Thank you all again for words of prayer and support.  You are blessings for my soul.

Theresa so happy you have found a love in teaching. I always found that I understood a subject much better teaching it, than learning it. There is a point in learning that is called Synthesis. I found as I became a teacher through nursing, is that in order to present something , I had to learn it so thoroughly. Much more so than as a student. That's when the synthesis occurs----you bring together everything you know about what you are going to say. Very often I would practice what I wanted to say. Our minds listen to our words, for example, you say something and your mind says --------no that's not what I meant ,and we rephrase.

Two of the very best things about teaching were helping those that had trouble learning something. The mind would go to work making analogies, to make the thought easier for the student to "get it". Those were amazing moments. Some far out analogies, but they worked.

The very absolute best was the moment that the student ---got it-------technically, it is the moment of INSIGHT. There was a point in time that I noticed in a student that there was a brightness to the eyes. I then watched for it in other students--- same response. I coined a word for it "THE FLASH" It was there for just a split 1-2 seconds, then the eyes returned to normal. Frankly, I got hooked on the FLASH. It was addicting. I was always disappointed if I missed it. It was at that moment, that I knew, I got through. It was also the moment that for what that student was stuck on, was now there own knowledge. They needed me no more. It was exhilarating. Theresa watch for the FLASH. It so will spur you on to teach even more.

    Yeah for clean Mammo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How are you doing, sas?  Just wanted to share that your prayers for my mom have been heard - for the first time since dxed at stage iv bc, her tumor markers have gone down.  Praise God! And thank you, my friends for your prayers.  Please know that you are always always in mine.  Namaste. Mary

    Hi everyone,

Can I ask you all to pray for the repose of the soul of Ben, an 11-year old boy from our parish who was called home to our Lord last night following a 4 year battle with a brain tumour. It's very sad but his family's strong faith will get them through this.

"Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. Amen"

Thank you and God bless you all!

Hello my warrior sisters. Sorry, I haven't been on for a while.

Michello13  May his soul and all the souls of the faithfull departed through the mercy of God rest in peace Amen. Will also say a prayer for his parents.

Some Good News Sisters with regard to prayers when it's 10 00pm in New York it's 3 00am here and I'm tucked up in bed so can't join in with you. However a cause to say a prayer of Thanksgiving.  You will remember I'm on Herceptin (see my profile). Chemo attempts to shrink the tumours but Herceptin mainly halts them and stops them from growing any more and if that happens then it is working. I met my consultant Onc this morning to get the results of my latest CT Scan and ECG. Scan showed that the tumours are stable and have not increased in either size or number. There is no evidence of the disease any where else. In terms of Herceptin that's sucessfull and both my Onc and the Onc nurse were very pleased for me and  were very upbeat about my progress. Also a SE of Herceptin is that it can reduce the ejection fraction in your heart but the ECG showed no probs there. So sisters will you join me and say a prayer of thanksgiving for my continued success and that that success is visited upon all those in this fight.

Will post again soon to tell you about speaking at the masses on Sat/Sunday 24/25th September.

    Take care all.

    Frank

Prayers for Ben and his family, I just met with a family yesterday who lost their 13 year old daughter to a brain tumor this year. The grief is just palpable, they started a foundation called werpurple and it is a great site for parents who are going through this horrible disease.

I dont know if it is just me but it seems more and more prevalant ...I myself know 3 children personally that have passed of a brain tumor in the last 5 years.

Hearing so much about brain cancer in the young lately....May God be with Ben's family.  If you want to hear a remarkable story from a mom that lost her 15 year old in a tragic car wreck this last Feb. please click the link and then click listen.  Fast forward to the 20 min mark, she talks for about 15 minutes but you will be captivated the whole time.

When you hear her talk about her other daughter's room mate, that is my daughter.  Rooted in faith is what carries us forward....

Michelleo13 - so sorry to hear about young Ben...here's a prayer

O Lord, whose ways are beyond understanding, listen to the prayers of your faithful people: that those weighed down by grief at the loss of this little child may find reassurance in your infinite goodness.  We ask this through Christ our Lord. R/. Amen.

