Hi DiamondGirl and PatMom, I too have wondered how Frank is doing and have been remembering him so much as Easter approaches. I have just sent him a PM saying please do not feel under any pressure to post but just letting you know that we are thinking of you and praying for you.

The Divine Mercy Novena is next, for those interested.   We will begin praying on Good Friday -- that's less than two weeks away.  http://www.praymorenovenas.com/divine-mercy-noven...

We are having a glorious spell of weather here in the emerald Isle. Good Friday was marked by a re-enactment of the Stations by a youth group in our parish church at noon, reading of the Passion and veneration of the cross at 3pm. Then at 7pm there was an ecumenical "way of the cross" involving the 3 Christian churches in my town, a huge wooden cross was carried in paired relays, starting at the Methodist Church, then going to the Anglican Church and finishing at our parish church (St. Patrick's). There were stops for prayer and reflection at each church. As Wickow town is built on several hills this was fairly "uphill work" for the cross bearers - and a powerful reminder of the reality that Jesus really pulled his own cross to his place of execution. My son (17) took part in the cross-carrying, by chance he was paired with a teacher from his school.

A very happy and blessed Easter to everyone. Christ is Risen.

Wow - fabulous. Love the rewriting of the lyrics - so much nicer, always thought the Halleluia chorus of the Leonard Cohen song sounded nice but the song lyrics were depressing - this lady has made it perfect!

Coinccidentally there was a news item here at the beginning of April where a 60 yr old pp in the midlands was marrying a couple he knew well. He reworded the same Cohen song to fit the wedding celebration and surprised the couple by singing it from the alter as they entered the church. Of course it was all captured on vid and became one of those overnight internet viral sensations. Always seems to amaze the general (non Catholic) population to find out that religious are people too.

Thanks for sharing that beautiful Easter version.

Day 8 of Divine Mercy Novena

"Today bring to Me THE SOULS WHO ARE DETAINED IN PURGATORY, and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. Let the torrents of My Blood cool down their scorching flames. All these souls are greatly loved by Me. They are making retribution to My justice. It is in your power to bring them relief. Draw all the indulgences from the treasury of My Church and offer them on their behalf. Oh, if you only knew the torments they suffer, you would continually offer for them the alms of the spirit and pay off their debt to My justice."

Most Merciful Jesus, You Yourself have said that You desire mercy; so I bring into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls in Purgatory, souls who are very dear to You, and yet, who must make retribution to Your justice. May the streams of Blood and Water which gushed forth from Your Heart put out the flames of Purgatory, that there, too, the power of Your mercy may be celebrated.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls suffering in Purgatory, who are enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. I beg You, by the sorrowful Passion of Jesus Your Son, and by all the bitterness with which His most sacred Soul was flooded: Manifest Your mercy to the souls who are under Your just scrutiny. Look upon them in no other way but only through the Wounds of Jesus, Your dearly beloved Son; for we firmly believe that there is no limit to Your goodness and compassion.

Divine Mercy Novena Prayers - Day 9

"Today bring to Me SOULS WHO HAVE BECOME LUKEWARM, and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. These souls wound My Heart most painfully. My soul suffered the most dreadful loathing in the Garden of Olives because of lukewarm souls. They were the reason I cried out: 'Father, take this cup away from Me, if it be Your will.' For them, the last hope of salvation is to run to My mercy."

Most compassionate Jesus, You are Compassion Itself. I bring lukewarm souls into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart. In this fire of Your pure love, let these tepid souls, who, like corpses, filled You with such deep loathing, be once again set aflame. O Most Compassionate Jesus, exercise the omnipotence of Your mercy and draw them into the very ardor of Your love, and bestow upon them the gift of holy love, for nothing is beyond Your power.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon lukewarm souls who are nonetheless enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Father of Mercy, I beg You by the bitter Passion of Your Son and by His three-hour agony on the Cross: Let them, too, glorify the abyss of Your mercy.

    Amen.

