    IHi Ladies,

I am posting this here too, as I am hoping for some ideas from all my ladies...

If someone has High Cholesterol... changes diet and looses the 10pds a doctor wants them to loose ( in three months time) and then re checks the Cholesterol... and it is even a little higher... is this a HORRID thing to hear? My hubby and I seem to have gotten HIT these past two years. We are the oldest siblings in our families and have NO one to ask these things to but a doctor.

Hubby is 43 and in great shape.. eats good... blah. anyway... they want to start him on Cholesterol meds and do a heart scan next week... checking his heart and valves...:(... HE ONLY went in for his yearly check in Feb. and all this comes...:(...

I am scared. There is heart trouble in his mom and dads family..:( I suppose we keep being blessed that he and I are finding these things early, as we are pro-active in our health. I got him to go yearly to his doc for check-ups at age 40.

Anyway... my butt is draggin' over here in EsteppVille and I am scared. Can anyone tell me what they know about these kinds of things?

    Love... Laura

    Hi Laura (I'm ba-a-ack),

I have a friend who is really pretty young (in her late 30s) who has very high cholesterol. She's been trying to avoid going on meds for a while. Last year she went vegetarian, and now she's on the verge of going vegan. I don't know how that's going to make a difference, but she thinks it will.

What I do know is that this is an inherited trait in people. That some people just make a lot of bad cholesterol in their bodies. I guess you have to look into what things you eat go into making it (it's not just saturated fats) and put them on the "things to avoid" list. From my friend's decision, it sounds like all dairy has to go.

And...time to start another Novena. I'll be back to do that tomorrow!

Just a quick update on my aunt. She's still in rehab, but has improved to the use of a walker. She will be discharged this Saturday, and I will probably stay a couple of days with her to help set up home services.

Some of us went down yesterday and moved furniture around to make her apartment walker-accessible. We also found that she had stored all her food in closets and drawers thinking that would keep it away from the roaches that she saw in the kitchen. LOL. That just drew the bugs into those areas. So we set up a bug-proof food storage system in the kitchen and moved the food back in there.

I bought her a small microwave, which will be easy to use. She has to consume more calories, as she was under 90 pounds (she's small-framed but this was still underweight), so perhaps having the ability to make quick, nourishing meals will inspire her to eat better. I'll stock her freezer with some good, frozen dinners.

And we called her landlord about some problems in the apartment. The kitchen is very old...the sink and cabinets are the originals from 1940. Only the refrigerator and stove have been updated. But even then, they're about 20-30 years old. The refrigerator gaskets are shot, so we're asking the landlord to replace it. If he won't, we will (but we didn't tell him that.)

I could go on about the problems there, but I said this would be quick. So, suffice it to say that my aunt is more than eccentric. I hope this accident give us a chance to help her more.

    Hi Ladies!

Think of you and continue to pray for all of you!

Tough week this past week....my MIL died this past Monday....she was a beloved Matriarch!  She lived a good long life...95 years old! My DH would visit her 3x's a week in the nursing home, and every holiday for the last 7 years was spent with her there, too!

We kept vigil last weekend with her, and was with her as she died. It was tough for both of us, but my husband especially of course, as he was so devoted to her!

I wil share with you that as I knew she was struggling to breathe I took out my rosaries and prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet which is a most powerful prayer, especially if said over the dying, and when the very last syllable of this prayer was recited she left us!  God is soooo merciful!  He promised great mercy for any one who was prayed over with this prayer at the time of death, and I know my MIL was openly receieved into our Saviour's arms because of it!

Family came in from several states....we were surrounded by her 3 sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren! I know she must have been so happy to see us all together to pray her to heaven!  2 priest friends of DH and mine celebrated the liturgy so it was extra special!

It will be different type of Mother's Day next week....but blessings and prayers go out to all mom's here and your Mom's too!

    God Bless!

Oh Angel, How beautiful your story.  .. The divine Mercy Chaplet... I was so devoted to this for about two years... and I am so sad to say, I do not do this now. I find myself so tied up with everybody else.. all the time.. that I have lost SO much in my prayer life I loved. At 3pm, EWTN radio had the best singing DMC. I used to pray it in song.

I HAVE to get back to my faith.

God rest the soul of your M-i-l. Rest in Peace.

Laura, She's lived in the building for seventy years. (She was nine when they moved there). I don't think she would leave, unless it really became a situation where she was bedridden or needed fulltime care.

Hi sisters!  I continue to pray for you all daily but lately have only had time to pop in and read more than post.  Just busy, busy...back to work 4 hours/day, enjoying extra time with our 4-year-old grandson, taking care of my dad (Alzheimer's) since none of my siblings help (but thank goodness one of his sisters does!), DH still off work recuperating from shoulder surgery, sibling issues, and just life in general...you all know how it is.  Anyway...just want you all to know I keep you and your intentions in my prayers.

Laura, I'll definitely add Kittycat to my prayer list.  How'd your DH's tests come out?

God bless each and every one of you!

Oh my goodness....A Catholic Thread???  Hooray!!!

I pray the rosary with my children every morning and I sing the Divine Mercy Chaplet most days around 3 p.m.

I will definitely be visiting this thread quite often.

Unite your suffering with Jesus and not only will you save many souls through your suffering, you will be lifted up by Jesus himself.....and don't forget our Dear St. Therese the little flower.  She is a doctor of the church.

    Much love,

    Anne

    Welcome Anne

I continue to pray the rosary each day for all of us.  In March I attended a healing mass and got a wonderful bracelet.  It is a freshwater preal bracelet that is a decade of the rosary.  I wear it all the time.  It is very handy. I can slide it off my wrist and pray at any time and any place.  Without it I always have trouble keeping count!

    Good nght ladies.

Ladies, It is so hard to see all these newly dx. Linda54 told us that Earleen ( a 3D tatoo artist that has done a lot of BCO ladies tats) sister was dx today. So much BC. THERE HAS to be a logical reason for this. GOD I pray someone finds this reason. There are just too many of us. It is truly astounding. Father, please hear my prayer.

Anne! Welcome!  I am in the city! Perhaps you could join the NY get together's a grop of us do every couple of months!
