E, have you tried Biotin mouthwash? That was recommended to me back in '09, I bought it & never had to use it so I can't say if it works for sure.

I had pages to read.  Welcome to all the newbies. Sorry you all have had to join us here.

Queen of Hearts-love that name and congrats on getting that bakery going.  It won't be long.  Are you having implants put in on the 5th or are you have DIEP I can't remember.

Went to West Texas over memorial day to see my GD in her dance recital she did so good she did not miss a beat.  this past weekend DH and I went to San Antonio to the River Walk.  Was nice to have a get a way.  I had found a groupon a few months back and got a really good deal at the Doubletree, two river barge tour tickets and breakfast.  Ate at a really nice restrauant and just enjoyed each others company without the distractions of life. Did not realize George Strait was having his farewell concert and they sold 72,000 to the Alamodome.  Lot's of people moving around and the traffic was horrible.  Thank goodness we had a shuttle at our hotel.

Here is a picture of me and my granddaughter

Barsco: hope all went well with scan!

Diana: Great news about the stove!

Eli: I used Biotin and it helped a lot. I didn't have pain per se.. but the dryness was a problem and since most mouthwashes contain alcohol, Biotin was a mouthsaver.

Sherry: That is a beautiful picture!! I am glad you had a great trip!

I am once again... hitting the phones to get repairs on the house done. I need a good electrician and a plumber. I swear if it isn't one thing... I just hope that it isn't gonna be cost prohibitive to get the repairs done. Half of my kitchen is without power, and just found that the drain from the washer and possibly the kitchen sink and DW is busted and flooding the crawl space under my house.. I needed a video of me suited up in 90 degree heat with long pants, long sleeves, insect repellent, a flashlight and a cane.. heading under the house to see the damage. I can remember when that little activity would not have taken all day... sigh..

Thanks for the support ladies. I am by nature not one to worry until there is something to worry about. Don't get me wrong, I do get anxious at times. I guess having good scans since day one has helped to minimize the fear. However, my dr office left a msg for me to call and get results. They usually leave a message saying all is good. Hmmmmmm, now I am starting to get a bit anxious. Have to wait until tomorrow now.

Sherry - what a beautiful pic of you and your GD.

cmharris - sure hope that you can get that leak fixed without too much hassle or moolah slipping away from your pocket book.

barsco - even when you're a little anxious, you're still calm, lol.  I bet the person who left the message wasn't even paying attention to what she was saying.

CMH - yes, I remember the good old days when I would just go check out something when it crossed my mind, done in a minute.  Now it's an all day affair.  All of us should probably have someone videotape us - AFV Gold!

Sherry - what a beautiful little ballerina... with a hot grandma!  You look great - and coordinated!  With that boot camp you do, you are probably NOT "America's Funniest Videos" Gold.

luv - I have to hope the baby hawk is doing well.  He was off the perch we made the next day and the parents aren't screeching so I guess that's a good sign.

Eli - I agree with luv on that post you made.  It's practically poetic!  Maybe you should jump straight to the Magic Mouthwash.  You know your mouth has found the shortcut to trouble.

    Barsco,

    Yeah, its me, back again.

Try not to freak. My experience is that if there is something serious going on the doctor calls you themselves. The person calling may not have known it was permisable to leave a message on your machine, especially if it was a new nurse you don't know well or that is just extra careful about that stuff.

I find it highly unlikely that a doctor, any doctor, would allow anyone but themselves to give you bad scan results over the phone. That is simply not done as patients have questions. It is pretty much universal practice that your doctor would be calling him/her self if a scan result was bad.

IF it does turn out to be bad news, which I really doubt, then you need to wag your finger at your doctor because that behavior is pretty unprofessional.

    Good luck!

Thanks DG - I did think of the possibility that the nurse may not have read that it's ok to leave a message and that the dr would likely be the one to call if it was bad news. I think that is what is keeping me on my chair. I remember the day when she called me to advise me of the mets - and thinking that I don't want to see her name come up on my call display EVER again.

I am going to call this morning and start the phone tag game as I will be at work and it isn't always possible to get through to the nurse right away. Will keep you posted!

barsco hope for good resuslts on your scans.  Keep us posted.

Thanks ladies for the nice comments.  I do have a beautiful granddaughter and lucky my son is an investigator with DPS.  hehe.  He tells her she is not going to date until she is 30 and he will have checked them out.  Of course she rolls her eyes at him and then gives him this beautiful smile.

cmharris hope your estimates are not too high.  I live in a house that was built in 1884 so I understand how those maintenance things can be.  It is always something.

