Hello ladies
kay1963 hope that the rads go easy on you and that you get through OK.
Thank you ladies for all your good wishes on my good results - join me in a prayer of Thanksgiving tonight and say a prayer for all parents who have lost children.
Sas and Estepp don't know about making history but as Herceptin is originally a BC treatment if I develop a cracking pair of 34DDs I will make history but I won't be too pleased as they won't fit under any of my shirts LOL.
Michelleo13 I have a "big sis" who is in London On and if I'm not mistaken that's not too far away from you.
Ladies in our parish we have a "Third World Group" and I'm the Chair this year. We hold fun raising events to give financial aid to 22 people each year with whom we have a "connection" working in the 3rd World or developing countries is what we should really say. On the weekend of the 24th/25th we were holding our annual church door collection. Our Parish Priest sent word to one of the meetings that it would be a good idea for someone to speak for a few minutes at the end of the masses that weekend to explain the work of the Group. Of course everyone at the meeting turned and looked at me and said "You are the chair and you are one of the lay readers" So that's how I ended up speaking for 3 minutes (rehearsed it before hand and timed it with a stop watch) at each of the masses that weekend.
Ladies look at my pic than go to http://stbrigids3wg.wordpress.com then click on "What we do" then click on the video and see if you recognise anyone ! ! First person to spot the mistake" (and I use that word in a very liberal interpretation ) gets a candle lit in their name and a decade of the rosary said for them ! !
Enjoy your weekend all. I will be up at 5 45am Saturday morning to watch, live, Ireland beat Wales in the 1/4 final of the rugby world cup in New Zeland - hence the time.
Take care all.
Frank

Frank, thank you for the well wishes. I watched your video. I am not good at these kind of things, not very observant. Is your hair parted on a different side? LOL, that's really out there, but I couldn't see anything. Happy to hear your team won! My Phillies lost on Wednesday, and now if they don't win tonight, they are out of the playoffs. We shall see.

Hello everyone,
I went to Ben's funeral Mass this morning. It was so very sad. May God give his family the strength they need to deal with this enormous loss. My 11-year old daughter came with me...she sang with Ben in our church's youth choir. I have to admit she held up better than I did.
Frank, yes London is only about an hour's drive from here.
This is our Canadian Thanksgiving weekend and the weather is glorious! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Such a hard day for you and your daughter. May God give you peace during your thanksgiving weekend. Blessings, Michelle. Mary

Dear God, bless all the friends on this thread. Protect and comfort all who suffer from disease. Give our doctors the knowledge to treat us effectively. Let us cast our cares upon You, knowing that it is only by placing all our fears and problems in Your hands that we will find peace. Let us always walk in Your light and never become too caught up in earthly concerns. Thank You for this weekend that allows us to rest and take time with family and friends. Amen

I've been invited to a retreat, they had an extra paid slot. I was able to get the friday off, and looked at the calendar...the evening we leave is October 13, the one year anniversary of my "phone" call. Perhaps God really wants me reflecting the perfect year later?

Amen to that!

Sunday Greetings All,
I have been reading along, catching up on the past 6 days.
Sheila...are you still in the investigative phase, having appointments with specialists?
Theresa, I too was diagnosed in October or 2009...sincere congrats on your clear mammo!
Which brings us into the October Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I know it is a hot topic (at least what I have seen in the past on the boards...) but it inspires me to continue to spread our message. I try to wear something everyday, be it a "ribbon scarf" around my necks, pins etc...
Many of you prayed for my dear friend Judy last year at this time, and she has had a rough go of it. She has had another relapse, and continues in chemo (which is working.) It's that her triple neg cancer is so aggressive, she had only a few months after her last chemo before being called back in again. Her story is what brought me to sit on a park bench and cheer on all of the walkers in the Susan G. Komen a they came through DC a short while back. I felt incredibly grateful for our Sisters and Brothers who were walking 20 miles a day, three days in a row. As in last year, I would clap and yell thank you, to replies of THANK YOU!!!
This is a very special month for us (in my heart and mind,) and I welcome any funds raised going to research.
Which brings a question for me....I was very hot about the Mammogram recommendations being raised to age 50 unless there is family history, and heard all sorts of rationalizations by one of the male MD's (in an Administrative role where I work.)
I have to dig a little deeper, but has there been a change regarding recommendations for PSA blood tests for Prostate Cancer screening. I'm curious what the rationale is?
back to the change to age 50 instead of 40 for first mammogram:
The MD was trying sell me a bunch of hoo ha, like "well, what do you do if the mammo is positive? "my response..." send for further testing? MD...gave a mini lecture on subjecting women to needless biopsies/further tests, financial considerations for extensive follow up, and the added stress that women experience, only to learn suspicious mammo findings are negative.Me: if I hadn't found the lump, I would most likely be stage 4 at presentation. AND the cou de grat, they do not recommended teaching self breast exam anymore.YEAY!!! (so glad he is not my MD)
I wonder how men feel about the revised PSA testing?
and how many people who have had breast cancer or prostate cancer were involved in creating the new guidelines and recommendations?
So this is our month to share our stories with the world and those around us, as we have a story to tell.
Love you all,
traci

http://www.mysanantonio.com/life/article/Traveling-Pants-sisterhood-provides-support-2206575.php
This ran in today's paper. I was lucky enough to meet Chrissy B on her travels on all the women from this board that she is bringing together. I got to see the "traveling pants", perhaps we should shove those under the nose of the medical community? Most of the signatures on those pants were from young women in their 30's and 20's - all stage four. Perhaps someone should tell them their sceenings were too soon?

