I have a St. Peregrine statuete in my office at work with his prayer on the box. I was even blessed to have some oil originating from his feast-place (??) on me when I had my surgery. Thank you for posting! It always helps to see other faithful Catholics (& Christians) sharing what has helped them through their journey.

Paula - prayers for you. I hope everything went well.
Maria - prayers for you. I hope you're recovering nicely.
Welcome Biologybrain!
Little Liam was tested for allergies today ... poor little nugget ... they did the pricks on his back instead of his arm, so he's going to be sore. He's allergic to dogs (Lucy!!), cats and dust mites. I have a feeling he'll be doing shots in a couple of months, like me and my mother and my cousins... But they're going to try preventive things first.
Very bad storms rolled through yesterday. There was an overturned truck on a bridge on our route home which blocked both lanes... yes, memories of praying for those in the accident came to my mind! We turned around and tried to make the best of it by having a seafood dinner! All in all, we had a 3.5 hour commute home. We need jobs closer to home. Or a home closer to work. This 70 mile commute is wearing very thin. But the weather today is perfect!!!
God bless you all.

Laura - that's a great idea and inspiration!!! I remember being so depressed that my hair was coming in so slowly. Did yours come in curly? It looks pretty straight now. I've had several cuts in the last 6-ish months and still have a wave. I need another trim. I'm missing the curls, actually ... little morning maintenance!

My hair came back ....just as it fell out.....no grey....dark.....and natural wave/curl. I blow it out straight some days.....others I tweak the natural with and iron....depends on my mood.

I just got home from picking up my brain MRI report and our DD. The report said "no intracranial tumor" but "cannot exclude a small aneurysm in the right region". They recommend MR Angiogram to further assess. Otherwise the brain MRI was unremarkable. I haven't spoken with my onc yet.
My head felt like jello today, I almost always feel this way whenever they inject dye in me. Or it could most likely be my stress and I wasn't able to sleep last night.
Thank you for your prayers and good thoughts. I will let you all know further once I hear anything.
Sas I sent you a PM.
Laura, Theresa, Sagina, LMFSM, Sheila, Traci, Sandy - special thank yous.
Biologybrain, lisa645 and MnMom - welcome to this group.

Special prayers for you Diamond Girl. I agree, your hair is beautiful Laura!! Mine is about the shortest buzz cut you can get right now, but given that I'm not quite done chemo yet, I'm surprised to have any at all and pretty happy about it.

Today is the Feast Day of St. Bonaventure, one of our dear Franciscan Fathers
He was born at Bagnoregio in Etruria in about 1218. He became a Franciscan in 1243 and studied philosophy and theology at the University of Paris. He became a famous teacher and philosopher, part of the extraordinary intellectual flowering of the 13th century. He was a friend and colleague of St Thomas Aquinas.
At this time the friars were still a new and revolutionary force in the Church, and their radical embracing of poverty and rejection of institutional structures raised suspicion and opposition from many quarters. Bonaventure defended the Franciscan Order and, after he was elected general of the order in 1255, he ruled it with wisdom and prudence. He is regarded as the second founder of the Order.
He declined the archbishopric of York in 1265 but was made cardinal bishop of Albano in 1273, dying a year later in 1274 at the Council of Lyons, at which the Greek and Latin churches were (briefly) reconciled.
Bonaventure wrote extensively on philosophy and theology, making a permanent mark on intellectual history; but he always insisted that the simple and uneducated could have a clearer knowledge of God than the wise.
He was declared a Doctor of the Church in 1588 by Pope Sixtus V.
From the Journey of the Mind to God by St. Bonaventure
Mystical wisdom is revealed by the Holy SpiritChrist is both the way and the door. Christ is the staircase and the vehicle, like the throne of mercy over the Ark of the Covenant, and the mystery hidden from the ages. A man should turn his full attention to this throne of mercy, and should gaze at him hanging on the cross, full of faith, hope and charity, devoted, full of wonder and joy, marked by gratitude, and open to praise and jubilation. Then such a man will make with Christ a pasch, that is, a passing-over. Through the branches of the cross he will pass over the Red Sea, leaving Egypt and entering the desert. There he will taste the hidden manna, and rest with Christ in the sepulchre, as if he were dead to things outside. He will experience, as much as is possible for one who is still living, what was promised to the thief who hung beside Christ: Today you will be with me in paradise.
For this passover to be perfect, we must suspend all the operations of the mind and we must transform the peak of our affections, directing them to God alone. This is a sacred mystical experience. It cannot be comprehended by anyone unless he surrenders himself to it; nor can he surrender himself to it unless he longs for it; nor can he long for it unless the Holy Spirit, whom Christ sent into the world, should come and inflame his innermost soul. Hence the Apostle says that this mystical wisdom is revealed by the Holy Spirit.
If you ask how such things can occur, seek the answer in God's grace, not in doctrine; in the longing of the will, not in the understanding; in the sighs of prayer, not in research; seek the bridegroom not the teacher; God and not man; darkness not daylight; and look not to the light but rather to the raging fire that carries the soul to God with intense fervour and glowing love. The fire is God, and the furnace is in Jerusalem, fired by Christ in the ardour of his loving passion. Only he understood this who said: My soul chose hanging and my bones death. Anyone who cherishes this kind of death can see God, for it is certainly true that: No man can look upon me and live.
Let us die, then, and enter into the darkness, silencing our anxieties, our passions and all the fantasies of our imagination. Let us pass over with the crucified Christ from this world to the Father, so that, when the Father has shown himself to us, we can say with Philip: It is enough. We may hear with Paul: My grace is sufficient for you; and we can rejoice with David, saying: My flesh and my heart fail me, but God is the strength of my heart and my heritage for ever. Blessed be the Lord for ever, and let all the people say: Amen. Amen!

My brothers [sisters], you will always have your trials but, when they come, try to treat them as a happy privilege; you understand that your faith is only put to the test to make you patient, but patience too is to have its practical results so that you will become fully-developed, complete, with nothing missing. - James 1:2-4
*************************************************************
Almighty God and Father, on this feast of Saint Bonaventure, enlighten our minds with the splendor of his teaching, and help us to imitate his ardent love of you.
We make our prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
May the Lord bless us and keep us from all harm; and may he lead us to eternal life.
Amen

Imagining Jesus sitting or standing by me, I speak out my feelings, as one trusted friend to another.

St Theresa's prayer:
May today there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be.

I remember how my mother would hold me
I would look up at her sometime, and see her weep
I understand now what was happening
Love so strong a force
It broke the cage