1884! Good workmanship.  My house built in 1977 will not still be standing when it's 130 yrs old I'm sure.

My house was built in 1914 or was it 1916? I need to look. Can't believe I have forgotten. It is a great old house and is in the historic district in this small town. I felt extremely lucky when I found it 13 yrs ago! I got it for a steal and figured that what I saved in mortgage payments, would help me with the maintenance. I didn't factor in losing my job. UGH! MY house still has the original matching bathroom fixtures. They were beautiful and a big selling point, in like new condition. But thanks to lousy plumbers, a few years ago, the sink is probably ruined.

I have a gorgeous kitchen sink, but I need new faucets and I am afraid to let a plumber near it. I called a different plumber today. He is coming from 50 miles away. I am planning to ask him about the kitchen faucets, but I am probably just going to let him do the work under the house, nothing to hurt my sink.

I need the exterior painted desperately, and it seems like I am always finding little things that need something done. It is bad when I can't even get the grass cut in the backyard.  A stranger, most likely a neighbor worried my house will bring down property values, cuts the front for free. He refused to take any money or tell me his name... imagine! I DO worry daily that the city will come along and make some arbitrary decision about my house. So far the historic district is a city designation and not a federal one or I would probably already be sanctioned.

Barsco: some doctors won't let the nurse give results at all over the phone. Mine won't. So I never get anxious regardless of what the nurse says. I know they are usually grasping for something to say and most of the time do not think that the patient might try to decipher if there is some code for how it is worded.

Barsco- I am praying for great results.

My house is the oldest house in the town, pre-1800's. It's a can of worms. I don't know if I will ever get it fixed up.

Starting to stress over my surgery tomorrow. I hate the getting put to sleep part. I would rather be awake. Just numb me up a bit and I would be fine. I need to get this behind me so I can focus on the bakery. I met with the Coke rep today. They are doing my sign. So much more paper work and permits to do. I just want to bake. I hate the paperwork part.

If anyone is up early hop in my pocket. Surgery is at 8:15. Talk to you all soon.

Well, well, well - look who's still hanging around!

I guess I was a bit anxious after all. Seems to hit me after the scan and before I know the results. I let out quite a sigh when I spoke to the nurse today and she told me all was good. She WAS unsure about leaving a message - she's new. She knows now that it is ok to do so in the future.

Diana - I will definitely be jumping in your pocket tomorrow. Unlike you, I love the going to sleep part. It is such a great feeling to just drift off and next thing you know - you're awake and it's all over. You will do great! We'll make sure that everything goes smoothly for you.

You got yourself a loyal stable boy, barsco, and I'm glad he has decided to stick around.

Dianarose, Best of Luck with your surgery tomorrow.  Yes, get it over and done with, and then on to better (and more buttery) things.  You will be up and baking in no time (but remember to give yourself enough rest and sleep...it helps the body to heal.)

p.s.  To those who recommended Biotene to me...I have used that for dry mouth for a few years now.  Although I am dry, what is bugging me is more like neuropathy of the tongue.  Probably that nasty platinum drug is to blame.

Barsco, hoorayyyy for good news :)

Diana, I'm with Barsco...put me out! I tolerate anesthesia with no problems. Had two sx's where I was awake and it freaked me out listening to everything but being numb. I prefer la la land! Bringing danish and coffee for all pocket party attendees. We'll save your portion for post-recovery, don't worry. Hugs :)

Yay Barsco for the stable boy. May you continue your long term relationship.

Dianarose - snap your fingers and it will all be over tomorrow. In your pocket. Ummm tarts sound good right about now but I think I will have to settle for a bit of ice cream.

barsco ~ Wonderful news & that is one hot stable boy!!

Dianarose ~ Looks like your pockets are full, I'll just loop my arm through the button hole & hold on. I'm one for sitting near the end of a table, on the edge of a chair, or standing even, so I can move quickly to get something or get out.

Sherry ~ Love the picture of you & your darling granddaughter!

cmh ~ If I lived close, my DH could do some of that work for you on the cheap. And I don't mean he does cheap work, just never charges "friends". He's very handy, used to work for a home building company on the side.

Getting my house "cat-proofed". DD is dropping the cat off for us to cat-sit for 11 days while she & family go to Disney World. They are so excited & are counting the days ........ I am not so excited & am counting the days. We don't have pets, don't care to. (used to have 3 dogs, that was then......this is now) I was hoping she would have someone stop by their home to feed him & tend to the cat box, but, nope...... I'm elected. But I love my DD & I will do this for her.