I'm also praying for a 15 yrs old girl (school athelete), who has a rare inoperable brain tumor located hear the brain stem.  We don't know the family personally but the mother is a real estate agent at my husband's brokerage.

Kay1963 - praying for you to sail through the rads tx. Let us count down with you :)

MKjjd60 - yes continue to pray without ceasing, Praise God. I can share with you about my late mom who had a medical miracle considering her creatinine level was over 1000 and no dialysis. She had minimal SE, especially when the doctor and nurses and SAS told me, she could easily been in a coma when the number hit 500.  Me and the ladies here and many more parishioners and priests prayed for her.  Pray and visualize her tumor shrinking.

Frank - great news, and yes prayers for thanksgiving and tumor continue to shrink.

Sas - praying for your little bean to disappear and be NO MORE.

Tink, Sagina, Squid, Barb, Theresa, LMFSM, Mmm5 - a great big hello Laughing

Laura - sorry I didn't make it to the reunion but great to know you ladies had a great time.

    Namaste!

Thanks to all for your prayers for Ben and his family. The funeral is Friday morning. I expect it will be a tough one to get through. mmm5, you're right it does seem to be more prevalent. Ben is the 2nd young person at our church to die of a brain tumor in the last 2 years.

Frank, what wonderful news. Thanks be to God!

Again thanks for all that have me in their prayers , I consider this a formidable prayer group. We have each other , but we also have our silent friends that come here , but don't post, yet pray.

Please to all that ask us to pray, don't forget about the Catholic intentions thread. If you add your intention for prayers there, when we do a novena where the intentions are printed off to be sent to a monastery/cloister or taken to a shrine, they are then included. Please keep the intention short and to the point versus the story that we tell here. The intentions thread will go on for as long as BCO is here. When the intentions thread is printed it can run into many pages and ink. I will finish this and bring back the link. For those that have recently joined us , the intentions list allows us to remember those that we are praying for, with all of our altered memories do to our life saving drugs, it is a real benefit.

    Catholic intentions thread.

Again for all our new members, there is a prayer thread. It is for prayers only, not discussion . The thread header will explain in detail, as the intentions thread does. I will bring it's link here also. Please add them too your favorites list. If there is a prayer you want to add there, please do so. I did transfer a prayer the other day . Kay I think it was yours, BUT????? There were several others that could be transferred , but the Librarian wasn't quite up to it.

Laura---------The brain tumor ,that was told to me over the phone on the day, I had my breast BX, which has behaved itself, is now growing faster than it should to be considered B9. Watchful Waiting which is considered a proper approach in certain medical situations, is now over. This puts me back on the doc/dx/test/treatment treadmill.  That's it in two sentences.  Just have to keep on the treadmill. Hope I made the right Insurance choices to be able to go to the right place for dx & treatment. Not going to get crazy about it. You know what the last 2 3/4 years have been for me. You in your guidance got me here.  Foobville was the wrong place for me to be when I first found BCO.

God has His plan for each of us. I'll go with the flow and tweak it when someones not moving fast enough. I know how to push the system when it needs it. I also know how to push insurance when they need pushing.  God only knows , I just reached the point of reconnecting with the world after the loss of DH. Had this come up another month 1/2  earlier, I'd be saying something different. But I feel strong in mind, body and soul--------Now I just have to keep everyone in line doing their job.-------Yes, I'm a pro at that one. With the Catholic thread family behind me, I'm good. Ain't shed a tear on this one---well I did give myself one moment.. My frame of mind is again, keep everyone in line doing their job.-----------Laura thanks again for the long ago invitation to come here---------These are formidable women whose prayers get answers. Namaste sheila

The photo is of Steve Jobs who worked for many years for Apple and was the founder of this company. He is the person who is greatly responsible for the iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac computers, and most things Apple has brought to market.

He was an incredible man who "changed the world" with many of the things he was responsible for bringing to market. He will be greatly missed for not only was he so very talented, but more importantly a good and kind man who thought of othere before himself. He will be greatly missed!
