Meg9  Thanks for the shout-out!!  Congrats on going to WW...I saw their new system on CNN.  It looks very smart in regards to macronutrients.  Good luck!

BRCA1 Hope you are feeling better each day!

Pink  Good luck with your surgery--waiting is the hardest for sure!  Positive thoughts and prayers!!

It's sunny and warm here in Phoenix....I miss the beauty of the snow!   Stay warm and enjoy it as much as you can.  I know it can be a challenge sometimes.  But it sure makes a cozy day inside with the fire burning and a cup of tea.

    Hi ladies,

I went through  a double mx and one step reconstruction with alloderm.

I'm very happy with the outcome. The surgery was almost a year ago (January) and I haven't had my nips done.

Hope it is ok to join this gang.

I'm in Israel, and the winter refuses to arrive.

Mai Tai, you're very welcome.  Pink, I'll be thinking about you tomorrow.  I hope when you wake up after your surgery, you'll experience the same euphoria that I did one year and 4 months ago.

I had an apptment with my BC dr. today.  On the way there I did a time count and realized, Hey, I'm a 1 yr 4 mos survivor.  Time does fly by.  Everything looked good with the ultrasound of my armpits and chest.  I'll go back in 6 mos. and then I'll go once a year for 3 yrs.  Once a year I'll have bloodwork for tumor markers.

Tonight DH and I went to the nearby jr. high school to see a play, Annie Jr.  Our young neighbor, aged 13, was one of the actors.  He's a real ham.  Sings and dances.

I can hardly believe that 2010 is almost over.  Hope everyone is enjoying the pre-Christmas weeks.  The sum total of my decorations is an evergreen wreath on the door and a gilt reindeer Christmas card holder with a couple of decorations hung on his ears.  I enjoy other people's outside lights and pretty decorations in public places.

We've had freezing temperatures two nights in a row, and it's supposed to dip down into the 20's tonight.  Today was too cold for golf and I even skipped walking.

At the risk of being cynical, I think the new WW program is very similar to the Points system.  Changing the program every few years is all part of marketing new gadgets like the pedometers and food calculators.  New cookbooks and new snacks and packaged foods.  WW works if you follow whatever program is current.  I first lost weight on WW back in the 90's with the old exchange program.

    Wishing all a good evening.

    Hi Pink,

You are in my prayers. Are you having the implant procedure at the same time?

    That is what I did.

Carole, thx for the warm welcome.

I'm also been trying to lose the 12 pounds I gained during treatments and Tamox. I'm working out 3-4 times a week and keeping a low carb diet, with no real results.

    ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

    Hi Mai Tai, welcome.

Pink, I hope you are relieved and as comfortable as possible. The other side is right, and it's good over here.

Hi to everyone. My classes are gearing down (some bad grades this time, I hate that.). The push to my little sale is gearing up.  Here are some pots from the last firing. Good weekend to all, especially Pink.

Okiegal, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I hope you had a great day! Smile

Mai Tai, Welcome to our group!

Carole, I don't know anyone else who gets an ultra sounds, but I think it's great. I still go to my OC every three months...she checks tumor markers. My next apt is in February.

Pink13, I'm thinking about you and hope surgery went well. (((HUGS)))

Upcreek, Glad you're feeling more like yourself! I'm sure you will be happy with your tattoos!

Fortunate1, Your work is so beautiful! You should have a web site...Good luck with your sale!

It is c-c-c-cold in NY!  We are expecting freezing rain tomorrow.  I'm almost done with my Christmas shopping and decorating. Next on my list is to wallpaper the main bathroom!

As I was writing this, at 10:30 PM, my son phoned me. He and his gf went to NYC tonight to see the Radio City Christmas Show.  Afterward, he proposed to his gf in front the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center!  He got on one knee... he said she started to cry. A police officer standing nearby saw what happened and said, "This is really nice. Let me take your picture"!...people applauded!  LOL Smile

I hope everyone is well and have a good day.

Meg:  That is so exciting!  Thanks for sharing.

Went to a play of the Christmas Carol last night.  There were about 20 in the cast.  The audience was all around the stage.  Nice way to get in the spirit of the Holidays.

Cold here too.  We do have snow though which is great.

Hi to everyone and take some time to relax during this busy time of year.