Not sure how but this thread slipped off my favourites. Elle the Biotin mouthwash does help but not if the thrush shows up for that you do need a prescription.I got it twice while doing my chemo sets.(hugs)

So good to hear others are having good scans.

I am back to hospital on 19 for biopsies this time I had a long worrisome wait just to get a date.Nevermind the second wait for pathology. Surgeon did say that if he was suspicious of the lump he would just remove it instead of a biopsy.

My DH is sneaking me away to a beach so time will pass quicker.😎

Val - we'll toss out a tether for you so you don't have to worry about losing your grip. You're a good mom for taking in the grandcat! My sister has the same problem - only with dogs. She keeps saying that she doesn't have any pets, but there is dog toys scattered about her house and there is more often than not at least one dog there - lol. The things Mom's do for their children!

Mumito - jealous that DH is taking you away to the beach. What beach do you escape to? Can we have a PP there? Will definitely jump in on the 19th to hold your hand.

kaza - don't think I've "met" you yet. Thanks for your good wishes! Hope to see more of you here.

Diana - just going to shave my legs (so the others don't think that you are harbouring a porcupine) and then I'm on my way!!

We missed you, mumito.  I can't always remember, but you had Mx, right?  So disappointing that some lumps showed up, and I really hope they are B9 though why out bodies don't cooperate and stop growing things is beyond me.  I fully agree with getting out to the beach to have fun and take your mind of the appt. and try to de-stress as much as possible.

Oh, my problem is not thrush.  That is a visible condition and I don't see that.

Did I hear that tarts were being served at the PP for Dianarose?  That just made me want some light musical fare to go along with them.  Naturally, my first thought was a mouse on the pan pipes, which I am sure all will enjoy.  Not too loud is it, D-rose?

Everyone is in my thoughts today. I can't believe 5 years later and I am still having trouble retaining what I read... If I forget a name or an issue, forgive me... the brain isn't what it used to be... Reading and retention, math  and numbers, and even names and faces give me trouble. I used to have an almost photographic memory. That said.. hope all results are wonderful news, all procedures are a breeze, and trips taken are safe ones! I will try to hop in everyone's pocket!

My plumber just told me yesterday that all of my plumbing is leaking not just the one spot and my sewage is backing up; $3000 cash or check, no credit, to fix. NO CREDIT!! I wonder how people manage when they don't accept credit on such huge jobs! I feel so useless. I had to call my 87 yr old mother and ask if I could get a loan that we both know I may never pay back. I guess my electrical issues are on hold again and painting the house is a far off dream. Dianarose, my sister is in an old farmhouse in Maine. I should have known what kind of issues I would have... Well I did, I just didn't see cancer in my future. When I bought the house, I had central heat and air installed, and the whole house rewired from the original wiring.  I figured plumbing would be down the line and the house had been freshly painted.  Well, it is down the line.... I don't think that covers the incoming pipes and I have used bottle water for last few years, because the incoming water is so hard and has so much rust in it. It is ok for washing but not drinking imho. I wish I had a handyman. I know some of the issues I have could have been prevented if repaired in timely manner.

I took my last shower for awhile last night and hope it won't be too long before I can bathe again.

Hope today is good to everyone!

Eli - Sorry you have neuropathy of the tongue - but thanks for identifying it.  That's exactly what I have.  I hadn't pegged that, even though my lips have been numb. Ugh!!

Diana I am in for the PP.

Mumito sorry about the biopsy but we will have a PP for you and hey the 19th is my Bday so we can really get the party going on.  I pray it is B9.

barsco- I am so HAPPY for you.

I am home. Interesting day. First my fingers were swollen and couldn't get all my rings off. Then they told me they were going to be sticking a tube down my throat all the way to my stomach to deflate it. Yuck. Then they gave me a drug that I had never had before. Totally shut down my breathing passages and they had to give me a breathing treatment during and after surgery. I have had surgery there multiple times. Read my records and go with what worked in the past. The only thing that hurts is the left side. No pain on the right, belly button, or boobs. I have a compression bra on until Monday so not sure if I like them yet or not. Just tired right now.

    Thanks for the pocket party!!!

cmh, are you a member of any church? I've seen firsthand how churches around me, all diff denominations,do work for no cost whatsoever for their members. Even if you are not a member,if you know someone who is, they might be able to get you low or no cost help.

Mum, you said biopsies plural...what's going on?

Val, I can relate. We have a summer place at the Jersey shore, but my dd asked us to babysit my grandson...no brainer for me, I'm going to her house!

Is it continuous?  If so call your doctor.  If it was once, I'd guess they scraped or irritated something.
