Novena to Reverse HHS Mandate: Day 7
Be merciful, O Lord, for we have sinned.
We thank you, Father,
for the grace of repentance
and the power of conversion at work in Your people. We thank You for Your Holy Spirit,
Who convicts us of sin and enlightens us
about how to please you.
Lord, enable Your people,
in the midst of current persecution and danger,
to live the spirit of repentance
ever more deeply and effectively. For every moment we lacked courage in the past,
give us the grace to repent.
For every time we were silent when we should have spoken,
give us the grace to repent.
For every time we could have witnessed to life but did not,
give us the grace to repent.Made strong by the spirit of repentance,
may Your people rise up
and reverse the tide of evil in our midst.Enable us to defend our freedom
and to build a Culture of Life.We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Today is the second day of the Novena to St Padre Pio.
Padre Pio was known for being a good and holy confessor.
He dedicated many hours each day to hearing confessions, and he was known for demanding an honest and sincere examination of conscience.
Today, let's pray that all sinners & devout souls alike will be able to make a good confession this Lent. Let's also resolve to sin no more.
In addition to this intention, you can pray for any special intention you have.
Okay, let's get to praying!
Here are the novena prayers for today:

Thought you all might like this short story, "God is never wrong":
A king who did not believe in the goodness of God, had a slave who, in all circumstances would always say “my king, do not be discouraged, because everything God does is perfect. He makes no mistakes!”
One day they went hunting and along the way a wild animal attacked the king. His slave managed to kill the animal, but could not prevent his majesty from losing a finger.
Furious and without showing his gratitude for being saved, the nobleman asked "Is God good? If He was good, I would not have been attacked and lost my finger."
The slave replied, "My king, despite all these things, I can only tell you that God is good, and he knows why these things happened. What God does is perfect. He is never wrong!"
Outraged by the response, the king ordered the arrest of his slave.
Later, the King left for another hunt, this time alone. He was captured by savages who engaged in human sacrifices.
On the altar and ready to sacrifice the nobleman, the savages discovered that their victim did not have one of his fingers. According to them, only a whole person with all his/her parts intact could be offered to the gods.
The King without a finger was deemed an abominable sacrifice for their gods. So they released the King.
Upon his return to the palace, the King authorized the release of his slave. He received the slave affectionately. "God was really good to me! I was almost killed by the wild men, but for lack of a single finger, I was let go! But I have a question: if God is so good, why did he allow me to put you in jail?"
The slave answered, "my King, if I had gone with you on this hunt, I would have been sacrificed instead because I have no missing finger.
Remember everything God does is perfect. He is never wrong. He made you keep me in jail so I would not be with you on the hunt."

Often we complain about life, and negative things that happen to us, forgetting that nothing is random and that everything has a purpose.
Every morning, offer your day to God, don't be in a rush.
Ask God to inspire your thoughts, guide your actions, and ease your feelings. And do not be afraid. God is never wrong!

Day 3 of Novena to St Padre Pio:
Padre Pio had a strong desire to offer his sufferings for others.
This Lent, let's offer our Lenten sacrifices for others and for those in purgatory.

Novena to Reverse HHS Mandate: Day 8
Father,
Your Son Jesus Christ has taught us
that those who mourn over their sins
and over the evils in the world
are blessed indeed, and will be comforted. We come before You today
in that spirit of Christian mourning
over how far our nation’s policies
Have strayed from Your law
and from the respect for life and conscience
that every law should reflect. In the power of Your Spirit,
our mourning does not make us weak,
but rather renews our strength
to work for change.Enable us, then, to speak up
and educate our fellow citizens,
and to make our voices heard
to our elected officials.Reverse the unjust policies
that have been forced upon us,
and restore our nation
to the principles of freedom and justice
upon which it was founded. We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen

Novena to Reverse HHS Mandate: Day 9
God of our Fathers,
we thank You for our nation,
founded by those who believed in Your Word
and came to this land as if out of the desert
to seek a place of freedom and rest.We thank You for their conviction
that our rights come from You, our Creator,
and that government exists
to secure those rights,
and never to destroy or weaken them. Now that we face unjust mandates
that call upon us to violate our conscience,
we pray for Your protection.
Keep us faithful to You in our every deed.Grant that we may work for change
by being citizens who are active in the process
by which we elect our leaders.Grant that by our efforts to educate and mobilize voters,
we may replace public officials who ignore Your law
with those who observe it faithfully.
Bless our nation’s upcoming elections. As we rejoice that we are citizens of Your Kingdom,
so make us always faithful citizens on earth. We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Padre Pio felt drawn to the priesthood from an early age. He was ordained in 1910, after years of studying, when he was 23 years old.
Today let's pray for all priests, seminarians, and those who are discerning the religious life.
Here are the novena prayers for today:
O St. Pio, I come to you today knowing that you are truly a miracle worker. As one who is close to Jesus, I ask that you would pray for these my intentions:
(State your intentions here)
I pray with the words of Blessed Pope John Paul II as I beg for your prayers on my behalf:
"Glorious, humble and beloved Padre Pio. Teach us, we pray, humility of heart, so that we may be counted among the little ones of the Gospel to whom the Father promised to reveal the mysteries of His Kingdom. Help us to pray without ceasing, certain that God knows what we need even before we ask Him.
"Obtain for us the eyes of faith that will help us recognize in the poor and suffering, the very face of Jesus.
"Sustain us in the hour of trouble and trial and, if we fall, let us experience the joy of the sacrament of forgiveness. Grant us your tender devotion to Mary, mother of Jesus and our Mother.
"Accompany us on our earthly pilgrimage toward the blessed Homeland, where we too, hope to arrive to contemplate forever the Glory of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit."
Amen.
In closing, St. Padre Pio, we pray the prayer you composed for Confidence and Trust in God's Mercy:
"O Lord, we ask for a boundless confidence and trust in Your divine mercy, and the courage to accept the crosses and sufferings which bring immense goodness to our souls and that of Your Church.
Help us to love You with a pure and contrite heart, and to humble ourselves beneath Your cross, as we climb the mountain of holiness, carrying our cross that leads to heavenly glory.
May we receive You with great faith and love in Holy Communion, and allow You to act in us as You desire for your greater glory.
O Jesus, most adorable Heart and eternal fountain of Divine Love, may our prayer find favor before the Divine Majesty of Your heavenly Father."
Amen.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.
St. Padre Pio, Pray for us!
Amen.

