Age 46 and in Chemo pause. My OBGYN said I would probably be 60 when I sent through regular menopause so it may still come back, But I've come to the mental place where I hope it doesn't I'm done with my monthly friend. It's so nice to skip that aisle in the drug store:)
I slept 10 hours last night!!! I guess I needed it. First time I've slept that long in forever!

Alicia-Sending you love and lots of hugs and prayers today as you undergo your surgery. You will be ready for the centerfold shoots in no time
Saski-Thanks for the tip on taking Calcium and Vit. D. I will try that also and see if it helps.
Good luck to all of you facing a treatment today of some sort. Hang in there and know you are loved!
I feel like hell today! I had my D & C last month, and my body is trying really hard to have a peroid this month and it is just not coming. I have horrible cramps, I am sooo tired, my back hurts and my boobs are melons. I wish it would just start already (never thought I would want it so bad!). I think it is trying to come today, I had a little bit of a show this morning.
That is my rant for the day Thank God I have you ladies to gripe and complain to. God knows my DH hears enough of it for a lifetime!
Hugs

Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you that I finally found a glove to wear! I am taking back the gauntlet glove to the medical supply store and getting a full glove with just the finger tips exposed. I went yesterday and got fitted. I am excited to get it and get my hand feeling better!
0 -
Jen -- Hugs!!!! And woo hoo on the glove

Jen,
It just makes sense to include the fingers in the compression... glad you found the right item. Now when you get all the rhinestone studs applied you will be ready for anything!
One good thing about getting older... no more menstrual cramps! Can you imagine... I have almost forgotten how bad and miserable they were. Why do we women have to suffer these things... cramps, pregnancy, childbirth! Guess that is what makes us the stronger sex.
Wishing good things for everyone today.

Thanks for all the answers about fertility/periods.
I guess we are all chemo-paused! I'm only 33 so I hope my periods will come back.
I have heard that there is a test (the FHS test?) that can be done to see if the ovaries are still working and if you're menopaused or not.
I'm thinking about asking my oncologist to do it. Has anyone done it? has anyone heard of it ?

Marion if I were you I'd just wait and see... you are so young you will most likely resume menstruation...
Cheers,
Lilah

I saw my onc the other week and when I mentioned that I was waiting for my period, she said I know...I said what, how do you know? And she said she could tell from my blood work, which I had two days before...Not sure if it is the same test you talk about.

Hello micheleboots,
It is a blood test so it must be what your oncologist was refering to. So you did not have to ask for it ? Your onc just did the test?
0 -
Marion,
I think a blood test can measure estradiol levels which is probably what you want to know.
So sorry you are going through this at such a young age. BC is not fair!

Hi Ladies!
Happy St. Patty's Day to ya! Hope you all are having a fantastic day. It is sunny and in the 60's here in the Chicago area, and I am loving it! Just not thinking about this weekend when it will turn cold and rain and sleet.
But, anyway. Just popping in to say hello to my lovely ladies. Nothing really new to stew about today. Just saw my PT and we both agree the glove I got yesterday is not the right amount of compression. So I need to bring my DH into her to have her show him how to wrap me. Stupid LE!!
Hugs

Jen,
Is St. Patrick's Day big in Chicago? Savannah is the place to be if you are in the south. All that Tara - GWTW - Scarlett stuff about their Irish roots was kind of true. Just LOVE Savannah... lots of history and great restaurants. Charleston is fabulous too, especially if you like old antebellum mansions. The walking tour is great. Wonderful shopping too. Closer to home... St Augustine is FULL of history, absolutely wonderful restaurants, great B&Bs on the bay... totally a walking town so you can do everything on foot or on the tourist trolleys. Not totally Disneyized like Orlando... not that there's anything wrong with that Enough travelogue.
Has anyone heard from Magob? I am hoping she is just getting on with life and busy.
Thinking of everyone today.

St Pats day is HUGE in Chicago. Do they still dye the river green? Lived there for years back in the 80's. We would all dye our hair green with Lime Kool-aid and smell like pie all day long. Tons of Irish folks there. Everyone have a great St. Patrick's Day.

OH.... I forgot all about Ferris Bueller's Day Off.... wasn't that St. Patty's? Or some other holiday... I remember them singing Danke Schein. Not so Irish.

Pam-Yes St. Patricks Day is HUGE here! Green beer and all!!! So many people out today with green on and having a great time! I am in a town called Batavia and there is a little place called O'Briens that is within walking distance. So, we spent a little time there this afternoon soaking in the sunshine:)
Alicia- So happy for you that things went well and that you have your Sham Rocks!!!

Jen glad you are having a great afternoon and enjoying the sunshine. It's been another cold, grey day here. I have been busy here washing clothes all day and dishes trying to get somethings ready to get packed up to leave on our trip to Bristol, TN in the morning (for the race this weekend).
Happy St. Patty's Day everyone!

It sounds like spring is about to hit and we are all going to be having fun and not spending so much time inside huddled around a warm computer. Hooray for spring!

Hi all,
I haven't been on this board in awhile, mainly posting on March RADS.
Pam - I'm not from Chicago, but I have been there on St. Patricks Day. It is a BIG deal there, they even die the river green!
We've been having lovely spring weather in NJ, which has definitely helped the daily trip to RADS. I've completed 13 of 21, only 3 regular/5 boosts remaining. I can almost see the 'normal life' at the end of the tunnel. I don't have to see the breast surgeon for six months. I do have to see the med. oncologist to determine which hormone treatment she'll prescribe. I'm hoping for something that's not too stressful on my already creaky knees.
I ran into a co-worker at the treatment center today. I knew about his cancer, but I don't think he knew about mine. He's had a rough go of it since his initial diagnosis (tumor on the brain). I was glad to see him today, he seems to be managing well.
I hope everyone has a good week.

I finished my 19 of 25 rads today..I decided to have some fun with my rads techs..I got a body tattoo of a big shamrock and put it on my non-rads breast...so when they took down my robe they would see it...it made them laugh....it gave them something different to look at.

Gives a new meaning to Shamwowed! It's so good to be able to find some humor in the midst of all this cancer stuff. What great girls you all are.
