Thank you for the welcome & well wishes FeelingFeline and Elaine Therese!

Nancy, since you're in Grand Junction, I'll also add that I lived in Colorado Springs for about 14 yrs. As a matter of fact I currently work for a radio station there: KTLF light praise. It can be heard in Grand Junction as well on 93.7 should you ever want to tune in. I'm on from 5:30 - 9:00am MT. God bless you in this journey.

Hi! Had to share that Friday I met with my spiritual director and while there I told him about my cancer diagnosis, so he administered the Anointing of the Sick. Prior to that I received the Sacrament of Reconciliation. That night I slept for 7 consecutive hours!! That was like a mini miracle. For nearly 2 weeks I was getting just 3-4 hrs. of sleep each night. I'd go right to sleep and sleep 2-3 hrs. then wake up. I'd remain awake until about an hour before I had to wake for the morning. So, I'd squeeze in one more hour of sleep. I was becoming a zombie! I highly recommend receiving the Anointing of the Sick if you haven't!

    Smile

We had beautiful closing ceremonies for the end of the Year of Mercy. All day adoration, confessions and music in the church. There was gentle reflective music played throughout the day and music provided by youth group and choir in the evening.Steady stream of people throughout the day PP said, never less than 40 in the church. DD has ballet nearby so was able to do an hour at that time then brought her back over with me afterwards. She is not the contemplative sort but it is good for her to witness. Love when there is music in the church, turns a large, clattery, echoing space into a sacred space.

Good for you, RedemptiveSufferer! Sleep is SO precious. I have suffered from insomnia since the birth of my first child, nearly 18 years ago. If I get seven hours, I feel blessed.

feelingfeline, my church also has weird acoustics that produces a lot of echoing. Music and people make it such a warmer, more spiritual place.

FeelingFeline, that sounds utterly delightful. To the best of my knowledge there wasn't a parish in our area that did anything out of the ordinary. Some of my ancestors came to America from Ireland and one day I plan to visit; I look forward to seeing the country's beauty, which includes all of the old Catholic churches.

Elaine Therese, I'm sorry you've suffered with insomnia for so long! I'm sure you've tried various sleeping aids and either they didn't work or you didn't like the way they made you feel. You must be Wonder Woman to function on so little sleep. Wish I could get by consistently on less than 6 hours, I'd get so much more accomplished!

    Smile

Feelingfeline and all of my sister Catholics I need a few prayers as I have been dealing w/lung mets and now maybe progressed to other places . My pulmonologist has scheduled a PET Scan base of skull to knees for next week Feb 1st. I have had shortess of breath and then wheezing since October now. CT shows expanded area in left lung- more scattered stuff in right lung which began w/radiation damage. I have had a paralzed right arm with severe pain arm and shoulder which I finally saw an Acupuncture specialist w/really good results.

Anyway the breathing gets worse and the inhaler does not help. My PFTs are very low but my O2 Sats are close to normal - never smoked a day in my life and at 69 am leading a very non productive life in an " Independent Care Facility " . I do try to help others as much as I can as my nursing background helps sometimes. I know prayer is THE best answer trust The Lord to see me through -I am also very practical so got my stuff in order a long time ago. I have not been on the forum for quite some time as I had so many changes last year -moved, gave my car to my son , changed doctors Am currently not on any chemo drugs and hoping not to do anymore . I still pray the Novena and make new friends here.

    Welcome, Ronnie!

GrammyR, I will be praying for you! While I hear what you're saying, please don't think you're leading a "non-productive life." Sounds like you're helping those around you and no doubt you're praying for others in your midst and that is HUGE! Just think, they may have no one else to pray for them. Your life is full of meaning and worth. Glad to hear your visits with the acupuncturist brought positive results. Please keep us posted with your test results.

    GrammyR,

I light a candle every week for my BC.org sisters; I will remember you especially tomorrow at Mass. Sorry to hear about your breathing issues; hope your PET scan goes well.

    Welcome, Ronnie!

Something I did recently, I probably need to darken it a bit. The art isn't really this gold it's just I'm a lousy picture taker. My wife's condition below.

Mike, that is beautiful! Would certainly be lovely as stained glass. How large is it and where do you have it displayed? I pray that your wife is currently feeling well and feels the peace of God. ~ Kim

    Mike. Beautiful.

    Just a thought

Have you ever had your art seen by a Christian/Catholic art publisher?

This article mentions several Christian (rather than Catholic) art publishers working in the American market. ARTICLE LINK IS HERE

There are also online houses which carry work on demand for print - you could get it photographed high res.

I know you have your hands full with helping your wife but it might be something you would consider at some stage.

It's too good not to share Nerdy

Thanks for the thought and info Feelingfeline. IRISH my dad's family came from Ireland when he was little. I guess Walsh is a common Irish name. I am a combat wounded veteran and as such get VA disability. As such I am not allowed to work or make any money otherwise I forfeit my disability. I just enjoy doing my art, it relaxes me especially all this cancer turmoil.

Mike, your work is absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing with us!! Hopefully it's at least displayed in your home for all to see...maybe on a home altar? Maybe your pictures (if you have black and whites) could be assembled in a coloring book. You know how adults are into coloring now :-) Even if you couldn't make money from the endeavor, maybe your parish could use them in this way and would pay for the printing. Just a thought. Glad you're using the talents God has given you and that focusing on art brings you comfort!

GrammyR, I will pray for you and that your pain lessens. Your lung issues seem daunting.

I came home today from lots of testing with an oxygen machine and my husband is on oxygen too, so there is tubing snaking all over, but the oxygen does make me feel better. Odd that you saturation is good with all your lung involvement. Does you receive medical care in your facility? My daughter is in a nearby nursing home and receives good care there, albeit she is one of their more complex patients. There is fragrance amidst the rose thorns.

My name is Nancy, and I am 67. Nice to meet you, GrannyR. Praying for comfort for you. And that your pain can be borne.

Nancyartcra- thank you -so sorry your hubby having to be on oxygen now and best wishes to daughter too -some families just seem to have to go thru so much.

I was told by pulmonologist that indeed there is a small cancerous area in my left lung -the right one is heavily damaged from radiation in 2013 -which he states has worsened again . So we decided not to biopsy right now but wait another 3 months (since it is very risky procedure) He put me on Advair inhaler twice a day which has a small amount of steroid in it which improved my breathing a lot-I also bought a finger 02 device to check my own levels when breathing gets bad. Interestingly he thinks it a type of primary lung cancer not related to breast cancer -either way I am not jumping into more chemo at the moment and just treating the symptome -if I do get a lung biopsy I will have it done at the better facility -AND I NEVER SMOKED in my life -go figure . Anyway I pray and try to get weekly communion - I live under his guidance !

Nancy and GrammyR -- I pray that both of you are breathing easier these days. I'm glad to hear you're taking your time re: the biopsy, GrammyR. It might be nice to know right now what kind of cancer it is, but it sounds like it's the kind of procedure you need to plan carefully. Peace to you both!
