Did 60 minutes of treadmill today.  I feel like I've joined the big girls now!

I  have rejoined the Black Salads tonight.  Well unless you count the aspirin I just took.  How about the Black Aspirin?

(((LongIsland))) - Glad it's getting better.

Ruth: I bet your Zumbathon was a blast! Hugging and cheesecake sound so much better than wrestling!

Blue denim taste of peanut butter here. Had a nice cool day which made my walk/jog very enjoyable.

You all have been busy as usual.  Voices did keep me moving although I haven't posted.  Mostly pacing around the house or marching to the news.  Made sure I got in at least 6000 steps a day.  Unfortunately Friday is my 'cheat' day so eating was pretty bad.  I do use weekends to try and catch up.  Doing a 5K tomorrow morning and although I have not been running I hope to sprint a little even if only seconds at a time.

    Black Roti here (yummy).

    Night my sculpted sisters.

I also am doing a 5K walk tomorrow morning so will be with you in spirit patoo!  Picked up my packet after work and have the t-shirt washed & dried.  Nice red ladies sport-cut with the race logo on the front and sponsors/charities on the back.

LB good luck and swift feet my dear.  What distance are you running?

The 5K is a ways from my house but a beautiful drive through southwestern Wisconsin.  This afternoon as I was driving home, there was a full-on double rainbow stretching the breadth of the horizon, most of the way home.  What a positive omen!

((LongIsland)) hope you soon turn the corner to feeling good.

Mary, major bummer about your basement and pool.

    Ruth, Zumbathon sounds very fun!

Bounce, I have not even had my shoulder evaluated and you are right it's getting worse.  I was trying to get the bacterial infection and the stomach issues sorted before tackling it. But I think it's time to get seen just to make sure it is frozen shoulder. What happened last time wasn't encouraging-- it was a long route through primary care, a rheumatologist, blood tests, xrays, ultrasound, misdiagnosed as bursitis, PT, finally an orthopedist who dx'd frozen shoulder, told me to stop PT and wait it out, and consider surgery only if it didn't heal on its own over two years. The most useful thing in all of that was pain meds.

Walked about two miles today. I'm a little weak from losing a few pounds while trying to avoid aggravating the reflux. I think I"m getting the hang of what I can eat and what I can't.

Gee, you could you go to who could help you from the start? 'Don't do anything for two years' sounds like a stupid answer to me. Since you've already eliminated other potential problems with all that testing, what about a sports medicine doctor?

Have a terrific time Patoo and Badger! Thanks Badger (double rainbow a wonderful sign for sure!) and the 10k is next Saturday night. Bounce, for the shake, I use 2 scoops protein powder half cup apple juice, half cup orange juice, 2 and half tbs. of cherry yogurt, 1 banana and half cup frozen mixed red berries. Blitz this all up for about a minute or more and I think it's rather delicious.   Ann, I went as far as I could with PT on my frozen shoulder and she refered me to ortho. There was no way I could live with the pain. Ortho told me doing nothing takes a minium of 18 months to resolve.  One injection got me back to PT and she got me going froward from there.

Ran a 10k this lovely spring morning and shaved 2 minutes off pb.Winking

Yikes, Ann.  Sore shoulders are the worst.  Mine were from skiing injuries a couple of years prior to diagnosis.  Healed up just before I had surgery. Tummy sounds no fun either.  I never did anything for either shoulder other than wait it out. It took about 9 months for the first shoulder and 6 months for the second.  Not to mention your tummy woes.

I got in quite a bit of running this week, and hopefully will do about 25 miles before the rains hit today.

LongIsland....I found that during those dark days, I always felt better if I dragged myself out for a walk.  I may have been slower than slow, but I was always able to do at least one mile.

On protein....I still find I need more than prior to diagnosis.  This was especially true the first two years following treatment.  I do not eat kale in the AM...although do love it for dinner.

I am getting beyond dull.  I have to finish off a client project and finish uploading a sponsorship request due before Monday later today.  This requires putting together some information about the financial benefit of the sponsorship to the sponsor (so the tax accounting is correct).  Ikea lost my wardrobe, so need to follow up on that too.

I have this dream of having my dressing area finished, with wonderful work attire in my wardrobe....and being able to locate the perfect outfit every single morning......

At least the good news is that all this exercise is paying off and my body is reasonably lean and very sculpted.  So the clothes will look good on it.

