What would I do with out you all wonderful strangers? Thank you so much!
I am having better day today. I guess my teenager son, who drives me a little crazy ( on top of usual) with his girlfriend, has re-shifted my attention from surgery. I learned something new : don't negotiate with terrorists and teenagers!
I really hope my husband will be ok with me after surgery ( really can not have anybody else to help, no neighbors and no friends I can really trust this way). My first husband, after witnessing natural delivery of our second child freaked out and after few years had another woman to replace me, his explanation was : "I never recovered sexually after being in delivery room"...so I don't want to take another chance and will be trying very hard do not "traumatize" my husband with this surgery. Man...they are from another planet
I can not have my surgery earlier, I have no back up for my work until 25th and on top of it have to train new person . My boss doesn't know yet that day before surgery I will call in sick and will decorate Christmas tree at home instead!
Any ways, one day at the time I guess. Thank you again !

BRCA1 I am so glad you shared all you are experiencing. You have had some big losses in your life--your mom, your first marriage and now this surgery. I encourage you to share your fears and your recovery with your husband. I have been married for 24 years and although I know my DH is a good guy, I was not sure how he'd react to sutures, drains and all that goes with the surgery. He amazed me! He wanted to be a part of my whole recovery. His support was such a help to me and it brought us closer.
Your anxiety is normal. The waiting and wondering is so difficult! I think you will be relieved when it's all over. I agree with the suggestion to perhaps ask for some medication to help you relax. It could really take the edge off.
Your coworker sounds like an insensitive person. I find it amazing how bold people are in voicing their negative opinions without realizing the havoc it can create in another person's heart. My grandma would say "She's more to be pitied than scorned." meaning that she's a moron, not someone who we should feel anger towards!!
I hope you have a better day and get some peace about the date. I love your idea of decorating your Christmas tree! What a morale booster! Play some carols and eat cookies!
Take care. Hugs to you!

speech529, I love your grandma's saying! So true!
BRCA1, Hang in there and we are all pulling for you!
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

BRCA1, You are surrounded by support here. You will get through it with strength you don't even know you have. Pfft! The poor ignorant co-worker is dismissed. I hope she never has to know what we know.
Photos for you all.... well maybe not. Once again I mess that one up. Then I tried to show you one photo by making it my avatar. That didn't work either. grrrr

I had fat graphs from my stomach to fill in the hollow areas of my chest, a few months later a hard lump formed right above the fat graph and the area below sinks in again. I think the fat hardened and moved, so now I don't have just a sunk in area I also have a lump.

Hey, I did it. This is a close up of my vase for us.0

Fortunate, when I opened up this thread and saw your photo, I said, "Oohhhhh!" in admiration. It's beautiful. What's the size and how did you achieve the little speckles? The form makes me wish I had a figure like that. Thanks for sharing.
Last weekend I went to the Peter Anderson Art and Craft Show in Ocean Springs, MS. There must have been 15 potters with booths. I limited myself to just a few useful items, a beautiful mug and two spoon rests, things I can enjoy every day.
Today was my mother's 2nd pool therapy session. She did more exercise and was tired afterwards. I went into the pool, too, and did a workout. I decided I might as well make some use of the time. It costs $45 a month for unlimited use of the pool. Next week I'll meet with an acquatic workout person to do an evaluation, set goals and get some recommendations for a regular workout routine.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Fortunate1, I absolutely love it! I like the smooth beauty and perfection of the figure in contrast to the corrosive sort of texture of the glaze. Thanks for sharing. I'm sure you will find buyers. What about your PS?!0
-
Oh, thank you so much for the compliments. I hope I do find some buyers. My daughter-in-law has one, and a friend chose one as a wedding gift, I gave one away to my BC buddy, and just a few sold so far. Too personal perhaps? I'm going to keep this one until I make a better one. It's an idealized version of me, complete with the little high round implant. The glaze has crystals, browns, blacks and metallic. It's super smooth with a wonderful feel. I love that glaze.
Back to pricing pots....

But, before that, another pot. I only seem to be able to do one at a time.0

Fortunate1 you are so talented. I love the bust sculpture, it is so feminine, so lovely.

