I ask your prayers for my brother. He lives in California, at the lower end of the income distribution. He has had multiple problems with respiratory illness in his lifetime, He is seventy, a year younger than me. I am obsessively praying for him and for all people who are high risk if they get C'19. Today is the birthday of our sister, ten years younger than us, who died in an auto accident two years ago. I am not in a good place right now.

MC sorry to hear of the worries you have for your dear brother. It is indeed an anxious time for so many people right now. Sometimes repeating a very simple prayer like "Most sacred heart of Jesus I place all my trust in thee" brings me comfort when I am anxious. I hope you can find a prayer that brings comfort. Reading the Gospels can also really lift the soul at an anxious time (sure you know this)

Thank you. I put it in God's hands, and had a good night's sleep past night. He lives a few blocks from a monastery, and he has a good relationship with their brewers, so there is that, in terms of spiritual support if he feels the need.

Hi Superius, we are under partial lock-down in Republic of Ireland since Thur. Most public events like concerts, matches, parades etc had already been cancelled by then anyway. The new directive closed all schools and colleges, clubs, public buildings, etc and mandated home working (a lot of which had already been taking place anyway) where possible and where people have to attend a physical workplace breaks to be staggered and no physical meetings to take place. Income support was already in place for all people who have to quarantine themselve because of contact with a case. We are expecting a full lock-down in the near future. DD is going to school over the internet, the teachers are teaching from their own homes via an app that the class logs into. They even had both art and PE (normally very practical subjects) over the internet. Mass and all parish events are cancelled but thankfully there are plenty of opportunities for mass online or on radio etc. Strange times but worth it to save lives and stem the tide of this horrible virus.

I don't know how crowded Sunday Mass will be, will see this Sunday. We have a Tuesday 5:30 Mass that is lightly attended, if necessary I will just go to Tuesday Mass. I suspect that they will shut down all unnecessary traffic within VA hospital, so that eliminates another opportunity for Mass-- at 2:00. Otherwise I will have to get dressed and out of the house at 7:45 for daily Mass.
Ambulance here. I know one neighbor who is doing very poorly. ETA: No, not her.

No stretcher. The situation next door-- they have called before. She has serious physical limitations. He takes care of her. She calls whenever he has any pain, scared that he will go first. They need prayers.

I prefer St. Zelie Martin as patron saint for breast cancer. That is a beautiful psalm for times like these, 51 is mine for ordinary times. The ambulance is back. They are taking her to the hospital.
I was obsessing on the bit of a sore throat I have, so I went to the gym, it was real quiet. Then I came home and used the scooter to take Tippy for a long walk.
Talked with the woman I go to Mass with on Sunday, and we can raid Wal-Mart after Mass.

There was a long announcement from the Bishop about changes to prevent transmission at Mass on Sunday. I pointed out to my friend that the railings on the back of the pews are rich with germs, and I challenge anyone to participate in an entire mass without touching them.
There was another announcement from the Bishop to the parish priests circulating on the local pages yesterday, saying that of this Sunday there are to be no more public Masses for the duration. I will need to go to EWTN for daily Mass, then. Hope their website doesn't crash. I will be looking for other sites that have daily Mass.

MCBaker you can also check your diocese - here is San Diego, the diocese has Mass online, but also different parishes - my church has daily Mass and weekend Mass online. And other churches & dioceses as well. Orange County, from Christ Cathedral (formally Crystal cathedral) has been streaming their weekend Masses (English, Spanish, Vietnamese). And if anyone know French, KTOTV has Masses & other liturgies on YouTube.

Despite the coronavirus, we still have Eucharistic Adoration and Confession in our parish. I do EA on Wednesdays. My daughter went to Saturday confession and there was a line. The staff placed a line of chairs, six feet apart, so people could sit and wait.

I will post a picture of Br. Richard Hendrick OFM Cap. He was one of my son's teachers on Catholic Foundational Leadership, a Catholic Youth Leaders course. Br. Richard has written many beautiful poems which he posts on facebook regularly and also on the Irish Capuchins website, but this one has been shared by so many people it has gone all over the world and an animator has made a lovely video of it.