Back to work on illustrating dog food buyer personas....really!  Then off for my ride. - Claire

Ran 5K again this morning, a different route this time and with DH for the first time. He "ran" at my pace, and he probably felt pretty silly, but he won't admit it. We'll walk the dogs later today.

Ann, I had a frozen left shoulder a few years ago and am recovering from a frozen right shoulder now. Both times I went to an orthopedist who actually specializes in shoulders. He diagnosed it and gave me stretches to do at home and some equipment to do them with. He does not send patients with frozen shoulders to PT, because he thinks PTs tend to push you too hard and cause too much pain, which can be very discouraging because no matter what you do, frozen shoulders take a loooooong time to resolve. They really do resolve on their own eventually, but that can take a year or longer. The main purpose of the stretches is to try to prevent any permanent loss of range of motion. I have a friend who is a PT and has had a frozen shoulder herself and even she agrees with my doc's approach. And they do tend to get worse before they get better.

You can get cortisone injections into the shoulder and they help a lot, after you recover from the pain of the injection itself. Actually it's two injections each time: one in the back of the shoulder and one in the side. But the injections don't help with healing and too many of them can be damaging. My doctor won't give more than a series of three in each shoulder. When I was approaching mammogram / ultrasound and possibly biopsy time again I broke down and got the shots in advance, because otherwise there was no way I'd have been able to put my arm up and back on the table.

Another frozen shoulder veteran here....and I agree with the "conservative" approach vs the force it/steroid approach. It is SUCH a frustrating thing, because waiting it out and having things get worse is sooooo not how we are wired!!! But, time does heal, along with Annie's regime of ROM within tolerance of pain.

claire...if you are "dull"....then I am dusty, dented and tarnished!!! I am scratching my head over your self assessment!

Sitting with a second cup of coffee...watching it snow....sob sob sob!

Ladies how do you handle the appetite increase?  I've been pretty strict on my eating as far as types of foods I allow myself to eat with only a little cheating two or three meals a week.  Since I really increased my exercise this week, I'm starving and so I'm eating tons of carbs and sugar that I don't want to include in my every day diet.  SIGH!

Thank you ladies for all your hugs and encouragement.  It goes a long way!!! Happy If everyone does just a little something extra for me today, I'll feel accomplished... lol.  My fingers are crossed that I can get a good work out in tomorrow.  And today I will take Claire's advice and do a little walking.  I am already pumped up psychologically knowing I will have an active week ahead, culminating in the 11mi hike for life next Saturday! Good luck in your 5Ks & everything else you all do this weekend! xoxo

Twohobbies... If you are exercising more, you should be able to eat more food, to keep yourself from feeling hungry. Have you tried eating more lean protein, and whole grain fibre rich foods??? Empty carbs and sugar will just give you energy highs and lows. Not a good cycle to get into.

8th consecutive month of snow here.....45 min on the dreadmill, 30 on exercycle.....sigh  (Black cottage cheese and apples)

Wow, so much to comment on - you ladies have been busy! I feel so behind with all these exercise postings.  You all never sleep!!

Congrats to all the runners - and sending sunshine thoughts to everyone still battling snow!  I hope you get your Spring soon.

Two Hobbies - When I first started exercising, I too was constantly hungry.  I totally agree with Nihahi, eating fiber rich foods will help!  Try organic steel cut oatmeal for breakfast, and fruits and vegetables throughout the day when you feel hungry.  Although there is sugar in fruit, it's natural, and your body will want to replenish with an appropriate amount of carbs, but try to switch over to the complex carbs, which enter the blood stream slower and prevents insulin spikes.  Orange potatoes are also good.  To make it easy, I prepare a whole veggie plate ahead of time and keep it in the fridge.  It will last about 3 days before I have to add more veggies.  I find if there is nothing readily available and I'm starving, then I'll make a bad eating choice, so having something that is healthy and accessible is key. Also try almond butter (much lower risk of aflatoxins) on a whole wheat cracker, krisp bread or bread.  Popcorn if you are near a Target - lol. They only use 1 dime size drop of oil for the entire batch that they make in that big container.

My band:  Blue and white striped grilled chicken salad

Reporting in:  Going to have to get by with my version of 'extreme house cleaning' for today!

It was time to mow the lawn for the first time so I mowed for 55 minutes and did some weeding in the flower beds.  The summer kind of shovel and sculpt!

