I have triple negative bc. I had a one cm tumor and it was considered stage one. I had a sentinal lymph node and lumpectomy Sept 1st, cancer was found in one lymph nodes. I am now not sure if it is stage one. I guess I am waiting for that answer.
I got the news mid Sept. that I needed auxillary lymph surgery plus needed to get 2 more margins. I had that surgery last week.
Now I am waiting for results. If they didn't get all margins I will need a mastectomy, if they did get it I will start chemo. The waiting is awful. I feel fine but can't work or drive because of the drain in my arm. so here I sit..........

Welcome Jean and Linda! Candie, thank you for the prayers.
Just received an e-mail from my radiology department that performed the f/u mammo yesterday: "Your diagnostic mammogram shows the need for further evaluation." They sent a copy to my med onco, with whom I meet on Thursday to discuss these results and also results from CT scan. Also found out I did not get the job for which I interviewed last week. Perhaps that is for the best. Cannot imagine starting new job with a series of other tests facing me in the very near future. Well, it's all in God's hands at this point - I do believe in destiny. Things happen for a reason. If I did not believe that, I would be in a straightjacket right now!

Britt,
sorry you didnt get a better answer from the radiology dept. That kind of answer just leads to more questions. I find with this illness the waiting and questions just continue. I hope you get the answers you need soon.
good attitude on your job....It is hard to think of learning a new position with so much on your mind.

Thanks, Jean . . . you are absolutely correct, the tests and the waiting and the tests and the waiting just go on and on and on . . . thanks for your good wishes.
And thanks for agreeing about the job. Besides having to learn a position with so many things on my plate, the job is located 40 minutes from all of my doctors and I cannot see them being happy about a new employee taking a lot of time off for MRIs, appointments, ultrasounds, biopsies etc. etc. etc.

A very similar thing happened to me - I had a lumpectomy and SNB on 1/16/09 - at the time of the surgery, nodes looked clean - then the path report, which came in a week later, found a micromet (0.2cm) in one of the nodes. So, I opted to have the rest of the nodes taken out on 2/10/09 - and it took a week to get the results that they were clean. However, my surgeon had a hard time during the initial surgery getting a clean margin - so she had to cut to nearly the chest wall. But the results look good - hardly a dent. But I know how you feel - I hated those drains! I it took nearly two weeks for them to be ready to be taken out - it was so frustrating! I would definitely call your surgeon to see what's going on - but if you had the surgery last week, perhaps your path report will be ready in a couple of days - but it never hurts to call - even if you have toc all them every day! You have to know the results in order to make a decision - an important one. Please keep us posted and you are definitely in my thoughts and prayers.

I had the MRI today of hips. They gave me the films right away for the orthopedic surgeon that I will see tomorrow morning. My onc will get formal results tomorrow. I wait with you in the waiting room.
hugs, loves and prayers to all of you

hello everyone. I am waiting with you all again as I wait for another blood test to determine if I need more tests to look at why my wbc is so low. They think at this point it is because I had a root canal and took antibiotics and ibuprophen...but that was four weeks ago. It is always something.
So a toast, a sip of tea or a slurp of coffee....i am waiting with you all.

Good morning everyone!

Good luck and blessings to all of us who are waiting!

I am again in the waiting room. Waiting this time to learn my new chemo schedule with the PARP inhibitor arm of the trial. Also waiting for some kind of medical appointment to follow up on my bad headaches. My skull x-ray showed numerous lesions, although my brain MRI was clear. It's good news about the MRI, but the headaches are keeping me awake at night.
The family doctor does not want to treat them, and the oncologist here is saying essentially that I am not their patient anymore and that I should go to VA . So frustrating.
This will happen in God's time. I will be patient and lean on His strong arm.
Bette
