WTG patoo! I think my primitive brain at 5:30 a.m. said why get up on the one day you can sleep in, to drive an hour, so you can walk three miles then drive an hour back. You can walk here at home, later, so sleep...
New pedo has an activity tracker; did 6.2k in 51:56 not an hour.
Watching public TV, the University of Wisconsin Band's Spring concert. These kids are so talented! ♥

Badger: In a week and a half we will have been married 31 years.

Patoo: Congratulations on your 5K! Good for you to register for more!

Great going Patoo! I got in 25 miles of cycling at a reasonable pace. Had a break for a client call. Have been working since I got home, so really ready for dinner. I HAVE to get to my other work tomorrow.
Only got soaked for a bit, but was easier working once I ditched my wet cycling tights. - Claire

Well done, patoo! Wonderland you look far too young to have been married 31 years. :-)
AnnieLane and nihahi, the ortho I saw for my first FS told me the same. Wait it out, don't do PT. That arm was mostly fine after 2 years, and kept improving into the 3rd year. LilacBlue, did you have cortisone or some other injection? I tried cortisone shots last time and the relief didn't last long at all. I do need pain meds for night time though. It's really keeping me awake and miserable. So will call Monday and see where I can get in soonest. Meanwhile need to fight my insurance company which is holding up the reflux meds. I feel like an assortment of malfunctioning parts.
Lots of walking today as I went on a guided tour of the local water system (drinking water and waste water reclamation). Was really interesting and well organized but a long day and lots of sun.

Badger (you got in regardless) and Patoo (so glad you went for it), well done to you both!! Ann, have my ortho report online and can tell you exactly what my one injection was for adhesive capsulitis: 80mgs Triamcinolone and 0.5% Marcaine. Perhaps I'm lucky but this one shot did the trick for me including further physiotherapy. Twohobbies, like Badger, I eat almonds for snacking and also carrot/celery with hummus.
Rest day yet gardening, more like pulling weeds and pruning of shrubs that have grown up above the lower windows and dog walk.

Thanks, ladies, I have another 5k this Sat but it's at 7:30 PM.
Anyone ever do a Glow Run? Just wondering what to expect.
Will get out to walk in a while, just having my second cuppa now.
((hugs)) to Ann and ♥ to all.

Thanks for the protein tips.
I upped my protein intake for a few days and am feeling a bit better. Also I did blood tests and am a little anemic so will take some iron. That should perk me up too.

Its a challenge to eat little enough to keep the weight off but enough to feel good.
Today's liquid awesome courtesy of 30 minutes - 11.5 km on the exercise bike.
Has anyone noticed if their radiated side perspires less than the other?

LilacBlue, thanks for the details. I found a clinical study on that injection and it said higher "cure" rate than oral tablets. So apparently it's known that it can "cure". There is another study going on evaluating that versus "wait and see" approach. Maybe it's not standard care yet to try it. Or maybe it's the same thing I had that only helped temporarily. Anyway I will bring it up with my doctor.
Bounce, yes I really notice total lack of sweating on the radiated skin. The entire area that was radiated stays dry and hot when the rest of me is sweaty. I'm a year out of treatment so I assume it's permanent. My RO told me it happens, and some people like it. Personally I'd rather have the sweat, for cooling purposes.

Ann - I was most interested to see that the wait and see approach is often recommended with frozen shoulder! It sucks.
I was all hot and sweaty after riding and peeked into my shirt and was surprised to see little beads of sweat on left booby while righty was hot and dry.
I was terrified of doing rads. It felt like the equivalent of blowing up the house to put the fire out. I hope the medical profession and all their statistics are right about rads helping more than hurting.

Ann, I have found medical interventions here in the UK do vary from what is available in the US. You have really tried to work around your frozen shoulder and kept up hooping which I think is remarkable. I can only imagine how the reflux thrown in has been difficult on you. I hope some relief on both aspects come soon for you. Bounce, good that you are feeling better with adding more protein (and iron).
I read this interesting article in the Sunday Observer NYT additional section. Titled:Studies Fail to Support Foods Link to Cancer

A double header for me this morning, Body Pump and Body Step but I will add a disclaimer, during Step one of the girls who had a baby was just standing at the door, seems 'kids club' was full so I took the baby and played with her and let Mom go into Step then she came out and took baby back and I went back in so really was only half a class. Badger the glow runs look like fun, usually after them they have a dance party. Ann hope you can get the insurance mess sorted out so you can get some relief. I also eat almonds and Greek yogurt and Trader Joes has a 100 calorie pack of nuts and seeds that are really good as well.

Hey, Hey! Guess who's back in it to win it! That's right, I swigged a little Pepto this morning and dragged myself off to the gym unsure of what the result would be, and I'm happy to report I was able to do 10 min of weights before a 45 min cardio class! It was rough but I got through (with many water breaks). So glad I went because honestly my stomach didn't bother me at all during class - all those jumping jacks and whatnot and I was okay! Still feeling mildly nauseous and whatnot this afternoon but that's okay! It's day 5 after my infusion and it's only going to get better from here - I've got two weeks of golden days ahead

Lilac I read that article and found it disappointing. I did extensive research when I was diagnosed and am a firm believer in diet playing a big role as a weapon in our battle. I make it a point to eat lots of organic cruciferous veggies, as well as apples and other organic fruits/berries. I will only now buy organic meats and eggs and try to do the same with virtually everything else I digest and clean with. I don't think the medical profession likes the idea of people foregoing treatment for the natural approach, but after a long exhaustive soul search and research I have found the only option for me is to embrace both. I've decided I have to have some faith in every avenue that claims it can help me beat the beast.
I am now going to head outside and pull some weeds (thanks for the inspiration, Lilac). I hope all my fit and beautiful friends here are enjoying a blessed and peaceful Sunday.

