I cut my dose in half.  Once I started cleaning out my kitchen cupboards, doing laundry, weeding, worked on reports Friday - Sunday, and didn't eat dessert at a graduation party, I figured I don't need that much energy....

MinusTwo, Had another infusion yesterday and tip of tongue a bit numb, lips also.  But I am pretty sure mine is from the oxaliplatin, which is not a B/C drug.  Maybe all the platinum-based ones are similar.  My chemo has just started giving me visual impairment.  When I stand up, I am not light-headed, but will get some peripheral blackness for a few seconds.  A bit like tunnel vision before fainting, but spottier, and I don't feel faint.  More weirdness.

jlbloom, welcome!  I do hope that you Onco score comes back with results conclusive enough to help you decide.  While the OncoDx is a well touted decision making tool, I have noticed that many, expecially Grade 2 people, will get a score in the high teens and twenties which, in itself, is a gray area.  The thing about extra-nodal expension is that cancer was growing on the outside of the node.  Did it go beyond that, who knows.  That is the big question mark.  (I am going thru' similar right now, for colorectal, and I am having chemo; I had rads before surgery but I still had active cancer present in some of the removed nodes, so on to the chemo.)  I don't expect or want my experience to lead you one way of the other, but even with your Onco score it is no easy decision.  Work real hard to get the full info. from the docs (and other sources, as you feel comfortable with) because it will help you feel better about the decision you finally do arrive at.  Lots of women on here had their recon months later.  I don't know if immed. or waiting is better, they are just different.

Gma04,  What chemo will you be doing?  I will tell you this:  Just thank your lucky stars that you are not sickly, because surgery and chemo does take a toll on your body and the healthier you are going in, the more chance to hold up well under it all and hopefully a quicker time to rebound once you are finished.  Good to hear you have support at home.  I can't help with the foob question, but you should hear from a few who can.  When you get a chance, fill in your Dx on your profile.  Welcome!

HnS76, Could be the Tamox., but don't rule out all the maximum, rockin' concert decibels either.  It catches up with ya in middle-age.

    OPPORTUNITY OF A LIFETIME!

In looking ahead, it won't be too long before we reach a big thread milestone of 25,000 posts, just about 500 more to go.  Also, in the not too distant future will be the 4 year thread anniv. (Aug 22.)  As per tradition, I am sure we will have a fun "thread party" and in the past I have come up with some themes, like picnic pool party, sleepover, fantasy cruise, etc.  I won't say my brain has run out of ideas (oh, it hasn't...it will take something stronger than chemo to stop me) but I would like to hear some of YOUR ideas for a theme.  Send a PM my way, if you have a desire for a certain theme.  It's not exactly voting, but if several think of the same thing, we will probably go with that, and no hard feelings if it is different than your own suggestion.  You never know, we might even have a theme mash-up.  Theme(s) will be unveiled when the time is right, but

THE "PARTY THEME" SUGGESTION BOX IS OPEN NOW.

Remember how we like to augment with pictures, so "alternate universe' would be quite challenging.  Now I didn't say undoable, I just said challenging.  Wink

Gma welcome from another Texas gal.  Where are you from.  Glad you found us here, it is a great group.

I have a age related question not bc.  I am turning 51 on the 19th.  So far none of my bdays have bothered me.  I have flown by all of them without much of a thought.  But there is something about this 51 I am not liking.  I think I feel like it sounds like I am on the downside of life.  I duh know just weird for me to think about my age.  I think it is the sound of the age more than anything because I feel pretty darn good.  I feel like cancer is pretty much behind me and I am really enjoying life.  Anyone else have these weird birthday age things?

Dianarose-how did your PS appt go?

Gma04 - I was able to get a right foob at the same place I get compression sleeves/gloves for my lymphedema. Insurance pays for a new one every 2 years and they also fit you for bras with pockets to insert it. The bras are covered under insurance also. It is my understanding that insurance has to cover these items after a mastectomy. There are many stores that fit you for mastectomy products. Hopefully you can Google one in your area. Wishing you strength as you go through chemo and beyond. Hugs.

    Sherry ~ not strange. 26, 31, 36, 41, and 46 bothered me. In my 50's none do.

Chickydee, welcome, and thanks for providing some foob info.

Sherryc, I wasn't bothered by the -9's or the -'0's either.  Yes, the -1's kind of hit me, but for me after I pass the -5's of a decade it kind of seems like a downhill slide to the next decade, so by the time I get there, I am almost over it.  Now go on with your Boot Camp self!!!

Welcome Gma and Chickydee - lost of great fun, women, wine, and even song when you hang with the middies. Of course we do have a serious side also but like to infuse a bit of laughter along the way. Cuz if we don't laugh.........

Sherry - I found that at 40 I was ok - turning 41 got me because I was then OVER 40. Strange but true. I will be turning 50 in Oct and am planning a big party with help from DH. Have never thrown myself a party - really just look at it as another day. So, I figure it's about time!!

Eli - will have to think on the theme party. Not really imaginative that way, but I am sure I can help out with the party favours and food once a decision is made!!

Well you beautiful ladies were here when they told me I was stage I and again when it changed to stage IIIc. I found out yesterday I am now stage IV. Totally beside myself. I can't seem to get my shit together long enough to do anything but have another melt down. I had them take my ovaries for a precation. MO said it wasn't needed as the PET was fine. Quess what, one of them is not fine. Path report showed Lobular in one ovary and one tube. The report doesn't have any other info other than 100% er and pr positive along with a change. The Her2 is now positive. Not sure what that means. Does anyone know. The breast tissue was Her2-. I meet with the MO tomorrow. I am so not up to starting this shit all over again.

