Mary - re tumor markers -- they are quite unreliable -- depends on the person.  For some people they are great for monitoring how they're doing.  For others, such as myself, my tumor markers have always been normal even with my mets.  Strange...

    Good morning, all

Americanpinay, good luck with the MRI today.

Mr PCP gave me another antiinflammatory to try. I hope this works. Can't wait to go to new orthopedic surgeon on Tues. 3 Dr's so far can't figure out what's wrong. I am a wreck!!

Waiting right now for x-ray to see if right ankle is BROKEN. I have bening told for three weeks that it was arthritis.

On Wednesday have an appointment with a surgeon who may do kyphoplasty of compression fractures at T9 and T12 to relieve the pain until chemo is over and they can do rads.

And on Monday is yet another trip to VA!

A few more magazines and a martini please!

    Bette

BetteLou--yes, you definately deserve a martini and the best magazines.  how about a massage???

i went away for the weekend and totally enjoyed myself.  It was a much needed break.  I went to an island in Michigan called Mackinac Island.  It is essentially the last weekend before the island closes down.  There are no cars on the island; I was amazed at how quiet it was/is.  During the winter the locals who stay there snow mobile or walk.  I loved it.  I looked seriously at a store that is for sale-hey, if I lose my job, maybe I belong at a resort!!!!

I am having a PET scan done tomorrow and want to know what I should expect from this.  I am going to have a relaxent before (1 mg ativan, does this work to relax a person?).  I am nervous for the scan more so than I am for the results although I really don't want to have a recurrance of my breast cancer.  I have been 4 1/2 years of NED and I want it to stay that way.  Tumor markers are elevated to 94 and my bone scan showed a small spot on my sternum (been having a lot of pain there).  I really hate the waiting game, but have such a better perspective on life this time around then the first time.  Not as much a basketcase this time just want answers.  Any advice?

    omaha...ouch...hope you feel better...

bottkota...I had a PET/CT scan three weeks ago...nothing to eat the night before the test...30 minutes or so before the actual scan, the tech would inject you with radioactive sugar...supposedly, cancer cells love sugar so that when they scan you, the cancerous areas light up BUT sometimes areas light up because of benign conditions (for example, infection) so the results need to be compared to other tests...hope this helps...good luck to you...

    be well ladies...

Hello everyone.  I hope all is well.  Though my mammo came clear, my dd has the swine flu!  It is scarey because it hits so fast and her fever keeps climbing and climbing.  I am very nervouse about this.  I wish the tamiflu would kick in.  Hugs everyone.  I'll probably need a  couple or three martinis after this!

Update on me...had my 3 month check and blood work last Wednesday. Onc said if you don't hear back from me....no news is good news. Well I have heard nothing!

I have my mammogram on the 27th. Joy....that place is the worst! I always leave in tears running out the door. It brings all the horrible memories of diagnosis back....<sigh> Im wondering how long I can deal with the anxiety and mammo's. Thinkin about removing the healthy breast, but still on the fence. Does this BC crap ever REALLY go away?

    lexislove,

That great!  The adage "no news is good news" however has been in my experience has been "no news is good news but the lab is slow!"  LOL  Cool

Update from my TVUS that was done on October 1st.  Dr. office called on the 6th and says "Dr. X" would like for you to come in and discuss results.  Nothing to be alarmed about."  Well Crap, thanks for making my day!  Anyway, my appt is this afternoon - someone please pass me a drink!

    Hugs to all!

    Trish

Lexislove--I know what you mean about the tears during the mammogram.  When the techie came out and said the radiologist found nary a sign of cancer, I almost broke down in tears right then and there.  I was able to wait for the dressing room , and then I just cried and cried.  I gotta say that waiting room was so quiet!  Not like this super duper , very cool room.

Btw, DD's fever broke and she is doing so much better.  Doc said she can't go to school till she hasn't had any fever or motrin aid to bring the fever down for 24 hours.  Her fever broke last night at 103....gosh that's pretty darn high.

    American pinay--thanks for your thoughts.

    Trish, here's a tasty drink--clinkclink!!

I love  Ativan!   used to get it via IV prior to chemo.  Have taken it orally - it does work!  Could use some now as I wait for results.  Actually freaking out because I have to go to a new lab to have the bloods drawn.  Don't want to do anything different.  I never knew I was so superstitous (sp?).  Everyone hang in there - the sun will come up tomorrow.

I know, Ozzi, I don't know how I would get along during the PET scans without ativan.

prayrv, am hoping it's something simple.  Let us know.

well all - the cysts have resolved and are no longer a concern (at the moment)

However, with the endometrium triple the size of a normal one, the fibroid and the polyp -  I am having a D & C tomorrow.  I'll post when I find out the results, until then - just is where is that cabana boy with my drink?!

    Hugs to all,

    Trish

Got my blood test results.  They are posted online now.  CA15-3 elevated out of normal range (just a little bit) and ALT quadrupled (liver enzyme).  Freaked out and called Doctor Friday.   She says more often than not it is nothing.  I was on medication for a UTI that I finished a week before the test - and had some type of reaction.  I am hoping that is it. . . . . . . . . . probably will take blood test again tomorrow and again in a month.  Another month of anxiety. . . . . . . oh well. . . . ativan and chocolate. . . . . . . .another reason not to go to my weight watchers meetings. . . . you would think after nine years I would have a greater comfort level with this. . . . . .
