Barsco, so happy to hear lumpy was B9! A stressful ordeal and you handled it with nary a whimper. You deserve some morales!
I did postpone one doctor's appointment, but kept the one Friday with my BS. Since I'm on annual mammos now, I do like going to see him to get a manual checkup while I wait for the annual smash up. Although I'm hoping for a breast MRI, this will be the first one so they won't have any priors to go by and I'm not sure how that will work out.
Elimar - hope you are feeling okay but I imagine this is the hardest part. Sounds like you had a wonderful Mother's Day, so way to celebrate the day before chemo day!
We are having a beautiful spring here - hope everyone else is, too!
I love wildflowers! I remember Lady Bird Johnson's mission as First Lady was to plant wildflowers along the interstate system - beautiful!

Barsco- Great news !!!!!
My computer was in the shop for almost a week. I have been lost without it. I will have to read and catch up. I hope everyone is doing great.

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. Couldn't have done so well without all of you in my pockets! I'm hoping that I find those morales this weekend. The weather is just about right for them to appear!
hns - I love the flowers along the Interstate. Would certainly make the drive much more enjoyable.

Hns, sometimes we have flowers along the highway...we call those guys dandies lol. I had a glowing boob MRI, felt like I was Katie Perry ).
It's still cold over here! Jo0 -
barsco, such happy news!!!!
LOL about the treats on the right, I had to go back and look.
I'll have to check out the AJ thread. I've all ready had a couple of discussions with friends. So it has people thinking and asking questions. But I agree, she certainly has better resources than most everybody.
will be with you, hns, for your check up.
having fun with my DD.

I woke up today with a touch of the old hand/foot syndrome. That's from the flourouracil I'm on. I just have the redness so far and the balls of my feet hurt a little to walk on them. So, I read that a soaking in cool water and help. Haha! The cold sensitivity I get with my other drug (oxaliplatin) would never allow me to do that. Figures that this would get all tricky!
Here I am 1/4 into the chemo (3 down, 9 bad boys to go) and I have already had a slight reduction on the oxaliplatin and now may need some tweaking on the flourouracil as well. Before anyone thinks I am a chemo lightweight, I should say that with the oxaliplatin, the toxicity is so well known and prevalent that a good number of folks have that ingredient cut from the cocktail long before the 12 cycles are over, so don't bust me if i don't go the distance on that one.
Last time, with my neoadjuvant chemo/rads I tried to "hang tough" and I was all the way to a grade III toxicity before I was saying, "I don't think I can do this." I am NOT letting it get that bad again. I have been really keeping track of every S/E and their severity in the hopes that my going over the edge can be prevented this time around.
I'm keeping an eye on some low B/P also. I am having a real battle at trying to stay hydrated. What with cold liquids causing me problems and a decommissioned colon, I can't seem to get enough liquid in. I got a hydration infusion yesterday and my B/P came back up. This could be a problem going into the summer months.
Enough about that. I have the other usual stuff happening, like a graduation party to go to this weekend. My WBC's haven't tanked yet, so may as well go out amongst people til they do.
p.s. So, HnS, you can take that as a yes, I will be along on the PP tomorrow.

My daughter is 35 and has 3 kids. She found some swollen nodes under her arm and has been having some nipple pain. She went to the doctor that she was assigned to (husband is military) and she told him of my history, gave him a copy of my ugly path report, and told him that BC is on her fathers side as well. He totally blew her off because of her age. She went over his head and is now being scheduled for a breast mri and genetic testing. Why do some doctors want to wait for a certain age when there is already a family history. Pisses me off. I am glad she doesn't give up easily. I am so terrified that I might have passed this on to her. It would totally put me ove the edge.
Eli-do you have an end date for your chemo? I had it marked on my calendar.
Did anyone have high cholesterol after chemo? Mine was 243 at the end of January. I started eating oatmeal, cheerios, and stopped eating red meat. I just had it tested and it was 216, so I still have to work at getting it under 200. I have also went from 124 lbs to 136. Not too happy with that part. I really don't eat a lot so I just don't get it.
Meeting with my team of surgeons on Tuesday to schedule my exchange and Oophorectomy. I will admit I am nervous having to have another surgery. I am looking forward to some softer boobs though. For those who have had the Oophorectomy, how bad was it????

Eph - crunchy cheetos are my FAV!
Eli - I am pretty sure that no one here would ever consider you a chemo lightweight. I hope that you get through the next 9 rounds without too much trouble. How about room temperature drinks (water, juice etc) I know a cold drink tastes much better, especially in the warmer weather, but you don't want dehydration on top of everything else.
HNS - I took the day off tomorrow just so I could jump into your pocket and hang out with you.
Ronnie - I'll take a B9 boost over the B12 any day!

Hey ladies! Looking forward to the pocket party tomorrow! What shall we have? Let's see, the appointment is at 2:30 - I don't think that's too early to start drinking, right? Ugh, for these kind of things I'd like to have a drink BEFORE. I wonder what doctors do if they smell alcohol on your breath?
All I hope to get out of this is him being happy with whatever he feels and NOT making me go get a mammogram. That is my wish!
I just hope it comes true on a "Wishig Star"...

I'll make the same wish for you, HNS.
0 -
HNS - May all of your wishes come true today. I can come a bit early with a drink for you - Vodka is not easily detected through sense of smell. If I were a drinker in real life this would be one of my favorite vodka drinks - The Almighty Ceaser! It is a drink and a meal all in one. Hope you like them too.

Is that salmon and a green bean?
0 -
It does look like a piece of smoked salmon. Sorry about the smell - that's to throw the dr off of any alcohol smell that may be looming. And yes that is a green bean which is most likely pickled and spicy. I prefer my ceaser with just a lemon wedge, a stalk of celery and perhaps a shrimp hanging on the side.

Do you remember the first part of the movie "Pretty Woman" where the roommate goes to a bar and grabs a bunch of drink garnishes to eat becaus eshe can't afford food?
0 -
I am not so good at movie details. I watch a movie - I usally very quickly forget about a lot of what happens except the main story line. This way when I watch a movie over again, it's like watching it for the first time. lol Maybe it's time to watch Pretty Woman again.

Oh look, barcso made lunch. If there's nothing falling off the skewers, then it's a well-balanced diet!
Good Luck, HnS! I'll be wishing that there'll be no squishing.
0 -
HNS - here's to no squishing today and only blah-blah-blah results. I'm in for drinks too but not sure about lunch in a drink. I bet they've smelled plenty of alcohol breaths b4 but then they might not let you drive yourself back home.

Just bring me the vodka with some soda & cranberry juice please. I'll get my well-balanced diet with a cheeseburger, fries & chocolate shake!!! (E, you may be feeling a bit ehhhh, but your humor still rages on! You go girl!)
