M360 I am adding you to my prayer list and sending you a big hug now!!!

Abby I agree, I healed quickly after rads and like Michelle I only have somewhat of a "funky" tan and it isn't even that noticeable with clothes on.

Still rainy, hot and humid here in Bama!!!

M360, sending prayers your way for strength and healing.  (((M360)))

I too have a square tan.  At least it is not noticeable - even with a bathing suit!

Does this mean we are all 'living life to the fullest?" Or just being lazy... or nothing interesting to say... or nothing bad to report (yah!)... or having on-line problems (boo)... or have a houseful of summer visitors (yah-ugh)... or busy working in the garden (that's me)... or mired in the summer doldrums (ho-hum)....

    what's up?

I have added swimming to my exercise program. Walk 2 3/4 miles every day, swim 30 minutes 3 x week. Wow, has it helped the flexibility in my arm (pit) on operated side. Much less tight! I did stretches but this has really made a difference. Also, it is tightening up those lovely saggy muscles in my back! I'm not a good swimmer, just breast stroke from side to side of the pool. Actually, swimming is ok... just can't do the breathing part well so side to side works as I can hold my breath that far :-) Of course my hair is a sight... between humidity and swimming I look like Harpo Marx :-(  Just a toned up, more flexible version of him.

Well I'm not so sure I fall into the "living life to the fullest" category just yet but I have started walking my dog every day. He seems to like it and it gets me out of the house for exercise. I'm still pretty tired but am on the mend and will be returning to work in September. Take care everyone!

Hi ladies! I have been trying to "live life to the fullest" but not sure how successful I have been. The other day I went to a TaeKwonDo class and ended up staying and doing the next one, and I am so sore! Then last night took my dogs for a walk, or maybe I should say they took me for a walk. I need Cesar Milan at my house BAD!!

Pam- I am happy for you at all the excercising you are doing and that it has helped your arm. Swimming is a great way to get in shape with out so much stress on your joints. If I knew how to swim better, I would love to take that up.

Well, it was good to hear from a couple of you. I hope you are all just too busy enjoying good things to be on here! Love you all

Hi Ladies!  I don't know about living life to the fullest but I have certainly been working my back side off!  Pretty much been at work 50-60 hours a week and so tired by the time I get home and fix dinner I'm to exhausted to do much else.  Throw in that I was up for 26 hrs straight with no sleep due to pulling my regular shift at work leaving at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening and then had to go back in at 10:00 p.m due to a call off and work till 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning and got home and went to bed this past weekend, and you can say I was one tired puppy.

Pam glad you and Jen are finding time in your busy lives to enjoy it.

Maybe when I was younger... but could not work a double shift now, Renee! How could you even think straight? Bless your heart! I hope you got to spend the weekend in bed.

Hope everyone has a great time this weekend and are able to enjoy your time off! We were supposed to have family come out for the 4th of July weekend, but due to unforseen circumstances they had to cancel on us :( So, we will just enjoy eachothers company and spend time with some friends.

Oooooh, I miss my girls!  Hello to every sweet one of you.  I just got home from the hospital - been there since yesterday morning starting at 5:30 am.  My sis had a BMX with reconstruction.  She was in surgery for about 8 hours, and so far she looks good.  This was preventative, and it does not look like there was any cancer to be found.  That will be official when the pathology report is available.  Stayed the night with her - some of you can probably relate - she was in a lot of pain.  This morning the docs got her started with a good pain program, so she is resting comfortably and I'm home for a shower and of course, a chat with all of you.

I hate that my sis is hurting so bad and there wasn't even any cancer, but her chances were high for getting it at some point.  I'm glad she did it and that she won't have to endure what we're going through.  She's fighting cancer, and got to throw the first punch.  Here's to my sis!!!

And I also thought I'd share the reaction to her choice: some people are really critical and have told her their opinion about what they think she should do.  Nice, huh?  They do not know what they're talking about.  Sad thing is it made her insecure just a little, and WHO NEEDS THAT during the fight against cancer???!!!   So I'm sharing with my people who know - that's you ladies. Oh, what we wouldn't have given to be able to do what she's doing!

Michele and Mary Louise - glad to hear you are enjoying some rest and relaxation.  Please tell us about the fun stuff you're doing.

Jen - glad to hear you're doing well.  Good luck on July 7.

M360 - It's so good to hear from you!  Hang in there, friend.  Yes, you've got complications.  But the human body and especially the spirit are amazing things.  You will be amazed at what you can do.  We're praying for you.  Please write soon.

Abby - you are getting close to the end of the treatments - GO, GIRL!

Pam, glad you are swimming.  It seems that it works just about every muscle in the body, even your face and hands and toes.  And it is gentle.  Good going - keep up the good work.

And Sugar, you're doing well, too.  Glad to hear you're walking.  It's good, isn't it - getting out there to smell the breeze and look and everyones yards and flowers.

