Dear Jesus, As I call on you today, I realize that I often come asking for favors. Today I would like to just be in your presence. Let my heart respond to your love.

As a deer longs for flowing streams, so my soullongs for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for living God.
Be still and know that I am God. Lord, Your words lead us to the calmness and greatness of your presence.
Many countries are at this moment suffering the agonies of war. I pray for all.

mnmom-----you are no burden to anyone.----------If you reread the thread header up above written by Laura Estepp, this is a place for all beliefs. For us to care for each other. Do not think you burden us. Rather think that we are made joyful by your belief that we are of comfort to you. Stay with us sweet one . You are always welcome and our only hope is that you and the Kids our safe. Don't apologize for anything. You are part of us. Love & hugs and prayers---L&H&P's Sheila

This thread is filled with wonderful people!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Each day presents it's challenges & joys for all of us in different ways, I have felt like a part of this thread for quite a while. My life is more at peace after I visit the prayer threads. I want to grow in my faith & know that this is an active loving faith filled thread.
((SAS)) I am doing everything I can to keep my 3 kids are safe. Really you are an angel here
I would like to just thank you all again for the kind welcome, personal stories & prayer & thoughts that you have shared with me. I posted about not being Catholic cause I am worried I could post something offensive ? like do you say 'God bless you.' ?? If not may I ask why...that kind of stuff....anyhow I do not know or understand all the phrasing so please be patient with me. I know that you have been down this road too before & am trying to re read all 236 pages + links to teach myself ... however I do not retain info like I used to before bc but will try.

mnmom - I don't think you will offend any of us. Most of us are mothers and have kids that have said worse things and we still love them! LOL Please stay and join in the fun!
Yes, indeed, we say "God bless you!!" Catholics are the first Christians and have followed the faith in Christ passed down from the apostles since St. Peter. Our line of apostolic priests is unbroken for over 2000 years. But anyone of any faith is more than welcome to come here for respite and share. Catholics do not have the corner on God's love. God loves ALL the souls he created and He created every single soul.
We had a wonderful, wonderful SFO meeting today!! I just LOVE my lessons and wish they would last more than an hour. It feels so good to sit with a group of men and women who share the same faith in God and Franciscan charism. There's no shame to admit, I LOVE GOD! We can talk about our faith and our failings and we all understand. Sheila, I did share my dream story with my teachers. They all three said it reminded them of the Gospel passage about Jesus and the swine. I didn't remember it, so one of them looked it up. It's Matthew 8:28.
28 When he came to the other side, to the territory of the Gadarenes, two demoniacs who were coming from the tombs met him. They were so savage that no one could travel by that road.
29 They cried out, "What have you to do with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the appointed time?"
30 Some distance away a herd of many swine was feeding.
31 The demons pleaded with him, "If you drive us out, send us into the herd of swine."
32 And he said to them, "Go then!" They came out and entered the swine, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea where they drowned. It's so important to pray for each other. To pray for our enemies and those whose souls are in distress.
One of my teachers related a story told to her to by a friend who was driving to work and there was an accident up ahead, so of course, the traffic backed up and everyone would be late to work. She remembered thinking, "What a bother, I'm going to be late!" Then she decided to take out her rosary and pray for the people in the accident. A few months later, a woman came to her door with a flower, saying the flower was for her. She asked why, having never met this woman. The woman said that she was the one in the accident that day. She was dying and felt her soul leave her body. All she could sense was anger toward her from all the people in the cars trapped in the traffic. She came upon her car, the only car where she felt a sense of love and peace for her. She didn't die... but remembered the rosary woman, her face, her car, her license, and searched until she found her to say thank you. You just never know whose soul you'll be saving when you pray for them.
Have a wonderful weekend!

My Super Catholic sister came to town with Blessed St. Peregrine Oil, her book of prayers a scapula full of medals and a list of people in Omaha who were praying for me.
Had a wonderful weekend with visiting family and my favorite priest finally came out to Bless our House and have dinner.
Life is good. I am back on a couple schedules for organ playing and my Saturday church prays at every Mass for my recovery. I'd go downtown in a second if I had transportation and I think my 2nd son who is learning to drive is just the ticket.. He is at a camp right now.
Prayers for all.