Barsco- thank you for letting me cry on your shoulder. You must be drenched.

Dianarose, I have always been secretly worried for you because your cancer was so all over the place in terms of your Dx.  Is the ovary and tube the only place something was found?  I have heard that B/C can have mets that sometimes do develope the HER2+.  Don't know why that is or happens.  Have they mentioned more chemo, or doing the Herceptin?  I probably shouldn't even ask you questions yet while your head must be spinning, along with the rest of you, and probably in two opposite directions.  I was so happy for you, with you taking the big step to open your own bakery.  I am devastated to hear of this crushing news.  We all are.

Elimar- I am confused with this path report. It says Sections show that one of the ovaries is invloved with tumor. The fallopian tubes show one tube that has tumor infilrating into the pertiubal tissue. Then under Gross description it says, Upon sectioning through the ovaries and fallopian tubes, they have a soft consistency. There are no discrete lesions identified within the ovaries. Need help with this one.

I am still going to open the bakery, dam it. I figure I still have to work somewhere, right?

Dianarose - Eli is so eloquent and I feel speechless at this point. Know that my prayers are with you as you make decisions about your treatments. I, too, have read of mets that do change from HER neg to pos or vice versa. Get your yellow legal pad out and fill it with questions for MO tomorrow. What time sweetie so I can say a special prayer for you.

I agree with your confusion. All the more reason to hit MO with all you've got tomorrow.

Diana, you are still the Queen of Tarts. What a motherfucker this disease is. Please let us know what the MO has to say about this development. I am, however, so glad you insisted on getting them out. With the ovaries, sooner is definitely better than later for finding unruly cells.

Luvmygoats- My appointment is at 10. I am thinking I want a different lab to do it again and with more details, like grade for starters and maybe the size of the cancer and how involved it was. WTF

Momine- f'n lobular doesn't show up on the dam scans. Little bastards.

Dianarose, count me in the speechless group! Your news is so not cool or awesome or any of the wonderful adjectives we used just last week re: the bakery.  At 10 your time, I'm out walking the dog, so will add special prayers for you then, as well as now!

D-rose, When has your path report ever NOT been confusing?  I was just guessing that since it is lobular (and can form in layers, for lack of a better description) that you just had a mush of cells in the ovary.  It sounds sneaky and nasty.  I agree with Goatsy, you need to get all those questions answered.  The idea for second opinion can't hurt either, as you have been so darn complicated from the get-go.  Yes, my thoughts will be on you tomorrow morning and let us know what it all means and what comes next.

Dianarose.....I don't post often (not much to add) but have been following this thread for some time.  I was SO excited about your new venture with the bakery!  I don't usually cuss.....but #$%#$%# this BC sucks!!!!  I will be praying for you and expecially tomorrow when you have your appt.  FYI:  there is another thread: "Triple Positive Group" in the HER2 pos/neu group that has some awesom ladies there who would be very informative for all you HER2 + questions.  I follow them too but don't post often as I haven't (yet) had the experience of chemo/Herceptin/rads.

This IS my favorite thread to keep coming back to because of the love, laughter and positive attitudes.  God bless you all!

Update on me:  Had my DIEP 11/09/12 and am scheduled for Stage II (nipples -yeah! and some lipo fill for contouring) in October.  My scans have been good except last CT gave my MO reason to order an MRI for my pancreas (next Tues)....not really worried yet because I've been down that road before.....but as Tues approaches????

    elimar Member Posts: 5,885

Glad to hear of your update on the surgery, Chachamom, and drop in anytime.  I think you are right to not let the pancreas get to you at this point.  My MO told me once that organs like the liver are "dynamic" and just go through their own weird changes, B9 ones; but let us know the results anyway.

Oh, Momine!  What dock have you been working on this afternoon?  SurprisedWink  A true enough statement, however.

Thanks, Eli!  I love your posts and have the greatest admiration for you!

Gma.....do you know what size a foob you need.  I have a size 5 "Nature-Lite" by Amoena I be glad to donate if anyone can use it.......don't really want a souvenier of that part of this journey.  Wink

Eli- why can't anything to do with me just be simple. I emailed a copy to my daughter at the military hospital where she works and she is on it with the doc's there. She finally made her appointment for genetic testing today.

I think we should have bloody Mary's in the morning. The celery must be good for us somehow. I will wear pants with big pockets. There might be so many of us that we need a cute server.

Chachamom- Nipples, lucky you!!! I will get mine tattooed in a few months. They are sort of on the back burner for now.

Dianarose - not much more to add except that I am sure you will feel quite a bit of jiggling in your pockets tomorrow as we will all be trying to ensure that the MO is answering all of the questions that you have. Ain't nobody gonna dismiss our sister before we are ALL satisfied! And no worries about the soggy shoulders, I had them out in the sunshine drying out ready for another round whenever needed.

chacha - good to hear from you. As host of the PP next Tues. you can make requests as to what you would like us to bring regarding food, drink or even servers if you like.

Diana - WTF!?!  All I can say is that I'm SO GLAD you happened to have made the decision to get your ovaries removed, because otherwise those f**kers would still be in there growing!  I hate, hate, hate sneaky cancer!

We will definitely be with you in the morning and I'm sure your daughter will help you come up with some good questions - your path is so confusing.  I hope you don't have to start chemo again - maybe you can get by with Herceptin alone.  I do know some ladies do nothing but Herceptin but I don't know what the SEs are like.  That was a good suggestion by Chachamom to check out the Triple Positive thread.

I love Bloody Mary's in the morning! Zing Zang Bloody Mary mix is the best I've found - that should get us through the morning!