I realize that I did run out of healthy food at the end of this week.  Thus when my son said let's go get donuts, it sounded very appealing. There was not a banana or apple or strawberry to replace those.  Last weekend I cleaned and rearranged my refrigerator so now I can buy more produce and maybe it will last through the week.  Those were good ideas.  I'll buy twice as many sweet potatoes and apples and those can be my extra carbs if I need them, and then I'll try some of the nut butter and maybe avocados and olives for some extra healthy fat.

Oh Nihahi, I don't think I could do snow in May.  You come from strong stock! .

Did a Boot Camp this morning, our regular trainer was out so we had a sub, a young girl  of 23, I had to remind her I was 64 and just couldn't do some of the things she was requesting of me, mind you I did get a pretty good sweat goingSnooze Looking forward to hearing how our runners did today.  It's a gorgeous day here, still hot but the wind has finally dropped, they say we are going to drop 30 fegrees over the next few days.

A group if my friends are doing the OC marathon tomorrow so when I got a text asking me if I wanted to carbo load with them, my answer was 'heck yeah' I may not be a runner but I'm a pasta loverLoopy

It's a gorgeous spring day FINALLY.  Did 5k (plus) today but not how I'd planned.  The race was at 7:30 so I needed to leave home by 6:30 meaning up at 5:30.  All well and good except I slept until 8:30 oops LOL.  So did errands then power walked for an hour.  Logged 3.8 miles (6.2k).  Bought a new pedometer at the sporting goods store, hopefully this one for $30 will outlast the $5 big-box model that I have to keep replacing.

Went to mow the lawn but couldn't get the mower started so DH will have to do that (crocodile tears).  He needs to get a new one.  We've had this one forever and it's a POS.

TwoHobbies, I keep natural almonds on hand for a crunchy snack attack, you can get 100-cal packs which help with portion control.  Make sure you get enough water because thirst can masquerade as hunger.  I like Constant Comment tea (decaf) for a sweet snack attack, you can have it hot or iced.  Mandarin oranges are good, too.  My biggest thing, though, is to have quality groceries in the house.  If it's here, we will eat it!

♥ to all from Lavender Chocolate Kiss.

i'm adding this, because I'm pooped!!! The weather has been nasty for a few days. Rain, etc. so my roads are very muddy and my car is filthy. I have to leave for my bike ride VERY early tomorrow...no car washes open when I hit pavement. SOOOOOO, I decided to wash the car myself. I had to find the hose, etc. as we haven't quite gotten to spring yet. Then I suited up and scrubbed mud in 54 degrees with winds up to 24 mph. It made me realize that my upper body is not nearly as strong as my legs. What a workout.

    Loopy

"Muddy Wet Hot Dog" is my band for the day.

Now just hoping the roads dry up a bit overnight or my workout did not count for more than a workout.

Badger:; Sleep is always good! Glad you got your sleep and your 6.2K in today. Congrats on the 6.2!

Today must be mow day for everyone. Our mowers from last year were also a POS. Very frustrating! We got rid of them (one being a riding mower which is retired to the garage because dh can't let go of the piece of junk) and bought 2 new push mowers. Dh and I now have our own mower! Our yard takes 3 hours to mow so today we mowed together for 1 and a half hours and finished it until we have to do it all over again next week!

After mowing (and before the Kentucky Derby) I walked/jogged at the park.

Edited to add: Dulci, your car must have been a big ball of mud to make you want to clean it in that weather!

45 minute brisk walk (4458 steps according to Fitbit).  Perfect temp for walking right now!  One week past revision surgery so no running or targeted upper body for several weeks yet.  Might get out my weighted hoola hoop and see if I can last a few minutes.  So good to see everyone so active!  Nihahi - so sorry about the snow ThumbsDownThumbsDown!!

Nihahi, can't imagine snow in May.. Hopefully Spring will get to your neck of the woods soon. Badger, sorry you missed the race but way to go on the exercise. Guess it wasn't a good day for small engines as I had to postpone powerwashing the house until hubby gets it started.  Hope whoever else was running a race today was swift as the wind.

    Lots of walking today.

Hi all.  Badger my 5K was at 9:30am and only 20 mins from home.  Took me just short of an hour to finish.  I walk lots at home but don't usually power walk like I was doing.  I was woefully unable to jog much; so out of shape.  Then with errands I've logged over 15,000 steps, just short of 6 miles.  Ibuprofen and I have been best buddies today.

I am wiped out but feeling good and going to check out to register for others.

    Night my sculpted friends.