33 mile bike ride. (Should have been 26 but we followed the WRONG crowd!)
Now to replenish the calories I burned. (AKA "have another cookie.")

Jealous Dulci. No bike ride for me today as buried in work, with lots more to go. I got out and did a 4 mile run and somehow missed the torrential downpours we have had in the past hour. Talk about a break.
I am all for some "refreshments" following a long bike ride. Also, with 33 miles, I need a refueling stop.
Back to the grindstone. - Claire

There was a chance to refuel midway. (Or 2/3rds in my case!)
Pancake breakfast. BUT you had to take your plate, get in line, and when it was your turn...be ready! The guys making the pancakes would flip them up in the air and you had to catch them from about 5 feet back.
I'd love to do it again with less traffic and MUCH less wind!! Headwinds 20+mph on the way back. I may have made my friend hate biking. Oops!!

An hour of 'target toning' with Denise Austin.

Exercise today consisted of lots of chores. And more chores...lol
Spent the day filling the pool, cleaning the pool deck area, painting a bathroom and washing my car.
Hope everyone had a great Sunday.

Decided to take a day off, and go furniture shopping with hubby and visit daughter. No success with the shopping.....daughter has a stinking cold, so not much visiting there. At least the snow seems to have stopped for now!

Reporting in: 13.1 miles at the gym My band: black sweet potato plain
Wow, running out now, have to come back and read the posts, but when the page loaded I caught a glimpse of Dulci and her 26 something mile bike ride! OMG, the madness here never stops!
Congrats Dulci - you deserve the cookies!

Walked an hour every day this past weekend. It's great to see how my new motivation is spilling over to the family. My DH walked with me and he is NOT a walker! He was surprised how much he enjoyed it. :-) My kids have also jumped in on the daily exercise as well by running together. Today I start my cube to 5k program at work. I'm looking forward to it. We have our Color Run at the end of this month. Have a great day, Blue Shorts Oatmeal.

Ran 5K before work again. Starting to sound like a broken record, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Still getting my 10k steps in daily. The one day I didn't last week, I made up for it the next day. Nice weather finally, and light out late, which really helps with getting the steps in after work. Was to the gym once this weekend, worked on arms and back. Yesterday was chore day (lawn mowing, opening our pool), and in the middle of getting the cover off the pool my back went out. Yikes, still hurts today, was a challenge getting my socks on this morning. Naproxen is helping, and walking is fine, but today I am at work, can't imagine what sitting all day is going to do to it. So no gym today, and definitely a nice slowish walk at lunch.
Sorry about your basement Mary

Dulci - congrats on your long ride! Annie - you've been so good about your runs - that's great. Iwanna - good for you for "infecting" your family with the exercise bug!

Odie -sounds like you and I had the same weekend doing outside chores. Cleared the winter debris from some of the outdoor gardens, then battled the crowds at Home Depot to buy annuals. I got about half of them planted. I also mowed the lawn, actually one of my favorite chores. The pool is still full of muddy water from last week's rains. We can run the filter for only about a half an hour before it gets clogged and we have to clean it. Our weekend consisted of filter, rinse, repeat.

Going to the Nats game tonight against the Dodgers, so I'll get our Nats Walk in. BTW, Badger - your Brewers are kicking everyone's butt this year! I think Hank is their lucky charm. For those who don't follow baseball, a stray dog was found at Brewer's Spring Training camp, and when they couldn't find the owner, he kind of became the team mascot. They named him Hank. Isn't he the cutest little thing?

Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone!

Just want to say congrats again to everyone who did runs, rides or just basically survived the weekend!
Still some snow in the air here this morning, but they say it will be sunny and +15C by Friday!
I'm sure hoping to get the Okey Dokey from my PS today to resume swimming, running, etc. It is way past time for me to "reboot", I think hubby's safety lies in me being allowed to burn off some "energy" really, really soon.....have a great day everyone!

iwanna, It is great to see exercise spreading thru the family -- You are a Great role model!
Did a circuit training workout on Saturday incorporating my PT exercises. Got in a hour long walk yesterday. Back to rads today so no time for gym but will get out to run before the sun sets. Been taking my whistle along on my outings on the trails because we've seen lots of black bears in the neighborhood. I know they won't bother me but still it is a bit scary.
Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone!

Make it a colorful day everyone!

iwanna, great and wish my boy would run with me. LuvLuLu runs with her son and wondering where Lulu has been? mz_mes, bears would scare me too. Cheryl, nice of you to take the baby. Hank is very cute! Longisland, I copy you on the disheartening article link. I've read Whole and China Study (reference to one of the snark opening remarks) and T. Colin Campbell has a response.
Body balance at the empty gym as it's a holiday here in the UK and nice weather kept many away.

During my 3 years in the USA I was frequently heard asking DH if there were bears around (wherever we were). Imagine how happy I was to stop near Yosemite and see warnings posted all about!
My children thought I was the worst coward in the world. (I am).
Then soon before we left there were some mountain lion attacks on joggers and cyclists so I was often heard asking if there were mountain lions about at which point my kids used to grin and yell gleefully "No. Only bears."
By the way - wouldn't a whistle only aggravate a bear?
Today's exercise - 11km-31 minutes-exercise bike.
I stood all afternoon in the kitchen making a huge vegetarian lasagna and can't believe I actually rode the bike after all that.
Also I made almond butter. Why I don't know. It tastes terrible. What on earth do people do with it?