And Alicia, I hear you about the neglected chores during chemo.  I've started going through stacks of junk mail and stuff I didn't bother to file during tx.  Oh, bother.  But it will be so nice once it's done.

Love to all of you.  Happy Canada Day to our friends in the north.  Please blow the Queen a kiss for us.  And Happy Fourth of July to the USA ladies.  Remember:  Whiskey and firecrackers don't mix.  Be careful out there and if you get in trouble, write and tell us all about it.

So much love to you - so much.  Gosh, I hope we all get to meet some day.  XO, Mary

Hope everyone has a great 4th of July!  Enjoy your time with your family and friends or just lying around at the beach or lake on the boat.  No matter what you do remember our military and the ones that have fought and died for our freedom... and that freedom doesn't come without a price tag.

M360, you have more going than anyone I have ever heard of.  Prayers going out your way.  Hope things start settling down for you and you get to continue treatment.  My treatments lasted about 4 to 5 hours.

Mary, sorry that your sister had to go through this, but I am sure this is much better than chemo and radiation.  I hope all goes well for her.  She is lucky to have a great sis like you.  And people should keep their opinions to themselves.  They have no idea.

jojo, I am like you,  I have been so busy I haven't had time to read and write.  I have been trying to keep up, but it is not easy.

Abby, so glad you are through.  The skin issues will heal quckly and you will be living life like the rest of us.

Pam you have a great 4th, don't overdo the sun.

Renee,  thank you for the reminder of what the 4th is all about.  I think we have plenty of people in this country, that do not appreciate how we have managed to stay free all these years.

I went to the Rad Onc and the Med Onc on Thursday and all is well.  No more tests at this time and I don't have to see the Rad Onc for a year and the Med Onc on a 3 month schedule.  I have a mammo in August.  Life is good.

I have been camping with my grandkids this weekend. We really had a good time.  It rained almost the whole time.  Thank goodness for RVs, video games and kitchen utensils.

I hope everyone has a great 4th.  Be careful.

    Love you all,

Good morning ladies. I have to ask a question? Have any of you so far this summer gotten a sunburn since finishing radiation? I was a little careless this weekend and got a little too much sun. I wore sunblock, but I was a a pool yesterday and it must have come right off. Now I am so burnt, and very sore. My scar from surgery is visible with my swimsuit on, and it is bright pink. Do any of you think I should worry? I feel bad for getting such a bad sunburn, when I know I shouldn't even be out in the sun. I know if I had an appointment with my rad onc, I would get into big trouble for all the sun I got over the weekend.

    Hugs

So sorry for the new worry when you were just having a little fun ;-(

All I know is I was told to avoid sunburn but no reason why. I suspect it is just that the skin is more likely to burn.

I think aloe works well for sunburn and also for radiation skin.

Hope you had a fun 4th, Jen.  Love your family avatar.

Sorry, had to cut that post short, I am at work and someone came in, the nerve! :)

So, out of caution, I called my rad oncs office and spoke with his nurse, she told me to just baby that area and keep moisturizer on it. I guess the skin is more sensitive post radiation and the sunburn can be worse than a regular sunburn on non radiated skin. It bothers me that, like you said, I just had a little fun this weekend and now I am freaking out.

Mary- Thank you for the well wishes on tomorrow's mammo. I am praying for good results on that. I am sort of anxious, but trying not to worry too much.

Abby- Congrats on being done with radiation!!! WAHOO for you!!

M360- Prayers and big hugs to you. Keep fighting, we are right here with you.

Hugs to you all, have a wonderful day!

Jen - good luck on tomorrow's mammogram. I'm glad to hear you called the radiation onc's office and all is good except that you just need to baby the area!

I hope everyone is doing well on this hot sunny day!

Jen I am glad all is well with your sunburn. My rad onc actually said I could go to the tanning bed just to be careful and baby the breast that got radiation and keep it well protected.  Wink  Of course I guess I have been a little chicken and haven't done that yet.  But I really think I'm going to go ahead and buy a package and start low and go slow as they say so I don't get a sunburn.  I'm as white as a ghost, especially on my legs and they may burn easily.  Also, good luck with your mammogram!

    Renee,

Glad to know you will be solving the budget crisis by paying the new tanning tax :-)   Seems like a drop in the bucket. Does tanning like that do anything for your Vitamin E levels? If so, that would be a good thing.

    Hi ladies,

Well, mammo and ultra-sound are done for today. The radiologist came in and said they didn't see anything bad, just a new cyst in the left breast that wasn't there before. I am due for an MRI and another ultra-sound in September, so they will look at it closer at that time. So, I guess nothing to worry about for now. I asked the nurse navigator if I should be worried that they found a new cyst in my breast, and she said no, that at my age that is common. So, I guess it is all good. Thank you for the well wishes and prayers.

Hope you all are having a good day!
