Day 6 of Novena to St Joseph - http://www.praymorenovenas.com/st-joseph-novena/
St. Joseph most likely died with Jesus and Mary close to him -- the way we all would like to. For that reason, he is the patron saint of a happy death.
Today let's pray for everyone who is nearing death.
Let's pray for those who are suffering and in agony -- that they may have a peaceful and happy death.
Finally, let's pray that when we face death, that we may also be close to Jesus and Mary.
Here are the novena prayers for today:
Saint Joseph, you are the faithful protector and intercessor of all who love and venerate you. You know that I have confidence in you and that, after Jesus and Mary, I come to you as an example for holiness, for you are especially close with God. Therefore, I humbly commend myself, with all who are dear to me and all that belong to me, to your intercession. I beg of you, by your love for Jesus and Mary, not to abandon me during life and to assist me at the hour of my death.
Glorious Saint Joseph, spouse of the Immaculate Virgin, pray for me to have a pure, humble, charitable mind, and perfect resignation to the divine Will. Be my guide, my father, and my model through life that I may die as you did in the arms of Jesus and Mary.
Loving Saint Joseph, faithful follower of Jesus Christ, I raise my heart to you to implore your powerful intercession in obtaining from the Divine Heart of Jesus all the graces necessary for my spiritual and temporal welfare, particularly the grace of a happy death, and the special grace I now implore:
(Mention your request)
Guardian of the Word Incarnate, I feel confident that your prayers on my behalf will be graciously heard before the throne of God.
St. Joseph, Most Faithful, Pray for us!
Amen.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.
As a reminder, in addition to this intention, you can pray for any special intention you have.0 -

Day 7 of Novena to St Joseph - http://www.praymorenovenas.com/st-joseph-novena/
Saint Joseph truly followed the will of God.
When an angel came to Joseph and told him about Mary and the child she was carrying, Joseph took Mary as his wife. He did so without any questions, any doubt or any hesitation. He knew God's will for him, and he chose to accept it and live for the glory of Jesus Christ.
Today let's pray that we may all be more like St. Joseph - more open to the will of God in our own lives. Let's pray for clarity in our discernment. And let's pray for the confidence St. Joseph had as we choose to follow God's will.
Here are the novena prayers for today:
Saint Joseph, you are the faithful protector and intercessor of all who love and venerate you. You know that I have confidence in you, and that, after Jesus and Mary, I come to you as an example for holiness, for you are especially close with God. Day 8 of Novena to St Joseph - http://www.praymorenovenas.com/st-joseph-novena/
Joseph was a very brave man.
When Mary was pregnant with Jesus, Joseph didn't abandon her. He didn't shame her. He didn't let anyone else hurt her.
Instead, he stood by her side. He defended the life she carried, Jesus Christ. He protected Jesus when he was the most vulnerable -- when he was an unborn baby.
And we are all called to do the same -- to protect and defend the sanctity of every human life.
Let's pray for a greater respect for human life worldwide.
Here are the novena prayers for today:
Saint Joseph, you are the faithful protector and intercessor of all who love and venerate you. You know that I have confidence in you, and that, after Jesus and Mary, I come to you as an example for holiness, for you are especially close with God. Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone. As St. Patrick brought the Good News of Jesus Christ to Ireland he certainly did us Irish a big favour. Thank you again for starting the novena Penny. I have really been enjoying taking part. Is that you and your hubby? You mentioned my Dad having a good Irish name - there are many here who have your husband's names (christian name and surname) . I wonder if he has Irish roots.
PS my daughter had her 1st confession on Wed. I suspect it won't be her lastHappy St. Patrick's Day again to all.XXX

Good morning, FeelingFeline! Happy St. Patrick's Day to you! Yes, that's me and my husband (about 5 years ago). My husband does have Irish roots - in fact, his full name is Sean Patrick. He also took Patrick as his confirmation name when he was a kid, so he's technically Sean Patrick Patrick LOL. He's always had a strange sense of humor but it's one of the reasons I fell in love with him. What's not to love about an Irishman, right? How do you all celebrate the day over there? Over here, we live near the shore so there are usually parades on the boardwalks with vendors selling all kinds of Irish foods and merchandise. Of course, I try to drill it into my kids that it's not about the parties, but about the great man who brought Christianity to Ireland.
Congrats on your daughter's 1st confession. That reminds me - I have to "remind" my 16 year old daughter that she hasn't been in a while :-)

Penny you will not believe I only learned two days ago (from a slideshow on the Irish Times website) that a lot of the traditions we have here on St.Patrick's Day originated in the US. Parades - American invention. Marching Bands - straight from the US. Colouring everything green - you guessed it, started in America. Probably the only thing that's different here is that it is a public holiday, our 4th July. I live in Wicklow which was a Viking settlement at the time St Patrick's follower St. Mantan arrived, so the local parade this year is having a Viking theme. St. Patrick's Day is "vernacularly" known as "Paddy's Day".
I love your husband's sense of humour. Sure you can't have too many Patricks. You are married to a hunky Irishman and I'm married to a hunky American. XXX