Fortunate1, I love your work! The bust and the plate above are wonderful! Very talented lady!

Fortunate1: Wow! What talent! I'm still waiting for mine to surface . My mother started painting later in life so who knows.
Carole: Good luck with your mom and with your swim program.
Freezing rain here today. Helped my mom have a shower and washed her hair. She had a tumour removed from her neck a couple of weeks ago and it is benign.
Hi to all. Have a great weekend.

DH and I are staying home today after a busy week when we met each other coming and going. This morning we collected pine straw and mulched flower beds. The brown color is so pretty against the green shrubbery and plants. This afternoon we're relaxing. Here we both sit in the living room with the giant tv on and each of us with a laptop computer on our laps! Earlier we had a couple of rain showers, much needed. DH is cooking lamb shanks for dinner.
Hope everybody is having a happy Sunday. BRCA, how are you? I've been thinking about you and hoping your nerves have settled down.

carolehalstonhi, I am doing very well and I am surprised at myself. My surgery is next week and I was thinking that what ever I felt will multiply with each and every day the closer I get to the 25th, but for now , i am calmer and feel better emotionally then last week. Go figure! I am getting ready , got my medications, cute Christmas PJ with buttons, gonna hit the gym today and will try to go every day for cardio...I feel like I am on the mission to get ready as much as I can . I am sure i will lose my focus one of those days and will be a mess , but for now I am doing very well . thank you for thinking of me.0

Brca1, so pleased to see you doing well. You are in my thoughts too.

Hi all, I am asking for your help please...Would you check "MRI showed 1.8cm ...plus pain???HELP" in "Not diagnosed , but worried" and tell me what you think? I posted it for my sister...I am going crazy worry about her. Talking about I was doing ok emotionally...I just want to scream now0
-
Hi BRCA1, I can identify with your concern. Within one year of my diagnosis, after my surgery, my identical twin sister was thoroughly checked out by the same BC. To our surprise, they found something to biopsy on the same side in the same area of her breast. I was extremely worried. I thought for sure that she would end up having the same diagnosis and outcome as me, but for her, everything came back benign. And she is the one who was diagnosed with LCIS ten years before my diagnosis!?! I know you are extremely worried, and I'm no expert, BRCA1+ puts you at a much higer risk, but doesn't automatically mean you get breast cancer, right? I would try to remember that there are many possible explanations, as hard as that may be right now. Hope you are feeling a little bit better today.

okiegal this is very strange but both me and my sister started to having pain in the same breast at almost the same time. My BS told me it looks like enlarge lymph , but said do not worry about it and drink a lot of water. I did drink like a fish and my pain went away and I had clear mammo few months ago ( which I believe doesn't mean much, but still). My sister have this pain and it doesn't go away and now MRI result is no good. I am trying to stay positive and hoping that maybe it is something else , but with BRCA on plate it is very scary.
I don't know what is harder to think that I have cancer or somebody who I love so much may have it? I don't want anything to happen to her...please keep you fingers crossed for her on Monday

BRCA1, we will all keep our fingers crossed! And remember, eventhough it is a great screening too, the MRI is crude compared to a biopsy. It may look scary on MRI, but turn out to be benign on closer, microscopic examination.
I agree, it seems harder to think that someone you love might have cancer. At least if it's "me", I can do something about it. If it's someone else, I can only wait and hope...and support. Weird. Hugs to you both. We'll hope for the best.
Must...get...off....computer!

Hello Everyone,
Fortunate1, Beautiful work!
Carole, Swimming is great exercise...great that you can do this with your mom! I hope you're enjoying it! I decided not to look at all the weight I need to lose, but just one pound at a time. My goal this week is to lose one pound. I'll see if this works...
Braca1, wishing you good results for your sister.
I hope everyone is well. The wreath I made for the bear center auction sold for $100.00! Now, I'm getting ready for Thanksgiving. My sister is separated from her husband (this has been dragging me down for months) and I think she and her family are coming, but not sure yet.
Cold and windy today, but the sun is out! Wishing you all a great day!