Apple - that sounds wonderful!!
Kay - I miss the Jersey Shore! I'm going to try to talk Skip into a little vacation after school starts and the shore crowds lessen.
Sheila - thanks for the heads up on the Hot Flash forum!
Ok, so I'm taking a huge leap of faith here. My SFO teachers were talking about teaching CCD (religion classes) over the years and I said I had always thought about doing it, but feel too "stupid" to teach ... what if they ask me a question that I don't know?!! They all jumped on me and said to not be afraid of that and that I'd make a good teacher. Soooo, our bulletin last week was asking for CCD teachers this fall for 1st or 3rd graders. I know the fella who organizes it for our Church, so I asked him after Mass if he still needed a 3rd grade teacher. His eyes lit up and said "Yes! Are you interested??" I said my daughter and I were thinking about co-teaching. I told him I'd email him. Ohhhh!!!!!!! I hope I can help those little ones find the Lord and maybe even bring Him home to their families. I'll be praying very hard for help from the Holy Spirit!!

Theresa I think you would do a wonderful job with the children... teach from the heart and they will follow!

Hi All-
Catching up, my biopsy was delayed until first week of August (will give details later) Husband still struggling, I am letting God handle this problem but hope you will pray for our family we are in need of uplifting.
Theresa I love that story and will continue to pray for all, I am so excited for you and your CCD opportunity it sounds right up your alley.
The sermon yesterday was about nurturing our soil and working it so we can receive God's word and have a bountiful harvest. Praying, listening, and being with our Lord is all we need to have a more fertile soil so God can work within us. It was beautiful>
Welcome MNMOM!!!

Need you my sisters. I have summers off from work. Although I am trying to get to the gym to do cardio, it is such a fight to to it. I am staying up really late and sleeping really late. 100 degree weather and the AC is struggling. Feel fat and lazy. Can't get motivated. Praying to Jesus and Mary. Thanks for listening, and BTW don't tell anyone I feel this way, I put up a good front for others! xo

Our sermon Sunday was beautiful as well. The young Father Eric stood in the isle with an umbrella open and asked how you can feel God's grace raining down on you, if you keep opening the umbrella every time life rains on you......As the song Blessings by Laura Story says:
"Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops?
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You're near?
What if trials of this life
Are Your mercies in disguise..."0 -
Lovemyfamily... I understand! It is hard. I pray you get a fire lit under you you know what.... God can light it if it is for the right reasons~
I used to work out all the time...
I realize.. after I still got cancer...... I was working my body so I could wear a size 0.... to look good............ NOT really for my health and " healthy weight"
So. I had to pray the opposite... that I never go back to that. It worked... now I work out for health.... and I am not a size 0 anymore...... I am the size I should be.... with eating my normal healthy diet.... having some wine if I want it.. ( or margaritas..lol... whatever)... and walking for my health. using weights for strength..... and some cardio for weight control. I can do this in about 45 min.... 4 days a week. YOU CAN TOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Girl.......... If I lived by you... I would ask you to be my work out buddy ! I HATE HATE HATE mornings too..........and I do not work out too many mornings anymore... CAUSE I HATE MORNINGS........ so............. here again... I am not killing myself for looks ( doing crap I HATE)
So..I work out when it is best for me now................ not what someone TOLD my was " good for me"
LOL
Cancer can teach you a LOT !!!!!!!!!!!0 -
Hi everyone! That is wonderful Apple! Sagina, your posts are always uplifting. Thanks for posting. MMM5 thanks for the post of your sermon too. I always like to hear what other priests have said about the Gospel in their homily. There was a great homily at the mass I was at down the shore too, but my chemo brain can't remember it.
Great advice Estepp, thanks.
Theresa, I love the Jersey shore. It's my favorite place on earth. Hope you get to go soon.
Contnued prayers for everyone. God Bless!