Ladies, I am not a regular reader of this thread but am a Catholic.
Saint Mary of the Cross Mackillop is an Australian saint who was canonised last year. She founded the order of the Sisters of St Joseph in Australia in 1866 and established schools run by the order. She also spent time in New Zealand and the order is also active there and in South America and Ireland.
Next week, I am doing a pilgrimage to St Mary's shrine and chapel in Sydney, Australia, where she is interred. I intend to pray for everyone on this site while I am there and am wondering if there is anything particular I should do to acknowledge any particular intentions that I could pray for. I believe there is a book where I am able to record the names of people to be prayed for.
Let me know if you ladies have a particular preference as to how I should present my prayers or if there are any particular prayer needs.
God's blessings and good health to you all.

Racy how beautiful. SAS can better guide you through the intentions thread we have. I believe she keeps up with it. I copied them into word then printed out a couple of pages when I went to the Basilica of the Little Flower here in San Antonio.
I am going on retreat this weekend as well. I would love to take the intentions as well with me.
SAS can you guide us again?
Thanks.

Gina---just popped in . I will go get the link and bring it back
Racy this is so kind of you to do this. We have two separate threads, one is the prayer thread, the second is The INTENTIONS thread. It is for this very thing that the Intentions thread was done. We have always asked that the intentions be kept short, bc when they are run off it can use allot of paper and ink. It's tough to say if you should just run off the last 3 pages. I will look at them and see. Wait for a few days to run them off and sisters can add new intentions. I will post this and then edit with the link and make sure it works. RACY---I've checked the link and it works. I think only running off page 5 and forward will be okay. I'll write a note in the next box to all. If there is a novena that we can do while you are on the trip let us know what it is . Perhaps Theresa can find it. What we have done in the past, is when the intentions were taken to a shrine , we did a novena at the same time. Bless you so much for doing this Thank you, please join us, many praying together has such strength. Namaste sheila

To all the sisters of the Catholic thread, Racy has offered to take our intentions to the Shrine of ST.Mary of the Cross Mackillop in Australia. Racy is leaving next week. Please add your intentions to page six etc. I've looked at page 4 and page five. I think the intentions from page 5 forward are still pretty much current. What I did with my intentions on page 4 were update them and move them forward. Please, anything before page 5 move forward and revise as necessary.
Please, keep them short , concise, no double spacing-----it reduces ink and paper.
AS you have read above we have an opportunity for a novena----unplanned----I always believe something like this is guided, we don't know why, but never miss a wonderful gift like what Racy is giving us.
If you can think of anyone that might need to know this please PM them. We will update novena plans as they are made L&H&P's Namaste sheila

Ladies, here is the novena prayer:
Ever generous God, You inspired Saint Mary MacKillop to live her life faithful to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and constant in bringing hope and encouragement to those who were disheartened, lonely or needy. With confidence in your generous providence and through the intercession of Saint Mary MacKillop we ask that you grant our request.
When should we start the novena? I am flying to Sydney next Monday and will probably visit the shrine on Tuesday and attend a mass there on Wednesday.

Sheila - thanks for the heads up.
Racy - my suggestion is ... if you are attending Mass on Wednesday the 19th, then that day could be the last (7th) day of the novena, so we could start this Thursday the 13th. That's so wonderful that you're willing to do this!!
Traci - good to see you! Yes, it's been pretty quiet in the last couple of years since the bomb shell of pushing back the mammo date for women. I think so many people were outraged. My daughter's doctor is starting her sooner than later. I don't know anything about the prostrate testing. I'm sorry to hear about Judy ... I pray that she will overcome it in mind, body and soul.
Kay - sorry about the Phillies... they're one of my favorite teams since we lived in South Jersey. Are you getting radiation now?
We had a very interesting seminar at work last week. A radiation physicist came in to talk to us about computed tomography. As he had all of us introduce ourselves, everyone was sharing their engineering degrees and when it came to me, I said, "I'm not an engineer, my degree is in computers, but I *am* a cancer patient and have had the use of CT many times in my diagnosis and treatment." The physicist was really moved that I would share that with the group (everyone at work already knew) and he said that would change the shape of his presentation (instead of directing all attention to the engineering side of CT). His specialty is radiation oncology. So it was a really fun day. It was a radiation physicist who did most of the work for my SAVI radiation treatments.
Otherwise, I've been very busy with work, CCD, school and life. It's a good thing. I'm really, really tired of hip and leg pain. Skip and I are going to our annual Franciscan Retreat this weekend, so I will bring our intentions there and pray for all of us. It's Friday night to Saturday evening.
Have a great week everyone. Pax et bonum!
