    Gosh I love this thread!

Today is the First Friday of the month...notable in that we can venerate the Sacred Heart of Jesus...so here is a wonderful prayer for the day:

Act of Consecration to the Sacred heart of Jesus

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I consecrate myself to Your Most Sacred Heart. Take possession of my whole being; transform me into Yourself. Make my hands Your hands, my feet Your feet, my heart Your heart. Let me see with Your eyes, listen with Your ears, speak with Your lips, love with Your heart, understand with Your mind, serve with Your will, and be dedicated with my whole being. Make me Your other self. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, send me Your Holy Spirit to teach me to love You and to live through You, with You, in You and for You.

Come, Holy Spirit, make my body Your temple. Come, and abide with me forever. Give me the deepest love for the Sacred Heart of Jesus in order to serve Him with my whole heart, soul, mind and strength. Take possession of all my faculties of body and soul. Regulate all my passions: feelings and emotions. Take possession of my intellect, understanding and will; my memory and imagination. O Holy Spirit of Love, give me an abundance of Your efficacious graces. Give me the fullness of all the virtues; enrich my faith, strengthen my hope, increase my trust, and inflame my love. Give me the fullness of Your sevenfold gifts, fruits and beatitudes. Most Holy Trinity, make my soul Your sanctuary.

And through the intecession of St. Peregrine, St. Agatha and St. Dymphna, I pray for all my sisters here on BCO and their intentions...

    Amen

I'm so blessed!  Enjoying time with a friend who has come in from Michigan and we've had fun talking about Catholic grade school and high school and comparing nun habits!  LOL!  not their personal habits - their outfits.  And daily mass at school and chaplets and scapulars!  Lenten meals and other fun memories!  It has been delightful.

Sending up prayers for all here for rest and most of all peace.

Hi Amy!  Yes, comparing notes like that is interesting. I only went to parochial school for four years, but they were the FIRST four years. I think that set me up for learning and making the most of the rest of my education.

    Good Morning All!

Today is the first Saturday of the month....and in praise of the Blessed Mother I offer up the Lourdes Hymn Immaculate Mary:

    Immaculate Mary,

    Thy praises we sing,

    Who reignest in splendor

    with Jesus, Our King!

    Chorus

    Ave, Ave, Ave Maria!

    Ave, Ave Maria!

    Thy name is our power,

    thy virtues our light,

Thy love is our comfort, thy pleading our might.

    Ave, Ave, Ave Maria!

    Ave, Ave Maria!

Through the intercessions of St. Peregrine and St. Agatha I pray for the intentions of my BCO friends and family.

    Amen

    God Bless!

Mass this morning was lovely. My favorite priest had a thoughtful sermon (as always), and my brother and his family surprised me as they sat down next to me. All was dedicated to you ladies here at bc.org

Glad you enjoyed the  hymn LMF!!

A short reflection from Evening Prayer today.."Every affliction is a form of human impoverishment. Christ, who became poor that we might become rich, may enrich the afflicted by removing the affliction or...by strengthening the gift of faith that allows us to find Christ himself, our greatest treasure, through our suffering.....Whether He provides cure or comfort, He is at work for our salvation in every deprivation of body or spirit."

This is so true for me....I have found myslf so much closer to Him since my DX, and am so grateful for this!  The cancer was worth it...I can hardly believe I could say that, but it is true!  I have never felt alone during this whole process.  Even when I felt too sick to pray, I still felt His presence.  He never left my side....He brought me closer to Him.

Through the intercession of St. Peregrine and St. Agatha I pray for my BCO sisters and their intentions. Amen

    God Bless!

I have not posted for awhile. I work as an associate teacher with autistic children. So just getting back into the swing of working is difficult.

I pray that everyone is doing good.

I really enjoyed the readings at Mass this Sunday. Next week we start CCD.

    God Bless you.

HI ladies, can't believe it took me so long to get to this thread.  And don't I have a lot of nerve!  I need some exta prayers to get me thru my final mamo an MRI as well as other pre-op diagnostics in prep for my (god willing) prophylactic bilateral mastectomy w/ immed recon schedued for 9/22 in New Orleans.  I am honestly more nervous about the preop testing than the surgery.

I chatted w/ my priest yestrday and he will be annointing me sunday 9/20.  I'll leave for the airport from mass.  This has been such a spiritual journey for me.  I defnitely am stronger in my faith yet I know the annointing will help give me grace to face this big surgery and recovery and help restore my soul and spirit!

I also begin CatholicBible Study thru Unv of Dallas next weekend.  I'm very much looking forward to that...it is  4 yr program, every thurs night taught by biblical/literary scholar.

You're all in my prayers, we have this common thread and don't know what I' do w/o the support I get from the women on thes boards.

    xoxo,

    jennifer

    Hi Jennifer...glad you found us!!

We have been doing the Novena to St. Peregrine and St. Agatha for all our sisters here, so I will add your intentions to my prayers immediately. The waiting for surgery is really difficult...but the anointings really do send blessings...it sounds like you put together a great plan to get that before the airport!

I am jealous of your upcoming Bible Study course!  Last night 2 dear friends who are priests came for dinner and they left me with a tape series of Scott Hahn and Jeff Cavins called "Our Father's Plan...A Catholic Bible Study of Salvation History".  I will have to find some self discipline to listen to them. I always liked learning in a classroom environment because you can learn from so many other's faith and perspectives...but for now, the tapes will have to do!

    Good luck with your pre-tests...

    God Bless!

Ladies,  I attended Mass with my friend Sunday and though it is so much different from when I used to go with My Grandma, (when it was in Latin), it was lovely.  The most special thing that has haunted me since is the most lovely melody that was played during Communion.  I researched the composer and found a recording on the net.  The song is called Come To Me and is written by Michael Joncas.  (A Catholic Priest) You can Google it and listen to the entire song on Rhapsody, but I downloaded it from Amazon, because it was easier.

I must say that the little speakers on the computer don't do it justice, but if you have headphones... put them on and I think you will agree to the lovely harmonies.  I will be anxious to hear if anyone elseis a moved as I was. (I am a long time choral singer, so it was dear to my heart)

Carol...this tune is a favorite in many parishes today! Michael Joncas is a wonderful liturgical song writer....but I had never thought to down load ....need to look into that!  Thanks for that idea!

If you liked him, look for Marty Haugen he is terrific, too and there is a female whose name is alluding me.  When I get to Church I will  look her up.  Many great prayers and psalms put to music that transcends since the change  from the Latin vernacular  Liturgies.  Glad to hear you enjoyed it!

    God Bless!