Padre Pio is known for being a man of prayer. He prayed almost continuously.
In his actions and through his words, it was clear that Padre Pio placed God above everything else.
Let's pray that we may imitate his behavior in our own lives -- that we will give more of ourselves and our time to God.

Throughout his pontificate, Pope Pius XII pleaded for the faithful to gather together more often to pray as a community.
Padre Pio answered that plea, and encouraged others to do the same.
He once said, "Today's society does not pray, that is why it is falling apart."
Padre Pio promoted and supported the idea of prayer groups -- some of which still exist today.
So, as Jesus tells us He is present wherever two or three are gathered in His name, let's pray that we may be able to join others, particularly the Pray More Novenas community, in praying for their intentions.
Let's also pray for a greater commitment to prayer and a deeper Christian life.

"Dear Lord, thank You for all Your miracles, cures, treatments, and advances in modern medicines. Thank You for all the tests and treatments that You've used to extend my stay here with family and friends. Thank You for the Gift of Salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Please forgive me for all my sins - I am truly sorry for offending You, My God. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner. I pray of course for great results from tonight's MRI, but it it's not Your Will, please grant me the Grace to accept it and please continue to guide me, my family, and medical team so that Your Will is accomplished through me. I offer up all my sufferings for the intentions of my heart, which You know, Lord. All these things I pray for the Praise and Glory of Your Mighty Name. In Jesus' Mighty Name, I pray. Amen."

Good morning all,
Thanks so much for the warm welcome! I have so much peace in my heart from you all, I can't even begin to put it into words.
Yesterday's Gospel was about Jesus giving sight to a man blind from birth and the follow-up Homily discussed disease and tragedies are not hoisted upon us as punishment for our sins. This was so wonderful to hear...again and as a reminder.
Have a wonderful week.

Padre Pio spoke of humility often, and he practiced what he preached.
He said that God speaks to those who are humble at heart.
He said, "The Lord is willing to do great things but on the condition that we are truly humble."
Today, let's pray for us all to be more humble as Padre Pio was, so that God may work through us.

Today, on the eighth day of the Padre Pio Novena, let's pray that we may have the strength to not grow weary in our prayers.
Let's pray to have greater faith that God knows what we need even before we ask Him.
And finally, let's ask for greater trust in His responses to our prayers.

Even tho this chemo is rough on me the oncologist wants to stay the course since it's working. I say Thank You, Lord! She also managed to get FDA approval for my compassionate use of a treatment that's still in trials but it's for genetic breast cancers (Veliparib). I'm also still thinking of going back to the interventional radiologist to discuss chemoembolization, radioembolization, or stereotactic body radiation therapy. Thank You, Lord for my medical team! Please pray for guidance and if course God's Will. Thanks.

I don't usually get yesterday's bloodwork results so quickly, but the NP wanted me to see how good they are. The liver function numbers are down again! Thank You, Lord! Praise God!
Enjoying this beautiful morning - there's a gorgeous wild Tom turkey wandering around our yard. Sean saw him with all his feathers up but I missed it. Thank You, Lord, for Your wonderful creatures!
"The wolf shall dwell with the lamb,
and the leopard shall lie down with the kid,
and the calf and the lion and the fatling together,
and a little child shall lead them."

We made it to the last day of the novena!
Padre Pio lived for God alone. In doing so, he detached himself from the world, from pleasure, wealth and power.
As we finish this novena, let's pray that we may also practice detachment in our own lives, and attachment to God alone, especially this Lent.
(Hope you're looking forward to the next novena! It's going to be a big one!)

The Novena to St Padre Pio is done.
"At the end of every novena, we always pray the following as our final prayer. Please join me in praying it today!
Let us pray...
Dear Lord Jesus, I have specific requests that may only partially fill the infinite needs and desires that are in my heart. I ask that You answer me not only for those requests but also for a greater reliance on You to satisfy the needs and desires that You have given me.
Please grant the prayers of all those who prayed this novena with me. Bless them with Your love and make them holy!
May I seek You with a sincere heart knowing that it will profit me nothing if I gain the whole world yet lose my soul.
So, help me to see Your good and gracious purpose in all my trials. Help me to see Your blessings in every day and help me to love You more.
Thank You for everything, Lord Jesus!
Amen!"

Dear all,
I haven't posted here for a while, has anyone heard from FrankH ? He has been on this thread since Oct 2013.
0 -
It's been a long time since FrankH posted. He has in the past had times when he read without signing in and posting, hopefully this is one of those periods. I remember his reaction to the new wording of the Nicene Creed every time we get to that part of the Mass, and include him in my prayers.