Day 9 of Novena to St Joseph - http://www.praymorenovenas.com/st-joseph-novena/
The Blessed Virgin Mary helped Saint Joseph become the great leader and protector of his family that he was. He needed her prayers, love and support.
So today, let's pray for all mothers, wives, and future wives -- that they will love, respect, support and pray for their husbands or future spouses.
And finally, let's pray one more time for all families to grow in holiness.
Here are the novena prayers for today:
Saint Joseph, you are the faithful protector and intercessor of all who love and venerate you. You know that I have confidence in you, and that, after Jesus and Mary, I come to you as an example for holiness, for you are especially close with God. End of Novena to St Joseph -
The Novena to St Joseph has ended. Thank you so much in praying this novena to St. Joseph with me.
At the end of every novena, we always pray the following as our final prayer. Please join me in praying it today.
Let us pray...
Dear Lord Jesus, I have specific requests that may only partially fill the infinite needs and desires that are in my heart. I ask that You answer me not only for those requests but also for a greater reliance on You to satisfy the needs and desires that You have given me.
Please grant the prayers of all those who prayed this novena with me. Bless them with Your love and make them holy!
May I seek You with a sincere heart knowing that it will profit me nothing if I gain the whole world yet lose my soul.
So, help me to see Your good and gracious purpose in all my trials. Help me to see Your blessings in every day and help me to love You more.
Thank You for everything, Lord Jesus!
Amen!

The next novena is the Novena to Saint Padre Pio!
Saint Padre Pio is a very powerful intercessor! He is widely regarded as a miracle worker.
Lent is a time for us to focus more on our interior life, to grow in virtue and to detach ourselves from the world -- and even from ourselves. It's a time for self-examination and a chance to reorient our lives towards God. Saint Padre Pio exemplified many of these qualities in his life.
So as we continue our Lenten journey, it's the perfect time to reflect on the words of Padre Pio, as he said, "Prayer is the best weapon we have; it is the key to God's heart."
It starts March 26th.
I'll just post the link if anyone's interested.

That's great Penny, thanks. Getting a novena going here was a great idea. Looking forward to another. Padre Pio is a favourite saint in our household. Ditto what Cami said - hope it has been good for you.

Just thinking when I was growing up we always prayed to St. Padre Pio, it's been a while. Wow--When I was young we always gave things up for lent--real young like gum, and when I was goofing around with the nuns sardines--they never even smiled--Anyway over the years I certainly commend someone for giving something up that 's important but I have changed I know try to be better and add things to my life for the goodness of people--for me that's kind of hard sometimes because I don't believe all people are good but offering it up is my way of spending Lent. And of course I forget sometimes and dislike everyone for the whole day.

I hear you, camillegal. This year I gave up my daily frappuccinos, and I added going to Stations of the Cross on Friday nights. Not much, but I'm trying. This chemo treatment I'm on is tough, but as long as it works, I thank God for it. I also thank God for my husband, who drives me to Stations, since my eyesight is not so good at night.
:-) Penny
P.S. If you're interested in another novena, I found this one that starts today: If it repeats itself every day, I'll only post it today and you can just scroll back to read it:
Novena to Reverse HHS Mandate -- Day 1
Lord God,
You are the Author of Life and Freedom.
In your Spirit, we have the freedom of the children of God,
And in your Name, we promote the freedom of all
To seek, embrace, and live the truth of your Word.
In that freedom, Lord, we your people stand with Life
And reject whatever destroys life
Or distorts the meaning of human sexuality.
In that freedom, Lord, we your people live our lives
In a way that advances your Kingdom of Life,
And we refuse to cooperate in what is evil.
At this moment, therefore, when our government has decided
To force us to cooperate in evil,
We pray for the grace to be faithful to you
And to oppose the unjust laws and mandates
That have been imposed upon us and our institutions.
We pray for the conversion of those in civil authority
Who fail to appreciate the demands of conscience.
We pray for the complete reversal of all policies
That permit the destruction of life
Or coerce the cooperation of your people
In practices that are wrong.
Bring us to a Culture of Life.
We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen0 -
Thank u Penny.