BRCA, I hope things turn out well for your sister.
Looks like DH and I will have my whole family here for Thanksgiving dinner. My two sisters and spouses and three brothers and spouses plus my mother and maybe a niece and her three young children. A grown nephew and another niece. Count is about 18. Our small house will be jam packed. Guess I'd better buy a turkey!
The pool therapy is going well. Today my mother managed to walk up the steps to get out of the pool rather than be lifted up in the lift chair. I had a session with a young intern who had written out a program of exercise for me. She showed me the various exercises. I think I'll really benefit from working out in the pool.
Our weather has been wonderful for weeks. Cool enough at night to sleep with the window open and warming up to high 60's or 70 during the day. Really perfect.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Meg: I had two sisters living with me at different times because of marital problems. It is draining emotionally but I'm glad they had a port in the storm.
BRCA1: Surgery is very soon? We will all be thinking of you and hope all is okay with your sister.
Carole: Have a great Thanksgiving with your family. That's what it is all about! Enjoy the lovely weather that you are having. We have a bit of snow.
Okiegal: Does your twin still look like you?
Fortunate1: What are you making now?
Going to Mama Mia today and then having friends over for dinner.
Hi to all.

Thank you for good wishes !0

I went to the supermarket this morning and purchased the Thanksgiving bird. I also bought crabmeat and crawfish tails and mirlitons (a type of vegetable) to make a seafood casserole for a side dish. Our small house will be very crowded with 16 people in addition to ourselves for dinner on Thanksgiving.
This has been a gorgeous fall with perfect weather. Today it was a little warm with temp in the high 70's. The forecast for Thanksgiving Day calls for possible showers.
Hope everyone is feeling good.

Carole, sounds yummy! I'm going to try a new recipe, turkey breast with apple and currant stuffing. My family celebrates on Wednesday night so the hunters can go hunting on Thanksgiving day. They drive quite a ways. My sister and I will celebrate with my mom, SIL and niece. We're going to try to keep it Weight Watcher friendly. I've actually been doing well "on program" and have lost 6 pounds in the last 8 weeks. I hope to lose about 4 more by the end of the year.
UpCreek, yes. My sister and I still look alike. We do look different to those who know us and we try to dress a bit differently (an added fashion burden ), but we are regularly confused by others and people often give us a "look" and then ask, "Are you sisters?" Where upon a conversation insues about being a twin. One woman recently asked us, while walking into a store, "Identical?" Ah, a short and sweet diagnostic question! Love it!
BRCA1, here's hoping you are busy enough this week to manage the pre-surgery jitters. I'm sure you will do great!
And to all...have a happy Thanksgiving!

Hello Everyone,
Tomorrow I have my OC appointment. I hope this will be my last visit for a while. After my appointment DH and I are going to lunch and a movie (Harry Potter). Thanksgiving will be quiet at my house. My sister decided to stay home with her family. My other sister will be with her family in Cape Cod. I never see my two brothers on holidays. Holidays changed when my parents passed away. Sometimes we go out to eat, but I will be cooking turkey and all the trimmings.
Okiegal, Congratulations on losing the weight!
I give thanks for all of you! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi, I am busy training my back up at work, so have little time to worry. I am doing ok and my hospital bag is packed. I can not believe it is just in 2 days !!! Question: how was your appetite after surgery? Did you force yourself to eat? I know when I am in pain I can't eat at all and with antibiotics I will have to take I will have to eat something...just wondering...
0 -
BRCA, I had little appetite after surgery, but drank juice in the hospital and also ate chipped ice. I ate a small amount at meals after I came home the next day because I knew I should eat something and also because DH hovered over me.
Good luck. We'll all be thinking about you.

Braca, Like Carole, I wasn't hungry. I drank bottled water. Some people get nauseous from the anesthesia. I called and spoke to the anthesiologist department before my surgery and express my concern. The doctor said he would give me something so I would not get nauseous and I did not. I did get nauseous from the pain medication afterward and the doctor prescribed something and I felt better. Keeping you in my thoughts...Let us know how you are. (((HUGS)))
