Jo, I'll try to post photos on my new laptop and need new phone as it's a bit trying in the tech department for me at the moment. Boxing day is chilled for us and we have done the drive to see DH family. The M25 is horrible and no longer make the trek. The photo of you elfed up to run is so cute. Off to check NYT, rummage through my recipe box for leftover turkey recipes. My exercise today - practising new release #83. Have 2 Pilates classes and 1 BodyBalance in the evening, all at different gyms/towns tomorrow. Enjoying this down time.

lilac- enjoy your down time. I think I'm going to take a break from the boards until after New Years. I want to get in some extra running and catch up on paperwork. My friends like to drop over in the evenings and enjoy a glass of wine in front of the fire. At this time of the year I don't care if the temperature is 80° outside I have my fire going. I just discovered I have a flat tire. Fortunately the service station is a half a mile away so I'm on my way. Might have to delay my run today. Plus it is dark and stormy.

It has been snowing all day here! Time to break out the snowshoes!

Tempted to cut back on exercise today but got out the door for my 30 minute walk. Also did required daily shoulder and hip weight bearing for osteopenia. New years resolutions started early.
Hope you all are enjoying the holidays!

We had a very busy and fun Christmas Eve and Day. Our company, who had planned to stay a couple days, left early this morning to beat the storms (Winter Storm Warning today, turning into a blizzard for tomorrow). Since it was 'just' snowing, I met up with a couple of the Wednesday Walking Women this morning, went to Barre at noon, and Dance2fit tonight (remember, the fitness center is only two blocks from my house). We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Ruth, it's good to live "down south" in Chicago. Hahaha, I saw the Midwest map of the pending snow storm, and luckily it is to be all rain here. I can't believe we are getting rain on 12/27. I walked in a sweatshirt yesterday. I would actually rather have snow than this rain, but just a little - not a blizzard.
Egregious, welcome, and good for getting out even when the plan was rest.
Christmas day I did planks, squats and upper body weights. Yesterday we had a sunny, gorgeous mid-40s day. I went for a walk around the lake - 47 minutes, and managed two minute-long running intervals. Then went with my son and dog for a short 15 minute walk around the block. I'm really pleased with those results since its way improved from just a couple of weeks ago when I could only do the short 20 minute loop around the lake.

Hello ladies! Hope all had a wonderful week! Had a wonderful Christmas. Not as much exercise the past days as time with our boys and families and yummy food. But thats equally as important.
2hobbies...wonderful job post surgery! Sounds like you are recovering well!
Jo...my shirt is from goneforarun.com They have LOTS of unique running related items. I have ordered socks, sweatshirt and a couple shirts. All good quality and fun!
Since I am about an hour to the east of Ruth in ND I am also in a blizzard warning today. I made it to my Dr appt this morning but my gym closed early, the arena with the walking track 2 blks from my house didn't open at all today and my treadmill is not working so I came home from appt, made a batch of homemade chicken wild rice soup and did a 50 min HIIT workout utilizing my stairs and strength work and am now going to go shower, put on my pjs and settle in on the couch with hubby and 14yr old son to watch movies and nap this afternoin. I truly love storm days...and the fact that my hubby was able to fix our snowblower this past week! Enjoy this holiday week and if experiencing the bad weather stay safe and warm!

Since my 9:00am Zumba class was still on, I went. About 1/3 of the usual class was there......so; you don't have to be crazy to live here in the winter, but it helps!

all this talk of winter storms reminded me that when we lost power 2 weeks back for 27 hrs after a winter storm, we realized that we needed to replace our kerosene heater...once the power came back, totally forgot about it! With my mother with us, it is important to have reliable back-up heat...part of my exercise tomorrow will be walking through Lowe's.
Stay safe all in the storms path. TT

Ruth-How true. The unexpected will always happen but it's how we deal with it. Thanks for sharing.

Hello all - thank you Ruth for the pic directions and the Wild Women post, it really hit the spot! Yesterday rode an exercise bike for 30 minutes and then did weights for 30". Going to play bridge today - does mental aerobics count? Rain & sleet here, so not sure I'll get out before I have to leave. Much prefer snow to this!

The wind howled all night, making a mess of the roads. I wimped out & did 45 minutes on the treadmill & a 15 minute ab DVD at home.

Ruth, It's hilarious that an hour of exercise is wimping out. When I wimp out I eat a bag of sour cream and onion potato chips.