Hello ladies- I am new to this thread. So glad to find it. I am asking you to say a prayer for me as I am beginning to experience more pain in my back and right shoulder.  I was originally diagnosed 2006 . I was deemed Stage IV about a year ago and found myself returning to my Catholic roots in a more regular way ( from Northern England originally). I enjoy Sunday mass immensely and the choir. The hymns are not the ones I grew up hearing but still move me . Many can be seen on You-Tube so I can learn the words. I have been attending a scripture class weekly and as long as I can drive I will keep going.

I am filled with joy at the events in Rome today. Can you imagine two Saints being canonized in our lifetime and then two living Popes presiding over it.

Adding you to my prayer list Rene! The canonizations are awesome, my husbands brother and his wife were there, can't wait to hear their stories!

Rene, welcome.  It is a delight to hear that you are going to Mass.  Since you were away from the Sacraments for awhile don't forget to go to Confession.  It is so cleansing.  And if you are unable to attend Mass perhaps some one can bring you Communion at home.  God bless you Rene and peace of Jesus to you.

corky60- Yes,  I did attend Sacrament of Reconciliation and mass over Easter and it was so cleansing. When you search your memories and initially think -well I am a good person and lead a pretty quite life these days. I was able to dig deep and discover things from my past that I never considered sinful but indeed were. My goal now is to get my son ( only child and my two grandkids)  to attend regular church. They just started - though not at the Catholic church, at least a Christian one.  I have .lots of reading to do. Book of Psalms,  Reading the New Testament- Perkins, At Home with the Word. Things have changed so much since my early days of the Latin Mass. The gospels the same ones I recall though and I get so much more now. I still see so many at church just going thru the motions ad not really listening to anything.

    God Bless-all

Rene, welcome. Sorry to hear of your pain and may God bless you and bring you healing. Yes, it is so exciting to see the canonisations. I wasn't born for J23 (I'm a '67 baby) but JP2 is so much of my lifetime, incredible day. My next-door-neighbour went over to Rome for it so like Linda I'm looking forward to hearing a first hand account. I have seen many ugly, bitter and rude comments about the new saints, RC and religion in general, posted up on our national newspapers websites in response to news coverage of the events. Ireland is currently a largely secular, I would say aggressively secular, society. Agressively - in that the national media and government policies are in conformance in promotion of anti life policies and stamping out of religion. The comments that I see pass through a moderator, who obviously sees nothing wrong in allowing such insulting comments to be put up - to give you an example a mild comment would be "what claptrap, a load of sky-fairy believers". That would be the politest end of the insulting. I'm dismayed that the moderators on our national papers find it acceptable to be rude about Catholic/Christian believers and anyone who believes in God. It shows how vastly the country I've grown up in has changed in my lifetime. I'm telling you all this because I want you all to know how incredibly heartening it was to log into my email just now and as I am signed up to receive emails of new postings on this thread in flooded all your postings. It just made my day.SmileRene you must be a Geordie! I'm from just across the water! XXX and God bless to all.

Feelingfeli- and all you ladies I thank you for your prayers. I used to think I had to kneel down ( cannot do anymore- the knees) at bedtime to pray but as my priest said on Sunday you can do it anytime-silently or aloud and I am doing that a lot. As you say it IS time for us to not deny our faith. I think many eons ago when Catholics were persecuted and went about their religion in secret . Now is the time to defend and praise our Lord. The world is becoming a sorry situation. They need our prayers too. The part of UK  where I attended Catholic school was mostly a protestant so my sibs and I had to pass their school to get to ours. Sometimes were picked on- poor farmers. It may have taken a lifetime but I am so very proud now to say " I'm Catholic" or wait is that the sin of " pride" ..ha

Anyway to get back to prayer. :)

Can I ask for some prayers?  I have so much pain in my liver that I've had to double up on my pain meds. I'm scheduled to see the oncologist tomorrow at my chemo appointment.

    Thanks. God Bless.