Meg, what a sweet and wonderful story about your son!  He and your future DIL already have a family story to tell their kids and grandkids.

DH and I went to a Christmas music concert tonight along with another couple.  It's an annual event at a large church with an outstanding choir.  The LSU chamber music orchestra and some other musicians provided accompaniment and there was also a guest soprano.  Afterwards we went to a restaurant for libations and food.

We're in for some freezing weather this week and I'm looking forward to several days with no appointments, events or obligations written on the calendar.  It feels good to have some unstructured time.

Upcreek, have you and your DH been cross-country skiing yet?  Has the lake waters frozen over for skating?

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

    Hi All,

    fortunate1 - Love your work!

Meg - Thx and congratulations. Very exciting and romantic of him.

Carole - I too have a mammo and US once a year. I understand I will be having them for the rest of my life. No markers routine here though.

I also have an US for my UT, once every six months, because of the tamoxy.

At last it is raining here. I envy your snow and winter. I love winter.

Hope you all have a great day!

Congratulations Meg9! What a lovely story. When's the wedding? And thanks for the birthday wishes. My dad's 80th birthday celebration was great and our family celebrated again yesterday for my dad and my sister and I. My mother cooked a roast and baked a coconut cake and a chocolate cake. All from scratch. Yes, we are spoiled! Laughing Now, it's back on program....again!

Fortunate1, your work is gorgeous! It's good to be productive. I hope you sell out!

Carole, it was supposed to get down to 10 degrees this morning, but when I got up it was 19. Very unusual for us. I would prefer California weather, I'm not crazy about the cold!

Hope everyone has a good day.

Meg! What a wonderful story. We're going to want pictures of the wedding.

okiegal, your birthday? Alot of birthdays. Congratulations on another year and a very good one to come.

You'd all be happy with our weather here... brilliant sun and high 70's. And, a very happy successful sale. I also had lots of visits from other potters. We are mourning the loss of a pottery star and extraordinary human being in our lives. Cancer. I hate cancer. Thank you for all your lovely comments about my work. I will post photos of the work of my friend and show you talent and soul. A genius who made pots.

Back soon. Hugs, very warm hugs.

Hi to all.  A friend just delivered a box filled with an assortment of home-baked cookies.  Just what I need to get these extra pounds off!  I was doing well until a couple of weeks ago.  The pre-Christmas season has been nice, not too hectic.  DH and I went to a neighborhood party yesterday afternoon.  How convenient to walk across our back yard to their back yard.

I haven't done a lot of shopping, but have done some.  We sent bookstore gift cards to the great nieces and nephews up in the midwest.  The grownups aren't getting a present.  They all have everything they need and a lot of what they want anyway.  I bought some books for the children in my family and also chipped in to help Santa Claus with gifts for my unemployed niece's three children.  DH and I have agreed not to buy presents for each other since we're shopping for a used truck camper to take to Alaska this summer.

    Hope everyone is having fun.

    Hello Everyone,

Carole, How exciting... trip to Alaska! Have you been there before?  DH attends an annual convention. The past few years it was held in AZ. Except last year it was in Chicago. The next one will be in Florida. We are thinking of driving to Washington DC and then taking the auto train to Fl. It's still in the planning stage, but I'm not sure I want to go.Undecided

I have been working overtime getting ready for Christmas. On Christmas Eve my sisters and one brother, my son's GF and her parents are coming for dinner. Tradition in my family is to serve seven different fish on Christmas Eve. GF and her parents do not eat fish so I will be making a roast also. Today I plan to do some baking. I have my mother's recipe for Stufoli (honey balls)... Something she made every Christmas. I will attempt to make them! Wish me luck!

Last week I turned 55! DH took the day off and we spent the day shopping and then went out for dinner. I am keeping to WW and lost 4.4 lbs. in two weeks! Okiegal had a delicious homemade cake for her birthday! DH bought me a red velvet cupcake! LOL

It has been freeeezing in NY. We are expecting an inch or two of snow on Christmas night. I hope everyone is well and enjoying the holiday season! Smile

Hi all! I'm finally finished with my Christmas shopping. It's not that I have so many gifts to buy, but that I'm indecisive about what I want to buy for this one or that one. Now it's on to the wrapping and other cooking and cleaning chores. Carole, your planned trip to Alaska sounds like a wonderful Christmas present. It leaves all of the work for a less busy time of year!

Meg9, seven types of fish? Is this a cultural tradition or one your family "cooked" up? Congradulations on your weight loss (impressive!) and a belated happy birthday. I haven't been doing so well on program since my birthday. I'll have to watch it or end up with a gain in the month of December. If I can hold steady, I'll be happy. Good luck with the Struffoli, I don't think I've every had that. Let us know  how they turn out. Our family will be enjoying homemade ravioli.

Hope everyone is having a good week.

Okiegal, Thanks for your birthday wishes! It is an Italian tradition to serve seven fish dishes on Christmas Eve (my mother's side). Some parts of Italy serve thirteen fish dinners! This is my menu:

Appetizers: Shrimp cocktail, Stuffed mushrooms, mozzarella with tomatoes and bruschetta

    Salad.

Stuffed Flounder, Salmon cooked with diced tomatoes, Cod cakes, crab cakes, Shrimp Scampi,

Clams baked on the half shell and lobster tails. Served with veggies and red roasted potatoes. I am also making a roast beef!

Desserts: Red velvet cake, assorted cheese cake, home baked cookies, cream puffs, assorted pastries, chocolate covered strawberries and a fruit platter for me! Wink

I better get busy! I hope you are all well and have a great day! Smile

Meg, with that menu you need a cook and several kitchen slaves!  A belated happy birthday.  Your age sounds young to me.  Big congratulations on your weight loss.  My weight has been been steadily going upward.  I come into the house hungry and reach for home-made cookies and other bakery treats that neighbors have brought.

Hello my friends, I have not forgotten you. I thought all would be calm and peaceful after the sale...but....instead, life has ramped things up. Dad is going in for surgery for a cancer on his tongue right after Christmas. It's a little more serious than we first thought, but the biggest peril is his age. DH & I will be his caregivers over Christmas. The next day I'll be having an MRI - for that same stupid little lump and the enlarged lymph nodes. My Onc is still not happy, and I am happy I have a worrier for my Onc. My son will have surgery later in January for a serious ear problem. And DH, heart surgery for a valve repair, but it has been decided that spring is soon enough. I think that's enough for now, don't you? Why not get a lot of the worrying done at the same time!

I think I'd like to teleport myself and DH to your house, Meg, for the fish extravaganza! After dinner I'll visit all of you. My cooking has been .... cookies a-plenty, apple pie, two flans, onions in cheese sauce again, DH will make tamale pie, and, best of all, three rhubarb pies for Dad's freezer. He loves rhubarb pie and I scoured the city to find it. Finally Whole Foods, a very fancy grocery, came through, living up to it's nickname of "whole paycheck" with rhubarb from Chile! Christmas will bring ham dinner at my brother and sister-in-law's house with lots of amazing side dishes. I will do my best to stay slim! I have single-handedly eaten all the chocolate in the house.

I'm rambling, but I wanted to catch up a little with you all, friends who'll understand my hit and run post. A VERY MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL! Plus hugs of course.

One of my daughter's professor just died of breast cancer.  She was 47.  May she rest in peace.

On a happier note, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone.

Thank you for your birthday wishes!

Upcreek, My mother's family is from Sicily. Every Christmas Eve our house was filled with all our family. We would have our Christmas Eve meal of seven fish dishes and wait until midnight to open our gifts....even the little ones stayed up! For some reason staying up late waiting for our gifts was easy! On Christmas morning there was one additional gift under the tree.

Carole, My sister should be arriving soon to help with the cooking! I have everything already prepared...I was up early this morning! I lost another .5 of a pound this week! I think I might gain it all back in the next couple of days!

Fortunate1, I missed you and was hoping everything was OK.  Sorry to hear about your dad. I hope he, DH and your son will be fine. I think you have a great OC and I'm glad you are being checked. I will remember all of you in my prayers and light a candle at church tomorrow. I love your picture!

I wish all of you who celebrate A Very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to All!  I wish I could transport you all to my house!

    Hi all,

    Happy holidays to you all.

I think we all had enough worries this couple of years, and I'm praying for all of us (families and loved ones) to be healthy.

The happiness is easier to reach.