This pic shows the evidence of my exercise yesterday: our roads weren't plowed, and I wasn't going anywhere by car...but, proud to say I didn't totally wimp out either: I got a good workout in snowshoeing around the neighborhood. The tracks are from my snowshoes!

Great going!!! Plus, you got to enjoy the snow. Just in from a walk in the wind with a friend. Saw ducks and got in 5 miles. First time for him seeing the area, so really thrilled that I suggested this route. We were both glad not to be on bicycles. - Claire

It was an almost balmy day here in MA - 46 and sun so bright you felt like it was almost spring. Ran 3+ miles enjoying every minute of it. Think it's been a while since we've has such a good weather day. Love the snow pics - I wanted to get snowshoes - may still try for after holiday sales. Looks like fun!

I did a yoga sculpt DVD (yoga moves with light weights) and then checked Facebook where I found my fitness center was having a pop-up Core class (sometimes on Saturdays an instructor will just decide he/she wants to teach a class, so you have to check that morning). I zoomed over there, did the class & walked around the track for awhile.
Here's a picture all of you who live, or have lived, in a cold weather place can relate to!

Cool and sunny for my walk. I did about 20 minutes before radiation fatigue got to be too much. Hoping for better next week.
Wishing everyone good health!

From today's 5 mile walk which we fortunately did prior to it getting really nasty out. Love the way the rushes hide the two ducks. - Claire

Pilates at the spa this morning. Came home, had brunch with DH and now off to the gym to practice new #83 bodybalance release. Have 4 more tracks to get cues down and then teach it in entirety on Wednesday night. Just grey, damp-cold and foggy here in the hinterlands of Kent.

Ruth, I have seen that parking situation so mant times! Octo snowshoeing sounds like fun.
Cold here the last two days. Yesterday I did a short lake walk before traipsing all over Target. They remodeled and I cannot find anything, so I may have gotten more steps there than on my walk. Today it was a sunny walk around the lake but the wind is so cold. All the geese were hanging out at the beach. The ducks and other birds all were in a different part of thelake.

Walked today for a couple of miles - I'm bringing my phone next time so I can take pics - love to see everyone's postings..
Came down with a cold so taking it easy for now. Watching football and being a couch potato for remainder of the day.

I went to yoga and walked around the track for awhile. I am now going to lounge around and watch football too. Go Vikings!

It's noon, nine below with a windchill of minus 36..........I walked on the treadmill for an hour & did an abs DVD. Nest I need go out to buy a few groceries. We may, or may not, go out to dinner tonight. Brrrrr!
Happy New Year, weather or not!

Happy New Year- I spent Friday afternoon with my honorary 10 year old niece. We had lunch and then we went to see the movie Bumblebee. Now I know what a Transformer is. Unfortunately we both picked up food poisoning and since Friday evening I've spent almost every waking moment in the bathroom and bed. I was able to take care of my pets but they did not get any playtime. I am so thankful my yard is fenced in. When I finish recuperating I will make it up to them. So have a happy healthy New Year. I'm turning my cell phone off and throwing the bedcovers over my head.

As we wind down 2018 -- a year that I would prefer to forget -- I want to thank everyone here for being such an awesome group of individuals. You inspire me and give me hope that I will eventually regain the ground that I lost during treatment. I am still clumsy and slow, but I am looking forward to 2019, when I will begin Retirement 2.0, rebuild my strength, regain my balance, develop the coordination and grace that I never had to begin with, and become a normal human being again. So Happy New Year to all of us!

Happy New Year everyone. As always, I am thankful for this group of supportive and inspiring people. I have been off BCO since early November but am scanning through and trying to catch up. You’ve all been so busy.
I have been in a major fibromyalgia flare. I have been trying to keep up with my exercise and all the holiday stuff as well. Been doing Zumba and weights but am definitely more easily fatigued. I have extremely tight calf and hamstring muscles. Seeing a PT on Wednesday due to a diagnosis of bilateral Achilles Tendonitis and hoping to get back to pain free exercise. Just got a Fitbit and am looking forward to tracking my movement more closely.
Jo- I hope you feel better soon. My DH is currently dealing with that. I am praying that it’s due to food and not germs as I would like to avoid it.
Ruth- brrr! Those are some cold temps!
Falconer- my wimping out is more of the chip and dip variety as well. I consider an hour of exercise an achievement.

Ginger- hopefully the physical therapy will help with the fibromyalgia flareup. I would much prefer it being food poisoning than a virus. Good luck to your husband .