Hello everyone and bless us all.
Theresa wellIdon't know if the third graders, will get you, but we do.
I have learned more CCD things from you then in 12 years of Catholic education, But it's like the kid that sat at the back of the room that need glasses. I've had a hearing loss since who knows. It was picked up in a school screening when I was about 6th grade. So, who knows what I missed in the mean time. Always tried to sit near the front, of course that's where the goodie two shoes wanted to sit LOL.
Would suggest asking a third grade teacher what to expect from 3rd graders. Multiple teachers in the family. There are many common things to each grade level. It's very interesting to listen to teachers talk about different grades. Then they start with the funny stories -------then they're off and running. These conversations should be listened to with any empty bladder. Sorry diverged. A third grade teacher would be helpful
Reminds me of teaching CCD to first graders in 1963 as an eighth grader. _I was frustrated until the first grade teacher told me, that they couldn't read yet------DUH
Kay that was the homily on where the seeds fell in the soil. I remember it now. It was nicely explained. I never got it before.
Namaste sheila

Gina - I love it when priest's homilies really hit the mark. Visuals work for me. :-) That was good.
Sheila - great advice! My sister in law teaches 3rd graders, I believe. I'm going to ask her. Thanks for the encouragement. I was poorly catechised as a young one and am spending my latter adult years catching up. When I teach, I learn, so THANK YOU ALL for helping along my journey!
Now, Miss Ellie - you ring a bell with me! I have been gaining weight b/c of my sedentary job and long commute and made the excuse that I didn't have time, Tamoxifen makes my joints/muscles hurt, Tamoxifen and menopause is causing the weight gain and I *can't* lose weight! Well, I got mad at myself after several doctors told me to lose weight. And I read several posts about women successfully losing weight while on Tamox and one woman put it like this -- chemotherapy broke down our muscles and it took her 6 months to build them back up and begin to lose weight! Six months!!! I wasn't giving myself enough time. I was too impatient for quick results! Plus, when I was really honest with myself, I wasn't trying hard enough. So, I bit the bullet and joined Weight Watcher online and track my weight, food intake, and exercise every day. It's really not a burden for me since I sit at a desk all day, and it's very eye opening. You can do it for free on livestrong.com, whatever works. Becky is helping me by going to their website and pulling down healthy meal ideas for dinner. So I portion everything I eat but I do not begrudge myself tasty treats. And I've been putting in exercise just about every day. Laura is right ... you have to do it for health reasons. And I look at it as my obligation to the Lord. He gave me this body as a gift (flaws and all!!) and it's up to me to keep it fit to the best of my ability and not to excess. We are all the temples of the Holy Spirit. I've lost 10 pounds so far, but only a half inch off my waist. I'm guessing that's going to be the toughest and last place to lose weight. I also check in at the Motivation thread... they are an upbeat group of ladies and keep me going. It helps to have others for inspiration. Good luck -- we're here for you!
We're supposed to have a break in the heat wave today/tomorrow!!! Yea!!!!!!

Kay-----for some reason I have been blocked from sending email. Didn't want to loose this . I hop that was okay?
that is so hard on your brother wife and kids. have they discussed hospice yet. He still can receive palliative chemo. If we had known this before with Greg, we would have entered him months earlier. You may want to have your DH talk with their coordinator to get all the facts.
They then work more diligently towards pain control and she can get more assistance in his care. Those last few months can zap everyone strength. I had to be caretaker rather than wife. I think that is one of the things I'm still having trouble with, is we never had time to just love each other. I so, wish I'd stepped out of the role as nurse, by getting more help.
I hate to talk practical things, but I did a thread call "just get- prepared" on the just dx'd forum and it has practical things on it. After you read it you can gently review with your sil. How prepared she is. Banking, will etc. There is aslo a thread called
http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/8/topic/770023?page=1
"A place to talk of death and dying issues." Can't get the link to work , but the page is right.
Thank you again for your prayers. I will be thinking of you on the 17th. as well. Namaste we will talk before then L&H&P's sheila