Hi Cami and Penny, really know what you mean about trying to improve on dislike for certain people, offering it up is a hard, but very good suggestion. Penny that new novena really speaks to me. The situation here in Ireland is so similar. Imagine our country as something akin to one of your States. Ireland's government is galloping down the road of a raft of anti life measures at present, heavily backed/pushed by the UN even fine organisations like Amnesty which do much good work are loud in their condemnation of Irekland as abusing human rights by not having same-sex marriage and on-demand abortion. Until a few weeks ago abortion was illegal in TIreland, one of I think only 2 EU countries in that position. Under the cloak of the sad death of lady who could have been treated under our laws as they existed, but was the victim of medical misadventure, the government moved to bring in a far more wide ranging version of abortion than any one could have imagined - they made it legal to abort a baby if the mother threatens suicide - despite the overwhelming evidence from the psychiatric community that abortion is never a correct treatment for suicidal feelings. There were some pro abortion psychs but they were pro abortion cos they were pro abortion, they equally agreed that abortion isn't the treatment for suicide. Abortion is a treatment for unwanted pregnancy. One of my best friends from school is a psychiatrist and she contacted the pro life organisation and volunteered to go on TV and debate all this, which she then did, on both national TV and radio but it was all to no avail as sadly the gov just rammed this through. They ended up expelling members of their own party who bravely voted with their conscience. The next thing that is coming down the line is same sex marriage - the turning on its head of everything we have understood marriage to be. This one requires a constitutional amendment so will go to the people, as our constitution mentions marriage distinctly. So to redefine marriage requires the people's approval. I fear that the current propaganda/orthodoxy/kool aid has so far spread that the vote will pass. Polls say it will, though polls have been wrong. It is very sad to see what is happening in my country, frankly I am devastated, I see so strong an antilife movemnet i Western culture that it is impossible for me not to conclude that Western Culture must be in serious steep decline. It is the logical place that ant ilife will take us. Going to post this fast without spell check as running to collect youngest but just wanted to say thanks for posting this prayer. It is so very relevant this side of the Atlantic to. XXX

Sorry, feelingfeline. It sounds as if you're as disappointed in your government as I am in mine. All we can do is pray, and vote.

A real life "nuns are people too" story. This isn't my kind of music but the joy and emotion in the story are universal. Young nun in an Ursuline convent in Milan (she's from Sicily originally) persuaded by her superiors to enter a rock singing comp as prize money would do good charitable work. Format of show is judges sit with backs to contestant initially in order to have no preconceptions of contestant. Judges are Italian rock stars. Watch out for the judge in the hat, he has a death's head "I will triumph" tattoo on his neck, and he is the most overwhelmed with emotion...it's beautiful.

Novena to Reverse HHS Mandate: Day 4
Lord Jesus Christ,
Ruler of all nations,
You gave Your apostles the command
to preach the Gospel to the ends of the earth,
and promised that You would be with them all days,
even until the end of the world. After Your Ascension,
they went forth to preach Your word
and You confirmed with signs and wonders
that You were working through them. When they were told by the authorities of their day
not to speak Your name anymore,
and were even arrested and scourged,
they boldly declared,
“We must obey God rather than men!”Lord Jesus,
You continue to proclaim Your Word
in Your Church today.
Give us the same clarity, courage, and determination
that Your apostles had,
that we may not allow any obstacle or earthly power
to intimidate us into silence or compromise.Grant that our highest loyalty may always and only be to you,
Who live and reign forever and ever. Amen.0 -

Novena to Reverse HHS Mandate: Day 5
Lord God,
You are Light, and in You there is no darkness.
You sent Your Son Jesus Christ
as the Light of the World,
and You sent Your Holy Spirit
to enlighten the hearts and minds of all.Lord, we pray today
that we may always experience
the light of Your truth,
informing our conscience
of what is right and what is wrong. We pray that this light
will reach all of our fellow citizens,
that they may recognize the dangers of evil
which are often hidden along their path.Open the eyes and minds of all
to the threats that currently exist
to our religious freedom,
to the health and well-being of women,
and to the good of our nation.Give us the grace not only to recognize evil,
but also to reject it with the unwavering strength
that comes from you.We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Novena to Reverse HHS Mandate: Day 6
Father, You unite the human family
through the blood of Your Son Jesus Christ
and the gift of the Holy Spirit. At this time of need,
when Your Church and all Your people
are called to stand firm against injustices
inflicted on us from our government,
we ask You to strengthen us in the bond of unity.Strengthen the unity of Your Church,
that none of Your faithful may be on the sidelines,
but that everyone may be active in this battle.Give Church leaders the grace to discern
the many varieties of the working of Your Spirit
that they may fan into flame the gifts that the Spirit
bestows freely on Your people. And give us the wisdom to know
that no group has a monopoly on the defense of life and freedom.
May we work in an ecumenical and inter-religious spirit
and welcome the efforts of all people of good will
who believe in freedom of religion and conscience. We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Today is the first day of the Padre Pio Novena!
Padre Pio was named Francesco in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, and was born to peasant farmers in the city of Pietrelcina, Italy in 1887.
Even as a child, Padre Pio had great faith and was very devout. He experienced visions and spoke with Jesus and Mary throughout his childhood. Religion was the center of life for Padre Pio and his family.
So today, let's pray for all children -- that their families, friends or community will help them grow in faith, hope and love in our Lord.
In addition to this intention, you can pray for any special intention you have.
Here are the novena prayers for today:
